First time I've ever seen T.C. Howe referred to as a mega school.

Then why try to knock it down or lessen it or cheapen it if it is so rare? Folks seem really excited about playing "The Monsters Are On Maple Street." I believe that, in 1A, there are only three programs to have made four visits to state championships in a five-year period. Sheridan LCC Pioneer If CC gets to that level, then by all means, let's hand out the pitchfork and torches, but until then how about we take a bit of a breather and realize just how rare the accomplishment is and how much it should be celebrated across the board.

Shout out to “The Twilight Zone” reference featuring the late great Claude Akins who grew up in Bedford. Kudos my friend. Quick anecdote...I was told many years ago that Akins used to oft return to Bedford to visit a beloved, aged teacher who was particularly influential in his early life until she finally passed. The guy usually played decent “rough” blue collar guys which belied degree from Northwestern.

One thing I'll disagree with Bob on is whether we would consider this IP under HS rules. I definitely would. Having that many substitutes (definition of the people who came on during the play) on the field very much could influenced the play. At that point the officials have no idea who the original 11 players were for either team. Similar to BD/WC in 2019 when WC players ran on to the field after a blocked FG they thought ended the game. The crew ruled IP rather than IS because of this very reason (I agreed with their call). I would only go with IS if they came on the field but were nowhere near the play as it happened (say 5-10 yards on and stopped and ran back). I would have IP on both sides and along with the IFP offset and replay the down. The LOD aspect of the IFP doesn't matter at this point. I had heard the ruling on the field was the IFP ended the play. They ruled UNS for the players being on the field but treated it similar to IS in HS (which is entirely in their judgement). Most college officials I've talked to thought it probably should have been treated as an egregious act and ruled it as a double foul and replay the down because they had so many players from both teams on the field. If I hear anything from any training videos I'll try to share it here. Neither call would be "wrong" but one may be more right than another and ultimately decided by the grader in this case. A good friend of mine told me once, some calls aren't right or wrong. They are just calls.

As a long time Cavemen football fan (40 plus years) except for the driving I like the move. Overall the games have been more competitive and I was excited to see my first game at NW. I think/hope you will see an ever better version of Cavemen football next season.

@DanteEstoniaI'm our head track coach and I use it to communicate with all of my athletes. I'm able to post workouts, schedules, resources, videos, etc. And they can message me on there if they need something, or need to talk. And they have an IOS app. So for that, I love it.

Just speaking from experience as a fan more so than anything. I've only had the pleasure of visiting ONE SEC stadium in my lifetime. The B10 loves its football, as does the SEC.

1. A 2-3 record indicates that this is NOT "a good Wisconsin team." 2. Road wins mean less in 2020 than ever and I could actually make a case that playing on the road is an ADVANTAGE in the current setup. 3. Penn State is 3-5. They are also not a good team that is worth boasting about. Teams ARE what they ARE at this point in the season. 4. I used to get upset about these things, but as I mentioned in the Notre Dame thread, SEC teams ALWAYS get a bump. Hell, A&M is likely getting a free pass to the playoff despite not winning its OWN division after this weekend's games shake out. 5. You used "Iowa State" in your title to simply push your "IU is getting screwed" agenda. 6. I couldn't care less that IU is a good football team. Its actually pretty damn cool to see.

I don't even think it's a debate. Defense wins championships and Ohio State's leaves a lot to be desired. Notre Dame beats Ohio State this year 8 times out of 10. Can someone please fill me in as to why Ohio State continues to be put on a pedestal along with Clemson and Alabama? Clemson (even with their loss this year to the Irish) and Alabama are in a league of their own. I get sick to my stomach every time someone mentions them in the same sentence as the other two. In 2014 they looked mediocre before bringing in their 3rd string quarterback. That's when the Buckeyes hit their stride on their way to impressive victories over Wisconsin, Alabama, and Oregon. But what have they done between 2015 & 2020 other than solidify their spot as the 3rd best program in the country? Absolutely nothing to deserve being mentioned along the same lines as Bama and Clemson. And they better take notice, because the Irish are closing the gap fast for that 3 spot. On another note, the Big Ten is making fools out of themselves. First it was canceling the season only to concede later on by allowing their football programs to play. Now it's changing the rules so that the leagues best team (or one of the top two if you want to consider IU's near victory over them in Columbus) can play in the league championship. It's starting to look comical on my end, not sure how everyone else feels.

