Word on the street there was much more to than golf. But I will concede that was the version released and in an effort to be fact based will agree to one player. Current class of 21s lost one game prior to varsity their JV season, undefeated I believe Freshmen and at Castle North. Current 22s undefeated both Freshmen and JV. Similar tune for several years leading up to the Varsity records. The FB program(s) don’t underperform until a certain arena.2 points

Yes and I'd predict another sectional championship this year, no offense to TC or Linton. Coach Goebel knows how to play with the cards he's dealt by Week 10 knows when to play them. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see Tell City win a sectional. It would do wonders for the community, but if being the favorite for a sectional title means "gone south" then you're right.2 points

South Adams has a lot of talent that could start at any school in the area, but there’s not near as much death. In head to head, SA is probably around 8. I think they could hang with most of the NE8, Columbia City is comparable. But pound for pound, definitely vying for that top spot.2 points

If MD has gone south, then there are a lot of other local teams that probably wish they had a seat on that bus.2 points

I would not want to be Jasper this week. It was pretty obvious Coach Goebel peeled some paint at halftime Friday night as they came out looking like a different team. A late redzone fumble killed the comeback. I'm guessing this will not be a fun week on Harmony Way and MD will be ready to run through a wall Friday night. I think MD just might win the Wildcat fight. An MD upset and a tough 3 week stretch on the road could have Jasper at 4-4 going into Wk. 9. Call me crazy but I kinda like Lincoln this week. It's kind of an SIAC gut-check time for them. Castle played really well in Wk. 1, then didn't look all that good MD in a Wk. 2 kicker battle, and have had a screwy 2 weeks since then. Central will beat Reitz with a running clock. Reitz is the only team I haven't seen on film, so I'm just not sure what to make of them yet. Memorial should get the win against Harrison, but it will be a closer game than what some might think. North will beat Bosse with a running clock.2 points

Cathedral fans are being silent before this one. I have no doubt they have the utmost respect for St. X, but perhaps there's a gag order in place... Shame. There will be five pages of comments after the game. I hear they're calling @Bobref out of retirement to do this one.1 point

This is just my opinion but these youth kids (many of us for that matter) did nothing for months because of Covid. You know how hard it is to start working out again after taking some time off, many of these kids don't want to start doing things (athletic things) again. Many of the parents probably enjoyed the time with their family during the downtime created by Covid, so when "little Johnny" wants to stay home instead of go to football practice many of these parents accept it as ok. I know many youth programs (middle school on down) here in SW Indiana have lower numbers for football than in years past. The gradual decline, at some schools, in participation over the last few years has been accelerated this year due to Covid. Hopefully it bounces back!1 point

Not so fast my friend. MD plays one of the tougher schedules in all of 2A every year. They play ZERO 1A or 2A teams. Their schedule is all 3, 4, and 5A teams and several of them are top programs. Even if it's a rebuilding year, I would never count them out especially in the tournament. Don't look at their record and assume they went "south".1 point

Warren the last 6 years: David Bell (2019)-Purdue Justin Britt (2019)- Iowa Julius Brents (2018)- IOWA Mykelti Williams (2016)- Notre Dame Warren also had one of the best teams in IN HS history in 2018, that went 14-0 and was ranked #3 in the nation at the end of the season, with several players committing to FCS Schools.1 point

BD in the last 6 years: Daylan Carnell (SR)-Committed to Mizzou Keylen Davis (JR)-Multiple Big10 and SEC Offers Delbert Mimms (2019)- NC State Dawand Jones (2019)-Ohio State Broc Thompson (2018)- Marshall Elijah Ball (2018)- Purdue Jonny Adams (2018)--Cal Reese Taylor (2018)-IU LeShaun Minor (2017) IU Pompey Coleman (2017)- Mizzou Chris Evans (2016)-Michigan Stori Emerson (2016) Miami of OH Asmar Bilal (2015) ND, just got activated to the Chargers Roster If that's a downturn in talent, I think 99.5% schools in Indiana would take this.1 point

I agree with you, DT. Trojan Dad is a fantastic guy and a great poster on the site. I will miss his insight. He's a class person.1 point

This is the only thing I found for tickets for that game. Pike Central Athletics · PC vs. Washington @Washington Players will be coming home this evening with their form for purchasing tickets. We have a 200 person limit at Washington and tickets are available by pre-sale only. Any remaining tickets will be sold to the public on Friday.1 point

