  1. Barring a last minute cancellation between now and Friday night, it appears that as we hit the half-way point of the 2020 season (that some thought would never happen and if it ever got started, would quickly be shut down) that here are how we are doing... 228 of 320 eligible for the tournament schools will have played games in all 5 weeks of the season. That's 71% of the state. That's also counting all schools who cancelled their seasons before we even started. So its actually closer to 75% of schools who actually TRIED to play football in 2020. Considering how ridiculous some school systems are with quarantining anyone with a pulse and how that's forced some schools to cancel games, when literally nobody on the team had tested positive for anything, the fact that we have 70-75% of schools who have played the maximum allotment of games is a real positive. Add in the fact that going on 5 weeks of football being played against different schools, traveling on buses to and from games, practicing in close quarters every day for 2 months and all the other "concerns" some had for why football could not and would not dared be played in 2020, and the numbers of actual positive cases of football players BECAUSE of playing football has to be incredibly small. Microscopically small. Most of the positive cases (which aren't many from a total % standpoint) that have come to light have been through some means outside of the football field. Or much more accurately, from perfectly healthy kids being told to stay away for 7-14 days because they may have had some kind of "close" contact with someone who may or may not actually have some sort of virus.

  2. Also National numbers always have to be taken with a grain of salt because a bunch of schools don't report stats and when you get numbers from a place like Max Preps I would guess you're lucky if 50% of the teams in the country have reported stats. That said its still impressive.

  3. Enlow Stadium is ready for football, and spectators! They have done a fantastic job getting it ready to go, and finally with the money they poured into it, this time maybe it will continue to be cared for like it always should have! https://www.facebook.com/EVSC1/videos/734696927080321

  4. As a big stat nerd I would love nothing more than for all HS teams to accurately report all of their numbers every week.

  6. Hmm, looks good. But how many other states have yet to even start playing high school football, or are as far along in their season?

  7. Fixed that for you. 😀 Lord, I apologize for that.

  8. I think as a coach it's important to enter stats not only for recognition among your conference/state, but players enjoy seeing their name(as lame as that sounds). It always blows my mind why coaches can't enter them... laziness I assume.

  9. I visited that cesspool a couple times looking for good political debate only to find a mindset equal to that of a middle school argument. No thanks.

  11. I stay away from OOB as well. It’s best people don’t know your politics on a football discussion page...there is already enough to dislike about each other LOL.

  12. Lol. You’re right, Donnie. My unnamed sources tell me there’s been a formal request made to the ISHAA to exchange the SV game for Edinburgh and replace South Putnam in the sectional for Eastern Green. And if you believe that, you’ll believe that The Visor hasn’t sent film to officials prior to games this year too. All in fun, fellas. Next week we start to get some really competitive games and maybe we can leave PH cupcake schedule and SV editing studio alone.

  19. Tipton has a good team this year but is still adjusting to playing without their All-State RB/LB. Thought some kids stepped up last week. LCC has young and talented skill kids to go with their veteran QB. Should be a great game. If you can’t catch it, it will be on channel 40 as the game of the week at 10 pm.

The Knights r defending 1A champs.. but had 2 good games cancelled to start the season.. they did manage to score on WL for the 1st time in 4 yrs....having gone 132-0 over the previous 3 ... the 10 yr series stands at...... Lcc 8 Tipton 3.... the pick em seems to favor the Blue Devils.... call me a home boy... i like the Knights .....

  24. I don't believe laziness is the issue as much as resource allocation. I understand your point, but most coaching staffs have limited numbers, and doing this for the benefit of the public is not a priority when you are getting ready for the game the next Friday night.

  27. Fingers crossed that the trend continues to go up up and up more to schools playing each week and getting their games in, but reality is that any school/team is 1 positive case from taking a backseat for a bit. So it goes. Speaking solely from the perspective of the team/school I work with, I cannot be more proud the way out boys have adapted to everything both in and out of school and practice. They certainly can be commended for their approach.

  28. Saying Castle's freshman should have never lost that game last year against MD is crazy. Castle never had the lead and was down 3 scores late in the game until a late barrage brought them back within one touchdown. MD also played that entire freshman season without the now varsity sophomore quarterback as he played JV all year. MD also played Jasper's freshman last year. I don't remember the score, but I do remember it wasn't close. And as far as JV this year, MD has quite a few sophomores playing varsity as well. Not saying MD would have won with them but to make the comment that Castle was missing sophomores like MD wasn't is just wrong.

  29. Could probably argue both good and bad... it would give an opposing team a good indication of who is the hot head on the team or if a team is disciplined...

