1. Governor Holcomb 2. IHSAA 3. HS football tournament Week 1 this weekend. 4. None of these negative posters have any authority or power to change anything. Keep posting... doesn’t matter... We playin ball !4 points

The same dudes that are saying we won't have a tournament are the same guys that got on here and proclaimed without equivocation...we WILL NOT finish regular season. I know where I will place my bet.4 points

IHSAA, teams, schools and counties have all implemented guidelines based upon data and the facts surrounding the current situation. We’ve had a great season. Looking forward to watching teams play in a great tournament. Looking forward to watching the seniors play out their final games of their careers. This topic / post has my vote for the worst of this season.4 points

I've always seen it as an easy way to reduce risk even just a little bit. You can't get away from players contacting each other during the play, but you can get away from players contacting each other after the game. We wear masks on the field before and after the game and during halftime but take them off during the game. It's not a huge difference, but it's an easy way to control when we can reduce exposure (never eliminate).3 points

I find a severe lack of coherent and logical thought with your posts, but alas spewing any kind of misinformation during your "hiatus" is very much your modus operandi.3 points

Nothing wrong with Sagarin, MaxPreps, etc., etc. You simply can’t apply analytics to closed conferences because there aren’t any links to the remaining 310 teams in the state. It baffles me that folks can’t wrap their head around this. This year, the SIAC also became a closed conference (along with the SAC). Now you have 20 teams (@6.25% of the HS teams playing football) from 2 conferences from opposite corners of the State that you really can’t evaluate THROUGH ANY ANALYTICAL APPROACH until post-season play begins. The problem isn’t with Sagarin, MaxPreps, etc.2 points

Colts games are being played with 12,500 spectators distanced throughout the stadium. I've been to the last two games and people are very spread out. Concessions are prepackaged only, not a lot of crowding at entrances. I think the finals will be fine, especially if each school gets a specific allotment. Lucas Oil has 63K seats. It's a pretty big place.2 points

Congrats to the Mustangs...the 2020 Unified Football State Champs. Congrats to all teams that made it through the season. Can't wait until 2021.2 points
-
Congrats to all the Unified Teams for getting the season accomplished! That is no small feat as the athletes could be considered in the high risk category and their teammates (considered partners in the rules) had to be aware and unselfish. Football by the spirit of the game in its purest form in my opinion.2 points

It's almost never a COVID "outbreak"...it's one positive case contact tracing out 15-30 kids who will never get the disease.2 points

When you've beaten the hell out of each other for 2 hours, it only makes sense to stay away from a handshake.2 points

Question. No players tested positive so why couldn’t they just quarantine the ones that were involved with the contact tracing? Unless the majority of the team was which I heard is not the case.2 points

It is only bonkers for the closed conferences like the SIAC. You guys need to fire either Jasper or Vincennes and send them to the PAC so you can go out into the world with a non-conference game.1 point

There's Mopi, from looking at the bracket, how does Mooresville feel about an potential East Central/Silver Creek matchup1 point

No, he is an excellent passer and that ability to throw the ball will surprise a lot of teams! This Eastbrook team is better rounded than any other Eastbrook team in recent memory!1 point

It’s the contact tracing that is hurting teams throughout the year. If you got rid of contact tracing we wouldn’t be having near the cancellations.1 point

If thinking logically about the situation one would realize that the number of teams playing will 1/2 every week from here on out. As the number active players decreases the likelihood of disruption to the tournament decreases proportionally. You don’t have to comprehend Zenos paradox nor apply basic statistics.... just 7th grade math. I assume most posters made it through middle school but perhaps not.1 point

In the WRC, the schools have decided that even if the county has gone RED, extra curricular activities will continue. I think the local health departments must be loosening up on what they are advising.1 point

We use measurables in business and general life every everyday. Productivity, quality, efficiency......gas mileage, ...... but having a kid earn something, like a higher grade now is racist....Sad.1 point

