  1. Donnie Baker said you could get in big trouble for this.....I swear to Gosh he did! Seed sectional top 4 teams and play semistates at neutral sites with turf. Let the rest fall as it may.

  2. Because the Giants aren’t wussies and they’ll say it right to your face

  3. I know there are certain high school state athletic associations who have barred their teams from playing schools like IMG for this exact purpose, Georgia specifically. I think Texas in another.

  5. It's that time of year when we at http://www.broadcastsport.net start compiling our 'Who Is Broadcasting Where' list from across the state. We have most of the northern-most broadcasts listed so far, but need help gathering the rest of the state. Especially radio stations who quite often don't include their broadcast schedule on their website.

  6. Absolutely. You are always here. I appreciate your football candor. Hopefully East will get something figured out.

  7. A big shout out to all high school coaches who volunteer their time to coach up and teach these kids.........regardless of their number of wins. I would include most paid positions as volunteer work as well, since from what I've been told, their compensation is less than minimum wage considering the amount of time they put in. I do realize this is a touchy topic, so I'll bow out. But before I do, I just want to add: 1. The most asinine idea I've heard here on this forum is the elimination of 1A football, but that's just me. Hopefully Rodney isn't offended, I don't feel like tangling with him right now.

  8. I agree about the draw. The sectionals should all be seeded. But saying a team or coaches don't put in the work at 2-7 is just not fair to those teams. I've been a member a lot longer than 4 1/2 years. A few of yours over the years are right up there too.

  9. You’ve been a member for 4-1/2 years. So, that is highly unlikely. 🤣

  10. I’ve been here the whole time. As for what East looks like, I don’t know. I don’t have any connections on the inside that would know. Sadly, I’m expecting more of the same though.

  11. Only thing I saw about TV/streaming is something called FloFootball out of Florida which is available via AppleTV, Roku, Chromecast and via their app on iOS and Android. https://www.flofootball.com/articles/11034248-how-to-watch-2023-img-fl-vs-ben-davis-in-football

  12. Way too early WRC predictions... Seeger - Do they reload? The Chin kid was a tough back. Who do they replace him with? Their OL/DL is mostly back and pretty good. I think the Patriots will be right back where they finished last year. They're the best until they're not. Covington - New head coach. Will they still try to spread people out? Or maybe run the football? Coach Brown is a good dude, but I don't think even his help would help the Trojans. They gave up a lot of big plays last year. Got to be able to tackle in football. Fountain Central - They should be better. They should. I've also heard numbers were up. Regardless, Coach King will have them ready to go. Back shoulder fades will be all the rage for the Mustangs in Veedersburg. Attica - New Coach. Same team. I heard they did some summer competitions, which is an improvement over the previous few seasons. The Good days are gone for the Ramblers, however. South Vermillion - Big linemen. Great skill players. QB (and Coach) that likes to fling it. The Wildcats have it all and then some. Until Sectional time. North Vermillion - One man band in Cayuga. We'll see if Crabtree can regroup without Coach Blank by his side. (Although I'm sure he'll still be an "advisor") Coaches coach, kids play. Crabtree and the Falcons still have a pretty good QB and some skill players. Riverton Parke - Speaking of one man bands... The Panthers graduated a lot of offense last year. I mean a lot. (Over 3000 yds and 40+ TDs worth) Can they find replacements, reload and compete every week? At #6 Carroll (Flora) isn't a joke either. They're either crazy, or know something we don't. I heard they have a lot (50+) of kids out. Sorry Donnie, but I think something big is brewing in Mecca these days. Parke Heritage - Are the Woolfs content being little brother in Parke County and the WRC? I've heard the numbers are kinda low for a PH team. I like what they're trying to do. They may win a few more this year and compete better, but is it good enough in Rockville?

