  1. This is an unfortunate decision that was made for our kids and our community on Tuesday afternoon. We learned of a case that was stated to positive on Monday afternoon involving a player who played about half of the games live plays. It has been deemed on our end that any player who was on the field, (making contact with the other player or not) must quarantine for 14 days. Our health dept. weighted very heavily on this as well as out county Doctor. It was stated very early on this week that no test will allow an individual to returned. Unfortunate because a cross county team was able to do this for volleyball about 2 weeks ago by our county health dept. If the 6 foot rule were in place like in a classroom setting, we would of lost 4-5 players who were in the bubble at any point. If there was a 25 or less second contact rule instead of the 15 minutes we would be at ZERO players. Our kids have handled the situation with a ton of respect and understanding tough many are very hurt as they have grown tremendously over the year and felt we could compete to win for our schools first sectional title.

  11. I'm assuming a Chatard poster must have defended the losses with that excuse? Second or third time I've seen someone make reference to that. I don't know about those being "down years". Chatard had some pretty good players on those teams. Danville was just flat out better both years. I thought Danville was going to win the whole thing in 2017, they just happened to run into another fantastic team in Evansville Memorial. I think there's wayyyy more parity in 3A this year than in previous years. There are legitimately 8-10 teams that have a realistic shot at making it to Lucas Oil. Should be a fun couple weeks to watch!

  13. The funny thing about a football game is that it lasts for four full quarters. With that in mind, the final score is indicative of the game. I wouldn’t worry yourself about haw this Eastbrook team reacts to adversity or getting “hit in the mouth.” This team is as tough as they come.

  15. Smaller school gives more opportunity for kids that wouldn't play otherwise. Heritage Hills has around 600 students. You will have a dozen or so on a basketball team. Carmel has almost 5000 students. You still have a dozen or so on the team (I would assume). There are surely kids that would be excellent ball players that would be playing if they weren't at the mega school. I live in the country, but if I moved to a city, say Indy for example, I would be far more inclined to Westfield or Danville than Carmel or Fishers. Gives your "normal" kid the opportunity to play. I'm a small town guy, that is my bias....I dunno.

My dear friends and maybe a couple foes,(not by my choosing) We are only 5 users away from hitting out annual goal for the year to provide YOU the readers and contributors a wonderful ( I know I am biased) place to promote, discuss, INDIANA HS FOOTBALL. 5 users at 30 dollars puts us at $135 dollars and surpasses our goal. We have a TREMENDOUS community. Honesly, think about it, even if you do not agree with some of our contraian users such as @DT or @Muda69 there is not a better place to find info, discuss teams, players, communities thoughout our great state, all in one place, THE GRIDIRON DIGEST. If you have not thought about it, please consider being one of the 27 more folks who can be part of the cool kids club, the BOOSTER CLUB. (even DT and Muda are boosters, just saying, for those who constantly complain about thier rhetoric, they provide discussion points and put money towards our site. As we are entering week 9 and now the tournament, in one of the most unprecendeted years imaginable, we are still here, plugging away, week by week, communities out here safely pariticpating in this great game. Fingers crossed we all can get to that finish line, both on the field and of course off the field here with our booster drive. 3 Options: PayPal, Venmo, or Snail Mail Thanks for your consideration !!! https://gridirondigest.net/clients/donations/

  17. I don’t think Clinton Prairie would challenge the health officer’s order, but I would be interested in seeing it since this varies from county to county. Test everyone like Southwood did. If they come back negative, play. Traders Point may not agree to that though and it would put them in a difficult position. A school not far away changed their close contact policy to differ from their county health officer’s criteria (health officer said 3-6 feet is a close contact, school said only within 3 feet). The school board notified the health officer of their plan (basically to get the officer’s blessing) to have a different criteria and approved the policy.

  19. Never considered that but you are spot on. The game takes on a whole new dimension and level of importance. GS has the opportunity to position itself nicely not just this year but for the next 2 if everything else falls into place.
    1 point
  20. Yes, which means a GS win this week has a huge impact on the next 2 years too. SR would fall back into 2A for the next cycle. Ev. Memorial will be in 4A for another 2 years. Chatard will be moving up from 3A to 4A with a Regional title. The path for GS would seemingly be pretty smooth the next 2 years.

  21. I work out of Gas City and two of my bosses and a fair number of customers (most are named Roush) played at Eastbrook. They all have said the same thing repeatedly over the years... Adamson doesn't throw enough to keep good teams off balance and win big games. With Jett Engle in the fold that seems to have changed. Looking forward to Friday night, will be my first time chain ganging on an Eastbrook sideline. Ought to be a dandy of a game.

  25. Preparing for/coaching against both of them, Engle is definitely the better player. Bragg may have had a slightly better command of the O being in the system longer, but even for it only being week 2 (our week 1 due to COVID) Engle marched them down the field a few times and made plays with his arm and legs. They'll be a tough out as always with a touch more speed and throwing ability at QB to contend with.

  26. Good post. But unfortunately FWCS's main focus is "simplicity." They could open lots of doors for the kids, fans, and athletic budget if they would just open their minds to a new idea. Will it take a little more work? Sure. But the ultimate reward would be worth it.

  27. Heres some facts Trump supporters hate coastal elites but yet they support one. Trump supporters hate people who take advantage of the "system" yet they voted for one and in fact cheered him cause he done so. Say... How do you feel about Trump paying more taxes to China compared to what he did in the US? You guys hate the truth.

