Lots of talk on here about Carroll's dream season, but this was a dream season for HSE as well. One of those years where you ask "if we can't win with the team have this year, when will we ever win it?" That's a hard pill to swallow. Seeing how dejected the Snider kids were last night made me think of the HSE kids. Sports can be utterly heartbreaking.6 points

Gibson Southern loses to Owen Valley and this guy wants to cry about Chatard. Classic5 points

Yea, I don’t even know what most of that shit means, the bottom line is, you’re turning your shit in on Monday, and Center Grove is responsible.5 points

Please God…let Lawrencburg win against the evil cheating Catholics!4 points

I bet they do. 1-3 all time, I think. Good wins by the Tigers in the last three meetings. A regular season matchup would be fun (if SIAC could schedule out of conf games).3 points

I think @slice60 said it most eloquently back in April: ”Yes, I can explain it. The IHSAA crapped the bed. Here is how Chatard has fared in the last 25 years (22 of 25 years in 3A, except where noted). Chatard has won the 3A state title in 13 of 22 tournaments over the past 25 years. If that doesn't scream MOVED UP DUE TO SUCCESS FACTOR, I do not know what does. 97-State Champ 98-State Champ 99-Lost in Sect (Roncalli-State Champ) 00-Lost in Sect (Heritage Hills-State Champ) 01-State Champ 02-State Champ 03-State Champ 04-Reg Champ (Andrean-State Champ) 05-Reg Champ (NorthWood-State Champ) 06-State Champ 07-State Champ 08-Reg Champ (Bellmont-State Champ) 09-Reg Champ (West Laf-State Champ) 10-State Champ 11-State Champ 12-State Champ 13-moved up to 4A, won Sect (Andrean-3A State Champ) 14-moved up to 4A, lost in Sect (Tri West-3A State Champ) 15-State Champ 16-Lost in Sect (FW Concordia-State Champ) 17-Sect Champ (Ev Memorial-State Champ) 18-Reg Champ (West Laf-State Champ) 19-State Champ 20-State Champ 21-moved up to 4A, lost in Sect (Gibson So-3A State Champ) " I think there was a very real concern that Chatard might run into it's second string of three consecutive non-state champ seasons in eight years and the IHSAA wanted to nip it in the bud. The embarrassment that this kind of perceived downturn in a program as storied as Chatard might lead to the utter collapse of the team, the Chatard community, and, more broadly, the entire 3A class. How would the IHSAA move forward with only five classes of postseason football being viable, while 64 3A teams wander aimlessly from one gridiron to another for a month, sometimes three schools on the same field, occasionally a team stumbling into a different state's playoffs entirely. Something like this could ultimately be the downfall of Indiana football as well know it. /s Meanwhile, I believe Dwenger and LCC both stayed up this season, if I'm not mistaken.3 points

Crying? Lmao GS got beat, I moved on to wrestling the next week. Get a hold of yourself. Chatard most very likely doesn't even want to be in 3A. I almost guarantee they have a very strong desire to put a 4A trophy on the shelf next to all their 3A hardware. What TF do they have to prove beating the sh*t out of all us rednecks down here in Kentucky?2 points

Honestly, for MD to come out on top, they will have to find a way to "contain" Bowen and outscore Andrean in a 42-35 type game. Not sure MD can put that many points on board against a strong Andrean D. Perhaps the best way for that to occur is for Bowen to miss the bus... 🤪 MD's offense has really been clicking the last 2-3 weeks and the defense has really stepped up. They seem to be playing their best football at the right time. That will need to continue next week. Wunderlich threw some absolute dimes last night - the pass down the sideline to Stoltz, the slant to Turner across the middle - perfect touch, perfect timing... Pierre had well over a 100 yds and was able to sneak through the line and get into the secondary often. Last year Andrean shut down MD's passing game with pressure on Wunderlich - often Bowen on a blitz. When Wunderlich gets uncomfortable in the pocket, he tends to force some ill-advised throws, i.e. the INT near goal line last night. If he can remain calm and make some good passes, MD has a chance.2 points

@crimsonace1thought it was a shame that NP/Roncalli played before LOS.. seems to be the only shame was EC/Roncalli playing each other before LOS. The 2 best teams in 4A hands downs.2 points

I think both teams have an opportunity finish 2023 in the top two positions in the 5A poll. I stress the word "opportunity."1 point

Wish I could watch this game, but with the IHSAA having PPV, looks like I will have to skip it. Not a great way to promote Indiana High School Sports.1 point

These scenarios also have to occur within the same 2 year period. The IHSAA reorganized after last year so this year is year 1 of next 2 year evaluation period.1 point

Memorial loves playing Chatard. I guess Memorial has cheated just a little better than Chatard in their matchups.1 point

I think this came up a year or two ago and it stuck in my head for some reason. I guess since my kid was kicking, that may be why.1 point

You are correct.....a returner can actually step into the end zone and run as long as the ball is not judged to have crossed that plane.1 point

Nice job to the players and coaches keeping the flame going after many thought it had gone out. Didn't wallow in the past and kept looking forward and making things happen with a chance given. Good stuff to build on in the off-season to get geared up for next season. Pass on to the team that we enjoyed being along for the extended ride!1 point

I think I get what is being said I agree we should remove the success factor And stop handing out fake state championships1 point

Andrean is the favorite, but its hard to beat the same team 2 years in a row at state. Chatard is in the north, but they are in Indy.1 point

Just stop. No moral victories at this stage but Carroll has noting to lose or prove to anyone at this point. They beat the undefeated HCC (best conference in the state) champions last night and have done something no other Fort Wayne area school has done in the 6A era.1 point

They play one year in Class 4A, get beat in the sectional championship by Roncalli, now drop back to win their third 3A title in four years. It is too easy to drop back.1 point

At what point did they outscore MD the rest of the way? I think it’s safe to say this one was over early in the second half1 point

Don’t know about best, but it’s pretty evident that program can withstand just about anything. That’s a very good football team.1 point

Got away from the Irish quick. Had two great drives to start the game and were absolutely gashing the Trojan D with the running game. Center Grove didn’t flinch. Thought Cathedral abandoned the run game way too early, pass protection was horrific. Center Grove once again proves why they are the class of 6A, stage never seems to big for them.1 point

Congrats to the panthers on a gr8 season..this group of seniors won city as 8th graders n expectations were high..losing in sectionals last yr to making a semi state run this year is nothing to be ashamed of..the team that won made incredible plays to beat them..this years edition brought back some hardware to Fairlawn pass..well done..1 point

I am. My post was partly satire as most people see the Knights as just that but it partly wasn’t because they allowed 1 single player to beat them tonight. They knew coming in that that was Andreans only shot and still just got housed….as much as I would love to be optimistic, performances like that give me pause. On to next season Knights! Take this loss and use it as fuel for Championship run!1 point

True David vs Goliath efforts tonight from Adams Central, Luers, Chatard, New Prairie, Lutheran, Whiteland and Valpo. Those 2+ hour climate controlled long bus rides are a bitch.1 point

It could be the explanation for why 3 of the 4 teams left in 2A are Catholic schools if I'm not mistaken. Could just be a coincidence tho.1 point

He has consistently expressed opposition to private sports ventures for children also, so I don't think you can call it anything close to Libertarian. Let's just say he's anti-sports(except soccer) and leave it at that.1 point
