You might as well submit it all. If you don't give it to us, someone else will. We should share all film. IF you don't share it all, there are ways to get it all. Someone always owes someone else a favor or has a connection. I don't think we had any less then 6 films of any opponent we played in the playoffs. Share it all, Endzone and sideline. May the team that prepares the best win!!!

The football fans that don't understand how certain styles of play don't fit into certain scenarios/situations baffles me. Throwing the football is one of the most difficult things in sports. Many spend Monday's arguing how the QB of their favorite NFL team sucks but then then sit in the stands on a Friday night yelling "throw the ball!" High School football in most communities involves kids that play other sports, you get 6-9 hours of practice time with these kids a week (not 22 like the college game). So unless your going to monopolize the time of a lot of kids outside of the fall (remember their is a lot of skill involved in pass protection too, think of what NFL tackles get paid) throwing the football consistently at the HS level becomes a tall task. A lot of the schools that are utilizing a run heavy offense are trying to narrow the talent gap between them and their opponent. Army, Navy, and Air Force have long been competitive running the Triple Option with what amounts to D2 and D3 talent at the D1 level. If those teams lined up in the spread it would get really ugly for them very quickly. When they do what they do we've seen them win big games (Navy vs ND) and push other D1 schools to the brink (Army vs Oklahoma, Army vs Michigan). Yet we often see the fan in the stands at schools that are trying to use the precision and aggression of their ground and pound offense to win a similar way that the academies do, yelling to throw the ball and then posting on sites like this about how "dumb" or "unimaginative" the offense is. They have no idea how wide the gap would be in those games if that running team were to try to jump into a 4 or 5 wide shotgun formation. If you can get past all that, and you still want to throw the ball, have fun finding a coaching staff in 2021 to coach everything that you need to with the deep understanding that it takes to be elite in the spread. You need a Qb Coach, a RB coach, OL Coach, TE Coach, Receivers Coach, and that is at minimum. AND they all need to have a deep understanding of how all the parts fit together (while working their 9-5 jobs or teaching their classes). In the Straight T you can function with an OL coach (better with 2), TE Coach, and Backfield Coach. Really limits the number of people you need to have that really know whats going on. Does throwing the football have a place in HS football? Absolutely. BUT the situation has to be right for it to go well. I suppose we will never open the eyes of some Monday morning Qbs, but all that know enough, know exactly what coaches like Coach Sharpe are attempting to accomplish offensively.

I would guess BigBH stands for either blowhard or butthead. Really, what's the difference? I have coached at both Westfield and Noblesville middle schools. Westfield has a system in place that everyone from pee wees to varsity run and the HS coaches attend practices to help with installs. Westfield runs a spread formation and is an inside/outside zone team. All of the players know the terminology and formations because they are drilled in them from the time they start playing football. I was at Noblesville when Justin Roden was the HC. I saw a HS coach at one of our practices twice and never saw them at a game. I just don't feel he had any plans to be a long-term coach for the Millers. I had to give up coaching due to work and have not had the opportunity to see Coach Sharpe's approach. I do know we had good kids at Noblesville and with 2 middle schools they do have the opportunity to create some depth and competition for spots in high school. The year I coached we competed with the middle schools from HSE, Westfield and Carmel and did quite well. Whether the new staff is able to put it all together remains to be seen. When you talk about offenses and the need to spread the field and run the ball, I think of Center Grove. They are a wing-T team competing at the highest level of high school football in Indiana. They have had the athletes recently to open it up a little, but they would never be considered a spread and throw kind of team. They also have a program that is run the same from top to bottom. The Millers can be successful, but it is going to take time, and patience.

I have had the great fortune of coaching against and working for Coach "D" at his Camps. The man is a wealth of knowledge and is a great motivator. He also has a great knack for handling personalities and making them all work together. He is a true leader. Coach "D" was also the first guy to have in school weight classes. It was because of him, that everybody else started getting them. He also started using Camps to improve his players in an era when summers were not open. Anyone who does not think Coach "D" would have not been successful wherever he coached just doesn't understand what he has done for the game in our state. The man is a legend and arguably the the catalyst behind the improvement of football in the whole state.

Don’t discount Kevin Vanderbush’s impact on not only the Football program but all programs.

I miss talking about the old cluster system...a important time in Indiana High School Football. When you can be undefeated and still not make the playoffs. Where one school decided to file a lawsuit. The current days are boring compared to that

If any of you are needing a football fix in the near future, the State's NAIA programs begin their season in a couple of weeks. Look for St. Francis, Marian, Taylor and IWU on the Grid Iron soon. It's gonna be cold, but these athletes and coaches have been working hard to prepare!! If you get a chance, go out and support them! If youhave never been to see these teams, I think you will be surprised at the High QUality of play. St. Francis and Marian are pernnial national powers at this level and the rosters are full of Indiana kids!! Put on your long underwear and head to one of these stadiums!

