If the ultimate goal is to increase revenues, then stagger the games so everyone could attend all sectional games. Play one on Thursday night, one on Friday night and two on Saturday (afternoon and evening). Then people could attend ALL the sectional games and the revenue would increase significantly. Right? And you also solve the officiating shortage by making it possible for crews to work multiple games. There you go. Revenue problem solved!

You’re a good dude. Heard this “blah…blah” legalistic stuff before….sorry. Still….not buying. Even 30 some odd years post law school I can still flog most any position enthusiastically. Still, some things are to obvious to ignore….and, yet, someone will always validate them. Sectional 28 ALONE tells me everything I EVER needed to know as regards the IHSAA and fairness (specifically as regards Catholic schools) in Sectional pairings. After that, everything else is smoke, mirrors and ABSOLUTE BS. Not that Bobby Cox has anything to do with things these days but I shared a Butler U track locker room with him roughly 40 years ago. No way he is drilling down the way you just did. Again…Sectional 28 says it all. In Indy, Chatard, Cathedral and Roncalli will be paired whenever and wherever possible….PERIOD. We accept it….but we expect folks to not blow smoke up our posteriors and tell us it’s somehow fair.

Former All State HS Center from Bishop Chatard Danny Godlevske is making a big impact for the 5-0 Oklahoma State Cowboys. Danny, a former player and graduate of the Miami of Ohio Redhawks is using his final year of eligibility for OK State. He immediately was moved into the starting center position on the OL and is playing really well. His experience is really helping out the O line and the Cowboy rushing attack. OSU is off this Saturday and next week play at Texas for a big conference game. The Cowboys have knocked off Kansas State and Baylor in consecutive weeks. If you get the chance, tune into some Cowboy games and watch a true master of his craft. Stay healthy #51 and keep driving forward Danny!!! Making the Hoosier State proud!

CG is a different animal so we have to put competitive in context. Maybe they will find a positive in losing by 5 TDs instead of 7.

Perfectly legal. I'll see your blocked punt and raise you two blocked punts, in the same play, by two different punters, with the same blocker ... and a score for the blocking team. Saw this one in real life with LCC and RCHS almost a decade ago ... to the detriment of LCC.

Upset alert - Seeger 18 SV 6. Down 12-6 with the ball and 3:14 to play, the D1’s throw a pick 6. I’ll stand corrected on my assumption the wheels were coming off of Seeger. Kuddos to that staff for pulling it together and getting what appears to be a nice win.

Columbus North 55 Bloomington North 19 (final) The running clock mercifully brought this game to an end. CN was playing several reserves at the end. Congratulations to the Bulldogs for winning the CI crown. There is a possibility that CN and Bloom. South could tie for the crown, but it would entail CN losing to TH South to end the regular season, and if anyone thinks that will happen, I would like to sell them the Brooklyn Bridge and I will throw in the Lincoln Tunnel.

No one expects them to get past CG if they meet, but how competitive CN is in that game will be a measuring stick on their improvement as the season went on. However, a loss is the end of the season, so it would be little consolation if they are competitive in that game.

Gonna be at that Harrison-Kokomo game tonight. Should be a good one.

Life ain't always fair! Why do we spend so much time every year having this same discussion? We are never all going to see it the same way. High School football, or any high school sports for that matter, was not meant to be a profit stream, was it? We probably can't even agree on that. Some think it is for entertainment purposes, bragging rights, teaching young men and women about working as a team and acheiving goals, etc. If it is to help prepare them for life and how to acheive goals and overcome obstacles, then lets make it as REAL LIFE as we can. Eliminate all classes in all sports and let there be one champion each year. Enough of this leveling the playing field and making it fair. When I wake up every morning I dont want or need the government or any other entity to help me succeed. I compete every single day against big companies, little individuals, and everyone in between. I have to scrape, dig, strive to compete and get better. At the end of the day there is only one person to blame if I fail and there is only one person to pat on the back if I succeed, me. That's life and it ain't fair, but the one that overcomes gets the prize. Now let's go enjoy some football just for the pure pleasure of seeing kids compete.

I don't have a verifiable media source, but I'm gonna try to make me some picks. The Rambler Wreck falls to the Rebel Yells. The North Vermillions stampede the Moostangs. The Woofs beat the Parkes. If these schools consolidate, would they be called Parke Parke or Parke Squared? I hear the South Vermillions have them some D1s. Well I have some oceanfront property on the Wabash I'll sell you. They still beat the Pete Seegers, coached by Peter, Paul and Mary these days. The Trojans bust all over the Cavaliers. What a sticky mess. To me, a QB throwing for 1,000 yards in this conference is like beating up on some mediocre middle school kids. 100% - we get it Mr. X - some sectionals are loaded while others are not. We have that issue down here as well believe it or not (here's looking at you Sectional 30) ...but like 32 said, let's just fix the most simple one first.

