ok here it goes: here are wins and losses this year so for for 305 teams I counted 0 wins-29 teams 1 win-34 team 2 win-53 teams 3 win-46 teams 4 win-47 teams 5 win-46 teams 6 win-34 teams 7 win-16 teams out of the 29 0 win teams there are 4 games were 0wins vs 0wins play...so, at least 4 will have a win next week there are 19 undefeated teams...16 that are 7-0, 2 that are 6-0, and 1 that is 5-0... Like I said...I was really bored and thought there was a lot teams with no wins...so, i just started counting...everyone have a great week...cant wait until sectional draw.

This comes straight from Mr. Faulkens this morning. Context is included, so all will understand. When the Mercy Rule was first implemented in 2019, the directive to the officials was that it constituted the only manner in which normal timing could be altered. Agreements of the teams to the contrary notwithstanding. The idea was to take the decision out of the hands of the coaches, who often had competing motivations. Then the pandemic came and the thinking changed a little bit. It was thought that with lower numbers, quarantines, abrupt cancellations and reschedulings becoming commonplace, it was best to give the local authorities, i.e., game management and the coaches, some additional flexibility when mismatches occur. @Irishman and @SoIndRef are correct, the statements in the video about Mercy Rule timing starting in the 1st half were just part of a larger discussion and not pronouncements of a change in the application of the Rule. So that there can be no doubt, this is the official IHSAA interpretation of the Mercy Rule and the role of coaches' agreement to alter timing: Teams are allowed to shorten periods by agreement in the first half, meaning a period would be less than 12 minutes, and normal timing rules are applied during that shortened period. But they can’t implement Mercy Rule timing until the 2nd half. Once the 2nd half begins, Mercy Rule timing is the exclusive way in which the timing rules can be altered. Thanks to everyone for bringing this situation to light so we could get clarification. I know it got a bit acrimonious at times, and that was regrettable. But on behalf of the officials in Indiana, thanks for helping us make sure what we're doing is right going forward.

This is a topic often not considered when schools are looking for potential opponents. It's probably THE most important thing that should be considered. If a school still has paper coke/Pepsi cups for soft drinks with real carbonation happening behind the counter. That school gets a +5 on the concessions list. You can usually tell a lot about the quality of opponents by how good food is at the concessions. If they have burnt popcorn or cold hot dogs and no greasy hamburgers or brauts like a college campus don't consider them. US parents like to eat a lot so quit making me stop at fast food on my way to the games and let me support the FFA club by buying a 1/2lbs heart attack burger they made on a grill donated by the local bar. Allow me to buy the 1gal slushy from the drama department. My point is concessions have gotten worse and I'm tired of cold popcorn terrible tasting better for your health hot dogs, and soft drinks that taste like they sat in an athletic department cooler since last year. I want greasy unhealthy foods with softdrinks in a paper cup and real carbonation. So what schools have the best concession stands?

Forced sportsmanship is no sportsmanship at all. If the kids want to walk across and shake some hands, more power to them. But that single file line stuff belongs in tee-ball.

It is specifically said in the video that if a game is 63-0 in the 1st quarter then both sides should probably come together and agree to shorten the game or “accelerate” the use of the mercy rule. Damn you officials are stubborn!

The video is from this year. Brian Lewis is sitting in on it, and he just was hired at the IHSAA. Also, they are talking about shortening the game. That is what the rules allow. Not running the clock. If both coaches agree to shorten the remaining periods to 5 minutes, THAT is the rule interpretation. Not a running clock.

