Where the Titans were victorious winning the game, 63-42 with a combined over 1000 total yards. But more will be on the line this time around, as a Sectional Championship will be on the line. Vincennes is looking to snap a 5-game losing streak against the Titans, while the Titans want to continue it and narrow the 12-8 VL series lead. Offensively, GS has been on a roll since Week 5 scoring up 30+ or more points in their 7-game winning streak. They overall possess a strong passing game under their QB, who happens to be one of the best rushers on the team. And has a plethora of receivers to throw too. GS’ starting RB has nearly put up an 1100-yard season with 11 TDs and provides a terrific spark on the field. One of the most balanced offensives in Southern Indiana as it almost split down the middle. Defensively Titans are very good in the trenches only allowing 78 rushing yards per game on 3.32 yards per carry. They have only suffered one game where they allowed 200+ rushing yards, which was against Boyle County (Ky) in Week 1. Since then has shut down most teams in the trenches. The Titans also have a pretty good passing defense too, only allowing around 133 yards per game. And has grabbed 9 interceptions so far on the season and allowed 11.63 yards per catch. Seems like most teams are willing to pass more, rather than run the ball. The Titans also love living in the backfield totaling up to 92 TFL on the season, with a ⅓ of those coming from one of their starting D-linemen (32 TFL). The Alices are still having their best season in the SIAC and are hoping to make it even better by winning a sectional championship. And avenge last year's loss to Gibson Southern in the first round. Offensively, everyone looks like their QB1, who is basically a Swiss army knife as he can be anywhere on the field with his talent and speed. And as a team, they have put up good points averaging 30.5 PPG, and have gotten a lot better with their QB1 fully back. Since they scored only 6 points in the last 3-week stretch of the regular season. The Alices also have a good RB1 who has a little over 900 yards on the season averaging around 6.3 yards per carry and as a team average of 7.1 yards per carry. Since their rushing game is primarily their strongest point on the offense. But, passing-wise, the Alices also have 3 players that have 200+ total yards on the season. Defensively, the Alices have gotten a lot better on their pass defense throughout the season. From being around 170 YPG in the early season, they have managed to drop it all the way down to around 114 YPG. While allowing 1 game over 100+ yards since Week 5. They also have picked up 14 interceptions so far this season and have dropped their YPC to down to 10.26 YPC. The rushing defense has seen its fair share of games as the season progresses as they allow 154 YPG, and has struggled a bit with the run-heavy offenses in the SIAC. However, there has been a lot of improvement too, since for a while, VL was hanging around the high 200/ low-mid 300 total YPG for a bit. And since Week 6 they have only allowed 44 points and 4 shutouts.

The thing that upsets me the most (not gonna get a lot of traction on a forum like this, though). Is that many don't see themselves as TEACHERS 1st. They see themselves as 'hype men' within a program, 1st and foremost. There are numerous programs that we as officials can readily see are there to 'win'...but they also can quickly turn off the testosterone and get back to coaching/teaching. It's a mutual respect thing. I am positive that a particular coach who's kinda "Caveman like" wants to win every time he steps on the gridiron. But I also know that when the rubber hits the road, he (and his staff) have the understanding that what they do and react to, will directly impact the young men and women within their program. This is true of the overwhelming majority of HS coaches that I have encountered. But when I deal with those that see a 'game' as more than that of a 'game'. It truly concerns me as to what is going on within that program. The focus is skewed to something else. Parents/Boosters/Players/Fans all then become the mob which we as officials then have to deal with. And you wonder why we can't recruit new officials? As much as we like to be fans of the players on a Friday night. Remember MOST of these players will be finished with athletics when the last whistle blows in a loss during the playoffs. You can count on 1 hand the number of players that have made it to the NFL in a significant manner within a 5 year period from this state. When its all said and done, what do you want YOUR program remembered for? Success, of course. But sometimes that success comes in the form being able to reach young people and change their lives in a positive way. Victories not withstanding!

This game has huge potential for a trap game for Vikings....BIG win over MD, fans storming the field, fans completely dismissing next opponent... It is usually a good approach to play them one game at a time come playoffs. Tempting the football gods here?

Not sure how you could Hate a program as rich in tradition as Snider . A school that has always punched above it's weight against the states biggest schools . A hall of fame Coach , D1 and NFL players, very passionate fan base , the list goes on . And I'm talking about a 40 + year body of work that is very impressive . I think a better word would be Respect for the Snider program .

