They see the glitz, the glamour, the exposure, the operating budget, the facilities. They work hard, they earn many of the things they program provides, whether home grown or they show up after they have been in HS, the model is set up for sustain success. Why has CP Wrestling not taken any steps back? Thank You $13 if that T shirt because why not. In 2014, we had a community member want to spend money and bought our entire football program BEAT CC t shirts on our way to doing just that. Should we have not accept it? Should we have never wear them? A T shirt is not meant for competitive juices or is not meant to get anyone over the top, it's a symbol of success or attempted school spirit, nothing more nothing less. In Mid 2000's North Judson made T shirts with our school colors when they beat us in 2004 sectional. KV made T shirts when they won the Cracker Barrel back in the day too.

I still maintain that the better 6A Northern schools need to form some type of conference, even if it's for football only. -Crown Point -Penn -Elkhart -Snider -Homestead -Carroll Could add 5A schools like Valpo, Merrillville, and/or Warsaw but this at least leaves you some flexibility schedule wise to maintain old rivalries or play Indy area schools and schools from MI/IL/OH.

I’d like to get in on that action. I’ll hit the Heritage Hills money line all the way through Thanksgiving weekend. I also know nothing about Luers (other than their obvious storied history), but I know how good HH was last year, I know they returned almost that entire team, and I know how good the Memorial team they just beat was. Barring injuries, I think HH brings home a long overdue title back to Lincoln City. I’ll be rooting for the Patriots all along the way!

Hopefully, would be nice to see someone local down there. Shooting for East Noble, Luers/Garrett, and Adams Central.

Wow, all because of Parkhurst. How one guy can wreck an entire community. I'd like to see Merrillville get that title. They have a great fan base that travels well. They deserve to see their Pirates play on Thanksgiving weekend.

Plus it will really kill Parkhurst if Crown Point, Valpo and Andrean can all win Titles throughout the recent era of him predicting a Merrillville title nearly every year. Admittedly, even as a DAC apologist, I'd probably pull for the South in 5A out of spite if the Pirates make it.

we just had someone post about how nobody from the northwest has been able to compete since the 70s and CP went to lucas oil and ran into a buzzsaw just 1y ago. 10/1 is generous that said im rooting for them to win so that i can start claiming that the hcc is dead and the dac is the primary 6a conference

I think Luers main competition in the North is Garrett who is undefeated at 12-0. Luers and Garrett played several times when both were in 2A with Luers always coming out in top, but this is not a powerhouse Luers team, especially offensively. In the past, Garrett had trouble dealing with the athletes at Luers, thinking of Jaylon Smith and Anthony Spencer, both ex NFL players. Maybe this year it is a more even playing field for Garrett. Kind to of rooting for Garrett to go to LOS and compete for a state title, but we will see

I simply mentioned the last 5-6 years for Carmel and Warren. Its hard to deny results. Warren has improved this year and could reverse their trends. I didn't mention anything about BD or CG.

Had a chance to catch the LN/Cathedral game last Friday night which was my first opportunity to actually see them play. My original thought was that they were not very big, but they made that up for that with quickness and they are well coached. The early interceptions gave Cathedral a chance to put the game away early but when they did not capitalize on the turnovers, LN did and that was pretty much the story of the game. As it relates to the poll, I have watched the bottom teams in the poll play on TV and must say that in my opinion as of today, I just don't feel like LN could beat Baton Rouge (LA) Catholic, Queen Creek (AZ) American Leadership Academy or Greenwood (CO) Cherry Creek, my bottom three teams. However, that could change as we go forward which makes polling these teams so interesting.

It's been the Carmel, Ben Davis, Warren Central show for obvious reasons. Center Grove is the only program that's been able to break through. The landscape of the HCC is pretty damn good, but until one of them breaks through, they're no different than Crown Point or Carroll.

Everyone asks when will a true North team breakthrough for a 6A title . I want to know when anyone not named Carmel , Center Grove , Ben Davis or Warren Central will win a 6A title .

You absolutely should have accepted. You hadn't played the game yet and it was meant to encourage your players. Is the purpose of the North Champs T-shirts to encourage the players to win/ compete (like your beat CC shirts) or to celebrate 2nd place? Don't get me wrong, 2nd place in a state football tournament is a tremendous feat that not many accomplish but that doesn't mean I think the t-shirts are a cool idea. I'm not insinuating that T-shirts get anyone over the top. Myself, as a competitor, would struggle to wear a t-shirt that says I got 2nd place. Hell, I have a baseball related one I don't wear that says State Champs but the true best team wasn't at that tournament. Lol I understand school spirit and wish it wasn't lacking in SOOOOO many other places in the 219. I just think when you're trying to go to the places that Crown Point is trying to go promoting your 2nd place finish with a "North Champions" t-shirt FEELS like it goes against what they're working toward accomplishing (1st place). They can buy/ make all the t-shirts they want to make. I sleep fine every night, just offering my opinion on runner up apparel.

