I can’t print here just exactly what she had to say about Roncalli and the Archdiocese being.....err......”vaginas”.....or something to that effect. She is nothing if not erudite. I married well.

Could happen, may not happen. The one thing that has been consistent in ALL OF THIS, has been the slow approach by leadership on making decisions, each day/week gives a different picture of risk in different areas of our state. Clearly its not a one size fits all situation. I have stayed focus on 1 day at a time, 1 practice at a time, you can make yourself nuts/sick trying to do otherwise in my humble opinion

Anyone speaking in absolutes on this topic is wrong from the get go. No one knows exactly where we are headed, but I like to look at the optimistic side of things. As some have stated before, these kids for the most part have been around each other and each other's families for at least the last month or so. If there was going to be a big spread, we would have likely seen it by now. Also, until the governor, the IHSAA, a county health department, or a school board tells us we are not going to have a season, I am going to coach like we are and make sure I am following the safety recommendations laid out. The kids deserve both our hardest work as coaches as well as our highest diligence to adhere to safety precautions we have been given to protect them and their season.

A person's "belief" in the shape of the earth other than an orbital ellipse is what I would describe a character flaw that I feel has very little to do with her ability to keep my books correctly since she has been doing my stuff since the 90's. FWIW - I still respect Muda's opinions except as it may apply to Christianity since he and I do not share the same opinion on that topic.

In another context I joked that, with all the talk of officiating while masked, and using electronic whistles, it might be appropriate to refresh everyone’s recollection as to inadvertent whistle administration ... because we may see more than normal. So, what happens when one of the officials loses whistle discipline, and suffers premature exhalation? The rules are pretty clear, but sometimes the officials can be a little fuzzy on them, only because this is a topic that we all avoid like the plague. But if someone has already screwed up, the last thing you want to do is blow the administration. If an inadvertent whistle sounds while the ball is alive: while the ball is in flight following a legal kick, a legal pass, or a snap, the down is replayed at the previous spot. while the ball is loose following a backward pass, fumble, illegal forward pass or illegal kick, the team last in possession may elect to replay the down at the previous spot, or take the ball at the spot where possession is lost and have the down count. while the ball is in possession of a player, the team in possession may accept the results of the play at the dead-ball spot and have the down count, or replay the down. But keep in mind all of the above is subject to one overriding rule: if there is a foul during the down and the penalty is accepted, the inadvertent whistle is wiped out, and the penalty is administered as determined by the basic spot, as usual. You’d be amazed how many flags get thrown on plays where there was an inadvertent whistle. 😉 One other observation about the dreaded inadvertent whistle: any official who says they’ve never had an IW is either lying ... or a rookie. But when you do it, you will remember it forever. I still remember my last one: October 23, 1992.

I think a number of districts will do the virtual learning drastically different than what took place in the Spring. Here in Allen County, every district has a plan that includes virtual students being logged in for each class period of a regular day.

That will be interesting to see the grind that may put on lower class kids (Jr & Soph). End football in May and then go back for the 2021 fall season in July/August.

Wow; go to practice for a couple hours and come home to 3 additional pages on a topic about a decision that has been reversed; and maybe one or two posts about that decision. There are other posts to talk about the general topic of openings and the start of the season. There is also a place for the personal barbs back and forth......direct messages. Oh yeah, there is also the ignore feature.

You've obviously never been to Pulaski County.. There are quite a few people struggling around these parts.

As a coach, I appreciate EVERYTHING that volunteers do. The guys who man the sticks, the announcers, the guy who runs the scoreboard, the person that films the game, the parents that work concessions and sell tickets, the students who volunteer to pick up the trash in the stadium after the game, the folks who clean up in the restrooms before/during/after the game, the guys who line and maintain the field, and the stat guys too. Anyone who's helping out is just as valuable in the scheme of things. As a matter of fact, I bet there are some coaches/ADs at some of the smaller schools who probably have first-hand appreciation since if folks aren't stepping up, it often falls to the coach/AD to do it.

I'm saying I'm missing the good old days when high school football was discussed here. Politics were immediately moved to the Out of Bounds Forum. Where they belong.

Politics has no place in the Football section of the GID.

I fully expect a case or 2 to happen my son's team this fall. That kid or mine will quarantine for 2 weeks and be absolutely fine after that. I would rather my kid go to school, socialize, participate in extracurricular activities then sit home learning to be scared of the world. His team has been but cautious through whole process. You can't keep hiding kids away from the world.