All 32 teams in each class still get in. There are four regionals from eight sectionals. The suggestion is to conduct the blind draw within each of the four regions. Pretty good suggestion, and I don't think I've seen anyone propose this before.

Picks for sectional championship week: Warren Central @ Southport - Warren Central has a 4-6 record going into the game against a difficult schedule and three of their six losses were by four points or less. Southport managed two wins on the season counting their sectional opener win over Indy Tech which is a tiny improvement over the last two seasons where they went a combined 0-20. Their two wins this season were over opponents that finished a combined 0-20 on the season. I honestly don't know the situation there at Southport, but HC Alex Bettag is a combined 2-28 over three seasons going into this game, so one would have to think he is on thin ice there. The Warriors will win this game going away. Center Grove @ Columbus North - The Trojans lost their season opener to Ohio-power St. Edward and has since reeled off nine straight wins against a tough schedule. It's goes without saying that it would be a monumentally huge upset if the Bulldogs win this game, and they are probably headed for back-to-back 5-6 seasons. Center Grove wins the game by at least 4 TDs. Terre Haute South @ Whiteland - The Braves (5-5) head on the road to play a good, but not great Warriors team (6-4) out of the highly competitive Mid-State Conference. This appears to be the one game this week involving a CI team that may be pretty competitive. If TH South can get enough stops, they have a good enough offense to spring what would be a small upset. Whiteland is 3-1 on their home turf, so I'm going with them to win by 10-13 points. Bloomington South @ Seymour - South shut out the Owls on the Panthers' home field in game nine of the season while winning 47-0. I expect the Owls to change up a few things after reviewing tape of the first game, and probably try to spring some gadget plays on the Panthers. However, I think the Panthers balanced pass/run attack will still be too much again for the Owls. The Panthers would be wise to not take the Owls lightly after the first game, and I don't expect another shutout, but I do see the Panthers winning by 3+ TDs.

If the ball was kicked OOB on a particular side BEFORE it reached the goal line. You DO NOT have the option of choosing a hash. The ball should be placed on the hash that the ball went OOB. If there is a penalty administration, that is marked off. And the ball is STILL placed on the side the ball was kicked OOB.

Gotcha, I was including Bloomington HS as well. But from my recollection that is correct. Looks like it was more in the late 80’s when it got iffy. FWIW, local paper had the two teams playing only three times, in the article about last years game.

Are are talking about the same defense that gave up 441 (130 through the air and 311 on the ground) yards to Evansville north on 59 plays? The one that gives up more passing yards than any other teams in the SIAC not named Harrison or Central (same story as last season)? W or L any team that can throw the ball at all scored 3 TDs against VL. I think the question is...who has a good offense in the SIAC this year? Would you say North has a good offense? Is this a fabulous parody year in the SIAC as all of those 6-3 teams are just really good....or are they all just...meh?

I could see using Sagarin as a guide, but not the be all end all. I'm sure the IHSAA could form a committee with a group of volunteers who'd be more than happy to determine seeds. I think solely using the Sagarin will encourage some coaches, not all, to run up scores when they shouldn't.

Warsaw at Penn - Should be a good game. Penn should come away with a win here. Their defense has essentially shut-down everyone except for Cathedral. Yes, Warsaws offense is hard to stop but I think because they are so 1 dimensional Penn can sell out on the run and shut it down. "Bart Ball" is capable of throwing in a few wrinkles and trick plays but I don't think it's enough for the stout Kingsmen defense. The Penn offense isn't good enough to run away with it either. I'm thinking 28-14 or 24-17 type game. New Prairie at Culver Academy - Well NP survived the scare that I'm not totally shocked about. Hopefully it humbled the kids and makes them not overlook the Eagles. There were a handful of time the Cougars could have put away the Kougars last week but failed to do so, instead they committed some big untimely penalties and the KV team made some unbelievable plays to keep them in it. Treat it as a learning experience and be thankful you have a chance to win a sectional this week. Predicting a methodical 34-14 final score. Glenn at Knox - Glenn has put together a pretty good campaign in Barrons 2nd season. Don't think they have enough to get past an 11-0 Radtke led team. Barron is probably getting sick of running into ole' Russ in the playoffs as he has gotten the better of him in 2013 with an 8-2 team, 2014 going into the game with an 11-0 record, and in 2019 with a 9-2 team. Is this the year that JB gets his revenge? Maybe....But the head says Knox easily. Bremen at LaVille - LaVille has been solid for a decade now and probably would have a few more trophies in the case if it wasn't for Andrean and Pioneer having generational talent on their teams. I think this is the year LaVille can make a deep run and I don't see the Lions standing in their way.

