There were some misses...there usually always is. But YG and his crew did a heck of a job. I can only see a couple of misses when having the benefit of watching the replay, sometimes several times. Crews are making those calls in real time and doing a great job. I also loved the way YG had control of the game...authoritative as he should be, but very positive...positive with the players and coaches. Easy to tell he is a former player that has a passion for this game. The players and the fans are very fortunate to have crews like YG's calling games...and especially the big ones!! Very proud of my fellow Lutheran!!! Salute to you YG!!

It’s not a “problem” of any kind. There are certain admission standards. They are higher than NCAA standards. Some players meet NCAA standards, but not ND’s standards. ND can’t recruit those players. Some of those players are very good. That’s it in a nutshell.

I think it’s more about move-ins or transfers for academic reasons. Maybe we need a high school transfer portal. That way there’s no BS lies from parents and programs about how or why a kid ended up in a new program for their senior season. JMO.

Agree...some of my HH friends who super excited about their freshman and 8th and 7th grade classes need to be very worried about the GS kids in those same clases. Very worried.

I get your sentiment with these posts and Brady Allen is a terrific QB. I do have one question have you watched much of Caden Curry (aside from State Championship games the last 3 years)? He definitely has been a catalyst of Center Grove's defense being dominant the last 3 years. I won't deny there have been other very good defensive players for CG over the last 3 years (like Booker). Just keep in mind his presence even when he isn't the one making a tackle has drawn double and triple team opening up TFL's for LB's or other D-lineman. There is a reason Curry is recruited by the P5 schools he is and he is a freakish big athlete. He may not win the award because of the way QB, RB, or WR stats are looked at compared to a defensive lineman. Curry though is extremely impressive and shouldn't be downplayed. He is 100% deserving of Mr. Football award as is Brady Allen. I would bet Allen will win due to Offensive stats. It is what it is when it comes to these awards. I am definitely curious to see where Curry chooses to play Alabama, Clemson, or Ohio State (I personally feel it will be Ohio State but that is just a hunch I have), but it is a testament to his ability that he is getting looked at by all of those schools.

If both coaches Tomlin and Carroll (assuming they were both college coaches and my son actually played football and was good enough to play at that level) were recruiting my son, I’d have ZERO issue with him playing for Coach Tomlin. Would LOVE it! Coach Carroll? Not a chance.

I understand full well how good of a coach Brian Kelly is. He will get his championship at LSU. But the chance of Notre Dame getting one first in the next three years is higher than LSU. BK is a good coach. However, people have been pointing at his character flaws for 12 years now. I turned a blind eye to them as he continued to put winning football teams on the field. I'm now seeing those flaws myself. A guy like Brian Kelly leaving Notre Dame doesn't prove that Notre Dame isn't one of the Top 5 jobs in the country. Try another factor, like recruiting restrictions. Count Penn State out until they hire a new head coach.

I said job, not program. Saban is Alabama. Does anyone not remember the 4 coaches Bama hired before Saban? Alabama high school talent isn;t on par with Florida, Georgia, or Louisiana and they have another major in-state conference opponent to compete with. Same thing with Notre Dame. People don't realize just how good of a coach Brian Kelly actually is. I'd agree that Notre Dame may be the most rewarding job, but it's definitely not one of the top 5 jobs in college football. Their coach just left for LSU.....

I agree. To play devil's advocate though, until North was built a few years ago, EVSC high schools did not have Jr Highs associated with an individual high school. Thanks to district lines and bussing (also antiquated, IMO) students who went to Washington MS could end up living within Reitz, North, or Bosse HS districts. And don't even get me started on the K-8 structure of the Diocesan schools. Let's just say there's a reason the word 'parochial' can have a negative connotation in some uses.

Admissions. Notre Dame just isn't going to take a flight risk on a kid they don't think can graduate.

I believe these are the most important factors that go into best job in the country: -Recruiting base -Competition in said recruiting base -Resources/budget/facilities -Path to national title (conference/division) -miscellaneous items such as history/tradition/ Thought long and heard about this and in my opinion the top 5 jobs in college football (remember this is job only, not current program standing) 1. Georgia-Georgia produces tremendous football talent; flagship university in-state with no conference rival; Georgia Tech only P5 competition but don't directly compete with recruits. Georgia is the one SEC program who in the last 5 years have gone toe to toe in recruiting with Saban. 2. USC-Located in one of the largest metropolitan areas in the world and access to a huge local recruiting network; Great history and tradition. Doesn't have any direct competition for local recruits among elite college football programs. Weaker conference sets up for easier path to CFB 3. Ohio State-largest and most passionate fan base in the country; storied tradition; have the ability to recruit nationally as well as being the premier football program above the mason-dixon line 4. Florida-On paper hard to argue against it being the best job; Flagship university in the best state for high school talent. Only drawback is competing directly with in-state schools like Miami and FSU as well the other elite SEC schools looking to poach Florida talent 5. Texas- program has been a disaster since they forced Mack Brown into retirement but you won't convince me that Texas can't be an elite program with the right coach; Endless resources and deep pockets galore in Austin, huge recruiting base, etc

I totally get your story and have heard it several times, it can certainly work out that way. That said, Dave Mosbey has some crazy stats in the PAC regarding the comparison of 8th grade success in our conference (PAC) vs senior year. It's in the 90's percentile wise if memory serves. So, although it doesn't matter (and everyone agrees it doesn't), if it were a stock it would be a great way to hedge your bet.