  30. Close. The point was that there is a market for NFL franchises, so their fair market value can be estimated. There is no comparable market in which Notre Dame could be bought or sold. Therefore, the concept of fair market value is inapplicable.

  35. I would love to see Elkhart and Penn to push each other to be better programs. Hope this is the push Penn needs to get back to their roots. I want NP, St. Joe, and Marian to thrive to knock them off. I want Bremen, Jimtown, and Glenn to knock the crap out of each other and push each program along. I would love the South Bend programs to build on their foundations and awake the sleeping Giants they could become. Northern Indiana (Michiana) football is not what it was 15-20 years ago.

  37. Interesting that St. X has new OC Andrew Coverdale. Is that the same guy who replaced John Lidy at Castle and left after 3 years? As I recall, the main issue was his use of 2 words no Castle person wanted to hear in the early 2000s: “passing game”....

  38. Hehe. And I get criticized for not being so active while I'm working/residing abroad... I had to give up management of the TGD poll to WC Grad (he's done a great job) and some of the Pick 'Ems. The crash didn't help, but still running our Twitter and auto-reshare feature, along with the predictor tool (working out some kinks for the server) -- still trying to do my part. Although, I've had to limit my forum moderator duties to egregious reports and those on topics I'm very familiar with (like those in SW Indiana.)

  39. My vote didn't go to waste in 2008 nor did it in 2012 and it didn't in 2016. I voted for the best candidate and someone who has beliefs similar to mine. If Joe Biden had cheated on all his wives, paid off pornstars, had multiple people from his campaign get arrested, a notable racist and xenophobe. I might have considered voting 3rd party... since biden isn't any of those. He'll be getting my vote.

  40. Another thought on this is that with the success factor Mississinewa could be bumped down to 3A to keep the classes balanced. Also with the growth that Yorktown, Danville, and Norwell have seen in population, Mississinewa could be in 3A when the next alignment takes place. On the other hand if Eastbrook could move back to 3A based on success factor and/or enrollment. Remember a few years ago Eastbrook was moved up to 3A due to enrollment. Their district has seen some growth in residents but not students yet. Last time Eastbrook and Mississinewa were both 3A they were in the same sectional. If they would both move to 3A, Oak Hill stays in 3A, and Alexandria moves into 3A, it is likely they all could be in the same sectional.

  41. I was bummed to read the PM late last night from TD. He was a fixture here before I first discovered the GID and to a a very real extent - a kindred spirit (particularly when I used to frequent the OOB) although, on rare occasion, I’d get a bug up my rear end when it came to TD’s intense “MIC love”....kind of like I do about another school further east on 56th Street. I wish him and his the absolute best....most especially his son who is an officer in the Special Forces. Over the years, there were many times when something bugged me here that I would reach out to him to discuss. Going to miss that. That said, I understand his decision and respect it.....just wish it wasn’t so. I think the GID is going to be the lesser for it, unfortunately. It certainly will be from my perspective.

  44. @TigerFan20, I'm not sure why but I agree. Jasper is a solid team, but Mater Dei might keep it close if they can score (only 3 TDs all year). In other topics, Jasper's schedule is very end-heavy with their least tough opponent after Week 5 (according to the computers), Vincennes, a long-standing rival where records go out the window. On the other side, Memorial was very top heavy. Also, Jasper and Mater Dei have so much tradition, but when's the last time they played? I know they were in the "old" SIAC, but going back to 1970 I don't see a Jasper-Mater Dei matchup. For those of us who haven't purchased @Rudy's books (haven't had time, will ask for some for Christmas this year). Where was Rex Mundi located in Evansville and what school(s) did it dissolve into and why?

  45. Dude, it’s not a difficult concept. If you’re going to post something about ridiculous mask mandates, the fallacy behind the Covid-19 statistics, the use of the pandemic by liberals to snuff out constitutional rights, or the best type of foil to use as a hat liner so the Trilateral Commission can’t steal your thoughts, just do it in the Out of Bounds Forum. That takes care of everything. When the mods lock a thread because you’ve spewed your vitriol all over it, that inconveniences everyone else who was actually enjoying a football discussion on that thread. Just stop!
    1 point
  46. The moderators on this site do not operate that way. The consistent message to you has been you are welcome to spew your political point of view all over the place ... so long as you do it on the OOB Forum. That’s what it’s for. Stop cluttering football threads with your right wing proselytizing. It’s rude to inflict that on people who just want to discuss football. Or do manners have no place in your version of conservatism? I assume by your comment about donations that you’re a freeloader. Figures.