End of the road for the WRC this year. At least both teams get to finish at home... Lafayette Central Catholic @ Seeger - Knights may get distracted at first by the windmills, but not for long. Patriots showed some life gutting out a tough one against Lewis Cass. This one may be closer, but not by much. LCC 35-14 Park Tudor @ North Vermillion - The Panthers have breezed through the first two rounds and should win the sectional again. The Falcons will make them work for it on their home field. PT 35-21

I know that they had around 10 sophomores contributing to varsity this year and their freshman team was solid. Also heard that one of their 8th grade teams finished undefeated. So I guess that they have talent coming up.

Good question. As a mid '90's Portage grad I remember Portage Pop Warner being fairly solid. Coaching at the Middle School levels was solid as well. Most of Portage's MS and HS coaches back then played for the legendary Don Howell at Hobart. I have no idea what's going on now in Portage other than demographics have drastically changed since the early 2000's and the HS is now over 50% free/reduced lunch. I have faith in the coaching and leadership abilities of Roydon Richards. Not sure if he has the tools needed though to build a winner.

Harbaugh treated the Vikings interview as if he had already been given the job and the interview was a mere formality. This turned off Viking execs and he was passed over. I'm not sure how this is going to play out but he's a walking putz that can't seem to stay out of his own way.

Warsaw with a big win last Friday...i assumed it would be a coin toss, but they won handedly...way to represent the NLC! NW game...that got out of hand quite quickly. I feel bad for Washington kids and am shocked that a team with 40is kids...only 20ish people came to watch them...I have no idea how they beat Plymouth the week prior. Mishawaka / Northridge / Concord did what they were supposed to last Friday. Wawasee...Hold you heads high! This team showed the greatest improvement in my opinion and have something to build on for next year. Warsaw and Penn should be a great game. If Warsaw plays like they did last Friday...watch out Penn. I watched the Penn / Mishawaka game and after Mishawaka's first drive, Penn figured out how to stop said "Bart Ball" and controlled the remainder of the game. I really like Warsaw in this game, but playing at Penn...Warsaw is a great place to watch a game and their fans always show up...but they don't travel as well as some of the other NLC teams. With that said...I'm going to say Warsaw gets the offense rolling early and wins a close game. Warsaw 21 Penn 17 Mishawaka at Concord: I don't see Concord staying in this game too long. I feel like Mishawaka will roll past Concord setting up a battle in the regionals. Mishawaka 35 Concord 7 NorthWood at Northridge: This has turned into quite the rivalry....The game during the season....NorthWood didnt even try to run the ball. They seem to have shifted toward a more balanced offense and are running it better than I would have ever guessed. The 1st meeting, NR didn't have their RB 1 and still ran all over NW's defense. NW has shown they are wiling to modify their "base" defense and that may help. I honestly don't know what NW team will show up Friday. The weather outlook looks great, so that helps NW's passing game...but it is at NR. I'm going to be a homer and take NW in a close game. NW 31 NR 24

Leo all they way. I'm looking for the Lions to lock up Minnix (w/ Hurst) and force the Saints to try and grind out a win which I don't believe they can. I also don't expect to see the Lions play a cover 0 all night against Dwenger like they did against East Noble (which is how they gave up the big plays Friday night). And Carter got his chance Fri night and man did he take advantage. Kid hit the hole like a bullet every play and was had to bring down for his size, I think Leo found their RB1 for the rest of the season. I'm going to say Leo wins, 35-17 and ends their sectional drought.

Not that you asked me but I’d consider Hamilton Heights the main challenger unless or until they are not…..if I were coaching or playing for Chatard.

Culver played over there a couple of times when Whiting was 1A. Their fan support was pretty strong back then. Their facilities were cool with a turf field (rare in 1A) and you could actually see the lake and downtown Chicago from the stands. A railroad track ran by the field with trains going by every so often. Definitely a memorable place to play!

There aren’t very many times that I want to see a non-competitive, blowout type of game, but this is one that I do. Can’t stand what North Side is doing and the complete lack of discipline and respect that they have shown, both to other teams and officials. Snider is really good about not running up the score, but I hope that for one week, they forget that and pound them

Man, if people could hear the conversations that I and Nick Doty have during commercial breaks of Sheridan games. We both love Coach Wright, but we know that opportunities are being missed over the now 5 years that we have been broadcasting the games.
