  4. 100% accurate!!! Again, need to go to a relegation league concept for teams like Indiana, Vanderbilt, California, Stanford, Illinois, etc… None of these teams are ever in consideration for the playoffs and are just cannon fodder for the big boys

  6. Everything changes after this season. While some change has occurred with NIL and the transfer portal, the game changes completely with the expanded playoff and expanded conferences for next season. Competitive programs will have to find ways to pay players. Schools have to be willing to commit to that. Even now, I don’t believe admins in Bloomington have shown a willingness to do so. I agree that Hartline is a guy to consider, but I am certain he goes to any school and starts out by saying, here is what we do in Columbus to have a top tier program; if you are not willing to commit to that, I am not your guy. I would even say the same for a guy like Mike Hart, who would also be a solid prospect. Joel Klatt said it best during the game Saturday; teams in a position where IU is are basically a farm team. Kids that are not highly recruited will go there, play one season and look for opportunities elsewhere. Guys at IU not getting playing time will likely go to a non power 5 conference to get playing time. Unless IU makes a huge push to pay some solid talent, they will be stuck where they are regardless of who the head coach is.

  7. On this day in 1924, at the famed Polo Grounds in New York one of the most iconic groups in the early 20th century happened. This group lead the Irish to a 13-7 victory over a tremendous Army team. After the game famed sportswriter Grantland Rice wrote in the New York Herald-Tribune one of the most iconic articles in sports: ‘Outlined against a blue, gray October sky the Four Horsemen rode again. In dramatic lore they are known as famine, pestilence, destruction and death. These are only aliases. Their real names are: Stuhldreher, Miller, Crowley and Layden. They formed the crest of the South Bend cyclone before which another fighting Army team was swept over the precipice at the Polo Grounds this afternoon as 55,000 spectators peered down upon the bewildering panorama spread out upon the green plain below.’ The legend of the Four Horsemen was born.

  8. Here we go - - - what are you thinking about CIC teams in sectionals Bluffton vs. Alexandria - This is Alexandria's year to win sectional. Bluffton didn't impress me last week when I watched them on IHSAATV. Alexandria wins a hard fought close game! Elwood vs. Eastern - Eastern wins easily. They should play in the sectional finals. They've got a great draw. Madison Grant vs. Northfield - M.G. rebounds from last weeks loss with a final win of the season. Eastbrook vs. Frankton - Eastbrook and Frankton in a great battle, low scoring game, with Eastbrook winning. Hamilton Heights vs. Oak Hill - Hamilton Heights pulls away for a comfortable win. Blackford vs. TIpton - I'll take Blackford just for fun. The winner will get Eastern next week. Mississinewa vs. Western - Ole Miss seems to struggle in sectionals. I'll take them in game 1. It's been quiet, what are you all thinking!?

Owen Valley has had a rough season after two great seasons in 2021 and 2022, falling 3-6 on the year in the WIC-Gold. The Alices lead the series against Owen Valley, 5-2 all time. As they try to make some noise in 3A with the near return of their QB, while OV hopes to upset the Alices at home.

  18. Give Martinsville credit, they played the right game against the right team in Plainfield on a rainy night. Plainfield likes to throw vertical and could not in that weather. Another head scratcher year for Artesians with getting shellacked on their own field by Greenwood, then edging DC at home. Martinsville likes to run with Shrake, a less vertical team than in the past. Lost many multi-year starters from last season. Can check out some games here if you want: https://www.youtube.com/@MHSRewind/videos?view=2&sort=dd&live_view=503&shelf_id=0

  23. I think we have solid chance against Washington. Not expecting a win after the way this season has gone but I won't be surprised if we sneak a win. We aren't beating GS the following week anyway but it's nice to dream. I hope the final is between VL and GS. That'll be must watch football.

  25. Cascade is 5-4... but those losses have come to 8-1 Triton Central- unbeaten Indy Lutheran, 7-2 Monrivia (42-35) and last week to 8-1 South Putnam--a game they were poised to win at the end and fumbled a pitch out in the rain. Ill admit the wins aren't really big time (4-4 Beech Grove, 2-6 Edgewood, 2-5 Cloverdale, 3-5 Owen Valley and 3-5 North Putnam). South V's only lose comes to 5-3 Sullivan in DOT 38-35, with quality wins over 6-3 Seeger 37-22 and 6-3 N.Vermillion 40-35 as well as (6-3) Fountain Central. The Wildcats certainly have certainly put up the points this year (45.44/game), but the Cadets have too--(37.0/g)-- and that's considering triton central held them to 13, as did Lutheran, and 17 vs South Putnam. I think it's safe to say the Cadets S.O.S. is much higher than SV has seen... but games aren't played on paper or stats alone. Sagarin has Cascade rated 3rd (54.61) in sectional 37, behind Greencastle and Linton..and virtually neck to neck with the Tigercubs. SV, despite being 8-1 and ranked 6th of 8 as 45.62. Cascade has highest Sagarin SOS in our sectional....(36.3) South V the lowest (22.56). The game is at Cascade as well... And I think the Cadets would be the favorite. A good win by South Vermillion would open some eyes on the Wildcats.

  30. I’ve never been better. Just reminiscing about my glory days. When I was in high school (3 year starter for our varsity football team) I would get a full-on sprint going and clock the hell outta whoever had the ball. My coaches called me "Speedhawk" as a nickname cause I had such a nose for the football and for those three seasons I was considered the most feared safety in the EIAC. Senior year I led my team to the sectional semifinals only to get screwed over by the refs in the 4th but that's another conversation (DM me if you're interested in hearing about it) So, yeah. I hope yall can understand why I feel like their's such a big disconnect between myself and your typical forum poster. Please tell me I'm not the only one who feels this way lol WE WANT DOME

  39. I applaud your attempt at getting responses. When you are a player, coach, parent or fan and the end of your season is potentially determined by a random draw the extra games mean more than you seem to know. Especially to seniors, who most will never play the game again.

  40. The truth comes out…at cocktail parties and tailgates it’s fun to talk about what the Tigers “would have” done in the 3A they rightfully belong in had the evil IHSAA not unjustly pushed them to 4A. The jacket comment is actually not accurate at all. See 2012, 2013 and 2015. 3-3 in the Hart Hurley era. It was a miracle for us to have been able to compete with an effective 4A program but some how, by the grace of the Protestant God, 3 miracles occurred. Then again I suppose 1985 is more relevant than today. I’d be embarrassed if I wore blue and prayed to be back in 3A. It’s said here on GID that it’s not manly to want the P&Ps to be put in a class that accurately represents their student population. I’ll tell ya what isn’t manly….praying to be in a class were you know you don’t belong, that is the definition of soft if my view. I’ll be sure to thank God tonight for the success Memorial has gifted us.

  42. I’ll just go ahead and say it. Northern Indiana has better depth than southern Indiana when it comes to football. That’s not to say southern Indiana doesn’t have good teams but we don’t have as many of them. For whatever reason, it’s most evident at the 3A level (real or hypothetical) right now.

  43. Maybe. I’d still take EC by at least two possessions.

  44. Easy now. They’d be double digit underdogs to the top three in 6A IMO.

  45. I think you are right on the money. The winner of Rochester/LCC has a great shot to make it to semi state and will probably take on Luers. Luers is getting better and played very well against Homestead. I think the Rochester/LCC game will be a low scoring game, maybe 14-13 type of game. Luers will probably make it to state and take on Triton Central or Mater Dei.