Please take no offense to this because it shouldn't downplay Brady Allen's success or play. As painful as it is to agree he is correct on the strength of schedule. While Sagarin does not include South Warren in SOS, Calpreps does. Only 3 of the top 10 5A teams had a lesser SOS than Gibson Southern (Castle, Mishawaka, and Valpo) 11 out of top 25. It is given by the Indianapolis Star as an award, but the IFCA Ratings Board selects the finalists and all Coaches vote for the winner (if they turn in their ballot). While Indystar awards it they aren't actually the ones casting the vote.

My memory isn't that good, but I would disagree with any Memorial fan who said that. To me it doesn't reflect the mentality of our program. But everyone is entitled to their opinion. As for Jay/Brady, with very few exceptions, most teams need a few extra special players to win at state. Look no further than this year where each of the winning teams seemed to have a guy who was clearly the best player on the field. That's definitely what helped us get as far as did in 2017-2019. I don't see the IHSAA ever implementing an automatic bump for p/p schools, but I know many have a similar opinion. Personally, I think both sides can make valid arguments for & against. I wish we were still in 3A, but its only because the post-season rivalries were a whole heck of a lot more fun than in 4A. I doubt we'll ever have the depth to win 4A again, but I think we'll be good enough to earn enough points to stay up. For my money, Sectional 32 from 2013 to 2018 was one of the most exciting in the state. Good teams with passionate fan bases made for a lot of fun.

In three years, Hopefully GS is standing in that path....sectional 32 will be exciting.

Both Sagarin and CalPreps have Gibson Southern as the 9th ranked Indiana HS football team All Classes. To my knowledge, over the last 10 or so years, only one other 3A school has been able to break into the Top 10 All Classes. Say what you want, but that tells me that GS is a very rare and special 3A team.

So there is not likely to be any sort of “endpoint” as Fauci would define it. COVID-19 is endemic and will likely be here for quite a long time. Making sacrifices for a few months to a year is a lot different from living a certain way for many years, or even decades. Policy-makers should get out of the way, and people should live their lives not as if they are one variant or one booster away from the end of COVID-19, but as if COVID-19 is here forever.

Sure Steele was a major reason CG won last year. I am sure Allen required great players around him as well to win a title. He didn't do it alone. Steele also didn't play defense. Bottom line, Curry was a major reason that CG went to the State Title game 3 years in a row, winning 2 of them. He's a major reason CG has went 28-0 over the past 2 seasons, playing 6A and MIC competition. Allen has 1 title and level of competition doesn't come close. Not his fault, it just is what it is. Look, Allen will most likely win. Mr. Football has shown us all but once, the award goes to an offensive player and QB's really stand out. Votes like stats and the flash. My guess is that politically, they do not want to give this award to the same high school 2 years in a row. But when it comes to an ALL-AROUND FOOTBALL PLAYER, there is no comparison. Curry plays both sides of the ball and several special teams, including the teams long snapper. You saw in the state title game, when CG needed a yard or 2, who got the ball...a defensive player. Curry played the wing several times laying some crushing blocks. I think you can rest easy. Indiana Mr. Football is much like the Heisman. Its really about the state's best offensive player...not best all-around player.

I built a tool to make building a lift training schedules for a football team easy and hassle free. You can create a training templates for different athletes or positions to use on your team, track 1RM progress for each athlete, and generate some analytics on the team's performance. My goal was to eliminate the need to ever use a spreadsheet again. Keeping up with each athlete’s 1RM for each lift, how to use excel/google sheets formulas, and tracking and maintaining the data is really annoying. Normally, that would require altering a ton of spreadsheets, finding data on each athlete’s lift, inputting that data into each spreadsheet, making sure the formulas are working properly, and then distributing that schedule to each athlete. Any time you want to make a change to the schedule, you have to do it all over again. Instead, I thought it would be a lot more convenient to reduce this down to two steps. (1) Create a few custom training plans that can be assigned to athletes and tweaked in real time. (2) Input the 1RM for each athlete’s lift. Well, not the ending we wanted but a great game, nonetheless. Both Defenses showed their strength and, in the end, a fumble deep in MD territory turned the tide. #34, Bowen was the best player on the field. He took the game over in the 2nd half, leading Andrean to a well earned victory. Congrats to the 59'ers. As for the Wildcats, not the end result we wanted but so very proud of the team & its overall effort Saturday. The Defense came to play and the Offense gave it their best but came up short against an equally strong Andrean defense. I knew Andrean would be bigger in some areas but it seemed every player at every position had about 20 lbs on us. 💪 In the end, we came up a little short but we could not be more proud of the team and the overall season! Thanks to this awesome group of Seniors: Tyler Martin, James Ralph, Nicholas, Boots, Eli McDurmon, Will Carter, Cole & Dane Wilson, Pierce Wolters, Bryce Humphrey, JT Mayer, Calvin Stratman, Ryan VanBibber, Luke Burgdorf, Jay Schiff, Nathan Koressel, Colin Maurer, Mason Eichoff, & Landon Elpers... Kyle Park was one of the best regarded assistant coaches in the HCC (Zionsville) before he took the Goshen job. Goshen did little to nothing in regards to coaching hires. You can’t build a 5A program with a staff made up of mostly lay coaches, and small few full time contract people in the building. I can’t imagine how anyone who knows football thinks you are going to get a better candidate. Anyone who knows football knows the admin is doing nothing to support the program in the way of getting coaches hired. You aren’t going to “build” numbers in 5A program when you have so few coaches teaching in the building. Firing Coach Park was a way to put the blame on someone else, when the admins won’t put the effort into the program. They fired the best candidate they were going to get.
