Judson plays Carroll (Flora) tonight so if you're wondering why no one is responding it is because there is no interest in hearing about Winamac any further. I started posting on the GID three years ago and have had to hear about this 2021 Winamac team for several years now. Winamac was the favorite on JH site before the sectional started by a wide margin. Take solace in that. It is all you have to celebrate after this season. Winamac has possession of the traveling HNAC trophy. That is your prize for the year. You have the pleasure of holding that trophy until week 1 when Knox beats Winamac by 30 to open the 2022 season. Put it to rest and eat crow. Your mouth wrote a lot of checks and I'm sure that burning sensation in the back of your mind is your conscience telling you to let it go, but your pride and ego simply stand in the way.

Was a little bored last night and I was looking at programs that I generally call "South of the Indy Metro Area". Bloomington, Columbus, Evansville, Jeffersonville, SE Indiana and all points in between. On a previous thread there was talk about program strength and tradition. I decided to take a look and ranked them on State Titles, Runner Ups, Sectionals and I threw in Mr. Footballs as a last tie breaker. I looked at playoff era only. I noticed a couple of things: 1. If Gibson Southern were to win this year, it really speaks to the turn around in the program Nick Hart has done. All of the other winners from the South have at least 10 sectionals to their credit, indicating consistant winning. GS only has four and NH has all of them. I hope they get it. 2. Long droughts - 27 years since last state title appearance for Castle and 20 for Jasper. Also Jasper longest sectional title drought for those who have won state titles. 3. Memorial - The Hurley success has allowed Memorial to really jump to the top.

But young kids are also less coordinated and have less strength to withstand an impact and more importantly, control their bodies (head) when they go to the ground. I'm not a big fan of these kinds of youth tournaments. Our feeder program is tied very closely to the feeder schools, so we are often limited because of when our designated season ends. We have on occasion had teams participate in these kinds of things. I know we had a 5th or 6th grade team play in an event a few weeks ago. My biggest concern is the inability of some adults to do what's in the kid's best interest because they are trying to relive their own glory days. I shudder when I see twitter videos of "baby" Derrick Henrys in youth leagues running over much smaller defensive players. Certainly do not know enough about any of these events to judge, just giving my personal thoughts.

Ohio State's passing defense isn't exactly a strength. Middle of the pack in the BIg Ten. But, to your point, better than MSU. Still, they are on a 24-game Big Ten winning streak for a reason (Purdue in 2018 was their last conference loss). It would be a very big upset for Purdue to go to Columbus and win. That hasn't happened since John Cooper was patrolling the sidelines for Ohio State. But Purdue is playing with house money in this one. If Ohio State gives them an opening, AOC can get hot and the Purdue defense is salty this year. It could be a game if OSU isn't on top of things. If they are, they can blow out most teams in the country at home.

Certainly going to be hard to win when you lose your starting qb and rb. Souths d was. . .. .. okay ...... was a tad disappointed in the defense but they were on the field alot since the offense couldn't move the ball with a soph backfield. Still would have expected to compete to win even in that scenario but it just didn't happen. Cathedral will wipe up the southern semistate as we know they would regardless who won this one.

The rumor I heard was TC was going to set a 11 AM start time tomorrow, which is why MD requested a Friday game. IHSAA is eager to step in when $$ from streaming could be at stake. Yet nowhere to be found when start times are set.

Zach David left the North game late in the 3rd with what appeared to be a concussion or concussion-like symptoms, but there has been nothing in the articles leading up to tonight's game that indicates he won't be playing. Here's a quote in the game capsule this morning in the Bloomington paper. "Giving Che Hogue and Zach David ample room to run with eat up yardage and clock will help send South back to the semistate." In the sectional championship game against North, Che Hogue had 191 yards on 28 carries and three TDs, while Zach David had 71 yards on the ground before he left the game late in the 3rd with the injury. I think that the Bulldogs' defense is such that South will be able to run on them, and I will be surprised if that doesn't happen. South just needs to stay away from the equalizers such as turnovers and key penalties at the wrong time.

Even if they had the ability, they have to make a request to the IHSAA, who then has to approve their broadcast, which is not always a sure thing.

It just goes to show that the IHSAA has a lot of work to do with regard to the tournament.

I have watched a couple of games. From what I have seen the Irish defense has looked very good. If I were to pick something of a weakness of the defense it would be their occasional mental lapses. By that I mean when they have a lapse and unnecessary penalties that extend a drive like an encroachment etc. They play fast and physical though. I do admit I have only watched New Pal against Decatur Central (a game they should have won) and last week against Whiteland. Aside from the 1 long TD run Whiteland had early on (listening to Coach Ralph at halftime talk about that play made me chuckle his wording was perfect and I enjoy listening to him speak what goes through his mind). New Pal doesn't tend to have a wow factor player on their team and they are young. I am very impressed how well they play as a team. I am also impressed with their improvement from week 1 to now (even though they should have won the week 1 game). You can tell Coach Ralph and staff work really hard on the fundamentals and conditioning of their players. I would say all of you are thankful each passing week for the mind Coach Ralph has when it comes to football, his players, staff, and community. More importantly I hope Max is having fun and you are having fun watching him play! Has Sampson cut his hair yet (I kid I kid).

FWIW, I have heard much respect for the Irish defense and the defensive line in particular.

I think the whole Live Video Streaming thing is going to be an issue top to bottom for every school.
