  1. HNAC alum, Jack Kiser having a great 1st half for Notre Dame vs. USF.

  2. I have had, and always will have, the utmost respect for the Rensselaer football program. I feel comfortable saying that the coaches feel the same way. Tonight’s game is another example of why I have that respect. Both teams played hard, compassionately, and with great skill. The defenses won the game for both teams tonight. Great job of preparation on the part of the Bomber nation coaching staff. Great effort on the part of the players. I personally hope y’all have nothing but success from here on out this season.

  3. HNAC alum, Jack Kiser, having a great 1st half today in what I believe was noted as his 1st start for the Irish. Notre Dame looks very good, but will add USF tackling is atrocious.

  4. It’s easy to understand the confusion. Sometimes when special venues are used you switch to Saturday. It’s logical to think it might revert back to its normal night. Nobody was being a jerk.

  6. Heck of a game! Hate to end up on the short side of the score but great game nonetheless!

  7. Okay so I was bored. Over the years there have been a lot of arguments (some of them heated) over who plays no one and who plays a meat grinder for a schedule. I thought I'd check to see who played the toughest schedules in 2A. I used the Sagarin ratings for this list. I have the school and their state rank for their schedule. I only used the top 15 since most years that is where the eventual champion comes from. Here ya go: 1) Ft. Wayne Luers 23 2) Evansville Mater Dei 61 3) Speedway 89 4) Cascade 98 5) Monrovia 101 6) Rensselaer Central 106 7) Shennandoah 109 8 Woodlan 114 9) Providance 115 10) Eastern Pekin 118 11) WInchester 119 12) Lewis Cass 124 13) Linton Stockton 130 14) Scecina 144 15) Triton Central 146 Keep in mind these are the ratings for this week. They will change from week to week depending on the opponent. Again, I was bored. And I apologize if I left someone out.

  8. Passed away on Friday at 87. The 2nd woman ever to be on supreme court, lived her life to the fullest. She stood up for what's right.

  9. As someone who throws flags, in many situations I prefer a late flag to an early one. Best advice most young officials need is SLOW DOWN, give your brain a second to understand what your eyes saw.

  12. They did not do bad for student broadcasters. I have endured adults doing much worst. Have you listened to the guys doing the Boonville games? I think every flag thrown against the Boonville offense is a "late flag". I did think it was funny when the Jasper play by play guy pointed out that the Mater Dei QB has to run over to the sideline for every play. He then pointed out that the Jasper QB does not do that because he is smart enough to figure out what to do on his own and just calls his own plays.

  13. Go back and look at my original post. I did say I used this week's ratings and the ratings will change from week to week depending on the opponent. No need to argue that a team SHOULD BE higher. If you think it's wrong, take up the argument with Sagarin. It's his numbers that I used. Andrean at 171 didn't make the list this time. They probably will in the future. Linton sits at #130 this week but have all lower ranked teams left on their schedule. They will more than likely drop off this list after another game or two. Like I said, it changes weekly. And I DID say, "I was bored".

  14. One last comment and an FYI: Today, Navy was a touchdown underdog to Tulane. The score at halftime was 24 - 0 Tulane. Final score was 27 - 24, Navy! The rushing game finally got going in the second half and they also had a good passing game which was a surprise. Navy hit a field goal to win it as time was running out. Great comeback win for the Blue and Gold! Again, can't wait to watch Mockobee when he puts on the pads at the academy!!!

  15. Andrean is #171. They've played 2 6A's (including sagarin #8 Merrillville) and 3 4A's so far. In the final 4 weeks they have three more 4A schools (Sagarin #21, 63, 71) and 5A school. They easily have a top 5, if not higher, 2A schedule. 6A (2) 5A (1) 4A (5)

  17. Sorry to disappoint you. I can assure you the man doing the announcing was not intentionally trying to do whatever you believe he was doing. He is a very "do the right thing kind of guy," and I'm confident he was just trying to do the best job he could do. He is a very excitable guy and I have no doubt that could have played into how much he was talking if he was saying too much. I was on the field and never noticed it... If it needs addressed it will be...