This team may be one of the most balanced run\throw team that I have seen since the Caudill kids in the late 90s early 2000s. I say balanced, 100ish passing a game and 300ish rushing per game is balanced for Eastbrook...lol... Again, he is getting those yards mostly in just a half. I wish instead of games played this showed minutes played. My only worry is with the weak schedule at the end of the season, the starters have only played 4 quarters out of the last 12. I don't see them playing in the 2nd half this week either.1 point

I will be deplugged these next few days, so early write up for the games this week: New Prairie (5-4) @ Plymouth (1-5): Not much to talk about here. Glad the Rockies will get in one last game to their season and happy to hear all things seem to be clear with Coach Barron. No reason to think the Cougars don't roll here... New Prairie by 17 Wawasee (3-6) @ NorthWood (3-3): Strange, strange seasons for these two. Wawasee was 1 of 2 (the other Warsaw) NLC schools to play all 9 of their regularly scheduled games. Impressed (?) that the Warriors were finally able to get back into the victory column over Goshen last week. Alas, those feel good feelings will subside by halftime at Andrews Field. Panthers are fresh off a forced bye week after a heck of a battle and victory over Warsaw two weeks ago. No reason to think this game won't go similar to the September 18th matchup... NorthWood by 21 Leo (8-1) @ Northridge (6-2): Tough loss by the Raiders at home last week, but the Cavemen are on a roll. Will Northridge be able to stop their 3rd run dominant team they've faced this year after going 0-2 against Warsaw and Mishawaka? The Lions are a popular "darkhorse" pick in 4A north this year (with most of the conversation being on the 4A south schools, plus Lowell and Hobart). I will be pulling for the Raiders, but my head tells me Leo will grind out a tough victory. Their defense has 5 shutouts on the year, and only once given up more than 14 points this season. That was in their only loss (17-34) to #2/#3 ranked Mooresville on short notice week 2. Only 1 Northeast 8 opponent put up more than a TD against Leo this year, and that was bottom dweller Bellmont. I just do not believe Northridge will be able to score enough points to win the game... Leo by 131 point

As a fan of a team that has a legit chance to get to state and as someone who lives with a person who is vulnerable to the virus, I must admit I’m very torn in this discussion, but I hope the IHSAA doesn’t shut down the tournament unless infection rates continue to increase. Football has been a great escape and has provided a sense of normalcy during all of this for both the kids and the fans and I’d hate to see the tournament end like that. However, if infection rates got close to 20%, I think the IHSAA would have to take a hard look at ending the tournament, but I really hope that doesn’t happen, nor do I think it will to be honest.1 point

Looks like success factor wasn't enough to counteract the inherit human capital advantages P/Ps enjoy, time to add a multiplier to it. Oh....the tournament will go on as that is $$$ time. Is there any evidence that HS football games have contributed to higher "case counts" in Indiana?1 point

You must be a New Palestine graduate. Yep. The state finals, if they are even played, will be yawners.1 point

With the regular season being over officially on the sub varsity level tomorrow, it's time to lock this one down. Thank you to all who contributed and kept us up to date. Being a part of a program that had to look for an alternative, it was great having this as a resource. Best of luck to all teams in the playoffs.1 point

Hope it happens sooner than that. It was doomed from the first hearsay post.1 point

Yep. I honestly expect them to garner those 2 points this year. They have to be one of the favorites coming out of the South to show up at LOS. I, admittedly, have some personal attachment to seeing either GS or Lawrenceburg coming out of the South but it’s going to be fun to watch the 3A South playoffs unfold....much like 4A.1 point

The Biden Protection Racket https://www.nationalreview.com/2020/10/the-biden-protection-racket/ Agreed. The unabashedly liberal MSM is treating Mr. Biden with kids gloves at a level they never extended to Mr. Obama and Ms. Clinton during their presidential election runs.1 point

Bob, we can't debate or refute anything oldunclemark says because he knows all of this for a fact. I guess in all of my travels for 1A and 2A football over 30+ years, I haven't seen the same schools that he has, or had the same experiences. I guess I'll leave this debate up to you because I don't care to debate someone as closed-minded as OUM. Cheers! How many walk-ups does Tri Central get? Or Carroll, Clinton Prairie, etc...? I guess them city slickers don't realize how far out in the boonies some of these places are.1 point
