  3. OK...the games have been played, and the hypotheticals are completely irrelevant at this point. Hopefully, we can finish the season strong with as few cancellations or rescheduled games as possible.

  6. I'm not so sure. I've heard the IHSAA is not going to give out Sectional trophies this year, but instead "Top 48 Sagarin" trophies at the end of week 10. I could be mistaken though. 😄

  7. I bet they play Madden endlessly also and speak confidently based on their experience hitting the sticks.

  8. I’m not really in the pick em. But I’ll do some analysis just for fun. East vs Chatard. I really do think East is starting to figure it out. FC didn’t play terribly, outside of a couple bad passes in the Redzone. The East running game is getting better. I think Chatard wins this game but I expect that East will hang around in that game for a while. Seymour vs Jennings County. JC is pretty much a win for everyone. 1 step forward, and 2 steps back. Seymour is an enigma. They can play well one week and not so well the week after. You never know with them? It’s been that way since Goodman left. Seymour here. FC vs BNL. BNL fans probably feel like they should get this one. And I’d be obliged to agree if this game were up there. But FC seems to be getting better by the week, and the schedule softening helps as well. FC hasn’t won a game at home this season. Should be a good crowd on hand, and BNL has a very dangerous QB. However Robertson is the next QB star in this conference and I predict that him and WR Branham have big games. FC in a close one. Game of the week. Jeffersonville vs New Albany. I’m picking Jeffersonville in an upset. New Albany loves to stub their toe. And Steve Cooley teams are known for it. They’re going to lose 1 more HHC game. Either this one, or against FC. I’m picking this one. Jeffersonvilles defense did a great job vs Silver Creek. I think Silver Creek is better than New Albany and Jeffersonville was able to beat them on the road. Jeffersonville in a close one. And before any of my fans bust my chops, these are only “my opinions.” I don’t claim to be an all knowing expert or a Nostradamus of Football. Just throwing that out there.

  14. Something tells me you've never stepped foot on Cathedral's campus or else you would let this die. Cathedral's inability to have an on-site football stadium has only been rehashed on the GID about 30 times. They don't own the surrounding land to put up bleachers and the surrounding landscape doesn't support infrastructure even if they did. That doesn't even account for the local ordinance that prohibits stadium lights due to the surrounding neighborhoods. And we haven't even discussed the issue of parking. There's not enough parking spaces for all the students who are eligible to drive, let alone 5000 extra people. Cathedral is located on an extremely busy road with no available parking or walking access. Get to Arlington early on 10/14 and think before you type next time.

  16. Chatard was dominate last year and got taken to the wire by both Concordia and Mishawaka Marian in the tournament. BJ may be the favorite to represent the North but far from a lock. Might not even make it out of 28.

  17. The abortion issue is kind of a quagmire for Christian conservatives. On one hand, if you believe abortion is murder, then you would be inclined to support a law such as the latest Texas legislation. BUT - a true conservative wouldn't want the government involved in his/her (a true conservative also believes there are only 2 genders) life any more than necessary either. Abortion is legal in the US as well as many other places in the world, so as a fundamental conservative I choose to let the abortion issue lie as per the Federal legislature/courts guidance whether I like it or not.

  19. At what point does the conference scrap the all-in conference schedule in Jr High/Middle School football? The current state is not productive for anyone. Multiple schools don’t have enough kids to play a full game. Lopsided scores are common. Any thoughts?

  22. I turned the game off at 24-13 with 9:34 left. Did a double take when I saw the 41-13 final score on the score ticker. On the contrary, I hope I'm wrong once again about an ND score. 😉

  23. Expectation? Expect to win by at least 40. They beat us by 8 and we turned over the ball FIVE TIMES. You will win and win big. They are obviously decent but they aren't at GS level. It may not be your toughest conference game...maybe I'm wrong, but you are looking at winning by 6 scores IMO.

