Simply awesome. I respect the Bombers so much for scheduling a game on short notice. Kids want to play. No one wants to practice all week and then miss a game. Win or lose. Prepared or unprepared sometimes it is just about allowing kids to play ball and have fun. Mad respect to all three schools, communities, and teams involved.

High school football at a public school with 4A enrollment is cyclical. The Dragons graduated 22 seniors last year, including the state's all-time leading rusher that had D1 offers and chose to walk on at IU. They also graduated 3 starting OL, including Michigan State's Kyle King. They graduated their ENTIRE secondary and 7 of their top 8 WR. Everyone knew this would be a rebuilding year at NP. I had hoped the sophomore class would be ready to step in, but the virus ruined that. Less weight training and conditioning, no 7 v 7, no scrimmages. And it's shown. Not a great year to be inexperienced in a lot of key spots. Finally, injuries . . . the Dragons have been very fortunate with injuries the last two years. And seem to be paying the piper this year. NP has lost three starters for the season. 8 more starters have missed multiple games due to injury. That's 11 starters that have missed significant part of the season. Some significant depth is also injured. In the GF game, the Dragons were missing 7 starters. The QB for the Dragons in the JV game hasn't played QB since third grade. It's been just a MASH unit. But that's just the way football is. You strap up and play with what you've got. That being said, the Dragons have been competitive in every game and are 4-1 for goodness sake.

Been saying for years I don't mind the ping pong balls. I just don't get the big deal with the seeding of the team's. So what if the top two teams have to play week one opposed to week three. Plus there is no guarantee that this 1 vs 2 matchup will automatically happen anyway.

Ben Davis at Carmel I think BD has improved with each game this year, and they bounce back after a tough loss to LN last week. BD by 3 Center Grove at Pike Everyone has already crowned CG the 6A champs, BUT NOT SO FAST MY FRIEND. Coach Ech and the Red Devils finally break through and get that statement win for the program. Pike will play to win the game and I predict the ball just bounces their way tonight. Pike by 1 Lawrence North at Warren Central LN wins in OT against a BD who just beat WC. I like the WC defense here in a low scoring game. WC by 2 North Central at Lawrence Central North Central wins by 20+. Hoping for some stability in the LC program soon as they've gone scoreless over the last 3 games.

A little off topic for the PAC thread but this game between Calumet and GS is proof that an all in seeded tournament would work. If two teams from total opposite sides of the state can plan out a game in less than a week, pretty sure the IHSAA can do it for a tourney.

I think that quarter requirement varies from school to school.

Correct: From a Coach perspective, it is, next man up, has to be, not sure why that should be question. The bad luck I mentioned, requires Tipton to indeed go to NEXT MAN UP. Nice attempt to create drama.... Queen... I mean Kings Fan. Those Stat Guys..... Always getting the coaching staffs in trouble!!! I think that applies to everyone's bottom lines.

I recall a season at Notre Dame when we played back to back home games, first USC and then Navy. Saw a bedsheet hanging out of a dorm window that said: “Burst the Trojans and Bring on the Seamen!” True story.