For the guys who just “hate” that GS is having a “super team” this year and say that they are having a dominant season because of the transfer ins… I say get over it! even if they didn’t get a few transfer ins, GS still would be as good as they are now with these guys. its called “program buy in” and they started this at the lower levels and follow through middle school into high school. im not sure now, but I can recall their 6 th grade boys traveling in “summer fball “ team camps many years ago, So in other words, when many schools are off in the summer, their youngsters are working tails off—- so when school does start - their boys are already a level or two ahead of their pac competition. same with jv -varsity , they put similar work in 7 on 7 and 11 on 11 all off season. More than most schools. GS fans have expected this yrs “super team” to be super back when they were in 6th grade…so GS people and some of us at HH and other PAC schools knew this was the team!! GS needs to be fired up now and enjoy… as when Allen heads off to Purdue… they won’t be as good as this current team… as not every player will be a Brady Allen! They will still be good going forward, that’s because GS built a solid program. GS has only won 3 sectionals and 3 regionals … with their last coming like 6 years ago… so if I were on this team, or a fan at this school, I’d be going crazy too, as this team has the ability to get to Lucas Oil for a State Title game…. Something GS has never been a part of In Football. And if they do make it, I will be pulling for them… they have worked hard as a program to get to this point. GS only makes other schools get better. we have heard this for years at HH (that playing HH made teams) as from 2000 to 2010, HH had won 9 sectionals and 7 regional championships. HH then fell on the downside for quite a few years then fell short in semistate in 2014 and got back to State in 2019…. GS is on the right path, this is their year… and if my Patriots can’t knock them off in the sectionals… I will be pulling for GS … they deserve !

We will have the seeding debate and the all in vs Ohio playoff method debate as well. My answers are all in tournament and either seed it all or seed the top 4 teams in 8 team Sectionals and top 2 in 4 team Sectionals with random draw of which non-seeded team they face. Of course that leads to neutral site regional and semi states debate. I like the idea of neutral site, but it's not a deal breaker that they aren't. Short answer: maybe more discussion on here again!

Always is. As a follower of 6A and 5a football mainly, I miss the days of 8 team sectionals. The draw was always so exciting to see. Always had chances of new matchups and different schools traveling to different places. You just don't get that anymore. It is the same teams and same sectionals year in and year ou.

Hear hear! I have NO DOUBT in my mind that if he was HEALTHY and behind center against Warsaw and Concord, the Cavemen win both of those games. That is no disrespect to his younger brother who has played well himself, but Justin is a stud and the perfect athlete to run that style of offense. Would love to see Mishawaka and Concord battle for a Sectional 10 championship this year with Justin at the helm.

Here’s the Rule: “Illegal equipment shall always include but is not limited to: “2. Slippery or sticky substance of a foreign nature on equipment, towel, uniform, opponent or on an exposed part of the body which affects the ball or an opponent.” I have never heard an official interpretation of this situation. But for me, a leather treatment that is recommended and provided by the manufacturer is not “foreign.”

Ehhh maybe. Brady has already put on 40 or so pounds in HS. He was so thin as a freshman. Sure he could put on 15 quick pounds but from what it seems he has been slowly adding the weight the right way. his size is fine though…I mean for context, Justin Herbert entered the NFL at 235 and Trevor Lawrence entered at 215 (two other QBs who stand in the 6’5/6’6 area) So I think Purdue will likely just keep him going on what he is currently doing….but certainly no rush to put on 15-20 Lbs in a year.

But this score is 9 points from national news and LB coach and AD both being in hot water… and they probably should be. No excuse for this imo. Take a knee. I’m now the biggest Gibson Southern fan in the state. Hope the throttle LB by 50.

After facing the harshest punishment, deservedly so, a program can face, they are once again a top 5 team. Michigan State seems to be a much more competitive team after a few years of battling on about the same level as IU. If someone says those programs have more tradition, I say you have to go pretty far back to find it; to a point that young kids will not make it a consideration. So true Irish...I remember going to an IU vs Wisconsin game at Memorial Stadium as a kid back in the Corso years and IU shut out Wisconsin 24-0. Wisconsin's best attribute back then was the marching band they brought with them. Alvarez really changed the culture of that program.

I refer to this often, and saw this ad this weekend. Look at how empty Camp Randall is for a home game in the clips. Wisconsin was a regular cellar dweller with IU for a lot of years. So, what did Alvarez do? he permanently fixed the trajectory of the program. Sure they are down, but no one here doubts they will be better soon, right? So, what is it that he was able to do that IU is missing? This is a great point. We sure do spend a lot of time talking about a program that has won 3 Regionals in the past 25+ years........maybe they'll get over the hump this year.....who knows.

