  1. very nice, but let's get on the field in a college game first, lol

  2. Let's be honest here.. There are only 3 maybe 4 people on this entire 6 page thread who actually know the kid and have ever talked to/coached him. Those that have, know that he and his family were going to make a decision that they thought was best for him both athletically and academically. Also, those that know him know that he will work his tail off to earn a spot (in whatever capacity they need him) and get a degree.

  3. Last off-season myself and a few others on this board (and my gf) went sectional by sectional throughout the state and found who has turf/doesn't. I might have maybe a few wrong, but this list is pretty accurate. If you know of a school that is getting turf for 2020 or is voting on it soon, or has it in the works for 2021 please let me know. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 Crown Point Chesterton Carroll Carmel Avon BD LC Center Grove 32 Total Lake Central Penn Homestead Westfield Brownsburg Tech WC CN 31 Turf Merrillville Portage Noblesville HSE Pike Perry Meridian LN CE 1 Not Turf Laf Jeff Valpo Warsaw Fishers Zionsville Southport North Central Franklin Cent 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 LaPorte Concord FW BD Anderson Decatur Cent Franklin Bloom South BNL 34 Michigan City Elk Central FW Snider Laf Harrison Plainfield New Pal Bloom North FC 24 Mishawaka Elk Memorial FW Northrop Kokomo TH North Seymour Castle NA 8 Munster Goshen FW NS McCutheon TH South Whiteland Ev North Jeff (2020) 2 No home field SB Adams Cathedral 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 East Chicago Culver Angola Delta Connersville Beech Grove East Central Boonville 62 Gary WS Kankakee Valley Columbia City FW SS Greenfield Central Frankfort Greenwood Jasper 34 Griffith Logansport DeKalb FW Wayne Mt. 5. Meanwhile, take a player like a Josiah Sears - who I've also watched from high school through college and beyond. Recruited as a fullback, doesn't have a lot of offers, takes a PWO at IU, starts as a senior, scores a TD in a bowl game for IU's best team in a decade, meets his wife, has a beautiful family, has spent years as a successful coach in D3 and now at IMG Academy. Would he have been "better off" at Central Michigan or Miami? I'm not sure, but things really worked out for him. Too many people want to treat athletes and football programs as pieces on a chess board they can move for the benefit of their entertainment (or their need to be "right" on their hot takes), but these all people and communities with unique needs, unique perspectives and unique desires. I firmly believe Charlie will work hard, find a spot and be successful at IU. He may not have the "measurables," but he's one of the most driven, hard-working football players I've ever seen, and he's very difficult to tackle in the open field. I'm excited for all of the NP seniors headed off to college and seeing them perform at the next level.

  6. School enrollments for the 2019-20 school year have been posted by the DOE. This year is NOT a “count year” for realignment, but these numbers may give some indication of enrollment trends and possible movement for the next alignment cycle. This year (19-20) is the first of a 2 year cycle, with the next realignment beginning with the 21-22 school year. Next year’s enrollment numbers (20-21) will be used to set the next realignment, not the numbers listed below. I included only schools that play football. A couple notes to make: Elkhart Central and Memorial will consolidate next year. If you look at the consolidations in Anderson, Muncie, and Parke County in the last decade, the consolidated schools have retained between 89%-93% of the combined enrollment of the 2 consolidating schools the year prior to merging. Using the middle of that range, 91% of the combined enrollment of Central and Memorial would put them around 2880 students. I think there will be some growth at Jimtown, Elkhart Christian (no FB) and possibly Northridge next year when the Elkhart schools merge. There are 4 IHSAA member schools (2 that have football) that do not share enrollment data with the DOE - Culver Academies, Park Tudor, University, and FW Canterbury. I left their enrollments as they were for last year. That isn’t accurate, but it “holds their spot” in the enrollment data. I included Dugger Union even though they are not tournament eligible to see where they would align when they become tournament eligible. I did include Hammond Noll, but did not include Wood Memorial or Trinity Lutheran. 1 Carmel 5400 2 Ben Davis 4554 3 North Central (Indpls.) 3747 4 Warren Central 3677 5 Fishers 3632 6 Hamilton Southeastern 3380 7 Pike 3364 8 Penn 3323 9 Lake Central 3256 10 Avon 3097 11 Noblesville 3026 12 Franklin Central 2936 13 Crown Point 2849 14 Brownsburg 2801 15 Lawrence North 2626 16 Center Grove 2604 17 Homestead 2480 18 Carroll (F.W.) 2442 19 Westfield 2419 20 Perry Meridian 2380 21 Portage 2372 22 Southport 2293 23 Lawrence Central 2290 24 Indianapolis Arsenal Tech 2129 25 Zionsville 2089 26 F.W. 11. Charlie is a good "get" for IU. Believe me, he will find the field quickly and maybe gain scholarship after first/second year. Probably get redshirt, but you never know. Guys with that type of drive and background usually succeed.

  12. Maybe a kid's family doesn't make a lot of money, and the Ivy League is a really good option. Or maybe money isn't a concern, so they have an opportunity to try to walk on at a place you want to go and think you can play. Or again, money isn't a concern and you wanna pay sticker price for an Ivy League education. Or maybe being close to home is important. There is a lot more that factors into these decisions than stars or rankings. Ever think of any of those?