  28. 3.) (2A) Andrean (8-1) 2019 (10-4), 2018 (10-2), 2017 (8-4), 2016 (5-6), 2015 (7-4) MERRILLVILLE: Andrean looked good in a 35-14 shut down of the Devils from Lowell last week. The 59ers rolled up 385 total yards and QB Joe Cimino threw four TD passes. It was 28-0 Andrean at the half and Lowell went home with their first loss of the season. Okay, now teams that face Andrean in the Class 2A playoffs are going to have to be REALLY creative. If it was my team, I would ask if our side could use 12 players and maybe let our parents be referees. I think Andrean should only get three downs instead of four and 59er touchdowns should only count as five points. No? Well, then here comes the pain. Because Andrean has outscored its last eight opponents 318-72. The 59ers open at Boone Grove this Friday in the Class 2A Sectional 33 quarterfinals. Andrean beat Boone 27-0 last year. Made me giggle !!!

  29. https://www.usa-365.com/ do not mind the prediction at all: but We are heading to Wheeler not Hosting Wheeler Class 2A Sectional 33 ANDREAN (9-1) at Whiting (1-2): WHITING (10-30-2020) An unfortunate matchup. Whiting has no chance against the top-ranked team in 2A. After six Covid-19 postponements, Whiting has played just three games and they got their first win last week. I don’t think they have more than 30 players on the varsity. Andrean has dominated almost everyone the last nine weeks. There’s no need to play this game. ANDREAN 49, Whiting 0 Wheeler (7-3) at Rensselaer (6-4): RENSSELAER (10-30-2020) One of the night’s better games. Both teams run the ball well so the weather will not be a factor. Two of Rensselaer’s four losses have been to Western (8-1) but one of Wheeler’s losses was to Lowell (8-1). Both sides lost to Kankakee Valley. I don't have a deciding factor here so I’m going with the home team in a match of two distant schools. Rensselaer 35, Wheeler 28

  30. Funny how the Debbie Downers say this year in and year out yet the Panthers find a way to win. Granted they've had their share of "hit in the mouth" moments but, then again, EVERY team has that at some point. Last year's game against Tipton came down to conditioning. IMO, that's what won the game. The CIC is weak.... everybody can agree on that. However, Coach Adamson makes these kids believe they can win and they treat every game like it's a state championship..... regardless of how good or bad the opponent.

  31. So it's going to take a month of logistics to figure this out? Yet, just this year we have seen teams pick up games in a couple days notice? I am not following that logic. If ADs are serious about doing what's best for the kids, they will get this done. Jeff Becker and Duce Taylor are two of the best QBs in the State, but they don't get the statewide attention they deserve because they only play locally.

  32. Easy. Let's say when Mr. Biden is elected him and the Democrats decide to add six new seats to the SCOTUS in order to combat this supposed "conservative bias" with the existing justices. Mr. Biden then fills those new seats with more 'liberal leaning' appointments. All is well and good, right? Now what is to prevent the Republican from doing the exact same thing when their party comes back into power? And now we go from a 15-seat SCOTUS to a 21-seat SCOTUS. Wash. Rinse. Repeat. And any confidence and faith in our judicial governmental system goes right down the toilet.

  38. Your completely wrong once again Muda 69, your comments about CP is way off. This was a very young team that struggled early this year with injuries and playing young kids with no time this summer to be ready, but these kids and coaching staff worked their tales off to get rolling the past 4 weeks. The Cougar faithful said last Friday, they weren’t ready for the beating. The Gophers were looking forward to Traders Point Rematch, CP had 5 key players missing the week 3 game lost by only 3 points and a dropped TD pass in end zone by CP with 12 secs to go. The CP Team, Coaching staff, parents and fans were stunned Monday evening when the news arrived from Carroll. Everyone was hoping for the best by Tuesday morning and when Dr Tharp Clinton County Health officer said that per Indiana Dept Health guidelines that any player that participated in the game on Friday will quarantined for 14 days, the devastation set in. This effected most of the CP team. I was one of the parents that personally contacted Dr Tharp this morning to discuss this, but found out quickly that he would not budge from his decision and wouldn’t even go over any thing that could change this outcome. Believe it or not Muda the HS kids read this forum and your thoughts 99% of the time by no way represent CP or Clinton County .The boys were hoping for a Southwood type miracle, but only Dr Tharp can change this now! Just so everyone is clear, your school address will dictate the rules you must play by and each county around the state is doing different things. The CP admin will always do the right thing and not cheat the system and do what’s asked by them from State and Local guidelines. Lastly it just sucks when you have 30 kids without even a sniffle. Good luck to all the teams, Covid is your biggest opponent to the oil can.

  39. That's funny. I remember last season one of the Lewellen twins decided not to cut up field where he would have just out ran everyone.. instead ran right at a defender and just trucked him over and still went for 40+ yard td. Neither one of them are afraid of contact.

  40. The "case study" for this is Wisconsin and Illinois. Badger QB tested positive over the weekend after he played in their opening game Friday vs. Illinois. His backup (teammate) has also tested positive since then. So far, no Illini players have. My guess is that there will be zero connected positives to him on Illinois, but a few more teammates on Wisconsin will. This would confirm my suspicion all along that your teammates in the locker room are more likely to transmit the virus to you than an opponent in the act of playing the game. Which is exactly the same way the flu spreads during the season.

  41. Would we even be having this conversation if Trubiski weren’t a bust and Foles a barely serviceable backup? I know a GM that better start getting his resume together if the season starts to spiral. Strange to say that when they’re 5-2, I know. But I can just see it happening, if they can’t run the ball and they can’t protect.

  48. I’ve watched this program for the last 15-20 years. I will not comment on the previous coaching staff. Or maybe I just did. That said... new staff has been watching / pointing to this senior class since the coaching change in 2016. They’re a special group of young men. Program pivoted around them. Talent pool is solid for 3A 11-7th.
