6A: With only 32 teams, and an overwhelming favorite in CG, it's hard to find a dark-horse contender out of the South part of the bracket. Carmel & LN are the only two teams that come to mind to challenge CG in the South. In the North, it's going to be fascinating to see what shakes out...Can Homestead come out of a brutal sectional and then beat Westfield in Regionals? Can Laf Jeff, with an awful schedule, pull a shocker against a loaded Merrillville squad and then defeat presumably Elkhart in Regionals? Loads of intrigue in 6A North for the first time in a while! 5A: Again, with only 32 teams, and overwhelming favorite in Cathedral, not much to say out of 5A South. In 5a North, Dwenger seems to be the favorite out of the North, but having to play North and Northrop for the second time may present some problems (hard to beat teams twice!) But does Valpo (only played 5 games) have a very fresh roster ready to do some damage? Zionsville plays a gauntlet of a schedule and has elite playmakers on the offensive side of the ball...They won a 6A sectional and battled with BD in Regionals last year. 4A: 4A South will be a doozy this year, with Mt. Vernon, Roncalli, Mooresville, East Central, and Evansville Central looking to represent the South at LOS. However, there's a few teams that could make a surprise run in Jasper, Evansville Memorial, and Silver Creek. I'm not familiar with Silver Creek, could they beat East Central in the first round? 4A North has favorites in Hobart and Lowell (same sectional), Leo, Northridge, and East Noble (same sectional), and Delta. Other those aforementioned teams, who can make a run to LOS out of the North? 3A: 3A North has the presumed favorite in Chatard, drawing a rematch with a successful Marian program in semi-state (undefeated and beat Penn). Can West Laf or Brebeuf stun Chatard in sectionals? 3A South looks to be just as competitive as 4A South this year....Sectional 29 has 6/8 teams with winning records with an undefeated Danville team as the favorite to come out of the sectional. Does Tri-West, Indian Creek, or Ritter play spoiler? Vincennes Lincoln is as battle-tested as any 3A school, playing in the SIAC. Lawrenceburg is sitting dangerous at 7-1 while Sectional 32 is absolutely stacked (6/8 w/a winning record and Heritage Hills who's been undermanned throughout the year). 1A and 2A: Not very familiar with these two classes at all.. Predictions: 6A: CG vs Westfield 5A: Cathedral vs Dwenger 4A: Roncalli vs Lowell 3A: Chatard vs Southridge 2A: Andrean vs Heritage Christian 1A: South Adams vs Covenant Christian My Darkhorses: 6A: Homestead, BD, and Laf. It should be reversed. LCC could be the dark horse but they’re a huge unknown and only beat Benton Centrals 28-14. SA is definitely the North favorite. I swear to God they are

Great player on both sides of the ball. He moves very well too. Had the pleasure of watching him in the EN game and he gives 100% every play. He won the majority of the battles with EN's biggest lineman (Chris Hood 6'8" 315.)

The Indy Star had an article and somewhere in it was stated that Fountain County is at the red level, meaning they have had a serious rise in Covid cases. I could see all of the schools shut it down if the trend continues. If a team has 13-15 players to suit up and the possibility that any of them were exposed, I wouldn't want to play them. You get your team exposed and you miss the tourney. I wouldn't take the chance. Of course if you're JohnnyFootball you know it all. It's just teams playing selectively. Part of a scheme to scuttle the successful season by South Vermillion and throw the WRC into chaos. Everything these days is always some grand scheme. Man, there is still a pandemic going on and the second wave is getting ready to hit, if it hasn't started already. Everybody went back to 'normal' and now there's a real chance that a large number of teams won't get to play in the tourney. I hope and pray that doesn't happen.

One team should have home field so the IHSAA can draw the most fans, Bob. That's the answer. You're not hearing me. They dont care how you and I feel. Its the IHSAA's tournament and they have no reason to change. They apparently feel that alternating arbitrary home sites is fair. They want home sites. I guess you missed the moral of my little E-true Hollywood story story. I have asked that question that you ask and I'm telling you the answer I got. . They dont agree with you and they dont care how you and I feel.

The frustrations many officials have with the tournament selection process have been well documented here. My advice to you is to take pride in your officiating. Be the best official you can be. Make your crew the best crew it can be. Control the things you can control, like meetings attendance, test scores, clinics, video review, etc. Let the other things take care of themselves.