Yeah an interesting Freshman schedule for sure @NRRaider2001 this year. Warsaw's team beat Wawasee 28-0 last night to move to 8-0 on the season. I know it is hard to truly predict future success, but both middle schools and the Freshman teams are having solid seasons and all levels of Tiger football are running "Bart Ball" and have been for 4 years now. Really excited to see the potential of what "could be" the next 5 years or so.

Penn went from 1985 to 2009ish without losing a conference game.

Great freshman game last night as the North Huskies prevail over the Jasper Wildcats 34-28 in 2 overtimes to win conference title. I believe both teams were undefeated in conference.

I haven't listened to a game by them in a few years . But I do hear the wgcl guys every season no matter what at some point usually during the bhsn bhss game say that they don't like it when south dominates north and that everyone wants a more competitive even series..... they're probably on the school board also and the reason why so many neighborhoods in souths historic districts are now at North so it can be fair and everyone gets a trophy type of people. Makes me sick .... 😫 lol. Anyways I will also say that wgcl guys continually even when south isn't playing against North will call the Panthers the Cougars or call them bloomington north. They did it last Friday at columbus they referred to souths sideline as the cougar sideline or bench . And I love Joe Smith to pieces but he is really losing it innhisbild age he makes several.mistakes every game .

Blow everything up!! Start a new NSC 2 divisions in football, one all other sports. Get Glenn, Rochester, Valley, Bremen, Fairfield, Wawasee. Then LaVille, Triton, Pioneer, Winamac, Judson, Knox. Let Caston and Culver join Midwest. Wawasee is not competitive in the NLC, but they will never leave that cash cow.

I am in the process of preparing an initial post for a thread that explores this subject in great detail. Let me just preview that here by saying that it is impossible to design a system that works well, if at all, unless you can clearly articulate the goals you want the system to achieve. So, when assessing the present system, you first have to ask “what are we trying to accomplish here?” The answers may not be as obvious as you might think.

Sectional 28, the Sectional of Death, is also known as the IHSAA Catholic Invitational. About four or five years ago, the Pope made West Lafayette, despite the Red Devil mascot, honorary Catholics and the IHSAA confirmed it by making sure they were paired with their "fellow Catholics." You just knew Chatard was going in the same sectional with Roncalli when they moved up. Sectional 22 is the IHSAA Catholic Invitational Lite. I'm just surprised they didn't find a way to squeeze Memorial and South Bend St. Joe into that sectional. Might have been "too obvious" if that happened.

Lots of judgement involved in this play and a fuzzy video from a bad angle. I can't tell exactly where the ball is snapped but based on the near wide out I'm going to say it's probably about the B9. The first thing to look at is the contact between the slot receiver and DB. The first question is that contact is in the neutral zone or close? If it it's in the neutral zone it's legal regardless of who initiated contact. If it's beyond and you determine the defense initiated it, then there is no foul. But in this situations the receivers are always suspect because the receiver is trying to create separation however subtly. And especially in this case it's obvious that's what he would want to do because they throw to the back who receives the pass in the area this defender may have covered. The ball appears to be caught near the B8 which is about a yard beyond the assumed LOS. Only the LJ is going to be able to rule on that. Since the B threw a flag I assume he felt the receiver initiated the contact downfield and the pass was caught beyond the LOS. He would need help from the LJ who should provide information on the location of the block (if he saw it) and definitely on the location of the pass in regards to the LOS. This is where the other part of your comment becomes relevant. The fact he came on to the field and was not on the goal line when the runner got close to hit hurts his credibility. It's very likely he didn't notice where the pass was caught and where the block took place. OPI is definitely a supportable call based on the information provided, but as I said there are several combinations of judgement here. Ultimately that is what the officials are paid to do and they applied that judgement here. It's not an absolutely right or wrong call. He has to make the best call based on what he sees and the information provided by others.

Didn't see the article. I mean, it's the Battle of the Bishops...........it's big. I just think Snider/Dwenger is bigger most years. Two larger schools with SAC implications on the line.

Mostly because the #1 or #2 team is done after week 1, but the 0-9 team who got a favorable draw gets to play another week. It's one thing if it happens on the field due to an upset. It's another if a 2 or 3 win team makes it to the sectional final because their side of the bracket had all 2 or 3 win teams. For very selfish reasons it's disappointing to get assigned to a sectional final game with a 9-2 team traveling to a 2-9 team. It's likely no fans will be there and you'll have a running clock in the second half. Where else besides Indiana high school sports are teams randomly assigned to opponent and location in a post-season tournament? Explain this to someone not from Indiana and they will think you are crazy and making it up. It's not logical. But it is what it is, and I'll be happy to get any tournament assignment I can get.

Should just have all the coaches from a regional vote on seeding. Seed it 1-4 and then random draw the other 12 for the matchups. people get caught up on sectionals but forget that half of the frustration is that some sectionals are loaded and others are rather light. Might as well just break it up into groups of 16 teams seeding by regional also gives the tournament plenty of variance for year to year matchups.
