  1. I watched the clip for the first time. Clearly targeting and, in my judgment, an ejection as well. ... And #64 in white should be on the bus, too.

  2. You lie to an AD telling him your crew is unavailable and leave him hanging to try to find a crew at the last minute and then go work another game. How can you have any credibility on the field after that? Some things need very harsh punishments and that is one of them. There were so many other ways the crew could have handled it. I believe the double booking was an accident and he knew about it several months in advance. Even if he forgot about it, find another crew, contact one of the schools and be honest about the mistake, anything other than lying about it. That will only get you in trouble.

  3. Yes we have. Happens too often in too many sports IMHO to be coincidental. Just like some of the sectional draws. (Queue Coach Nowlin to tell me I'm a conspiracy theorist)

  8. Uh....it was 4th and 11...down 16 points with under 2 minutes to play. He barely got the first down. If he goes out of bounds any sooner, he’s stopped short and the game is over. No lesson to be learned there. BA did right and kept his team in the ballgame. Yes he paid for it but he’s a competitor.

  9. Agree....seems as if there are two teaching moments resulting from this play.

  11. And QBs need to get out of bounds to protect themselves as well. With these new rules for protection, any defense player is extra antsy to get a shot at the QB.

  12. I am not going to get into it whether it was a cheap shot or not. I have my own opinion based on other activities #1 did that day but I will leave it there. 10 years ago, that was a great hit but whether we like it or not, the game has changed, and kids must be taught to hit low and stay away from the head or get penalized for it.

  13. Here's the clip of the "illegal hit": https://twitter.com/BradNix11/status/1172980059960987648?s=20 I don't see anything dirty about it at all. Sure he was a little high and if that warrants a flag then so be it, but I don't think it was a cheap shot or dirty. The QB was trying to tight rope the sideline and took a shot for his troubles.

  16. I find myself falling victim to the ridiculous and trying to debate it with fact against the lunacy that is posted, I am beginning to feel a lot like you do. I was from the WRC and I have seen a lot of good teams, players and coaches over the years as well. I would love to just talk football for what it is.

  17. Mark is not only a great coach but he is a great man as well. He is very respected by his players and the communities he has coached in.

  18. This could make for some good conversations. Name some of the former coaches from your school. If they are still coach we’re are they now. Also add any assistants if you want. Rockville The great Jay Barrett RIP went to W vigo Dan Vukovits went on to be an assistant I believe at TH north, North Putnam, and South Vermillion. Assistant Jim foster, not sure he coached at a varsity level after his stint with Vuk. Coaches a lot of other sports. Great guy. Assistant John Barnes the coach that most players feared but he would do anything for you if you worked hard and showed respect. One of the most knowledgeable football minds around. Know he spent some time at Turkey Run, surprised some doesn’t have him on the side lines now. Herb King of course went to Seeger. assistant John Batty, went on to be head coach at Rockville. Assistant Steve Jones spent a lot of time scouting. Very football smart. Batty left Rockville, I believe kids go to Riverton Parke district. I believe he might of coached daughter in basketball? Surprised he isn’t helping RP Assistants Neeley, Bettis, Clapp? Some of these have move on and stayed with Moore. Moore of course now. Im sure I am missing a lot of assistants and maybe a head coach. Was out of the area for 4 or 5 years? Also who remembers Saturday morning Coaches Corner? I believe they use to go to Janet’s? In Montezuma and recap all the Friday night games. Jim Jerome did an awesome job with that. Coaches would exchange game tapes there also. Most coaches would bring one or two players with them. We got our 15 mins of fame. We would all sit around the locker room eat donuts and talk about all the “great” plays we made, while we listened to the radio show. I believe they ended this around 93/94? Wish we still had something like that now. There is my blast from the past.

  19. Gimme the Bears and lets tango on Tecmo Bowl. Run 1, Run 2, Pass 1, Pass 2. That playbook was a killer!

  26. West Clark school district (Silver Creek, Henryville, Borden) are in a ugly on going fight. Referendum to build a new Silver Creek high school was roundly voted down. Silver Creek people want to separate from the other schools and be its own district.

