  1. This is so incredibly dumb

  2. The same as his dominance against 18 and 19 year olds when he was a 15 year old boy.

  3. Let's talk competitive balance. If you plot any random sample on a chart you end up with a bell curve. Who in their infinite wisdom decided 5A should have 32 teams and 1A 64 or so? Logically it doesn't make sense, so what was the real reason? The farther away from the median enrollment across all classes the larger the disparity (percentage in smaller schools) and by count in the larger. Does the IHSAA know math?

  4. Interesting: Rensselaer Central didn't have any of those issues in our game with them. in my experience, when going against Private/Catholic schools, the moment fanbase, players, coaches start talking about "best team money can buy in 2a" then they are already beat. Field conditions were the same for both teams.

  5. I would be OK with that. However what is now a 5-yard facemask goes away as a foul. The NCAA 15-yard foul is the same as the NFHS 15 yard foul. Both require grabbing with pulling and twisting. The NFHS 5-yarder is just grabbing. I wouldn't want to make that a 15-yarder in NFHS.

  6. Interesting factoid about the Semistate games in general. Of the remaining teams playing one another in the 2A, 3A, 4A or 5A Semistate games, none have played one another in at last 35 years - if ever.

  7. Completely off topic. I thought that the Irish being led onto the field by bagpipes was awesome . Pretty cool entrance

  8. This is the kind of whiny sour grapes that is very uncharacteristic of a classy program like Lewis Cass.

  9. I think elimination of any foul that is even tangentially safety-related is unlikely in the current “risk-minimization “ climate.

  10. Agreed. Or you can add "That's a Facemask!" along with "That's a Horsecollar!" to every tackle that is slightly ugly.

  11. Go back and look what they did against Warren, Carmel, and North Central. BD handed LC two scores, too. But yes, I'm sure they're just awful🙄. 37 points in the second half.

  12. Downtown Mishawaka, Prized Pig is a new BBQ joint...pick up your tailgating meat there and head back to Roc's (also right downtown) after the game. Southside of SB, where you will get off of 31 has BW's, WIngs Etc, Hacienda, and the usual Applebees/McD's/etc.

  13. Let me guess...you were convinced your hometown heroes were winning State after beating West Lafayette and Pioneer? Also, 5959 Broadway is in MERRILLVILLE, not Gary. Second, have you seen their school and facilities!?! What money do you think they have? 🤣

  14. Stinky, Stink, Stink 1.2.3 Heritage Hills has a good team! It was a good game till we lost our QB but no excuses here, I still got to drink! A few quick observations STC did see......... 1) Heritage travelled very well. Knew they would and knew their crowd would be into the game. Glad Stink Town brought in some more stands 2) Very physical & fast - would fit well in the EIAC! 3) Looking at Hills roster, looks like a major overhaul next year? 4) Stink did get to ask my buddy about those special teams. It was simply put, "ask Gibson Southern why you don't kick to them?" 5) Stink will drink the Kool-Aid and be on the Heritage train.....I just wonder if I can entertain those Danville fans as much as Stink did in 2016....I think so!

  15. "Larry" appears to be a NP student who's just posting dumb stuff on social media to rile people up (one of his posts was "everyone's trying to figure out who I am"). Every school has that person. The best thing to do is ignore them. The poster who was making false accusations appears to live in New Pal and sent his kids to Cathedral and appears to be a bit sore over the loss, and had a bit of a hostile response when that was pointed out to him by someone. Classy response by the official Cathedral account, which is a great program.

  16. So my only take away from this thread is that talent is lacking at Center Grove/Warren/Ben Davis because they don't offer a sushi menu. What a recruiting tool Carmel has secretly deployed

  18. Didn't want our semi-state match-up to be the only one without a thread on GID. I realize WW is the decided underdog in this game, just wanted to hear some folks ideas on what we would have to do to win this game. Have been following 1A all year and am well aware of Lutheran's strengths and weaknesses (none of which seemed to display in their contest with NV). WW has had a strong defense all season with the Paoli and Salem games being the only exceptions. The last two games have been our best two examples of complete games on both sides of the ball. We had a strong goal line stand at the end of the 1st half to hold North Decatur to a field goal instead of a touchdown which seemed to shift momentum in the 2nd half. Probably will require a "perfect" game on our part with some turnovers from Lutheran in order for us to advance. But then again that is why we suit up and play the game. Looking forward to this game and rooting hard for the Senators. Anyone else?

  19. Yeah, I was just browsing John Harrell’s upcoming game capsules and saw that Chatard and Mishawaka Marian had not played one another in football in at least 35 years (which is as far back as Harrell goes) and out of curiosity I scanned the other classes realizing that the same situation existed for all the 2A-5A games. Just one of those weird and interesting things that appealed to my short attention span.

  20. welll...I suppose we wouldn't be in 1A anymore if that were the case. But it's nice that someone on here besides Coach Nowlin, Foxbat, and Basement Bias is actually talking about small school football. Makes a 1A-er's heart warm 😂

  21. I’m just of the opinion, why not raise NP’s hand? Waste of everybody’s time and effort to continue playing forward. No sense in watching something you know whats going to happen. Anyone with me here? Why even continue with this ridiculous thread?

  23. There are a number of “potential “ benefits. As always, some schools take advantage, and some don’t. Speaking in general: Not as many kids have after school or weekend jobs that detract from their ability to be involved in extracurriculars. Kids can afford to go to clinics and camps in the off season. The schools can afford to pay more and better coaches, and there’s not as much coaching turnover. Don’t discount the advantages of better nutrition and more stable family situations. Ditto for facilities and equipment, which you seem to dismiss.

