  4. They, being Bishop Luers High School, are just lucky to have a stadium of any description. Back in the 1960's and 1970's the Athlete's (Football) Father's Club had set up a fund raising program for just this purpose. On Sunday evenings after Sunday evenings for many a year, these dads hosted card parties (that's Catholic slang for BINGOS) in the school cafeteria. The Mungovan Family helped out from day one, so also did Thomas 'TUCK' Tone, and many others of that time. At one time the school principal wanted the raised funds to be turned in to the school's general fund, but the Club President, did not capitulate, and continued to keep all of the funding separate. Eventually the very basic stadium was constructed, and with repurposed stadium lighting from some baseball park, which the club had purchased, and relocated. Now I'm sure some of my details are sketchy. So, someone has mor information about this very old project, be my guest and have at it.

  5. After listening to the guys on Fox sports radio 106.7 last night. I am going to have to go with Mt. Vernon in the slight upset victory.

  6. I'm not knocking Forest Park. They are by far my favorite team in Dubois County. I just thought it was funny to hear Coach Goebel make it sound as if its going to be a nip and tuck battle for 4 quarters. Maybe I'm way off, but I suspect the game will be close early and then MD will take over.

  9. The SIAC outperformed Sagarin expectations in non-conference games by 104 pts. One year ago they outperformed expectations by 90 pts in round one and that resulted in a 11 pt rating bump per team on average.

  10. My thoughts exactly...

  11. I mean regardless of sagarin…going undefeated in the SIAC in a year when Mater Dei, Castle and Memorial are all great…any team that does that is going to be a great team regardless of what computers say This certainly won’t help the SIAC on sagarin though

  16. This is so true. I've been gone close to 30 years but find this forum to be the one remaining connection I have to Indiana (although now my oldest daughter is a Freshmen at Indiana so I guess there are two!).

  17. Wayne will be fine tonight as long as Carroll's 59-0 pasting last week doesn't affect them mentally. It's not their fault they are in the third best conference in the state.

  21. Not much discussion about Nk and S Spencer. I was pleased to see the Warriors went to Paoli and came out with a big W. I think the Rebels going to Tell City and getting a road win was big for them too. I think North Posey and Mater Dei have running clocks unless starters are pulled early. Good Luck to all... and let's really hope everyone can get through tonight without injury.

  23. According to Tabak's C.Y.A. letter, "EcoHealth failed to report this finding right away, as was required by the terms of the grant. EcoHealth is being notified that they have five days from today to submit to NIH any and all unpublished data from the experiments and the work conducted under this award." Given that the COVID-19 coronavirus apparently emerged in the city where NIH-funded research to enhance the infectivity of such viruses was taking place, why did it take so long for top NIH bureaucrats to get around to asking EcoHealth and the Wuhan Institute of Virology to disclose exactly what they were up to? And now a "C.Y.A." letter comes to light by someone wanting to C their A.......So the NIH position appears to be "we didn't know". LOL- WUT? Which is worse? That our NIH really "didn't know" or that they DID know, but covertly covered this up since the summer of 2019?

  24. That was then, and this is now, right? Last year is old news. Just saying they seem to have an easier path than Westfield. I do know Elkhart played Merrillville tough in the regional last year...so who knows? Never said an easier path guarantees a semi-state victory......but it does seem the Pirates have an easier journey than the Shamrocks.

  25. Man, not a single person on this entire thread thinks there is any possibility at all of Brownstown Central beating Lawrenceburg? Not even a long shot? If my calculations, and guesses of winners are correct, I think we would get LB at home this year? Week 1 - BC and LB both Home Week 2 - BC at Batesville, LB hosts Charlestown Week 3 - LB at BC

  30. 2017 - Thought Eastbrook was easily best team in 2A. Thought they'd win state. They choked against Woodlan in semistate. 2018 - Thought they were about the 3rd best team in 2A (behind Western Boone and Tipton) and that turned out to be the case. Actually thought they blew a good opportunity in the state game with the onside kick to open the 2nd half. Just horrible. 2019 - Exceeded my expectations that year. That team maxed out their potential, if not exceeded it, and I was glad to see it. 2020 - After being assured by you that Eastbrook was way better than they were in 2019, I thought they'd at least win sectional since they went to state the year before. Needless to say, they fell short of expectations last year. 2021 - Just read my comments here. Said I thought they'd be undefeated through the regular season. Granted, it didn't really take Nostradamus to make that prediction if you looked at how terrible their schedule is, but that does mean that I've been on point so far this season. Yes, there was a time I'd get on the prediction threads and pick Eastbrook to lose to everyone like Elwood and other crap CIC teams because it was amusing to watch you lose your mind about it but I did not actually think they were going to lose those games. Did I "hope" they'd lose some of them they didn't? That's probably accurate. There's been numerous instances where I thought things were handled inappropriately within their athletic department and I tend not to cheer for people who I think do the wrong things.

  32. Mississienwa is a young team. Starting several sophomores and a few freshman. They are big up front and have even bigger players on the sideline. Opening game Senior QB had a season ending injury in the opening game of the season and the Sophomore QB that replaced him was playing wide out. They are coming together and may surprise Leo in the Regional. Leo may be the team to beat in the North based on record however their closest game of the season was against East Noble with a final score of 40-32. East Noble may surprise Leo in the Sectional game. Leo and Mississinewa can both score in bunches as they both appear to have high power offenses with lots of weapons. Their opponents records are very similar as are the scores of the games. If these two end up playing for the Regional title, it will be a good game. It will come down to turnovers and defense. The North bracket is pretty wide open and Mississinewa, Leo, Hobart, and East Noble are the teams that stand out to be playing Thanksgiving weekend. Chatard has history on their side. They are 4A because of success factor. They will struggle this year and next then go back down to 3A where they will win State titles again then be moved back up to 4A. This is the trend that they have. Mooresville may surprise people in the South but Roncalli is the team to beat in the South. Also in the South East Central, Jasper, and Mount Vernon may pose a threat to Roncalli. I would say the South bracket is a toss up. Many of the 4A teams still play a number of players both sides of the ball a lot. It will be a fun class to watch to see who comes out on top. Good luck to all teams this week and throughout the tournament. If teams can stay injury free there could be a few upsets over the next few weeks.

  38. I'll eat crow if this backfires but Tri County, Frontier, North White and West Central are awful. Attica is terrible. Culver is way more battle tested by playing Pioneer, North Judson, Winamac and LaVille. Culver is big, physical and can control the clock via their offense. I could see this be a Culver win by 3 TDs.