  27. The day before game day and the HHC thread has once again turned into a conference realignment thread. No wonder the HHC is known as a BB conference. No talk of games with conference ramifications: BNL@Seymour Probably the biggest game in the conference this week. Is Seymour for real? How does BNL rebound after last week? Jeff@FC Jeff lit it up against NA, can they out athlete FC? Can FC outscore them if it comes down to a shootout? Madison@JC Arguably the 7th place game, but should be a good game with two on paper evenly matched teams. East@NA Does the bus breakdown on the way to NA? Does NA's youngsters start to become upper classmen? This conference realignment crap is soooo played. If Madison and JC were going to leave, they would have done so already.

  28. Jeff needs one, they're battling BNL for the worst fields in southern Indiana.

  29. I believe one of Troy's sons is a student at Purdue. He's from New Castle, went from Owen Valley to Greenfield-Central to be closer to home, left there after winning a conference title in his first year, but then had a couple of down years. He had a *great* run at South Putnam. IIRC, he left coaching when his son was playing at Plainfield, then got back in after he graduated. Frontier, obviously, is a lot closer to Lafayette than Evansville. Some coaches really enjoy the 1A environment. Troy is a fantastic coach and a great guy.

  30. Or those schools could stay in our conference? Since most of the schools in the HHC are double Charlestown's size. I would also assume SC isn't making any moves until they get their school district stuff figured out along with getting a new school. I would be willing to bet there is more of a chance of our conference reshuffling than those two going to your conference. I am a tad confused what either would gain by going to your conference anyway. SC already plays the entire HHC in basketball (basically)... those two already play each other in football and no one in the HHC would be bigger rivals for those two schools than each other. East in football is really the only outlier here. In basketball... the river schools compete with each other just fine and BNL is a tick behind and East has had some good wins, as well. It's a balanced conference in basketball imo. I know baseball is very balanced, as well. The other sports I'm sure are the same as @Impartial_Observer has mentioned before. Restructuring the football schedules is a good move, but again... East is the outlier.

  31. You happy just moving the ball or scoring points? Move the ball all you want in space on your end of the field, but can you get the ball across the line in the red-zone or at the goal-line? You can have all the yards you want but if you're not scoring points you're not winning games! What about being able to control clock & tempo to your advantage. Especially against teams that are bigger and deeper than you. Why not limit possessions and try shortening the game so cave-man offenses don't end up scoring 51 pts. and 55 pts. the last two seasons against the dawgs!!! What about overall team mentality/toughness that spills over from an offensive philosophy?? Your dawgs have been as soft as puppy poo (pun intended) the last few seasons. I don't recall the Dawgs playing that way under Heppner..even when they were young, short on talent, lacked size.

  33. That's true. But when Jennings County and Madison complained about having to play every HHC team in football, my response would've been to suck it up or leave. My next move would be to try and find one or two other schools to replace them to avoid non-conference scheduling difficulties. If that didn't work out then I'd be contacting Conference Indiana to work out a similar scheduling deal with them like they have with the Circle City Conference. Many HHC teams have or have had a history of playing CI teams anyway.

  34. MD would have won the years we were up in 3A (2003, 2004, and 2005). So what's your point? I would wipe the floor with Southridge and every other team in Indiana on tecmo super bowl. Just IMO.

  40. I'd hope you set the Quarter record with a 6 year high school career. Most above average athletes only get 4 years to try to achieve what you were able to do in 6... Probably came from Kentucky didn't ya?

  41. At times this forum gets so ridiculous to the point of myself losing interest in it. I will can continue to give my opinion on how PH does as a game recap and will also report scores during the game. Just gets old listening to the bickering back and forth about the Wolves being elite. As long as everyone continues to give the attention to the stupid post we will never get good football discussions going on. I have been around the WRC since 87 or 88, I have played on, played against, have help coach at times against good teams. Every school has had their “elite” team/programs at some point. It’s a cycle that all small schools go through, there were even a few years when Riverton Parke and Turkey Run had decent teams. So if we want to talk about football I’ll be here to chat. If we want to talk about the good ole days we can do that also. Like most of us I enjoy to relive our glory days. But don’t compare 2019 to 2016 or 2012 or 2009 or 1995, This 2019 new coaches, new players new teams.