I just got a chance to read this and I am so thankful to be able to meet people like this and work with some top notch school systems. A Positive Story.docx In this strange unpredictable world of Covid-19, I have a very positive story I would like to share with you. Last week my team, the Rensselaer Central Bombers prepared very hard for our next opponent, the Lafayette Central Catholic Knights. We were scheduled for a major Hoosier Conference showdown to be played at their place. My team came to school wearing their game jerseys all fired up for the big game. At 9:00am after my first class I teach, our school athletic director, informed me that the game had been cancelled by Central Catholic due to Covid issues. With less than 10 hours to go before kick off, I expressed to our athletic director that I would like to see if any team is out there available and willing to play on such short notice and he agreed. Within an hour we had our opponent. The North Knox Warriors had two games already cancelled on them this season due to Covid. Pike Central cancelled on them for last Friday. As fate had it, by 11am on Friday, our athletic director, Ken Hickman had reached out to North Knox’s athletic director, Kent Doades and the next thing I knew was we would be playing a football game on Saturday. With North Knox being 3 1/2 hours away, the next issue was where would this game be played? That’s where this story gets even better. Covington High School was contacted to see if they would be willing to host this game as a neutral site. The athletic director there, Trent McCormick was gracious enough to accept the game as a neutral site host. So, this past Saturday the Rensselaer Central Bombers and the North Knox Warriors got together in Covington, Indiana and played a 48 minute game of high school football. Both communities came to Covington to support their teams. For two teams that had never played each other in any sport, this was a first. Hats off to all three schools and their athletic directors and administration for allowing this to happen. Needless to say it was a beautiful afternoon of pads popping, fans cheering, and sportsmanship by all. It was a great time by all! I am not going to share the score with you because it doesn’t matter. What mattered was we played! Finally, thank you to all of you at the IHSAA for having the foresight to allow us to play high school sports this Fall. It has meant so much for our student athletes, coaches, parents, and communities. Through your guidance and leadership it is amazing to see us entering Week 7 in football. When you run a good program, football players move in or transfer. Why is that hard to understand?

As soon as I saw this thread topic, I knew our forum's "let's take today's ridiculous hot take that has no basis in fact and throw it against the wall" poster had started it. New Palestine was a historically good team the last two years. Last year's team also had 20+ seniors and graduated the state's career rushing and scoring leader, three of their top four receivers, an OL/DL who is now playing in the Big Ten, and their *entire* secondary. It's a mid-4A-sized public school that is 4-1. It was pretty widely known they'd be rebuilding a bit after graduating that much last year. Add to that, they've dealt with a number of injuries that has decimated their depth. Despite that, they're 4-1 (and they held a 3:1 yardage advantage in last week's game, but the opponent is much improved and they were very opportunistic). The JV is 5-0 and has won its games by a combined score of 152-20, both junior high teams were very successful and NP has one of the largest elementary leagues in the state. One three-game stretch is not enough to start claiming the program is "in decline" when it's not.

I would think they will be a tough opponent based on where they are located. I can't make the game because of a prior commitment. Do we have a great AD and Coaching staff or what to make this happen? Great team effort.

Can’t believe it’s week 7 already. It’s been a crazy few weeks so I haven’t been able to post some of my predictions. So here are my predictions for this week Warsaw at Wawasee- This is a good Warsaw team going up against a not so good Wawasee team. Even though they are playing for the W trophy I don’t see Wawasee being able to hang with Warsaw. I’ll take Warsaw by 30. Northirdge at Goshen- This is Goshens senior night and first game at home. I think they will be ready to play. They hung in with Warsaw better than I thought they would. Northridge is coming off a good defensive battle with NorthWood. Could be a trap game for Northridge. I think it will be close for the majority of the game. Just because I think Northridge will come out just a little flat. But I think Northridge will get it done in the end. I’ll take Northridge by 10 Eastside at Concord- I don’t really know anything about Eastside. According to Sargins rankings they are the second ranked team in 2A. I think this game will be whoever has the better athletes. They don’t really get to scout each other with finding out who they are playing late in the week. I’m going to take Eastside by 7. Mishawaka at NorthWood- This should be a pretty good game. I think Mishawaka is starting to get it rolling after the Concord win. I think NorthWood will come out hungry after the tough loss to Northridge. But Mishawaka is going to keep it rolling. Mishawaka by 4. When you graduate 22 seniors from a varsity roster in the 40s that tends to have a major impact. Don't care how great the coach or program has become, a 50% roster turnover plus a team thats been decimated by early season injuries makes it tough to keep up the ridiculous standard that has been established at New Pal. If that happens I expect the score to be more lopsided in the opposite direction than last year. Similar to last year the teams aren't on the same level but I'd say the difference is more significant this year.

Relax!! lol. It is high school football, sometimes there just are not as good of players in the building. New Pal still has a great program. Sheesh

I guess we have to look at this realistically. It's good that there IS a draw this year. Nothing is certain, even to this point. We should be thankful that we have been able to progress this far and hope that the season can end Thanksgiving weekend as usual. One week at a time!