If those 3A numbers are correct I've got it this way. Tri-West and Danville would both go north and could potentially be separated (Danville stays south). Heritage Hills is odd man out and has to go East. South Bend area splits half to region half to the Fort. NOTRE DAME FIT First and foremost, Notre Dame wants a quarterback that can go through progressions and beat teams from the pocket. Buchner has the arm strength, release speed, accuracy and intelligence to become that kind of player. Buchner has the athleticism and running talent to do damage when plays break down, and he can make plays out of the pocket. He can do all the things that Ian Book did in the last month, but Buchner is bigger, more athletic, more dynamic and has a much better arm than Book possessed at the same age. He and Phil Jurkovec were the two highest graded quarterbacks to sign with Notre Dame in the last decade. While Jurkovec had better size, was far more productive in high school and had a stronger arm, Buchner has a more concise throwing motion and is a bit more comfortable playing from the pocket.

The ultimate ruling was that there was an illegal forward pass and, after that, there was a fumble recovered by a prone player, so the play was over at that point. Rendered everything sort of moot. No TD. BSU wins.

Going to have to take exception to this, at least under NF rules. For this to be illegal participation, the people crossing the sideline would have to touch the ball, hinder an opponent, or “otherwise participate.” I didn’t see this. It fits much more closely with 9-8-1,“Being on the field except as a substitute or replaced player.” That makes it unsportsmanlike conduct. It makes a big difference because if the foul on BSU is unsportsmanlike, the live ball foul for illegal forward pass against WMU is enforced and, because its penalty includes loss of down, the period is not extended, the score is canceled, and the game is over. On the other hand, if you call it illegal participation, it combines with the WMU foul to create a double foul. By rule, a double foul during a down in which time expires requires that the period be extended by an untimed down. 3-3-3b. The down would be replayed at the previous spot.

Warren Central's football stadium is called Warrior Stadium. I think it should be named for the late Larry Willen.

Can it be August now?

I know this will come off as unpopular, but here I go.... Do players for successful programs get penalized(not recognized) because of the overall success of their team? Center Grove's defense was outstanding. I believe they should have more players honored. Since you have the likes of curry, Booker, Schott, etc. already on team, should that limit other players? I watched the Chatard - Danville game. 2 very good teams, but way clearly one more dominate. Chatard's defense was lights out. Yet, only 1 defensive player on the any list. Danville actually had as many all state selections as Chatard. Is that possible? Roncalli beat Mount Vernon and Mooresville so bad that you could take an all star team and they would still lose to Roncalli. Yet, Mount Vernon and Mooresville each had 5 selections to Roncalli's 4. Cathedral dominated 5A and had 7 selections. I would say the weakest opponents they faced this year were Whiteland and Decatur Central. DC never stopped the Irish losing 42-7 yet had 5 defensive players. Whiteland got tourched in the trenches. They had 42 yards of total offense b4 Cathedral put in JV. But, Whiteland had 4 OL/DL/TE selections to Cathedral 2. If you were to tell me Danville has 5 all state players, I would assume Chatard to have 10. MV and Mooresville have 5 each, then Roncalli would have 10. If DC and Whiteland have 6 each, Cathedral could possibly have as many as 15. So I ask, do players on successful teams get penalized for being too good?

Those are some head scratchers. Almost like they based it more on regular season. 4A would seem to favor this assumption Top50 + Senior and Junior All State totals: Mt Vernon - 5 Mooresville - 5 Hobart - 4 (Included in the 4 is a position award winner) Lebanon - 3 Western - 4 Roncalli - 4 (Beat each of the first four by 3+ touchdowns in playoffs and would have done the same to Western) EC may have the biggest beef with only 3.

Again, fact are facts. I'm sorry you do not like facts. If there's an L to take, it's yours in comprehension. Penn is down and the last 3 years demonstrate that. They are winless against Marian over that period of time. The fact that they lost to Marian once doesn't necessarily mean they are down by itself. But when you look at it with all the other things I presented (you copied the whole paragraph btw) and compare it to their program history, I think any rationale person would conclude that they are down. I doubt many Penn fans and/or former players would debate that. I don't think current players or coaches would tell you that the results of the past three years are up their standards. But you keep fighting that battle. You may even convince yourself.