Most of these I agree with, but no way in heck is Warren Central trending down as far as their program goes. Always at the top each year. BD was in the semi state last season. And for you to think Pike and LN are going to surpass Warren and BD because for one season during a pandemic they have lost some early games then you must be going crazy.1 point

Well then I guess no reason to play the game. Heck might as well just end both programs now and save some money.1 point

TD and I had our share of disagreements over the years, but he recently pointed out to me that we probably have a lot more in common than our differences. I wholeheartedly agree. He will be missed. It is a shame that certain circumstances made him come to such a decision. Go Trojans!1 point

Crawford has shutdown for several weeks due to COVID. It is the whole corporation, not just the team. I think that CC was supposed to play SV that week. I would guess Jeff is still trying, but with no AD currently in the fold there, who knows what is getting done. The majority of week 6 open dates are probably too far north for it to be worth it for Jeff. The closest would be Greensburg. I could see that being an interesting one. New Albany went just a bit further north for their matchup with Eastern Hancock.1 point

If you are speaking in terms of pound for pound, there is no comparison this year. South Adams might be number one if that is the case.1 point

Not as stupid as you judging a school board that was looking out for its students and student athletes. Are you a Doctor? A Nurse? Are you from Hammond? Have a child or a relative that went to or attends hammond schools? If not then you can't judge them for their reasons cause you don't know what's best for the schools and their kids.1 point

All for it, as those were just a few of my silly ideas. Why not a rematch of the state finals a few years ago? Lowell-East Central. Maybe Andrean vs. Evv. Mater Dei or Penn taking on New Palestine, plenty of options.1 point

Most teams are not looking at a long playoff run. Elkhart needed a game after the consolidation. You may know better but I'd be surprised if Columbus North wants to come 3 hours to Merrillville on a Friday night. . In a pandemic era where conference rival Michigan City just lost two games, I dont see the point for Merrillville. Send the boys home Friday afternoon and tell 'em stay out of trouble. We'll see you Monday. I would doubt either side wants to play Saturday. I cant find a coach up here who likes to play on Saturday.1 point
-
I KNOW that...you missed the point of my bringing that up COMPLETELY. Other schools charge a much higher fee if they allow the use of it at all.1 point
-
Because there's no reason to from Merrillville's standpoint. Especially in the Covid era...Why ride 3 hours to risk an injury? DAC teams play 2 non-league games and then 7 league games......Nonconference season is over. Merrillville is looking at a long playoff run and a week 7 'Judgment Day' with 5A No. 2 Valparaiso . They've played 4 games.......take a week off and play four more.1 point

I don't believe I agree with that assessment. 2014 state runner-up, 15 lost to state champ Monrovia at regional, 16 lost to Monrovia again at regional, 17 lost to state champ Southridge in sectional, 18 lost to Southridge again, 19 lost in regional to Triton Central. They have won one State title in football, they are really good year in and year out in 2A. Don't expect this year to be any different!1 point

Castle is usually middle of the pack or have been the last several years. Nobody in siac looks at Castle as a top tier program. Probably biggest underachieving team year in and year out. Central has been near or at the top the past 4 or 5 years. North has been awful since 2012 and is due for a couple good seasons. I wouldn’t say they’ve replaced anyone based off of being 500 last year and off to a good start in a down siac conference this year. Reitz had a couple bad years lately which can be expected after dominating for years.1 point

Can't believe I missed them! John Harrell had them sorted funny when I looked at Win/Loss by sectional. Hope MG gets a good draw and sees them in the final!1 point

As we have discussed, how sad is it in 2020 these are our options. To the best of my knowledge, Trump has never been accused of doing the hokey pokey with a subordinate, much less a 19 year old intern. I'm old school, infidelity is an despicable in my opinion. I stood up in front of a bunch of friends, family, and someone's god and made a commitment, I take that very serious. However, if infidelity were the sole measuring stick for political candidates, I wouldn't be voting much, at least at the national level. Clinton got busted with a subordinate, a 19 year old intern, that's a line you simply can't cross in my opinion. He would have been shown the door in pretty much any corporate setting. Not to mention, her life was basically destroyed. Clinton got his hand smacked, finished his term, and my guess post presidential years, banging everything that moved, and making a boat load of money doing speaking engagements, and god bless him if that's what he spent his time doing, so long as they were consenting adults. The fact that Clinton spoke, although buried early before the broadcast networks picked it up, is somewhat amazing to me. Historically past presidents ride off into the sunset. The Democrats have two rock stars in the organization, Clinton and BHO, neither of them can run for president, but seemingly those are the guys that attract any kind of attention.1 point
