Schools shall earn the assigned point values for the final level of the tournament series they achieve as follows: (1.) Sectional Championship - One (1) point (2.) Regional Championship - Two (2) points (3.) Semi State Championship - Three (3) points (4.) State Championship - Four (4) points b. Upon the conclusion of a Two (2) year reclassification and realignment cycle, Schools in Classes below the largest enrollment Class in a specific sport achieving Six (6) points or greater due to tournament series success shall move up to the next largest enrollment classification for the next Two (2) year reclassification and realignment cycle. c. After participation in a larger enrollment classification for Two (2) years, a School achieving a Two (2) year total tournament series success point value of One (1) point or below in a specific sport shall be placed in the classification immediately below the Enrollment classification the School occupied during the previous two (2) year cycle unless the Enrollment of the School dictates the same or higher classification previously occupied in that sport. d. After participation in a larger enrollment classification for Two (2) years, a School achieving a tournament series success point value of Two (2), Three (3), Four (4) or Five (5) points in a specific sport shall remain in the same classification in that sport for the next Two (2) years. e. After participation in a larger enrollment classification for Two (2) years, a School achieving a tournament series success point value of Six (6) points or greater in a specific sport shall move up to the next largest enrollment classification for the next Two (2) year reclassification and realignment cycle if their previous classification was below the largest enrollment Class in that sport. Weird year to say the least. Biggest thing is that the OHSAA finals are the weekend before the IHSAA instead of the weekend after. For the Ohio representatives in the area: D4-Van Wert Cougars D6-Coldwater Cavaliers D7- New Bremen Cardinals As for the Indiana teams in semi state: 4A-Marion 2A-Bishop Luers 1A-South Adams Starfires Hoping we get 3x State Champs and 3x Going to State finals! If we don't, it was still a great season for all these teams and many others getting through COVID the best they could!

Back to back state championships wasn't enough to bump them up. But by gosh, that regional sure did! Contrast that to Scecina's bump up for losing in LOS back to back years. I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but geez the two year cycle is way too short.

But Westfield’s is earned. They are on fire right now. Some teams boast false bravado based on minimal accomplishments. Making the semi-state is no joke but Westfield’s body of work heading into Friday night has been much more impressive than Merrillville’s overall body of work. Now, will that matter once the game starts? Maybe not. I still like Westfield by three scores. Schedule strength matters. Plain and simple.

It was really good talking to you guys this season. I think a lot of us were pretty dissatisfied in how things went but we were fortunate to have the football season. Floyd Central is graduating 20 Seniors and a whole lot of talent. Some of the best players they’ve had in years. I can’t imagine that I won’t be seeing some growing pains next season so I’ve already prepared myself for that. I hope everyone is safe this winter and we can start attending games with more normalcy next Fall.

In principle, I agree. In reality, the logistics of holding the entire tournament at neutral sites precludes that option. And I thought “fairness” was the goal here. Teams that have made it to the Regional have a legitimate shot at contending for a state championship, so all teams from that point on should be treated as equal, as long as our tournament is all in, unseeded, and random draw. Now, if you want to really talk about actually earning home field advantage in the tournament by your regular season performance, I am completely on board with this. You don’t like “participation” trophies? Neither do I. What do you think awarding a team a home semistate game when they have done nothing more than their opponent is - that’s a “participation” trophy by any other name. And what on earth makes you think you can’t get a “big game” atmosphere at a neutral site? It happens all over the country every year ... except in Indiana. Arguably, neutral sites produce a better “big game” atmosphere because more people can attend due to the reduced travel time. This is just another example of sacrificing a way to make Indiana football better in order to preserve a “feel good” vibe for some unknown school that gets to host a regional once every 40 years. It’s thinking small, taking the tunnel vision view instead of looking out for the good of high school football in Indiana as a whole.

They have a great program and have been through the 3-A wars. Our heads are spinning. We should be playing WeBo anyway. STUPID success point rule.

Obviously I'm biased, but here's my take: From what I saw last year (was only around the last two games of Covenant's season) and this year, I would say Lutheran was at about the same level as last year. Much more pass-heavy without McFadden, but had a lot of multi-year starters back.

Sounds a lot like Webo. With what Webo graduated the last 2 years we had a lot of young kids playing and I am not sure anyone expected them to get to Semi State. Started the season 1-3 and won 8 of the next 9 (only loss was to Danville who is playing 3A Semi State). I think the Coaches have put these kids in position to win both Sectionals and Regionals. You are right, though. The players have to perform.

Saw some interesting stats this morning. Bears are last in the league in points scored and second last in yards per game and yards per play — with Foles starting at QB. Time to blow it up, starting with Pace. You swing and miss on a franchise QB you took that high, no GM can survive that. Let the new GM hire his own coach. Go from there.

To each their own, of course. But I think it’s a good thing to kick a little money their way to support televising sporting events....especially during Covid. I’m sure the IHSAA and the member schools have taken it on the chin this year. Seems like 20 bucks isn’t too much to ask to help the cause. I don’t have a team left...but I think I’d like to see Southridge tangling with Danville. That ought to be a great game and I’m a big fan of what Coach Buening has done at Southridge. And I’d also like the IHSAA to keep this up. It costs money to televise games and I doubt that advertising covers all the costs.

Better than traveling 7 hours for a 90 minute game in which YOU are the ones mercy ruled, lol.

SAC thought it was impressive that they sent 6,5,3,2A representation to regional. Disappointing only Luers advances in 2A. Concordia was competitive but Chatard was the better team. Dwenger wins that game 7x out of 10. At which point I think the Narrative on the SAC changes to “Neutral”

I like Center Grove in this game, but this has the potential to be a much closer game than most believe - J'Uan Swanson has been a breath of fresh air for the Giants. He has a quick release and has speedy receivers. If Swanson is given time to throw and can make the passes, BD will be able to put some points on the board. The biggest issue in this game is I don't see BD being able to do much in the running game, but BD can't abandon the run, otherwise the CG defense will eat them alive. - CG offense is going to be challenged against a much improved defense and, if the CG passing game can't get yardage, then I believe this has the makings of a 21-17 type of game. That said, if BD can't capitalize on CG's very few weaknesses, then this game winds up 56-21 real fast. Congrats to both teams on their Regional Championship victories!

Semi-states would be relatively easy to do this year, especially the northern semi-states. South is a little tougher but there are some decent options. I like the 2 games at 1 site format that is used for basketball. Play on Saturday afternoon at 1:30 and 5:30. Here’s what I would like to see if this was possible: @Warsaw Hobart/Marion Pioneer/Luers @Kokomo Chatard/Marian Central Catholic/South Adams @Lafayette Jeff Merrillville/Westfield Valparaiso/Zionsville @Franklin Central Center Grove/Ben Davis Roncalli/Mooresville @Martinsville Danville/Southridge Covenant Christian/West Washington @Bloomington South Cathedral/Castle Western Boone/Mater Dei Southport or Decatur Central could be options to host the 4A and 6A south semi-state. CG and BD have the best facilities to host those two games, but I went with a site that would be neutral with plenty of seating on both sides of the field.
