I don't care if you're Bill Belichick. Temptation is spot on. 6A would be so much better if the threat from the North wasn't someone in Hamilton County. The North HAS NOT been competitive in State Championship games. It is sad, and I'm as MIC-Centric as anyone. I would love to see those old Ben Davis/Penn slobberknockers again that were decided by 7 points or less seemingly every time, but the last time Ben Davis and Penn played...well...I'll be kind. I respect the Kingsmen. I respect Snider and the other schools that BD has had battles with over the years.3 points

Not sure what playing football has to do with the fact that teams outside of Hamilton County haven't been within 12 points of the South Semi-State Champs since your Kingsmen's win in 2000 in the largest class. No, it's not all about Championships, but I believe the point was that 6A would be better if someone outside the Indy area was better. I never played high school football either, though. What do I know?2 points

Lol...........bla bla bla. The Rocks had one great season (more to come hopefully) and it still wasn't enough to come out on top of 6a. The rest of their good teams were 5a state caliber good. You guys have one really good example down there, Center Grove. Good for them. Coach Moore has done a fabulous job in building arguably the best program in Indiana.2 points

We need a true 6A power in the North to rise up and challenge the Indianapolis area hegemony. If for no other reason being we can use GoT images like this:2 points

And at least I list my school that I went to and played for . My guess is the only Football you ever played was in a video game , but you talk smack about Northern schools . I have a blue ring that I earned in football , how many do you have ?2 points

And if we're going back to year 2000, it's only fair to include the Snider 2004 team. I maintain, they were the best team in the state during the regular season when they had their D1 running back. Warren was given a gift with him sitting on the bench with a broken ankle. Few and far between, whatever, I get it.2 points

Only mentioned it because @hhpatriot04forgot to include me in the pick em standings.2 points

Warren Central shouldn't be ranked 4th. The Warriors have lost 5 straight to Center Grove. Just my 2 cents2 points

Games for Week 2 in the WIC Friday, Aug. 26 Cloverdale at Edinburgh, 7 pm Indian Creek at Greenwood, 7 pm Jennings County at Brown County, 7 pm Monrovia at Edgewood, 7 pm North Putnam at Southmont, 7 pm Northview at Greencastle, 7 pm South Putnam at Owen Valley, 7 pm South Vermillion at Sullivan, 7 pm West Vigo at Parke Heritage, 7 pm Cloverdale @ Edinburgh - Cloverdale might not win a game this year. I'll take Edinburgh. Indian Creek @ Greenwood - I'll take Indian Creek in a close game on the road. IC wins 31-24. Jennings County @ Brown County - Honestly I don't know. Could go either way. I'll take the home team BC 14-13. Monrovia @ Edgewood - Edgewood looks to be improving but I'll take Monrovia 35-21. North Putnam @ Southmont - Don't know much about either team but I'll take Southmont 35-14. Northview @ Greencastle - Greencastle always has a tough defense. Northview has a strong running attack. Greencastle hasn't been able to get over that Northview hump since 2016. I'll take Northview 35-14. South Putnam @ Owen Valley - This will be a blood bath. Both teams can put points on the board. Who's defense will rise to the occasion and get a stop or two? Toss up for me. I'll take OV at home 35-28. South Vermillion @ Sullivan - This has the potential to be a really good game. They've played some close games the last 2 years. SV has a stout line on both sides of the ball. Running game is strong because of that. Don't know much about Sullivan yet but they've been really solid for the last decade. I'll take Sullivan at home 21-14. West Vigo @ Parke Heritage - WV didn't look great last week. Offense couldn't move the ball much. Defense looked okay at times. Too many penalties. Parke Heritage struggled with Linton but that was expected after losing star QB Christian Johnson. Could be a close game as well. Whoever turns it over less and has the least penalties should probably win. Toss up game for me as well. I'll take the bigger school and more experienced QB, WV wins 28-14.1 point

