  1. Hard to believe Greencastle leaving their conference rivalry with Brown County.

  2. Kind of says it all about 5A doesn’t? Frankly, most years as regards “true” 5A sized schools with the exception of Snider, the 3A and 4A champs are likely better than the best 5A school. I’d add that I have STRONG doubts as to either of the Bloomington teams being an actual top contender. I expect the winner to come from the North…most likely Snider. I recognize the Bloomington South team this year might be different from the South teams I have seen over the last 5-8 years when they played Circle City Conference teams but I always thought, personally, they were a little “spongy”.

  6. All: Just want to give a shout out to the Gridiron Digest staff for all their had work and for the opportunity for us to continue to talk about high school football in Indiana! I do not work for GID. I have renewed my membership with a donation to help support the cause. Would you please consider making a donation today? There are bills to pay and the donation seems a bit down this year. Appreciate all you guys at GID! Keep up the great work! as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007

Love seeing eiac teams do well, just wish they had a schedule where every game was like, oh here we go.!! I'm not even from ec area (although close) and always keep an eye on them. Damn good program. Good luck to them again this year! Go get another title!!!

  9. Like everything else of that nature, it’ll happen only if and when the IFCA wants it.

  10. My largest concern is BEYOND the Sectional Finals. I would like to have 7 man crews from that point forward. The IHSAA in every other sport, adds additional officials for the playoffs, yet when it comes to FB. "Crickets " and opposition to the situation. Then why at the Finals, do you implement a 6th official for FG/PAT? Adding 2 officials is a great way to help younger officials stay engaged! I know of at least 6 that I'd jump at the opportunity to employ with my crew. This HAS to be taken up by the IFCA... at this point ....Meridian Street will NEVER budge!

  16. Plain and simple, Warsaw is a 6A school playing 3A and 4A teams and having their way during the regular season and then playing 6A schools in the playoffs and are one and done. If the Warsaw community is fine with that, more power to them, if not, get better by playing 6A schools more frequently. Simple solution, but won’t be done

  21. That I can agree with it. In fairness to Lovie, he was exactly given most dynamic offenses to work with from his GM's. At one point his defense was more likely to generate a TD than the offense. I question if guys like Lovie are mean for NFL HC gigs nowadays. If I'm a GM I much rather have an offensive genius as HC. It's a QB/WR friendly league and I wouldn't want to be losing talented OC's to HC gigs because I have a defensive minded HC.

  22. Week 7 picks! Harrison at Central While there will be a battle of unbeaten off of the Lloyd, I guess you can consider this as the Battle of Beatens? Both teams come into game winless and inched for their first win of the season. Harrison has seen some improvement the last couple of games and could move down field. Central finally cross 10+ points threshold last week against Jasper. But I think I’m going to pick the Warriors by 7 in this matchup. MD at Bosse This has been down year for MD, although there has been a couple of games that could have gone their way this season. Bosse on the other hand, while they are 1-5, has one of the best offensives in the SIAC with an explosive player in Wagner. It will be interesting to see if MD can slow down the Dawgs tomorrow, but I think Bosse will get its first win over Mater Dei in 30 years. Give me Bosse by 10. Castle at Jasper Castle has fallen in a slump the last 2 weeks losing to VL and letting the Reitz game slip away (Reitz went on a 31-0 scoring run after Castle led 17-7). But I wouldn’t count out the Knights at all, Jasper seems like they have figured themselves now, going on a 3 game winning streak and improving in different areas. There is going to be lots of running on Jasper’s part tomorrow, can the Knights stop them? I can see a close game, but give me Jasper by 3. VL at North VL is having their best season since joining the SIAC at 5-1, however, has lost Hunt for the rest of the regular season. But the run game still looks strong under McCrary and QB Lindsey did show glimpses in his passing game. North seems like they have slowly figured out some things too regarding their defense holding Bosse to 16 and keeping MD to 0 points. This should be an exciting matchup on US-41. I’ll take the Huskies by 9. Game of Week Memorial at Reitz The Battle of Unbeatens in the SIAC, as Memorial is 6-0 for the first time since 2019. However the Tigers did take a massive hit losing QB1 and RB1 after the MD game. However, the Tigers have battling the last 2 weeks dealing with those injuries and remained unblemished in their record. As they have one of the best defenses in the conference/4A. But their biggest opponent looms tomorrow against the defending SIAC and undefeated Reitz Panthers. Who has the #2 offense and #1 defense in the Conference and one of the best in 4A. As Panthers are looking to redeem themselves after last years lost to Boonville and trying to run it back with the SIAC Title + more. If both teams were healthy, this could been an intriguing matchup, but it can still be with both defenses and a little bit of luck. I picked Memorial last year and they lost, as Reitz took that matchup 27-18. Reverse psychology maybe? But, I think the Panthers will take this one by 17 (24-7 final score).

  23. Homestead got wasted by Snider for years and Carroll was just never good enough to even play Snider the amount of times Homestead did. Insert both teams into the SAC in 2015. People now see Homestead and Carroll as Snider's equals. It's easier to become a better team when you know what the benchmark is during the regular season versus your last game of the season. Better competition for Warsaw will result in a better program.

  25. My opinion is that the top team in 5A isn’t legitimately a top 5 team in 5A. They’re just the only one that’s undefeated.

