Only worked sectional games and have never been told we had to throw out anything that isn't Wilson. The information shared from the bulletin is always how I've understood it. WIlsons are recommended but not required the first three rounds.

Illinois mandates all playoff games on Saturday between 1 and 7pm unless BOTH teams agree on a switch to Friday to eliminate gamesmanship. *cough MD/Triton Central * cough I would be ok with Indiana doing the same with regional and SS rounds.

Unfortunately all Big schools don't cross over and play all small schools. Only HH kept their schedule pretty much intact still electing to play Tell City, NP, etc. The only one GS plays is SR.

Most of the Indianapolis TV stations don't even have sports segments any more. You don't see the Indians, Fuel or Fever reported about on TV. It's sad.

I always thought his magic came from getting the most out of his top athletes by having them play both sides of the ball. Think about the math. If your best players are playing on both sides of the ball, then you are probably playing the quality of football that a school double your size plays with............for at least a half anyway. Most teams that do that tend to wear down in the second half, but NP never seemed to. You could be on point regarding a run in talent. A good program remains good if they are playing within their weight class. But if you are playing teams that have clear advantages like enrollment or socioeconomic advantages, then you are probably at the mercy of that talent "run" just to stay towards the top. Case in point: For decades Snider managed to to be a Top 5 program every 4-5 years.........like clockwork. That was due to them playing schools twice their enrollment. Every 4-5 years they had that talent run that could compete with the mega schools.

Combo of both? Definitely had some very good talent his first couple years and then even more so during the recent run, but Ralph is one of the best coaches in the entire state either way. Even last year in a 'down' year they still won sectionals and played Cathedral tough in the regional. You don't win over 100 games before you lose 10 for no reason.

I think with some of the stadiums in the state neutral sights would be a great idea - with turf. Some fields are so beaten up by the end of sectional they should not play a tournament game on such a field

Right! Didn't anyone play NCAA Football 2014 before it went away. It was almost impossible to become one of the Top 3 programs with territory over Indiana (as I recall). I'm glad to see the game coming back next year. Good times.

Agreed, but does Decatur Central deserve the level respect? I have the upmost respect for the Mid State and enjoy the top to bottom competitiveness of the conference; however, it's not the Hoosier Crossroads or MIC. IMO, those are the leagues along with Chatard and Cathedral that have earned the central Indy bias.

Ohio has done it throughout the playoffs for years. I have sort of grown fond of the neutral venue. However limit it to regional and semi state. Seed the sectionals fully or top half minimal. Indiana does it right with the all in tournament though!

In fairness, I think homers shouldn't be plural. It has been and currently is one homer who drinks the purple kool-aid. Speaking of DC, is Stevens playing QB? I see he committed to Virginia Tech as a LB.

I agree with this post. DC is definitely a contender. I would put Whiteland in there as well. Merrillville isn't going to have the cake walk that all the Merrillville homers think they will have.

Every year as we get past the sectional, people moan and groan about driving distances for the regionals and semistates. Neutral sites can cut those driving distances in half, in addition to providing better venues. It’s disappointing when two really good teams play a high stakes game at a subpar facility.

Let’s go back to the original question…….does ANYONE plan on using those footballs in a varsity game??? Hopefully you still have a few of last years left. I personally will take footballs out of the trophy case first. I’m sorry but they are not a good substitution for Wilson’s.

I think this was a complete joke and publicity stunt for the Mayor's office to say they made a pitch to keep the Bears in Chicago. Yes, the same Mayor who said less than a year ago the Bears needed to focus on winning and not be asking for a better stadium. The Bears are currently in contract negotiations to purchase the old Arlington Race Track in Arlington Heights. They're not leaving that negotiation table to discuss a new stadium with the city. ESPECIALLY, a stadium that the Chicago Parks Department will own and operate and still not be in the Top 10 attendance wise. The Bears can just build their own larger stadium in Arlington Heights and control all revenue. The other major elephant in the room is that a facelift to Soldier Field doesn't take away the fact it is in a very bad location. The parking is limited. It's basically sandwiched between Lake Shore Drive, a Museum, and McCormick's Place. It's not fan friendly at all to walk to. In Arlington Heights the Bears can build a full entertainment district like the one in Foxboro.

For many years the Wilson A9011 has been the ball used in the softball tournament for as long as I can remember, so at the start of every season I ordered a buttload of Wilson A9011’s. I never had an issue.

The IHSAA does not provide balls for Sectionals, that is correct. SO if you get that far now you have to switch balls?

Pretty sure you don't have to use the Wilson ball until Regional round. Regional is the level at which the IHSAA sends each team one ball to use for the tournament.

That is what I do not understand, why use a different ball than the one you would use come playoff time. Was told that we have this ball and so does our entire conference teams as well.

Team Issue is made by Big Game USA. Big Game makes all of the Nike and Adidas balls for college programs if I'm not mistaken. I think Team Issue is their "in-house brand". I've been intrigued by them in the past, but have never tried them out. Double check with an official, but I'm pretty sure that we are only allowed to use Wilson footballs come sectional time.