Every year I am on these boards some person runs their mouth about Luers and every year they come to regret it. Not a vintage Luers team this year, but the defense is really good and there are a bunch of athletes. Offense is ok, but let me tell you HH has nothing that Luers hasn’t seen a million times from 5A and 6A teams that are MUCH better than HH has ever dreamed of being. Keep that in mind as you run your mouth…

People become billionaires because they serve their customers well. They outcompete others in serving customers. They normally create tons of high-paying jobs too, including for our retired athlete. The exception to this rule is when billions are made from special privileges from the government, like taxpayer subsidies! Taxpayer-funded stadiums are the classic case of a losing proposition for the local economy and taxpayers as study after study has demonstrated. Only a few benefit from the subsidies, including the billionaire team owners! With a brainwashed upbringing, is it any wonder then that more young adults have a positive view of socialism than have a positive view of capitalism? The positive beliefs in socialism only increase with more college education. Those beliefs should decline with more education if college was about learning, instead of indoctrination. The only silver lining—and I will link to my journal article on the subject in the show notes—is that the rise of socialist sympathies has driven many others to try and learn more about Austrian economics. One clear sign of socialist bias in higher education is that college professors that register Democrat outnumber those that register Republican 10-to-1. Of course, Democrat professors are much more likely to favor extreme forms of socialism than the average American Democrats and Republican professors are more likely to stay in the closet or face the mean and career-ending dangers from Marxist professors who often control the campus agenda. The Republicans are also much more likely to teach in good career departments, like engineering, where their views would not come into play in the classroom. Mitch Daniels was a pharmaceutical executive who came into the Bush administration to run the Office of Management and Budget. He went on to become a successful two-term governor of Indiana and then president of the prestigious Purdue University. At each stage, he tried and succeeded in trimming the worst excesses of public sector waste and abuse of the taxpayer. He has spoken favorably of both F.A. Hayek and limited government. At Purdue, the business school is now named the “Mitch Daniels School of Business” and, at his beckoning, they have set up a mini curriculum called the “Cornerstone for Business” that proposes to expose students to “transformative texts with deep insights on the history, philosophy, and economic theory of market capitalism.” This is a well-intentioned attempt to “offset the influence of a culture that increasingly doubts the value that profitable businesses offer society.” This effort should be commended. It recognizes the anti-capitalist influence in American culture and education, and it attempts to balance that by exposing the students to some “transformative texts.” Of course, that is what a liberal education and a liberal arts degree should be—was meant to be—in the first place! Unfortunately, this is only an elective curriculum—students get a certificate for completing the three-course sequence: 1. “Money, Trade, & Power: The History of Capitalism,” 2. “History of Economic Thought,” and, 3. “International Organization.” I was a little surprised it did not include a course in “Comparative Economic Systems.” That was a standard course that was taught every semester, open to any student, when I was an undergraduate student. The course compared various versions of capitalism and socialism. My teacher tried to convince us that the Soviet Union would soon dominate the West. It’s not taught much anymore, anywhere. I don’t think it’s been taught at Auburn University for at least four decades, except when I volunteered to teach it, basically on a charitable basis. They haven’t even asked me to teach it in almost a decade. The titles of courses, however, are just a surface issue and are just subterfuge in the long run. The titles of professors also don’t matter. I’m afraid that if every economics, history, and philosophy department in the country had a Murray Rothbard named endowed professorship that it would not change a thing. The University of Missouri was given millions of dollars for six chaired professorships in Austrian economics, and they just handed them out to seemingly random business professors with no connection to Austrian economics. In an extremely unusual outcome, the University was successfully sued for their egregious actions against the donors’ wishes and had to return the money. Most donors are not so lucky. Here is the crux of the matter: Current professors don’t know what they are talking about concerning the relevant issues, they only mimic the political propaganda that their professor gave to them. The story suits the agenda, so it gets retold as if it is a real theory, or real history. In reality, these stories often simply fly in the face of logic, but because professors and students are not taught true critical thinking or exposed to competing approaches, they never think about questioning it. The only critical thinking in modern academia that stands out are criticisms of capitalism—real and imagined. Case in point: it is widely taught that unions caused wages to go up, improved working conditions, reduced hours of work, eliminated women and child labor, etc.; issues that are bound to come up in various history and economics classes. The problem with this story is that increased wages and benefits, etc., require free market capitalism and private property rights in the first place to generate the necessary savings and capital investment in worthwhile production. Capitalism and capitalist accumulation occurred prior to the labor guilds. The Industrial Revolution preceded labor unions. Capitalism proliferated the higher-skilled labor and higher-paying jobs on which unions are based! All the good benefits that labor enjoys first appeared in the marketplace without government or union intervention. Henry Ford started the $5 per workday because he wanted a dependable, highly-skilled workforce and workers loved it! Unions do benefit their members, but they hurt the employers and customers. They also can only sustain their higher pay by excluding others from skilled positions, so many people in the workforce are hurt by unionism. The net result is that “labor” in general is not better off and unionized economies go into decline. The US is one of the least unionized and most dynamic advanced economies in the world. Listen to professors and their students and you would think only children would work in factories and that no one would ever have a day off from work if not for unions and the government. The capitalist process is responsible for higher wages and higher standards of living in society. As a system, governmental action and violent union activity can only drag down its beneficial social effects. This is just one example of what passes for higher education. Don’t expect government bureaucrats and politicians to solve this problem. They helped to create it. All great points.

A "fraud" in what way? The mighty competition found in the Hoosier Heartland Conference didn't probably prepare the Cougars for a deep tournament run? The mighty competition just won 3 sectionals- Taylor/Sheridan/Eastern- It's simple, they are HS kids- Carroll didn't play well vs Pioneer-season over- Pioneer didn't play well vs Taylor (team Carroll beat by 35) season over. It's why you play the games. I'm sure N Judson didn't foresee going into the regional round that Carroll/Pioneer/Madison Grant would all be sitting at home. It's why you play the games- any given Friday things can and will happen. Excited to see what next week brings.