Not defending them or calling you out, but if you are going to say things like classless and call out coaches character, might want to provide some context. I can understand not wanting to name any individuals that may be high school aged, but with no details it just sounds like sour grapes.

There's a whole lotta unnecessary salt in this thread. Being new to the league, I'm of the opinion that come playoff time I wanna see all the PAC schools go as far as they possibly can. How exciting would it be for the conference to see a team like GS represent us on the biggest stage in the state? Just as Heritage Hills did back in 19 and Southridge in 17.

Well, I guess they decided if they're gonna let coaches overturn calls from the sideline, they'll let 'em overturn the rules too.

Some additional facts that Cow Bell didn’t include. I was at the game Friday night. When it was 77-0 with 1:30 to go in 1st half and Lburg got the ball back after another Rushville fumble, they could have knelt on it and went to half up 77. First play, they rolled QB out and threw back across field for a screen play, which went for TD butwas called back due to penalty. Lburg scored next play. 2nd half, Lburg did continue to throw the ball with their younger players and did go for it on multiple fourth downs. I would call those three things over the top and more than trying to just get the game over. I will leave everyone else to judge that with their own opinion. That is Coach Knigga’s decision to make and he has built a hell of a program. Honestly, the score could have been worse and it could have been managed to be a little bit more eye appealing to people, but the game was never going to be close. I actually expected a score of around 70-0. With that said, you won’t hear much crying from this poster. It’s our job to get better at Rushville. We are in the cusp of a rebuild that will take multiple years. We have a new young coach willing to work hard. New weight room opened 3 years ago and he has best numbers in weight room we have seen in years and the progression in the last 12 months in there has been astronomical. JV has won 2 games for first time in several years as well. 7th grade team is very competitive. Varsity was dealt a tough blow in week 1 when 3 year starting QB and 3 year staring center were lost for the season with injuries. Friday night they played without I believe 5 additional starters including leading rusher and best defensive player. Could it have been handed better? Definitely. But there was no reason to not play the game.

The “5 seconds” comment was exaggeration. He had it for a long time though and even though he already had the first down he decided to reach for it anyways and ball came out on the reach well after the catch.

Coach Nowlins used to check in here before he got his new job. I toad people to stop bashing the Ramblers a couple weeks ago. I’ll rip out a karate artery if I have to. I’ve been here long enough to know the rumor rule. But the fact remains some coaches resigned in the middle of week 7. And I know what happened. I swear to God I do.

Quit starting these threads hopefully rushville uses this as motivation to get better as a program. also Hanover was up 69-6 at half over whiting, I was hoping Hanover would keep bringing it to teach whiting a lesson.

I ate food from the Parke Heritage concession stand and it made me crap in my pants by the end of the 1st quarter. When the Wolfs scored the first touchdown of the game, the fireworks display overstimulated me and the poop came cascading out like hot buttered lard through a sieve. It was a steamy August evening, perfect weather for wearing shorts. There were a couple of kids playing under the bleachers beneath me. The sounds of their confused and disgusted screams will haunt me for all of my earthly days.

I know not football, but I was at the 1A/4A boy's basketball semi-state this past year at Lafayette Jeff and IMSC, they had the pop on tap. It was glorious.

Not to be political but we can ban plastic starws because they are bad for the environment. Let's ban plastic soda bottles at sporting events and give me my 100% recyclable paper cups! Plus I'm sure with all them chemicals released from the plastic into my drink is what is making me FAT. 🙄

My spouse, who has in-laws living in the Cincinnati area, raves about this stuff and has to go a Skyline whenever we visit. I don't see the appeal.

I haven't seen this at a high school football concession stand in probably 20 years. Must be going to the wrong schools. Anybody have a list of what schools still do this? Oh, and just for Coke. Pepsi is an abomination. State Law.