  13. Good points. And yeah, I expect their approach to be much different heading into sectionals this year.

  15. Whiteshoes has been providing this content nationally for years and I trust that he knows and studies his stuff. Like any preseason rankings, I'm sure it's largely comprised of prior year results combined with returning production. I'm sure there's some combination of historical tradition that factors in as well.

  16. This may be a silly question, but is there a payout for the game involved? As the great Frank Beamer quoted while head coach at Murray State prior to Va Tech about an upcoming game against Alabama....."Alabama needs a win and we need a new weight room."

  17. Nah, they wanted them to throw the ball those nights...trust me. Penn had a better shot at a possible incompletion than they did stopping Desmond Tardy or Reese Taylor on the ground those nights.

  18. The whole state? Indiana as a whole has what, 5-6 guys a class who will play and contribute at major college football programs? Nearly all of IMG's entire 2 deep will have committable P5 offers (multiple) when all said and done. There will be guys standing on the sideline at IMG who won't play until the second half that will commit to SEC and B10 schools by the time they graduate.

  19. I wouldn't change too much about the current season except: 1. Seed sectionals 1-4 (in 8 team sectionals) then random draw the other 4. better seed gets home field advantage. Once you hit regionals and or both teams are seeded it goes to the current format to determine home team. The only other thing I'd think about touching is something with the privates. Don't know if that means they automatically play up a class? Create 2 classes with privates (small and big school) and have their own tournament? Don't know what the answer is exactly but it's time to get creative

  20. It's my understanding that the previous BD HC, Jason Simmons, has a relationship with someone on the IMG staff. I believe that's what got the ball rolling. Listen, I don't know what's going to happen that night or if Ben Davis has any shot, but I think it speaks well for the program and for Indiana High School Football that IMG wanted to come and play here. I also know there has been tremendous interest in the game from not only BD folks. If the Giants get shellacked, it will be what many expect. If they are competitive, it will really show the team where they are against one of the country's best.

  21. They re-drew the 2A south last year. Linton got bumped from sectional 40 and we didn't see them until semi state. We've played Triton Central in the regional 4 straight years. We are 3-1 against them, but you have to make them the favorite over MD this year at this point due to all the graduation losses MD had

  22. One reason any perceived or actual lack of discipline may not have been apparent the first two years is because Reitz was pretty bad and was never really in a game against a quality opponent where that kind of issue typically rears it's head... Based on what I've heard about the recent incident (and the minimal punishment) leads me to conclude the emphasis on discipline is really nothing more than a social media hashtag...

  23. I think if Ben Davis can muster more than 100 yards of total offense and/or score (while IMG still has their 1st/2nd team in) that's something they can always hang their hat on. This game has 42/49-0 nothing at half written all over it with IMG deciding how professional they are in the second half. I think the biggest win for Ben Davis would be IMG leaving town without poaching someone like Mark Zackery for next year.

  25. Beating somebody might entail beating Center Grove, not the Dream Team of high school football (an all star team put together with kids from all over). It's not exactly "our community vs yours." This game screams mercy rule in the 3rd quarter. Credit to the Ben Davis coaches and administration for going all in though.

  26. I don't know who they scrimmage, coach. I'd gladly substitute BC for Mitchell as well. The last 3 years, BNL has performed well against Mitchell in the scrimmage, and in my opinion, gained an unrealistic sense of ability. We meet up with Martinsville in week 1, and it takes us 2 quarters to get acclimated to better competition. We play catch-up the rest of the game. The talent gap between OV and Martinsville is smaller than the gap between Mitchell and Martinsville (even in OV's typical mediocre years....they play in a tougher conference.) I think OV would push us more and expose more weaknesses. The other reason....this game turn's into, "let's beat the other team" type of competition, because of close proximity, old rivalries, kids switching schools, etc. It's just not constructive for BNL. BNL is closer to OV than any other HHC school besides Seymour, and that's only by a few miles.

  31. I have a feeling they are going to attempt to get with Cathedral again with in 2 years. I think they should go for Lowell, they seem to have Dwenger's number and so does Concord.
