  1. Said by Laville Supporter during Laville’s first possession at the front gate. “These boys don’t know how to play big boy football” Minding my own business.

  2. This is why you don’t go to coaches for your rules information. First, and most obviously, one of the requirements for offensive pass interference is that there actually be a legal forward pass during the down … which there obviously wasn’t here. So, not throwing the flag for OPI was not a “mistake by the officials.” Secondly, the video I saw showed the receiver and the DB lock up initially when the receiver came out to block/pick him. But contrary to what you quoted the Coach as saying, the DB was not attempting to fight through the pick. After the initial contact, the receiver tried to run past the DB, who grabbed and restricted him as he was trying to run past him. That video supports the “garbage call.”

  3. This explains why Southern Indiana is superior…we were here first. No Vanderburgh! 😂😂

  4. Completely forgot to congratulate the Tigers on another strong campaign. I don't know how many of the Tiger faithful saw a Sectional Championship in their future when both Fisher & Rode went down mid-season. IMO, this was perhaps the best coaching job in recent years by Hurley & his staff, and that is saying alot.

  5. Gonna make it kind of difficult to argue at the TRO hearing that the head coaches’ absence on game day causes “irreparable injury,” requiring an injunction.

  8. But that doesn't fit the public school fans' narrative. They'll tell you it's only the p/p schools that recruit.

  11. I think their kicker hit one big/good kick, not sure about "kicks"??. Anyway, I wanted to make point that special teams play is huge in playoffs,

  17. The Leo offense is legit. I have watched enough of them this year to say that. I think they are vulnerable on defense in some situations

  18. Kick, catch interference.. Ball was never grounded or touched by GS, before TW gained possession.

  19. Yea after watching the video that will be called a defensive hold almost every time. I think Batesvilles coach was letting the emotions get the best of him on the post-game.

  22. 2005 had a couple big ones. As @Tippy mentioned, Lowell going into the tournament at 5-4 and knocking off Roncalli in the 4A state title game was a big upset. However, you also had a NorthWood team that entered the tournament at 3-6. They knocked off an undefeated Griffith team led by Russ Radtke at semi-state 17-10 before defeating Chatard 7-0 for the 3A state title. Four of their six tournament wins were by a touchdown. Their final record of 9-6 is still the worst ever by a state champion

  24. The Snider @ Mishawaka game was everything you could ask for in a high school game. I was on the Snider sideline as that kid nailed the 45 yarder at the buzzer. Pandemonium!

  25. They don't have a football team yet. I am think Coach D is waiting for Coach K to retire and move down there to start up a football team in "The Villages" he already has the portable megaphone ready to pull out of the drawer!

  26. One thing of note. With Bo Polston back for Decatur Central, that is not great news for 5A. I wasn't sure if he would be coming back when he went down against Whiteland earlier in the year. Decatur Central without Polston was mediocre, with him though they are pretty solid! Bloomington South at Decatur Central should be a good one. I will take the Hawks since they are playing at home with a trip to Lucas Oil.

  27. Contreras was the name and he did have a couple of nice punt returns. Weird game on the kicking side with onside and pop up kicks, fake punts, big punt returns. While Zachary's name gets mentioned a lot Contreras is a stud at his safety position.

  29. O'Neil was tough as nails last night. His first Interception (pick 6) was the fault of the WR not his. He would have been much more effective had he not sustained the knee injury in the 3rd qtr. He was still effective but he couldn't escape some of the pressure late in the game at times as his knee got worse. I commend him for gutting it out and still making plays. The Irish defense I thought played outstanding giving up only 20 points to a Ben Davis team averaging 42 points per game. It should have been only 13 points given up as right before the half Ben Davis got a TD pass after being gifted a first down from the officials when the Irish stopped Ben Davis on 4th and short that wasn't even close. Officiating struggled with spotting the ball the entire game. The Irish still made several big time 4th down stops. I still can't get out of my head THE AMAZING CATCH Slaughter #8 for Cathedral made at the 1 yard line!! Anyone who didn't watch that game needs to go back and watch it just for that 1 catch, it was truly amazing. He jumped in the air with the defender there catches it then pins it to the defenders helmet/shoulder pads on the way down all the way to the ground maintaining possession. Definitely a highlight reel. Ben Davis' kicker got redemption kicking that 40 yarder after missing his first FG of the game. The one player that aside from the kicker that played lights out was the BD running Back Price. He fought hard even though the Irish were keeping him at bay most of the game. His TD run was huge and he had a big time short pass he turned into major yards. Both teams definitely left it all out on the field in all 3 aspects of the game. Ben Davis escaped healthier from this game than Cathedral would have with O'Neil banged up. The Center Grove at Ben Davis game will be another good one