  13. What absolutely jumps out (and blows me away) from those numbers is that the 4A Champ only has 48 more students than the 2A Champ. Amazing. Honestly, just can’t give Memorial enough credit.

  17. I doubt that its the HC flat out saying this to players, but in the instance of Purdue. If you are those 2 who entered the portal, you see Rondale, You See David Bell, Milton Wright, Amad Anderson are all Freshman or Sophomores, you are not getting reps, your position coach has you in a pecking order, you have 2 choices, stay and compete, however you see that Purdue is bringing in another 4 star WR Dog, another elite speed slot guy, another 6'2 WR Sullivan and you ask yourself, will I have get to play here or is there better opportunities for me to play. That is what is going on. Same with these elite schools, Bama, Clemson, OSU, etc. You see 4 and 5 star guys leaving all the time because they are not getting reps, and the next batch of OMG 5 star dudes are coming and so they feel they need to get a new situation to get on the field and get that tape to for their ultimate goal, Sundays.

  32. I'm not going to lie, for the 3-4 weeks or so, I'll have either Andy Griffith, South Park, or The Office reruns on the TV while I'm fixing supper, cleaning up after, doing laundry, whatever needs to be done around the house, when I finally sit down, it's either Netflix or Prime. I've watched several movies, reruns of Longmire, season 2 of Jack Ryan, the final season of Man in the High Castle, etc. Far more entertaining, and to be honest, I've watched a couple of really bad movies. The impeachment thing is pretty predictable.

  33. I have mixed emotions on the whole thing because I enjoyed Holt's passion. However, I often found myself frustrated by what you are saying seemed to be Coach Brohm's issues. Far too often, they gave up big plays by alignment. It seemed like such a simple thing to fix, but it rarely was.

  35. I would love to see Purdue field a FAST aggressive defense based on getting turnovers and giving the offense as many chances as possible to score, similar to what the Colts had in the 2000s with Manning and Co on offense. Freeney and Mathis were absolute turnover causing machines back then. I think that with more aggressive play calling Big George will put up BIG sack numbers in the future.

  36. When Brohm took over, Purdue's fanbase had low expectations and was expecting 6-6 and a bowl bid in year 3 or 4. Brohm and Co took a bunch of transfers and achieved "play 13" in years 1 and 2. Due to that early success, coupled with Brohm's reputation as an offensive genius, he became a hot target for other programs as a candidate. This left AD Bobinski in a tough spot. Should he risk letting Brohm go or show that he backs the football program, unlike previous AD and well known cheapskate Morgan Burke, and pony up a big contract? Brohm got paid. Unfortunately, this led a lot of casual fans, the ones who dont closely follow recruiting and etc, to think that Purdue was going to have a big 8-10 win season and follow a trajectory from 6-6. Even with all of the injuries last season, a total that actually led the entire nation, Brohm was probably looking at another 6-6 type of season. Most of the depth on this team was composed of true and redshirt freshman, due to years of poor recruiting left behind by the Hazell regime. That depth was then forced to start, exposing a bunch of freshman. This also gave a lot of the freshmen valuable playing time. Honestly, next year looks like it's going to be another 6-6 type of season barring this team resembling a MASH unit once again. I'm okay with that, though, after dealing with the Danny Hope years of 6-6 mediocrity, followed by Hazell winning less than a dozen games in 4 years. There is upside, as Rondale Moore and DT Lorenzo Neal Jr. will return from injury and the offensive line should show improvement. This gives Purdue's starting QB, whomever that is, two 1000 yard receivers to target, plus the defense returns their best player. I look forward to 2021 as the year that Purdue takes a giant step, as Purdue currently has only 19 upperclassmen on the entire roster. This includes 11 seniors and 8 juniors.

  37. They’ve had far more D1 and lower level college talent the past 5 or so years than Buzea ever had. Bigger kids too. Portage has always had a Hispanic population. Not sure that’s an issue. That population pumped out some darn good football players over the years.

  38. Who cares where you practice as long as its close to the school! Give me the Strength and Conditioning coach......think about the amount of time and stress that takes of an HC. Give me a weight room that's functional and can accommodate large numbers of kids so you don't need to live at school all summer to run multiple sessions. Give me enough paid coaching positions to fill out a staff properly Give me a school system that is committed to hiring teachers that coach Give me a coaches office that has room to move, is functionally set up to run a meeting, etc. Give me a community that understands what has to be asked of student athletes in order for a meaningful experience and success to have a chance to occur. The school that has more of these things is the more attractive job. People think its all about the how new and shiny things are....... Practicality, Functionality, Sustainability is where its at. Remember, Its not the climb to the top that wears you down, its the rock in your shoe!

  41. Coach Holt has been relieved of his duties of Defensive Cordinators Around the Purdue water cooler, lots of issues with landing recruits and Coach Brohm and him disconnect on how he wants his defense ran, Coach Brohm wants more aggressive style all over the field, but that was the case a many key moments this year, ESPECIALLY on 3rd down.