Used to love this day, take a day off from school and watch and read about new commitments. Now with the early signing period feels like this day isn't what it used to be or maybe it's just me. I'm a Notre Dame fan and they have really taken advantage of the early period, signing most of their guys in Dec and only a few in Feb. The rb they're supposed to announce today (Logan Duggs) is supposedly having 2nd thoughts and wants to remain home and play for LSU. As a fan, or coach, what does everyone feel about the 2 different signing periods? **Side note** So so happy NCAA football series is coming back! Forgot to say congrats to all of the Indiana HS players who are moving on to the next level!

It's good quality football for sure. I remember one year, St. Francis waxed Indiana State. Beat them by a wider margin than Texas Tech did the prior week. It was 2005 I believe...............42-10.

Ok...so that MAY account for HALF the schedule. And your original point, as weak as it was, was based on qualifying for the playoffs. That ended prior to the 1985 season. Add to that they were put in a cluster in 1983 and 1984....not really under their control what cluster they were in. AND, My focus was the OUT of conference schedule. Probably should have quit while you were behind though.

Which is exactly what happened in 1976. Carmel was state runner up in 1975 and Mark Herrmann returned for his senior season with a pre-season #1 ranking. He was forced out opening night vs North Central with a sprained ankle. Carmel lost the game. They finished 9-1 and missed the playoffs, even though most considered them the best team.

I tend to agree, but in all the time I've never seen another team share endzone film. While I'm complaining, I'd also like to see teams update stats on maxpreps.

Picking up on Irishman's comment, I grew up in the NLC. Warsaw (3A) could have gone 10-0 but playing all 2A schools kept them from ever getting to the playoffs in that old system. When they did try to play a 3A school it seemed like it was FW Snider or Penn and that never went well for them

I would never ever discount Kevin. There's a reason why he's a Hall of Famer. He changed the way schools think about weight training. Coach Vanderbush came in with Coach D.

Ok, we get it. You think Dick Dullaghan was a product of where he coached. I'm sure that's why he earned those college coaching jobs with Jim Young at Purdue and at Army. Ben Davis' best year prior to his arrival was an 11-1 run to the Final Four in 1977 and a 7-0-1 campaign in 1950. From 1937-1983, BD had 11 winning seasons...total. The Giants, as a program, didn't go over .500 until 1997. But, yes...it was all enrollment. Anyway, my original point as to why Carmel made the playoffs was not just because they were a wealthy suburb but because they had a great football coach has been made.

The question was geared towards out of conference opponents in the tournament and film from Hudl sent to them. That is what @POTLUCKwas getting at. So are you going to say that Southridge only had two game films of Mater Dei last time they played? Sorry, but I’m not buying that. Honestly, I don’t see the big deal, but some coaches can’t stand the thought of sharing film with a few clicks. Sure it feels good to meet at the 50 yard line before the game and swap VHS tapes. But I’m sure there were just as many extra dubbed copies floating around in those days too.

I would love to see all HNAC teams submit to a pool. Only sideline no end zone. I’d also like to see schools using a competent camera person and camera. These tablet uploads we get are terrible.

As late as the early 90’s, not uncommon for the guy on one end of the chain to be wearing a Ralph Lauren parka, and the guy on the other end would be wearing worn out Carhartt bibs. Most on this board haven’t been around long enough to know/remember there was mostly farmland north of about 82nd Street.

He is a great man and was a great coach. I had the pleasure of listening to every one of his Home halftime "talks" during the 1973 season, and talked to him almost every day that year. I even cleaned his office every day.

Kokomo Haworth was a doomed experiment from it's inception. At least the newer Haworth building on the west side of town is now the Kokomo high school building.

I'm not going to defend every aspect of Sharpe's power T. There are certainly valid criticisms of the system. However, his years at LaPorte were not "average". They were honestly pretty damn good apart from his last year there (which was a very tough year for him and the team for a number of reasons I'm not going to belabor here). If he called 52 passes last year that's probably double what he typically called at LaPorte, and the teams at LaPorte averaged nearly 30 points per game on offense (and there were lots of games where a pass was never attempted...). Everyone knew what was coming and they couldn't stop it. Run properly it is not a "grind it out offense" it can be high scoring and dynamic. Go look at the numbers. Those offenses at LaPorte were prolific scoring offenses. The 2016 team was the smallest school in 6A and I truly believe that they would have had a chance to make it to LOS had they been in 5A that year. They had good players who believed in the system and they were successful because of it. That "rugby" offense at LaPorte was often problematic in LaPorte because it scored too fast and kept putting the defense back on the field. It's not like Noblesville was a juggernaut when Sharpe showed up. They averaged 15.3 ppg last year. That was the highest ppg Noblesville has had since 2016. What did you expect? A messed up off season with a new coach and system would somehow take a program that has struggled offensively for the past 4 years and make them a prolific scoring machine? Give the guy a chance.

Since I have kid that played against Noblesville a few months ago I am confident saying without question the worst offensive system I have seen since the 80's...not sure if the coach is as horrible as I think or they simply don't have the athletes, but the majority of the game they lined up with zero wide receivers and on occasion split one kid out and actually tried to throw to him. I think one big poster here has honked the Noblesville coach and a big turnaround but sorry he needs to hire a new O coordinator or get out of the passing happy HCC......they were down 28 and still ground and pound....horrible!!!