  30. One of the better high school games I’ve seen in awhile. Both teams left it all on the field. And, I might add, the officiating was a pleasure to watch.

  31. Everyone who attended this game got their money's worth! It was a classic! The BD kicker won in with a 40 yarder with 2:38 left. It's hard to win when you turn the ball over 4 times against a very good Giant team! Good luck to the Giants next week against Center Grove here on the west side. It was a joy to watch Danny O'Neil for three years. He may not of had his best game tonight, but he went down slinging!

  33. It was Crum-Hieftje's replacement that got beat on the 87-yard TD pass in the 4th, but fortunately, the game was pretty much decided by that time. Since the game wasn't video streamed, I don't know how the kid did for the entire game, but the Huskies are a running team first. When they said Bryce Taylor was a go for the game, it turned out that he was limited to just kickoffs, but he kept North's speedy kick returners from getting the chance for big runbacks, something that Seymour was able to do a couple of times last week. The Perez kid, a backup running back, has done the extra points for South in place of Taylor and he hasn't missed yet on them. With WVNI not carrying the game for some reason, I had to listen to Joe Smith's play-by-play account and was wanting to pull my hair out for the entire game. As you pointed out, he's a really nice guy and I have talked to him some over the years, but listening to him calling the game was brutal, and for me, it was cruel and unusual punishment. I don't know how many times he would talk about a play and not tell you where the ball was at until after South had run two or three plays. He would also often keep you guessing at down and distance and if you are lucky, he might tell you how much time was left in the quarter. There were a couple of times where South had a huge gainer, and they would run couple of plays after that and he failed to tell you where the ball was at. I had to dust off my crystal ball to try to see if I could come up with some of the game details.

  41. Statistically, ignoring basically all other real world factors and common sense, teams should only win a sectional about every decade and state championship every half century.

  42. Honestly, the coolest part of the story is the kids commitment. Commitment to his home town, teammates, and coaches. His commitment to a MAC school when he could've gone to a more prestigious school by the sounds of it. His leadership on and off the field. I've watched a few of Triton Centrals games on IHSAATV. The kids a very talented QB and football player. It sounds like his character and who he is as a person is going to take him even farther in life.

  45. Thank you for that revision. It was greatly appreciated. And give a thanks to Mrs. Gillenwater as well. In response, of course I realize families want to utilize school choice for the child's athletic endeavors. But does the IHSAA accept "because Johnny was told by the head coach he could be the starting QB this season" as the truthful Reason for Transfer on the IHSAA Transfer Report? I've always been told the answer is "no".

  46. Metzger will throw for 300 + Exactly what @RegionFBFan stated, the game will be on a very good FAST bermuda grass field with no moisture in sight. You cannot blitz and sell out to get to Metzger because they will get the ball out incredibly fast, then what, you have an secondary who won't be able to run and catch up with those WRs. Who will LaVille counter with to shut down a 6'7 WR? LaVille has had an outstanding year, their is another level of football in Lafayette area then our friends farther north. As seen by West Lafayette beating Hanover Central last week. LaVille NEEDED a monsoon imo, they didn't get it this week like they did week 10

  47. St. Louis de Montfort is out of Fishers. Closest to Guerin, although Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Seton, and Maria Goretti are probably considered closer.
