  1. He’s getting his stat books ready for basketball season, I swear to God he is!

  2. Timing in that it’s unusual for an administrator to abruptly resign 3 months into a school year. I don’t mean that it had anything whatsoever to do with their game, or any bearing on it. When I say “distraction”, I’m hoping there isn’t some kind of scandal behind this.

  4. Stupidity is what really gets us going. lol Most Judson fans know that they are the underdog and I'm sure the coaches are leaning heavy on that as motivation. I do look for it to be a pretty good game on Friday. Hopefully, AC overlooks them a bit and Judson comes out and smacks them in the mouth early.

  6. Gibson Southern is the pinnacle of high school football. For anyone to even consider the notion that they could lose is absurd. There. Is that a little better for your ego?

  9. Seymour hasn't been to the Regionals/Semi-State since before @Donnie Bakerstarted the Pork Pistols. Coach Goodman was a solid coach with the Owls. I believe it was 1991 when the Owls went to State and lost to Hobart.

  10. This will be the first time Ames Field or even Michigan City will ever host a semi-state in any sport. Elston won boys basketball in 1966 and girls cross country in 1993 and 1994 and MCHS won volleyball in 1995 but the semi-states were either away games or at neutral sites. Everybody here is very excited and all the business have all their marquees and store front windows with a message in support of the team.

  12. How in the holy name of BobRef is that a rule that favors Indy area schools?

  13. Hmm, MD prez Andy Morris resigned today after just 2 years. No comment as to why. Considering the timing and the lack of explanation, it’s likely going to arouse suspicions. Hopefully not anything that would distract the team.

  19. I was making light of the fact that Zionsville has had 13 home games in a row. I'll go back to "if I were a betting man,"........................Eagles by 14. If that were the spread, I'd take Zionsville.

  21. Coach Harpold had a fantastic team that year with Ellis at RB. I watched them live beat Cathedral 21-20 in OT (was a terrific game). The Arlington at BD was also a terrific game I watched in person. Fine was an outstanding kicker, I am not sure anyone in the stadium that night felt 100% on Fine hitting that FG from 56 yds. I am sure Coach D would have rather been kicking a 35 yarder so he wouldn;t have had as much of a pucker effect!

  22. I'm wondering about that guy named IB everyone used to talk about on GS threads. Did Ib graduate? Go back to being the farmhand on Green Acres? Inquiring minds want to know.

  23. Agree hats off to Coach Cooley and his staff. Good to see him have some success after being in a couple of less than ideal situations.

  25. Did some quick analysis and found the following data points (considering Pike and LC as MIC the entire time): In the last 25 years, a MIC team has won state 20 times (could be 21 this year if CG or BD wins); 3 of the 4 were were 1997-200) In that same time 66% of the games the MIC lost were to other MIC teams Of 59 instances where a MIC team lost to a non-MIC team, the following teams won: Avon 8 (Pike 4 times), Bloomington South 7 (Center Grove 5 times 1997-2006), Fishers 5, and Cathedral 4 (LN and LC both in 2015 and 2016) Surprising teams that knocked out MIC teams were Lafayette Jeff (2002), Noblesville (2000), Northrop (1999), and Homestead (1998)over Carmel; Columbus East (2010), Columbus North (2008), and Terre Haute North (2005) over Center Grove; and Richmond over Warren Central (1997) In the last 9 years since Pike and LC joined the MIC, a MIC team has won every year, 75% of the MIC losses were to other MIC teams In that period MIC teams lost to non-MIC teams only 14 times; 4 were Cathedral and 8 were HCC teams (Avon, Fishers, Brownsburg, Zionsville); Penn had the other 2 The MIC domination of the playoffs has existed for 20+ years but has definitely been greater the past 9 seasons.

  26. The IHSAA already pays mileage for all of the schools that travel to play regional and semi-state games. They pay $6 per mile, round trip. It wouldn’t be much of a difference (or cost much more) to pay both schools mileage to go to a neutral site instead of paying one school mileage to drive all the way to their opponent’s school. Using Mount Vernon/Memorial as an example - they should pay Mount Vernon $2304 (384 miles) to go all the way to Memorial. If they played at Bloomington South for a neutral site game, the IHSAA would pay Mount Vernon $936 (156 miles) and Memorial $1416 (236 miles). That would be an additional $48 in mileage paid by the IHSAA. At $10 per ticket, I think they could sell 5 more tickets to offset that cost. If the IHSAA was really concerned about mileage reimbursement, they would make their alignment committees do a better job aligning the sectionals and which sectionals feed into certain regionals. In boys basketball, it’s possible for a school like South Adams or Adams Central to go to North Judson for regional, meanwhile North Newton, Rensselaer, or Winamac would have to go to all the way to Lapel.

  27. In year's past, Mater Dei would have been home this week for semi state. That's not the case this year because of this rule that was added: *If regional winner has not hosted either sectional final or regional, that school will be the designated host. Not sure that makes a lot of sense. It doesn't take travel time into consideration at all. Instead they have another 4 hour bus ride up north. Scecina's travel time has been much less.

  29. The choices for location seem well thought out. Illinois, Ohio, Michigan all have teams travel. I would like to see this really looked at especially when considering he playing surface and the weather especially up north.

  30. One more time - hypothetical neutral sites for semi-state. 2 games at each site, played on Saturday, November 20th. Games at 1 and 6 (not necessarily in the order listed below), which allows time between games to present trophy, clear locker rooms, fans can tailgate or go grab a meal somewhere, and warmups for game 2. Nobody with a drive more than 2 hours. @Elkhart New Prairie/Northridge Andrean/Eastside @Warsaw Brebeuf/Marian North Judson/Adams Central @Lafayette Jeff Merrillville/Westfield Michigan City/Zionsville @Franklin Central Center Grove/Ben Davis Indy Lutheran/Tri @Bloomington South Mount Vernon/Evansville Memorial Scecina/Mater Dei @Bloomington North Cathedral/New Albany Tri-West/Gibson Southern

  31. He must be a donor..said what was discussed on here verbatim..even suggested the win% as determining factors for conference alignment..what neighboring programs would schedule the 5 teams towards the bottom of the win% list? Being a unanimous vote hurts..that one struggling program may not want the risk and/or headache of scheduling outside the sac..not to mention the gate..

  32. Great insight and data here. Not surprising that Cathedral has the most wins considering they should be a 6A program permanently. The only avenue I see to changing the current 6A landscape and challenging MIC domination is by adding all P/P schools to 6A. I truly believe Cathedral, Roncalli, Chatard, Brebef, Evansville Memorial, Dwenger, etc. could all compete in 6A and finally challenge the MIC and improve Indiana football.
