SAC thought it was impressive that they sent 6,5,3,2A representation to regional. Disappointing only Luers advances in 2A. Concordia was competitive but Chatard was the better team. Dwenger wins that game 7x out of 10. At which point I think the Narrative on the SAC changes to “Neutral”

So you're comparing a 1A football team to a an NFL team. You're clueless. Having seen what happens with high school teams and bye weeks constantly this season. It is a hinderance for high school players, they don't have a paycheck coming in based on their weekly performance so it is difficult to keep 14-18 years wholly focused on the season. Especially when you aren't allowed to practice for two weeks. LCC will make a lot of mid season mistakes like they have every Friday this season because they have about half the amount of reps during practice this season than SA. That can come into play in a big way. Having scouted SA last season when they lose to AC. They are the real deal and going into this season I've though they were the favorite since they returned just about everyone. Their QB, top WR, and TE are all fantastic athletes who you can tell have put in a lot of work to master their craft. LCC is not the same team they were last year. There is so much inexperience out there and the lack of practice time has hurt that youth's development throughout the season. Harrels predicts SA 52 LCC 10. I’m sure Ohio football snobs (not you Bobref!) will say it’s a 2020 thing, but the fact is their only losses were to Indiana teams..... Brownsburg and Cathedral.

If you truly think that not playing is an advantage, you don't know what you're talking about. You can have injuries in practice, so resting doesn't make a bit of a difference. Give any coach or player the option of playing a game or resting and taking a week off, and I'd bet no one would want to give up a game.

Defense will be huge for both teams, and I fear if it turns into a shootout the Panthers ground game won’t be able to keep up with Luers passing attack. Luers qb is very impressive with accuracy and ball placement and their skill guys can score from anywhere on the field.

And this week they do the exact opposite and change the South Adams at LCC game TO LCC at South Adams. I'm beginning to see a trend here.

No one will take the HCC seriously until they take down the MIC in November... No one will take the 6A schools in the SAC seriously until they take down the HCC/MIC in November... Hell, being competitive would be a step in the right direction for the SAC big boys...

I agree, a couple sloppy plays here and there (EN Special Teams and D) and EN could have easily won that game. I can't speak to the 5A and 6A game but I'm going to pick Hobart in a close one. I was hoping it would be EN to make the trip, even though I'm not sure we could have beaten Hobart, totally different EN team from last year. I was really impressed with the size and physicality of Marion's 2 backs.. Their feature back, Stamps I think his name is, is very fast and obviously great. I was more impressed with their second option guy.. don't remember name.. big, physical, tough. I think he wore down the EN defense more than anyone. And Yucca, dont fret the EN crowd too much.. they're always rowdy lol. Good luck to both teams!

I disagree with your analysis of the DAC. I think the DAC has to be considered trending up. Valpo has won 3 straight regionals, Merrillville 2 straight. Valpo overcame a lot of covid and injury adversity to get there. Merrillville took down a good Elkhart team despite throwing 3 INTs, the Pirates were cruising up 14-0 until the turnover party began. Chesterton beat Penn, admittedly in a down year, but you tell me the last time when the 3rd best team in the DAC beat Penn in the playoffs. The Trojans then took Elkhart down to the wire and nearly won that game. Coach Mason told me before the season that he thought Michigan City was “a year away”, but they still took Valpo down to the wire in the sectional and had a good win over Warsaw in the regular season. I think Coach Mason feels great about his team’s prospects for next year. LaPorte played Valpo tougher than anyone expected in the sectional and had a great win over Michigan City in the regular season. I think that program is trending up. Crown Point was hit the hardest by covid this year, but this program is only a couple years away from winning 3 straight 6A sectionals. They’ll recover. Portage hasn’t been good in over a decade and definitely wasn’t going to be good this season after the Radtke fiasco combined with covid. LC is admittedly trending in the wrong direction.

No disrespect to Pioneer. They are consistently a very solid team. Will be a good game. Just found it funny that a middle of the pack NE8 team was referred to BOTH as “the toughest team P has played” as well as “little sister to the East” in the same post. “Big brother to the East” would seem to have been a more apt description.

We ate at the Evil Czech post game last year. We probably won’t be making the trip this year but it’s almost worth it just to eat there. Great and fun place.

That’s two consecutive impressive games by Book. Dare we hope that he has finally turned the corner, and become the guy who can win a big game, rather than just play not to lose it? And that new receiver group is really beginning to jell. Now that the Skowronek kid from Ft. Wayne is healthy, he’s turned into a real big play guy.

The score prediction is John Harrell’s, not Sagarin. Sagarin has Chatard 17 points better on a neutral field.

Love to hear it! We'll take any admirers that we can. But I agree completely, a big reason I'm always thankful that my kid had an opportunity to be part of the program. I agree but they were also put into a tough position last year. They gave Chatard's offense fits for the first quarter, but I believe Chatard's defense forced three and outs (or close to it) on Marian's first 4-5 drives last year. Really difficult for a defense, even a really good one, to stop an explosive offense when they are on the field the whole game. And this year's version of Chatard is not nearly as potent as last year. For all of those reasons, I think we'll see a much closer and more entertaining game this year.

You raise some interesting points to consider. I wonder if it's more or just the same student athletes playing multiple sports? What I mean is that yes, there is no doubt Memorial and Castle compete annually for the all-sports trophies. But if you look at the rosters of the sports at Memorial you will see many of the same names. Lindauer, Combs, and Hart all are currently playing D-1 football, yet their senior years you saw them playing basketball and baseball/track. Three sport athletes. Glancing at Castle's roster from last year, I only see 2 of their 12 basketball players that also played football. Memorial had 5 football players on the roster. A quick glance at the Westside - Mater Dei shows 5 FB/BB players while Reitz's 2019 basketball roster shows only 1 football player. Maybe it's a function of school size? Maybe it's paid for expectations? Maybe it's being surrounded by similar like-minded, driven students? Interesting questions and it's probably some combination of the three. And I personally resemble Weber's "Protestant Work Ethic." LOL

Close...but at the end of the day there are more quality humans per capita at the private. How could anyone argue otherwise? How many kids are at Memorial are there just to take up space in comparison to an equally sized (per enrollment) public? I think the argument can easily be made that Castle and Memorial have a vary similar number of quality student athletes walking the halls.

Agreed. I think the TSF has worked better than I expected. Except for Cathedral almost sliding back to 4A.

All P/P’s aren’t Chatard or Cathedral, not even close. Saying Park Tudor or Bishop Noll should play up a class because Cathedral and Chatard punch above their weight is ludicrous. It’s why the success factor, and not a multiplier or auto 1 class bump, exists.

Having been a team that's seen Pioneer over and over and over again they need more than a little credit. What I'm actually interested in is seeing how things are going to spin in another thread where someone claimed that Andrean should be playing 4A by default ... especially given that they were beaten by a 2A team that was actually visiting 2A for a bit from 1A. Should be fun next year as LCC goes up to 2A and I believe that Pioneer stays up in 2A, so those two may get a chance to meet up again just in a different "neighborhood."

I heard if they had a better video guy, they'd be the favorite in 3A! 🤷‍♂️
