I don't know that is the score alone that defines "running up the score" in my mind but rather how it was done. In this case, the starting QB scored the 2 pt conversion to make it 106 - 0. WTH? Even when a team's 3rd, 4th string is in the game, not passing the ball, etc - games can still get out of hand. Only so much a coach can do but leaving your star QB in to score a meaningless 2 pt conversion seems the epitome of poor sportsmanship IMHO. Karma can be a real B*$#@!

I once lived in southeastern washington and my middle school classmates at the time would later go on to win a state title I think under 4b which the lowest group and then B group for being joint teams. 3 towns of Dayton, Waitsburg, and Prescott. Had I stayed there into HS, I would have been the 13th kid for the graduating senior class. Entire senior class both boys and girls…13 kids. without that rule and sub classification, there wouldn’t have been football…or maybe not any sports. One of my classmates actually went on to play college ball somewhere in Oregon and then got to play professionally overseas for a football team out of Prague. Crazy how 1 little thing such as allowing joint sports teams can completely change the path for someone’s life

I'd like to see Indiana 'get with the program' and allow communities to merge their FB teams, and allow schools without FB to let their students play for a nearby team.

This post has now put me in the “contributor” stage! I have so many people to thank but such little time. First off I want to thank my mom. She’s always been a big inspiration and gave me the confidence I needed to reach for the stars. Now she doesn’t know anything about the GID but I’m sure she would be proud. Next I want to thank my wife and kids for giving me next to no time for anything…especially mowing the grass (one of my favorite past times). They played a crucial role in this achievement. Lastly I want to thank all the haters out there that said I couldn’t do it and made me even more determined to post. Go MD and the SIAC! America’s team needs to bring home the sectional crown once again.

There shouldn't be a threshold that constitutes running up the score. If a team pulls their 1's after the 1st quarter and runs dives and powers with the 3rd and 4th teamers the rest of the game and wins 80-0 then so be it, that's on the other team. A team up 35-10 late in the 4th quarter, with the ball, throwing while the game is in hand to make the final score 42-10 is a lot more classless than the above mentioned scenario.

It is funny/comical how people get on here and blame refs for a loss! I am not saying a call can influence that part of the game but when there are typically 80-100 plays it doesn't change the game especially when you have 2 well coached teams that believe in their coaches. There is a reason these teams are making deep runs year in and year out!

Hey folks....this was never meant to be an argument over each other's opinions. Just sharing a personal observation...doesn't make anyone wrong or right. I am not certainly claiming I know more than anyone else on this topic. I respect Grover's insight because he knows the kid...knows his abilities, his work ethic, character, etc. Probably better than anyone recruiting him. I think recruiting by colleges at any level is not an exact science. Guessing the majority of the time, the good programs get it right. But we all know they are not anywhere close to 100%. I just think IU and Purdue missed with Steele. I respect if many of you feel differently. At the end of the day, he may be exactly where he should be in his life journey.

I agree. Turnovers and penalties definitely killed the Panthers in that game. You can’t make mistakes against a team as good as Tipton and expect to win.

I’m thinking the same as they are. Memorial is a Battle tested squad, at this level. Even if the talent is close, Memorial has been on the big stage over the years. But that said ,there is a possibility that this Northview team handles this level of play and this is why high school football is fun. And why they always play the game.

I don't know if your guess is accurate as all of the younger class run together for me, but I'll take a Semi-State/State level team every 5 years and maybe a couple of overachieving teams in between! Sure, it would be great to compete every year for a state title but let's be realistic about it. I am hearing of a couple of last names on the rise that are Patriot legends of the past... Winchell, Goldsberry, and others. We'll see how the kids all stick together and develop but it should be fun to watch. GO PATRIOTS!

Recent* history has Tipton and Eastbrookt 1-1, both winning on their home field. (* verified back to 1994) Nothing about playing at Tipton last year caused Eastbrook's uncharacteristic mistakes in the first half.

Well... this didnt age too well.... Outside of Scecina upseting HC... 2A has stayed right on script... MD owns Sec 40 n rolls on to Semi... Andrean has no oposition till their date w Luers... mayb EB will pull off a minor upset of Tipton ... despite the rankings ... Tipton is the defending champ... n at Home... this yr seems much the same as last yr w these two... so i give the edge to Tipton..... i dont think Lcc has ever played Speedway... n bein very familuar w the Coke lot ... think i check that one out... if they survive.. ... ive got em as dogs to Scecina... whic leaves somtin im not sure ive ever seen in 2A ... A Catholic football Jamboree at Semi w Andrean, Luers in the North n MD n Scecina/LCC in the South..... kinda funky.... c if this ages any better..... hmmmm

Been there a time or two for a basketball regional. I remember having time between games and we ended up at a bowling alley. I think it was the only thing to do in Tipton. If I remember correctly though the food wasn’t bad. Any Tipton folks that would like to send any good eat spots my way that’d be greatly appreciated 👍🏼😆 Now back to the game. Some questions I have…will Tipton be able to neutralize Eastbrook at the point of attack? Can Eastbrook’s secondary contain the pass game of Tipton? Will turnovers and special teams become a huge deciding factor? I think if Tipton offensively can run the ball efficiently up the middle of the defense early, that’ll open up the pass game. Defensively, I’m not sure what Tipton runs but I’d run an adjusted 5-2 that way your covered up front but also covered on the off chance of a play option pass.

In 2014 (which my friend forgot to include) and in 2019 we all knew HH and GS had comparable team strength. Perhaps that is the case this year as well, we will let the football Gods decide. HH seems to be on a 5 year cadence though. My guess is they will be really really tough in 2024.

It NOT a "call". Its' a PENALTY! As a fan, you can attach whatever moniker that you want to it, but if an infraction occurs.... It's the job of the officials to appropriately adjudicate the situation in an impartial fashion.