I know that these Indy kids and other virtual students did not ask for these circumstances but I think it’s a little crazy that no one on any of these posts has talked about the MASSIVE advantage that the students have that are not attending a traditional 8 hour classroom sitting but instead are online and many juniors and seniors will be working at their own pace. I think it’s a massive advantage of doing your class work when you feel like it compared to being required to show up for 8 hours of school and then have a grueling 3 hour practice. It’s not the kids or parents’ faults but I am surprised that no one has discussed how big of an advantage this truly is for virtual schools. As long as these virtual students have self discipline, they have a huge edge in my opinion. And no I don’t have a solution for this but was just curious why no one has brought this up on the site (at least that I could find).

Agree. Everyone else falls in line from here. Not because what Marion County was correct. But because everyone else will look bad if there does happen to be a Covid outbreak within their football programs.

The amount of kids lives that are changing cuz of this! Those kids need sports! Those kids need coaches! They need safe places to hangout at! This will ruin more lives! glad the IHSAA is still moving forward!

I’m assuming you’re blowing smoke because that’s your gig but 3A has been the best class pound for pound the last 3 years or so (been a fairly weak class historically....not so now, though). Most any truly keen observer already knows this which tells me more than a little about your evaluations (or lack thereof....or, simply, your desire to stir that pot.....worked in my case). The fact that 3A Evansville Memorial won 4A last year in a comparatively “down“ year for them versus the prior couple of years should say it all. Prior to that, in 2017, Chatard fairly easily handled eventual 4A State Champ East Central the last game of the season yet Chatard got smoked by Danville who in turn got smoked by Memorial.

OK, I’ll bite....add that this is an actual thread about football and not the whole Corona/politics BS. I find it a bit funny that some here are actually thinking Chatard declines when last season they were ranked 6th ALL CLASSES (That’s 1A-6A for the MENSA members) per Sagarin . Sagarin’s Predictor ranking had them at 5th ALL CLASSES with only Carmel, Avon, New Pal and Brownsburg ranked ahead of them. Chatard’s strength of schedule (SOS) ranking was Top 10 or 15 throughout the regular season but fell to 21st at season’s end largely due to 3A playoffs. During the regular season, Chatard played an effectively “MIC-like“ overall schedule per comparative SOS rankings.. BTW, I followed the Sagarin SOS rankings throughout the regular season - it was well within the range of the MIC team’s SOS rankings pre-playoffs. Somehow, neither Cathedral, Brebeuf, Guerin or Roncalli squeeeeeeeeezed ahead of Chatard as to Sagarin rankings last year....some weren’t even in the same solar system. So before y’all declare Chatard dead and buried (while Chatard is “desperately” clutching those State-leading 14 State Championships in hand), I am quite honestly thinking Chatard (though roughly 1/2 the size of Cathedral....just to remind you folks...lest you forget) will offer even more challenge in the future as to being THE top Indy Metro Parochial (They REALLY should have beat Cathedral last year) 1. Chatard will STILL be the North Indy Archdiocese school. Say what you want about Hamilton County (Okay, I’ll say it..much of Hamilton County can be a bit....errr, well....... “soft”). 2. Chatard NOW actually has their own football facility for home games which only Roncalli has previously had to offer as an Archdiocesan school (that said, Roncalli football, these days, may well be too cisgender male for them moving forward....I’m expecting them to drop football...I’m hearing they have some great Riverdancers on the South side these days). Pretty nice facility, for the record, at Chatard. FYI - Cathedral still has NO home game facility....nope...none whatsoever. 3. Chatard NOW throws the ball around just a tad (and Coach Doyle was a HS and College QB......add that Rob is a pretty d@mn smart dude) which means Chatard now ACTUALLY competes for Archdiocesan QBs and receivers (and by default gets an upgrade to safeties and defensive backs) which they really didn’t previously. 4. Chatard is still arguably the best Archdiocesan (and anywhere else for that matter) home for prospective college lineman to make their bones. The Big’uns are looked at like Chris Hemsworth by EVERYBODY at Chatard....just keep the shirt tucked in. Truly, truly sexy dudes. 5. Chatard still RUNS the ball like few teams do. Running backs can make a name at Chatard. 6. The apparent (and unsurprising) decision by Brebeuf to now focus on artistic swimming, gender studies and navel gazing means that even more actual football players will be available for a real Catholic school like Chatard (yeah, Cathedral too, unfortunately, even though they aren’t a Catholic parochial...life is yin and yang I guess). I’m sure I am missing tons of new reasons but I think Chatard actually (without any decline by competitors) does nothing except becomes significantly better. When you factor in the actual expected decline of Brebeuf and (further decline of) Roncalli as they both drill down hard and focus on their social justice street cred, Chatard (maybe Cathedral) does nothing except get better at playing football....as well as college and career relevant studies. PS.....Again, Chatard is roughly 1/2 the size of Cathedral and a lot smaller than Roncalli. Chatard is only about 100 students bigger than Ritter just to give some of you folks some perspective.