We'll learn a lot about South Put and if they're legit this week as they face Heritage Christian. And I really hope you're wrong because I don't want to watch a P/P "1A" school in the state championship. I would much rather watch a small town team play like South Put, South Adams, Parke Heritage, Southwood, etc.

Yes. Neutrals work great in the state where I currently reside and there would probably be a revolt if they did away with them. However, every state is different, weather is different, travel times different, different sports have different levels of popularity and different levels of commitment in their fan bases. Roncalli will get a first hand look at another senior stud lineman in GID Prime Time 25 Luke Collinsworth from East Central. Luke is a 6'6 300 pound tackle who has committed to the University of Cincinnati. Keep your eyes open for Roncalli's underclass linemen. This is the biggest OL and DL that Roncalli has fielded in many years. All have shown great improvement and potential this season. Agreed, and don't get me wrong, I understand the importance of Sectional/Regional/Semi-State/State Titles & the High School sports programs (all sports), I just hate how AAU/Travel Ball/Club Ball has taken away from the High School programs all over (especially Indiana) just because of the National/Collegiate-experience/exposure...I fear that athletes will soon steer clear of High School athletics for fear of injury and lack of exposure they can get from AAU/Club/Travel Ball, which is where a lot of kids get Regional & National looks from Coaches/Schools.

I think those same kids have been Hamilton County middle school champs every year that they've had a championship. They have a solid program from elementary through middle school. It's not unusual to see Coach Gilbert at elementary practices and games, and he was always on our middle school sidelines for every home game when I coached there.

Much like last year, I'll wager my yearly donation based on how my Warsaw Tigers finish the season: $90 - NLC Champions AND Sectional Champions $60 - NLC Champions OR Sectional Champions $30 - Neither Lets go TIGERS!

My prediction is, these 2 teams are way better than everyone else. Lol

I’ll agree with you here with one caveat. These two junior classes from Cathedral and Center Grove have a history. When these junior classes were freshmen, they were both touted as one of the best ever for both schools. CG ripped through the MIC undefeated and CHS ripped through the tri-state P/P undefeated in 2018. They faced each other in a very contentious battle both with Cathedral winning 14-7 at the CG middle school field. Point being, they have angry history. As for state titles is all that matters, I’ll be immodest and absolutely agree at Cathedral. With the abundance of state title caliber programs, any accomplishments short of an IHSAA title don’t get any love on campus. Sectional, Regional, or Semi-state titles are rarely mentioned.

I absolutely agree with this idea. It's absolutely ridiculous that a team with a dominating record or that has had a great season has to go to an opponent with a lesser record or a worse season's home field for a playoff game. The best teams should have earned the right to play at home in Sectional and then have neutral sites in the Regional and Semi-State.

The “real prize” of course, is a state championship. Poll the Cathedral & CG players and coaches. Not one of them will say their top goal is to “put Indiana football on the map.” If that happens, all well and good. But that’s not where their ultimate focus is ... nor should it be.

And yet, many other states have used neutral sites in the upper levels of their playoffs, and somehow manage to draw big crowds outdoors in November. I guess Hoosiers are just different. What works other places cannot work here. We’re our own little world, I guess.

Your guarantees notwithstanding, and putting aside the whole issue of the advantage for the home team and whether that is fair or unfair, your entire case is built on the proposition that neutral site games attract fewer, not more, fans. Other than your sincerely held belief, do you have any support for that proposition? Because the prevalence of neutral site games in other states seems to suggest otherwise.

Yes it helps. I also don’t slam struggling programs and make things up. Maybe the Woofs can pick up a 3A team Friday to help prepare them for a tourney run instead of a stat stuffing blowout

In Ancient Rome, there were 4 types of poison. Poisons I, II, and III would all kill you with varying degrees of pain. However, Poison IV would just make you really itchy.

Hosting school keeps 100% of concession profits, which for bigger schools with large crowds could be substantial. IHSAA gets half of the gate, the other half goes to the host school. I believe the two schools playing also might pony up a little cash to the host, IIRC. If your schools fans are "true" fans, IMHO they will travel well.

How about places like Ball State, Butler, IU, Purdue? Depending on if those schools have games on that weekend or what their stipulations would be. I am a supporter of neutral site Regional and Semi State games. Makes it feel like a bigger deal and if the IHSAA really wants an "equal" playing ground then this is it.