IMO Snider (D Mainly) looked a bit better this year than they did against the Legends last year. Not sure what that means, North had a lot of their team back from last year. Maybe Snider was caught off guard last year and they didn't let that happen last week. Carroll this Friday will be a good gauge on this years team. Snider looks small on the line for sure, hope that is not an issue as year goes on.1 point

I hope not. Penn has the athletes to compete with the Indy schools. They are competitive in other sports. Usually top 10 every year in Wrestling and we just won another baseball state title 2 months ago. Hopefully someone will get this football program figured out .1 point

Attica over Tri County for their only win of the season, 18-13 Crawfordsville over Fountain Central, 33-19 Liptons over NV, 42-14 Seeger over BC, 20-0 South Newtons over Trojans, 35-20 South Vermilions over Sullivan, 28-27 West Vigo over the Wolfs, 20-18 Riverton Parke over GVC, 34-281 point

Unfortunately all there are is highlight tapes no one streamed because merrillville doesn’t allow streaming at home games for them1 point

Much respect for Penn, but they weren't beating Snider that year even with Geesman. Good to have Penn guys back on the forum, you've been pretty quiet the past few years.1 point

Penn used to have an enrollment advantage over all but 2-3 schools in Indiana. That has dwindled as there are now several schools with 3000+ students. Competition in Indy is elite almost every week whereas it’s not in the NIC.1 point

Week Two Picks... Attica @ Tri-County - Both teams have been on the struggle bus the past few seasons. Both gave up over 50 points last week. The Red Ramblers' 53 points looks a little worse than the Cavaliers' 51 points. I don't think either team will score 50 points in this game. But some body's got to win. Home field advantage to the Cavaliers, 14-13. Fountain Central @ Crawfordsville - Looks like the Athenians executed well against Attica Last week. The Mustangs not so much, but Southmont was much better competition. I think this one will be a close one. Again, home field advantage for C-Ville, 34-24. Linton-Stockton @ North Vermillion - The Miners have dominated this regular season series, but it is always a good test for the Falcons. I see much of the same this week, Miners move to 2-0 in the WRC, 48-14. Seeger @ Benton Central - The Patriots traded punches with LCC last week for a minute before the Knights pulled away. The Bison got a season opening victory. BC used to dominate this game until recently. I think the Patriots rebound this week, but it's another close one, 28-21. South Newton @ Covington - The Rebels got a close win over their county rival. The first in a while. The Trojans blew out a bad Indy Washington team, although it was on the road. I think this one is another close game. Trojans might just have a few more athletes, 35-28. South Vermillion @ Sullivan - The Wildcats shut out a West Vigo team still struggling to find an identity. Sullivan handled a pretty decent North Knox team. I really like the home team in this one. Golden Arrows pull away in the end, 35-14. West Vigo @ Parke Heritage - Woolfs looked hapless versus the Miners. So did the Vikings against South Vermillion. This will be a Dog Fight. Vikings get their new head coach his first win, Woolfs have to wait until later, 24-20. Grand Valley Christian @ Riverton Parke - I've never even heard of GVC until this match up showed up on Harrell's site last week. Apparently, after some research, the Patriots are a pretty prolific passing team? The Panthers' win 2 hours away at 3A Pike Central last week was pretty ugly I heard. Still, it was a win. The Panthers' ground and pound offensive style takes the air out of GVC's passing attack, 24-121 point

This is a big factor. Add in the fact that MIC schools will now be looking for more non-conference games with CG and Carmel no longer in the league. This will give a chance to more non-Indy area teams to schedule them. I think a big reason why the HCC has made such significant strides is that most play 2 MIC teams for their non-con schedule in addition to their HCC schedule. Iron sharpens iron.1 point

