  1. OK. This thread has obviously diverged. Save the recruiting talk for another thread preferably during the offseason. Sorry Dumfries... this is why we can't have nice things.

  2. I am not sure how solid the medical causation evidence is. But I would certainly be concerned about the liability potential. I’d get an opinion from the school’s corporation counsel.

  5. F1 has really cracked down on it. In Netherlands a couple of weeks ago (Max Verstappen’s home race) they were really monitoring incoming visitors for the smoke flares. Finally they’re now just saying not till after the race. Saw a few strays during the formation lap and when Max took the lead at Monza last weekend. It wasn’t bad until after. I’m no fan, of the smoke flares or Verstappen for that matter.

  6. Observations from last weeks games: All the games worked out the way i thought they would...score wise. I was suprised how flat Northridge was on Friday. They didn't really compete with NorthWood which suprised me after the showing they had against Mishawaka. I will say that NorthWood has something they havent had in sometime...a passing attack. I dont know if many schools will have that many good DBs'to answer all of their receiver threats. With that said, the next 3 weeks will determine the conference champs as the 3 leaders all play one another. I still feel it will be a shared title. Here are my picks for the upcoming games: Concord V. Wawasee: Concord did better than i though they would against Warsaw. Good for Wawasee at finally getting that win...it was against Plymouth...but a win is a win. I think their smiles will be short lived and Concord will win this week. Concord by 21. Northridge V. Goshen: Afer watching Northridge last week...im not counting Goshen out of this game. I think Goshen has shown flashes of a good team, just not for a complete game. If Northridge plays like they did against Mishawaka, i think they win easy. If they play like they did against NorthWood...not so much. This is my NLC upset special this week. Goshen by 6. Plymouth V. Mishawaka: Not a whole lot to say here. I think Plymouth may loose this game by more than they did against Warsaw (I hope this is not the case for the kids sake). Mishawaka by 63? Warsaw V. NorthWood: This could be one of the better games in the state. NorthWood seems to have a passing attack that teams can not defend (they have so may receiving options). They also have two young men that have played and excelled at in quarterbacks and can throw the ball. Preparing to play NorthWood has to be a headache. On the other side of the ball, Warsaw hasnt missed a beat with their "Bart Ball" being led with QB2. I have said all season, NorthWoods heel is their defensive line. They have suprised me and have a bend dont break approach, with the line backers stepping up to fill holes. This matchup could go either way and is a toss up with me. I will guess that it will be a packed house at Andrews Field down in Nappanee. Ill take NorthWood by 3.

  8. Solid in basketball with D1 caliber players. 3 baseball sectionals in the last 20 years. Wrestling shares 0 athletes with football. Swimming….country club. Track has Lanesville in its sectional dude. Maybe that’s the bigger issue that FC needs to figure out. Why can’t they share athletes who can help multiple sports? Too much specialization. East has football stars on their basketball and baseball teams. Doesn’t happen at FC. Agree with @Impartial_Observer. If you’ve got beef, if you’ve got ties to the program, if you’ve got coaching experience, call the admins and let them know. Being a keyboard warrior and never revealing who are you, hiding behind the screen and blasting coaches who give countless hours to their school, rubs all of us the wrong way.

  9. The IHSAA has been very clear that these are prohibited. If it holds up play, it will cost the home team 15 yds. Even if it doesn’t the school can count on an unpleasant phone call from Indianapolis. If it happens, game officials should report it to the IHSAA.

  10. My brother texted me one night trying to find our game streamed. "I've tried 3 different credit cards and I still can't see the game." LOL. I couldn't believe it. I texted him back to immediately call all his credit cards and stop any charges.

  13. closer to the topic here Maxpreps 3A rankings I think it’s going to be interesting to see where Vincennes ends up. Closed off in the SIAC…and the only 3A team in the SIAC now I believe with bosse up to 4A as well as Memorial. Going to be quite the wildcard once we get into sectionals

  19. Actually it’s the 2 freshmen and just 1 sophomore getting minutes. 6 senior starters with the 7th out with an ACL and a 3 or 4 juniors seeing action. Another sophomore might get time now that a junior was injured on Friday.

  21. @Bobrefmight be in a better position to answer this, but it would seem like schools that put in these lights and then use a strobe or quick flashing effect, likely built-in to the effects database, would increase their liability for seizure-prone individuals, e.g. epileptics, if they aren't actively displaying a warning at their gates and possibly even announcing it at the outset of the game about the exposure.

  22. Reitz has to get out of sectional 24 before we have to worry about any regional or semi-state matchup. Lots can happen between week 5 and 10. Memorial defense Vs Reitz offense could be an intriguing matchup. MD had 16 Carrie’s for 1 yard vs Memorial and only 140 yards passing. Don’t overlook Ben Johnson’s ability to prepare a teams D for 1 and done game.

  23. I took the weekend to STFU at the request of my good pal gonzos. Very refreshing, thanks for the recommendation. We’ll keep this one simple: 2A Little Brothers will conquer the Men of Troy handily The Ponies will continue their good fortune and trample the Ramblies The Crabtrees will come off of a tough loss and make it a sad homecoming for the Panthers Seegers come out victorious in their Woof hunt.