  18. You may be right. We'll find out over the next 3-4 weeks. Castle should beat Reitz. Castle's defense has the edge over Reitz's offense, and Castle's run game should be enough to power past Reitz's defense. Jasper and Central will be good tests. I'd give the Knights a slight edge over Jasper because I think Castle may be able to slow Jasper's run game down. Expect an old-fashioned ground-based slugfest. The 2nd half of that game will tell the tale. Which defense will fold against the run first? MD did have some success running the ball in the 2nd half at Jasper. Castle struggled to slow Central's offense down last year. Central's passing game has dropped a notch, but their running game has improved a notch. It will be interesting.

  20. Linton is definitely getting themselves ready for the playoffs. They're scheduling above their class level in the first half of the season and their young QB will keep getting more experience.

  23. I am pretty sure when Arlington's field became available (i.e. Arlington no longer playing on it) - Cathedral quickly jumped on the opportunity due to close location to Cathedral H.S. A Cathedral alumn that has a landscaping business generously donated and/or upgraded the playing field. I personally think Arlington is a unique home-field advantage for the Irish given the grass playing field which many teams don't use or practice on anymore. Also it is not the greatest part of town, so I would imagine teams and parents of visiting teams probably don't look forward to traveling to play in that venue. Hence, it is 'old-school' at its best! However the safety issue which Footballking16 cited above is a concern though.

  24. Fields obviously in a lot better shape than it used to be now that Cathedral has taken care of it (and Arlington no longer playing and practicing on it everyday) but do question if it’s the right move going forward if they decide to keep it natural grass, especially come the colder and wetter months. Counted two X players who left with injuries last night that I would attribute to the playing surface and Cathedral’s best WR avoided disaster getting tackled on the concrete part of the track that’s 5 yards from the sideline. Parking isn’t terrible and there’s adequate seating, but it’s nowhere near the venue of Tech High School.

  25. Congrats to the Irish on getting the W. Sometimes even the best teams need a wake up call to know they aren't invisible. Good to see Cathedral and Center Grove having such great years. Indiana deserves some respect for it's high school football in the Midwest and nationally -- and it doesn't have to come at the cost of being a football or basketball state. Success in both at the highest levels helps all levels of HS players in Indiana have a better chance at playing at the next recruiters -- getting recruiting services and coaches' attention.

  26. Looks like this week played to hoyle. Wolfs appear to be a team that is becoming a juggernaut. NV proved that even when they’re down they’re not out. Is RP taking BP during the week yet? Seeger showed that they are superior to the basketball school that is Covington. Attica....we’ll, they played this week because they thought they could win. We’ll see if they show up and play in week 8? The D1’s? They are who we thought they were....the bullies of the WRC. Worst Sullivan team in years and all kinds of D1 talent on the field and still can’t win? Week 6 should be interesting.

  27. No disrespect to Leo. But after having officiated the Mooresville game, its apparent that they do need to diversify the offense in order to compete against the best of Southern 4A. Mooresville is absolutely formidable! And with QB who is a Sophomore (WOW)... That's not going to change for the next 2 seasons. As for the SAC, I won't count out anyone...week to week. Its all about the 'scheme and matchups'... Glad that they are playing games, IMO!

  28. ALL Summit Athletic Conference games can be found on IHSAATV.net under the affiliates tab. This includes the Bishop Dwenger at Carroll game on the 19th. Telecast starts at 6:30 If Homestead us at hosting, that's the only broadcast that will not be sent via Summit City Sports online. Just an FYI....

  30. It is an awesome game for the state. and It is a great competition for players. You have to think it is a bit annoying for CG that their last game of the season is a non conference opponent in Cathedral. Outstanding program with outstanding players each year. It makes it tough to prepare for a non conference game the last game of the regular season with worrying about injuries and what not. There were a couple years in this series where Cathedral was 6A and I am sure neither team wanted to show all of their stuff because of the possibility of a semi state matchup. Either way, it is going to be an incredible Week 9 game between the Trojans and the Irish. I always consider this game the Notre Dame vs. USC matchup for Indiana High School Football.

I'll read my own statement again to see If I had neglected to state the information about when is the date of the event, and where it is being staged. No, I guess not; its all there! Saturday, the 19th.; moved it back to the Fort, where Carroll is the host.