Attica at Tri County - Tri County wins but I'm rooting for Attica Fountain Central at Crawfordsville - Looks like it might be another long season for the mustangs. Crawfordsville wins 24-8 Linton at North Vermilion - Linton is too tough for any WRC team. Linton win 55-12 Seeger at Benton Central - I got Seeger winning this one 34-12. Heard BC is not very good this year. South Newton at Covington - I noticed that the Keller kid did not play last week for Covington, is he playing this year? The kid was a stud last year! I'll take Covington 44-14. Heard that the young qb for Covington looked pretty good in week 1. South Vermilion at Sullivan - I think this has potential to be the game of the week. SV seems to be much improved defensively and offensively they haven't lost a step. Sullivan will be too much for the wildcats.. Sullivan wins 28-20 West Vigo at PH - If SV and Sullivan isn't the game of the week then this one is. PH surprises some people in this game and walk away winners.. 27-21 Grand Valley Christians at RP - I don't know anything about GVC but I'm guessing they aren't worth a darn, seems like RP couldn't find much competition in the non-conference games. When will we know if they are legit or not??? RP wins 40-121 point

The hierarchy of football in central Indiana has drastically changed, even in the last 5 years. WC and BD aren’t shells of their former selfs, and while you can attribute some of that to the pandemic, I’m not sure you’ll ever see either of those programs line up and dominate they way they used too, mega-enrollment or not. Center Grove is undoubtedly the pinnacle program of central Indiana (as well as the state) and Coach Moore has laid such a tremendous amount of ground work, I’m not sure that is ever going to be reversed. Carmel will always be Carmel, but they were human these last two years after going to the south half of the bracket. They will always be a contender, going north. Cathedral will be a 6A school for the foreseeable future. They will be a major player in 6A for years to come.1 point

Last week of non conference play. Who’s the early favorite? Attica at Tri County - it's like picking which ugly girl do you want to dance with. I'll take TC at home. Fountain Central at Crawfordsville - ugly girl selection #2. I'll take the home team again. Athenians with the W and a 2-0 record vs. Fountain County. Linton at North Vermilion - NV may put up a fight but the Miners are a true 2A south contender. Linton pulls away. Seeger at Benton Central - most years you take Seeger and it's over by the half. Not so fast my friend. Bison win under the windmills. South Newton at Covington - SN is 1-0 for the first time in a while. Covington went to Indy and beat the city speed. I'll take the Trojans to win. South Vermilion at Sullivan - the Arrows shoot down SV. West Vigo at Parke Heritage - the Vikings rape and pillage the Wolves and burn all the covered bridges. Vikings win. Grand Valley Christian at Riverton Parke - RP with a W in a battle with a Michigan school. I hate Michigan so no way I pick them to come to Indiana and escape with a win.1 point

I get it, we all get it. You just want to pump your chest saying "we're the greatest." Hell, you can't even admit that your Irish have advantages. Luers fans go home every year disappointed after getting thumped by Snider. Is it because Snider has a better program? Hardly. They have an enrollment advantage and Luers doesn't have a metro of 2 million to recruit from, like a certain program in Indy does. When you have an advantage, it's okay to admit it.1 point

This is too funny. I wasn't sure what you were referring to until I read that thread this morning. The sentence structuring and use of grammar are identical to a Parkhurst post. Unbelievably bizarre. Loved the last line of "Andrean4life" being worried that Cody was going to roast him. The entire schtick is starting to make a lot of sense.1 point

Center Grove has set the m.o.... resources, coaching, community buy in..population isn't mega yet they have enough talent roaming the halls..Penn's win last week went out with a whisper n they may be ready to "remind" us of who they are..Warsaw over mc by that margin may indicate they're ready to make a statement..as rf said though, "to be the man...."1 point

OL lost 4 starters from last year. Top sophomore lineman can’t play anymore, top frosh lineman who would probably have played broke his hand. Another OL lineman transferred to TC. Then 4 OL went out against Frankton with injuries or cramping. To put it simply, we could not block. There’s enough athletes and young talent that I think they’ll get it turned around. Defense had 4 sophomores and 3 freshman out there most of the second half and played outstanding but it was definitely a brutal first game.1 point

IMO Mooresville is too high.. I would still take Indy teams like LC, Zionsville, Pike, Chatard, Roncalli to beat them. Otherwise I think the list is great. Would also probably have schools like Merrillville and LC above Decatur Central but I think those would be closer games.1 point