  24. Some great matchups this week in the TRC with the big one being the Super Bowl of the TRC this year, THE BELL GAME! First time both Rochester and Tippy Valley have been undefeated going into the bell game since 2007. Also, interesting matchup between Mac and Peru. I also think the Northfield and Manchester game will be rather competitive. Who ya got this week? Maconaquah at Peru ©, 7 pm Really liked what I saw out of Peru against Valley regardless of the score. I think they are a little more battle tested than the Braves, but wouldn't shock me one bit to see Mac win either. Second best game of the week right here. Manchester at Northfield ©, 7 pm Northfield will have the best player on the field in this game in Fisher. He's gotta make plays for them. Comes down to who can control the line of scrimmage, and Northfield has been doing that for a long time. Rochester at Tippecanoe Valley ©, 7 pm Someone has to dethrone the Vikings and I think the Zebras can get it done Friday night. Arguably the best back in the conference in Demming, with a great group of halfbacks that rotate with fresh legs. Offensive line is coming together nicely and playing some great ball as of late. I think this will be similar to the Knox game. Who can stop the other on defense. Going to be very physical on Friday night. Wabash at Southwood ©, 7 pm I'll keep saying it. Southwood isn't very deep, but they have two or three of the best players in the conference. Wabash keeps improving each week. Just not getting any easy games so far in the season. Whitko at North Miami ©, 7 pm Whitko scored for the first time all year so progress is being made. First win isn't going to come this week tho. That new style of offense is working for Coach Grant and his Warriors. They get the dub Friday night.

  28. Week 4 Review: Not surprised Memorial beat MD but I thought MD would score more points. Memorial is getting healthier and should be rolling by playoff time. MD can still make a title run in 2A but they will have to figure out their identity a little more and put more drives together. Vincennes keeps on rolling. That's a team nobody really wants to play and a team that might be able to give Gibson Southern a game in that sectional. They have some impressive wins, and that close loss to Reitz seems more impressive considering how good Reitz has been. They still have a few tough opponents and I am looking forward to see how they stack up to the grind that is the SIAC schedule. Reitz is mighty impressive. They dominated a good North team in every facet at their place. I just don't think there are many, if any, teams in southern Indiana that can match up with their skills positions. The defense has proven people wrong as well and seems to be much improved. Jasper has to be feeling a bit better after starting a freshman and getting a blowout win. Having the future bright at the QB position is always a positive. They still have a few more opportunities coming up to get statement wins, but not sure if they have the right pieces to the puzzle this year. Castle has established their identify and will be tough for any team to beat with the defense they have. I think they could still lose 1 or 2 more games in the SIAC, but I think they will have a good shot in their sectional. I believe they play Reitz in a few weeks which should be a great matchup.

  29. I think I speak for the Southridge community when I say that they would love to be in the large school division. I have a ton of friends, people i work with, go to church with, from Huntingburg and ALL of them would rather play in the big school division. They would love to have Washington or Princeton swap with them.

  32. For what it’s worth….both Massey and Maxpreps also have GS/WL similarly ranked as the 6A schools mentioned. the only one that’s really messed up right now from recency is Sagarin. GS was beating Washington who is ranked as one of the worst in the state 57-6….and then the backups gave up a KR td and had a fumble that went for a TD. Final score of 57-20. Between that and an out of state game Sagarin has dropped GS by 15 points in the last 2 weeks despite the wins. Now has them ranked 9th while maxpreps and others have them at 1/2 im not saying GS absolutely beats these teams…but at the same time, outside of like 10/15 schools in the state…Nobody has any business claiming it would be a definite W. I say if these 6A schools and their fans think they are actually better, then they should call up GS and schedule the game.

  33. Several such incidents have resulted in spectators being treated by EMS for breathing difficulties, and there have been a few cases of asthmatics being hospitalized. If you’ve ever seen someone struggling with status asthmaticus, you wouldn’t be interested in joining in the fun.

  35. Dusty works with my son. The Kiels are top notch. I haven't met Drew. 3 brothers who were all D1 QB's. That's really rare and impressive. A friend of mine that coaches at Floyd Central says that the Freshman team is really good. If the MS has some good kids, then Floyd could be a team to watch in a few years.

  37. Totally agree. I showed up to this game at 5:25 to make sure I got my seat at the 50 yard line. In my opinion, it's the best rivalry and easily the best atmosphere in Indiana High School Football. Only Evansville Reitz vs. Evansville Mater Dei at the Reitz Bowl is in the same conversation. It was everything you would want in a football game. Two great teams, a huge rivalry, a game decided in overtime, and a crowd as loud as can be. If you're a diehard fan of Indiana High School Football, you have to attend at least one of these games in your lifetime.

  38. You’re right. Let’s add Providence back to the schedule so we can beat our chests about beating a 2A program. That’s FC in a nutshell. You play top tier competition to prepare to win it all. Male wasn’t added by a football coach, neither was Elder. ST. X was added to replace Madison and Providence. Smaller schools won’t play FC in the area, most don’t have room in their schedules. Basketball school has won 3 sectionals since mid 90s and had how many big name applicants this spring? Coach Sturgeon is one of my best friends, love the guy. FC is a country club sport school. When I was there with Glesing, it was “he doesn’t throw it enough to win.” Now Bragg can’t coach. I can tell you the number of coaches from big name programs who applied when Glesing left, I helped vet the applicants. Same number as right arms my dad has. He’s an amputee. Not one from an Indy school or Louisville school. How’d the staff meeting go today? I know they we’re meeting around 6 and was hoping you could provide details. Wanted to make sure they didn’t line up in Cover 2 again at the end as you said they did.

  42. I think Indiana has it right. Only tweak I would really like to see is possibly two different thresholds for invoking the running clock. 1st Half 35 point differential. 2nd Half 28 point differential I think we can all agree that some games need it in the first half.

  43. Actually 70-0 at half Richmond is really bad. Jeff has been great at exploiting bad defenses since Shanley got there. Also, Jeff was up 63-0 or 70-0 at half against Richmond last year too. That game ended 70-0. So in the last 2 years, Jeff has beaten Richmond by a combined score of 150-0. 2 seasons ago, Jeff won 77-6. So the last 3 years Jeff has won by a combined score 227-6.