  24. As Back Judge, if B12 has a chance to make it off the field before the snap, then #2, if I know B12 will not make it off the field before the snap, then #1. My reasoning is if B12 doesn't make it off the field, B12 may then decide to participate in the play & I want to avoid that penalty if at all possible.

  27. I love basketball more than any other sport but here I am on this site. Why? Because Columbus East basketball sucks and our gym sucks even worse. Hard to get excited for it but, thankfully, we’ve been blessed with football. Gives me another football team besides the Green Bay Packers to get excited for.

  30. Why no love for Sagarin? It’s not his fault that some conferences are “closed.” Except for the closed conferences, for whom the algorithms he uses don’t work well, his system is amazingly accurate at predicting winners, especially in the playoffs. He doesn’t sit in an office with a pencil and a green eye shade figuring out which teams to disrespect this week. It’s all math once you develop the algorithms. You folks who do nothing but complain because the Sagarin rankings don’t jibe with what you think should be the order, let’s see you pick against Sagarin and do a better job over the long haul. Believe me, you won’t.

  31. Roughing the snapper/kicker/holder/passer is 15 yards and automatic 1st down. Running into the kicker is 5 yards and replay the down, unless the LTG has been reached.

  32. Just don't let Twin Lakes past midfield. Kicker nailed a 55 yard FG last night. Very impressive punting as well.

  35. You've got that right! Tough for the community! Blake's farming accident, and also lost a member of the senior class (Hailee Houston) from a car accident that happened a couple weeks ago while driving to the football game. Really puts things in proper perspective. The Patriots will show up and give it all they have and play for Blake #25.

  36. It's been well discussed before, the SAC and SIAC both suffer in Sagarin Ratings because they play "closed" schedules of 9 game only conference teams. It messes with the Sagarin Ratings because of this. Things will change drastically after the first week of the tournament when they play teams outside of conference play.

  37. Thought you might enjoy this. https://babylonbee.com/news/new-study-proves-refs-are-totally-biased-against-your-team# New Study Proves Referees Are Totally Biased Against Your Team CAMBRIDGE, MA—Sports researchers at Harvard have proven that the officials are totally biased against your favorite teams. Their report, entitled the Referee Equity and Fairness (REF) study, will be published next month in Sports Illustrated. Dr. James Fairplay, the lead researcher on the study for more than two decades, said the results were hardly surprising. “We always suspected the refs were against you, but now we have empirical evidence to back up our hypothesis,” he noted. “The REF study proves that the referees, umpires, judges, and other officials at all levels of sport are most definitely always biased against your favorite teams.” The study, which was the first of its kind, looked at thousands of sporting events since the year 2000. Researchers interviewed hundreds of players, coaches, and fans of all teams involved and asked them to rate the fairness of the officials on anonymous surveys. “We found strong evidence of referee bias against your teams in every single survey,” Fairplay noted. “This was true at every level, from pee-wee to the pros, and even at the Olympics. Whichever teams you were rooting for, the refs were definitely against them. Honestly, we’re not sure why nobody picked up on this before.” Fairplay also said referee bias is almost certainly the reason why your team didn’t make the playoffs last year, and why your fantasy team is doing so poorly. Now that the REF study is concluded, Fairplay said researchers will turn their attention to figuring out whether the broadcasters calling the game on TV are actively rooting against your favorite teams as well.

  38. My apologies. I meant SR75/SR32. SR47 goes thru Thorntown (had a great BBQ chicken meal at the Lions shelter during the Festival of the Turning leaves this past weekend) and SR75 goes south of town towards Dover. Hmm. It appears the Western Boone football program has outgrown the little 'ole Sagamore conference. It now has bigger fish to fry............... Look for the Sagamore conference to be gutted within the next five years. One can easily see the likes of Western Boone, Danville, Tri-West, and Lebanon fleeing to greener pastures of the Indianapolis metro/urban-sprawl athletic conferences.