  26. I would say South has vastly improved since Week 2. I wouldn’t say that’s the reason they stand no chance. New Pal is just far superior in all facets of the game. No shame to South, because New Pal is superior in majority phases of the game than 99% of the teams in Indiana. Just a well oiled machine.

  27. It has nothing to do with losing, but everything to do with being competitive. Also notice that I only bring it up when a poster from Indy insults the quality of 6a football up north. And I will continue to do so at least 100 more times, so if you don't want to hear it, I suggest you put me on your ignore list. Sorry for leaving Avon out of the discussion. Maybe that is the reason for your bitterness. I will be sure to say something positive about them in the near future so that there are no hurt feelings.

  29. LOL. Keeping the nose clear was a challenge for me Friday night too... In the 4th Q, I think Mooresville should have kicked the FG to cut it to 14-10. Things were rolling for them. Of course, a TD would have been huge too. QB made a great pass on the failed 4th down try, and WR laid out but just couldn't hang onto it. Great effort all the way around. As for the questions, I'm biased, but I thought the roughing the QB was pretty obvious. The flag on the coach is going to depend on the color of your M. The break in action was probably a contributing factor. He ended up out between the hash marks and IMO the refs gave him ample chance to get himself back to the sideline and calmed down. But I can see how the other side would be angry. It was a huge call and put EM into FG range. I saw a hold too. I think refs miss holding calls all the time. I thought EM #6 and #69 were getting held a little bit too and it wasn't called, but everyone sees the game through biased eyes. IMO the big difference was EM had no turn-overs and converted 2 Mooresville turn-overs into 14 points in a span of 25 seconds. Mooresville went from driving for a TD in the red to down 14-0 and had really controlled the field. Honestly, if Mooresville and EM play 10 times, I would say Mooresville wins 7 or 8 times. Maybe 10 out of 10 anywhere but Enlow.

  34. Wow, the stars have aligned for Memorial to get to the State Final this year! First week of Sectional = bye and get healthy, 2nd week of Sectional travel 30 minutes to beat a below average Booneville team and to work out kinks of bye week. Sectional Championship travel 15 minutes to play the only team that beat them, Central and come away with 24 point victory. Hard to beat a good team twice in the same season. Regional at home vs a strong Mooresville team, win by a FG and now host a good Mount Vernon (Fortville) team for the Semi-State Championship! Sorry Mt Vernon, but playing Memorial at home ON A FRIDAY is not going to have a good outcome for the Marauders... Memorial 31 Mt Vernon - 14. Apparently none of the AD's talk to each other about playing Evansville teams on Fridays in the playoffs??? I can't believe they are playing on Friday this week???

  35. Once again, DT confuses college and pro sports with high school athletics, and once again speaks about things he knows little about. The missions of high school and college sports are different. The transfer had nothing to do with competitiveness and everything to do with his the family business moving from Muncie to the Indianapolis area, where there are more business opportunities. This was very well-documented two years ago (https://www.thestarpress.com/story/sports/high-school/2018/04/05/delta-star-running-back-charlie-spegal-transfers-new-palestine/486430002/). The IHSAA approves all transfers unless it is for athletic reasons (this wasn't) or undue influence was used (which didn't happen). It's what's in the best interest of the student. Students move all the time because their parents move without anyone batting an eye. It's not different because one student is an elite athlete.

  36. Me either - one game in particular. People never learn. I pick EM to win that one by at least 3TDs. BTW after Friday’s game at Marian, Chatard will have had 4 of 5 tournament games away (80%), spent about 11.5 hours on the road and traveled roughly 650 miles (back and forth miles/time). Crazy. Wonder how that matches up to the remaining teams.

  37. WFan, WFan, WFan 1.2.3. just some Grid FUN to start the Week! Danville, Danville, has a good team, no hard feelings, STC just thinks they go down in defeat! Next thing, you are right.....we'll watch on TV, you guys have a chance and all we can do is drink Tiger Bud Lights! So good luck to Woods Warriors, they'll do the best they can, but in the end, the Patriots will celebrate in Warrior land!

  38. I also know for a fact that Andrean was in communication with Lewis Cass throughout the week, IHSAA Commissioner Faulkens as well about the facility, field and options. IHSAA green lit the game as is. Take those conspiracies elsewhere.

  39. Until Andrean moves locations, their field will always be a tough place to play. Home field advantage is an understatement there.

  42. It was disappointing to see IU dropped from the top 25 even though they gave themselves a chance to beat PSU. Perhaps if that "Chuck Pagano fake punt" fiasco wouldn't have happened they might have pulled this one out. I think this proves a couple of things......1. IU should be very competitive against Michigan, perhaps even favored. 2. PSU will have nothing for Ohio State.

  46. I have seen over the years the P/P vs Public argument on this board. Coach Ralph brings exactly what teams like Chatard, Cathedral, and others bring to the table. It’s not a secret ingredient it’s hard work in the weight room, great conditioning, great scheme with great coaches, and goals within games they try to attain. Charlie Spegal is special and New Pal will definitely miss him. That being said with Coach Ralph and his staff at the helm New Pal will continue to work hard and have success! you broke it down best. It was a tight game. Turnovers can change the outcome of a game in a heart beat. People weee all over Roncalli during their run. To be honest they weren’t special or that much better than everyone else. What they did was not turn the ball over and force you to turn it over ( same as New Pal did tonight granted NPbhas a special player in Soegal).. No matter what my favorite New Pal player resides in @CaptainHook‘s household for obvious reasons! Lol be sure to keep messaging captain!