  30. The HHC currently sits at 8 teams, add Frankfort or Tipton and BC, and split into an East/West Division. East - Eastern, Sheridan, Tri-Central, Taylor, Tipton West - BC, Clinton Prairie, Carroll, Delphi, Clinton Central If Frankfort is in instead of Tipton, add them to the West and move Clinton Central to East. Getter done!

  32. Not sure it will be that close but Avon is improving. Early in the season they looked like they had a new coach with a new system (and of course they did). But, the last few weeks they have looked much better and much more at ease in executing the game plan. Avon is going to get someone (maybe 2) before the season ends.

  33. It could be the fact that they aren't dealing with a massive amount of injuries like they were the last 2 seasons. Impartial Observer isn't skeptical of anything. He doesn't like Floyd Central. I don't hold it against him. But it's my conclusion. Lol.

  37. I think it just comes back to what they’ve done so far this decade and how they’ve lost games a lot of people thought they’d win. I remember you and a lot of people saying they’d be sectional champs in 2020 only to get upset by Jeffersonville in the championship game. That shocked a lot of people, especially considering Floyd Central had beaten them by 35 and by 28 earlier in the year. In 2021, after East’s HHC win streak had ended at the hands of Seymour and the home winning streak ended two weeks later against New Albany, you and a lot of people predicted Floyd Central would be the next team to avenge nearly two decades of defeats. Instead, East won by 14. This was three weeks after Floyd Central had surprisingly lost to a Silver Creek team that had lost a lot of experience from the prior year’s 9-1 team. Then, last year, you and a lot of folks had Floyd Central winning the HHC. Instead, they opened HHC play with a loss to Seymour. Two weeks later, Floyd Central beat an East team that had beaten Seymour. Now the Highlanders were in position to clinch at least a share of an HHC title. Instead, they dropped their next two against teams they were favored to beat. BNL knocked them off and then Jennings County pulled a major upset and beat them. So that’s why folks like me and @Impartial_Observer are a little hesitant with your Highlanders. It’s nothing personal. Just feels like we’ve been let down by expectations. Personally, I think this year’s team is different but we will find out on Friday night and beyond.

  39. Boring week in the EIAC. 🥱 Stinktown rolls the FBTL's in the battle of Tigers vs Lions. I'm sure the Tiggers have a statement to make this week, and they outmatch steweytown in every facet of the game. No chart topping hits this week, FBTL will be begging for the fat lady to take the microphone and end it. The Bad Boyz do what they do against Sparty and continue to get lots of reps for those youngsters. No scores will be ran up, but it will be all business from start to finish. Two more weeks to prepare for games that matter. Pups do whatever they want against Little Ralphie and his diminished band of Pirates. There's very little hope for Hondatown to get better in terms of their record, at this point it's more about holding it all together. Great week for Casketnation get better and hopefully put the "Z" back into what started as the pupZ. But my gut tells me it will be all about the Hunchback connecting deep downfield with big 20 to throw up lots of points. I think the Mardi Gras Invaders will get right this week and put up a big win against Jojo's. Look for Homie to have his boy slingin dimes on Friday against a subpar secondary. This is the last home game of the year for KFI, so look for a HUGE pregame show. Bourbon, Tacos, and Mardi Gras beads for everyone! I hear Coach Boom may even arrive in a new golf cart with 20" wheels and chrome balls hanging from the rear bumper.

  40. I think its knowing that a lot of the pieces for success are there, I look at a school like Covenant Christian down in Indy and what they were able to do as they built a program from the ground up, may not be the exact results as pulling from a West Indy/Suburbs talent pool, but with vouchers expanding making the school more accessible, it could only take 1 special class to come in over a few years to set up a long postseason run

  41. You have just irritated me even more. If Sagarin already has the algorithm, there is no reason IHSAA can't minimize the distance for football pairings. So things like Princeton and GS being in separate semi states or Brownstown possibly facing Indianapolis Scecina in sectional wouldn't happen.

  42. Been keeping tabs on this from afar ....and trying to keep in mind that there are always 2 sides to every story - BUT - shouldn't the HC from Greencastle at least have to address how the score got so out of hand?? I find it hard to justify throwing that many TD passes in such a one sided contest? The score can get out of hand and you can still handle it with class ...ie Coach McDaniel of the Dolphins kneeling on it instead of trying to set an NFL record....

  44. As an EC grad from the late 90s, they have done a lot to improve the strength of schedule. Back then we used to just play the EIAC teams, Harrison (Ohio) then another random team or two. Being based in far SE Indiana, we were always the biggest school in the area so I don't think we got as much recognition because we were beating smaller schools and not playing teams from Indy unless it was in semi-state. Over the years they have been trying to add more Ohio teams or some Indy teams like Geurin, Roncalli and Chatard. I think that has helped finally put the program on the radar for people throughout the state. I think they will continue to roll teams this year and win state again. I'm curious to see how things will look going forward though. I live in Indy now but have relatives on the team/coaching staff. I had been told a while back that this senior class was probably the best class the school has ever had. I also heard that they will be losing several coaches next year at various levels that have been with the program for a while but will be moving on. I'm sure they will continue to dominate the EIAC but they might be down for a couple of years (by EC standards).

  45. Could be some nice battles between BD and East Noble in the coming years as East Noble has some REALLY good talent coming up too. Sectional 19 could become the premiere sectional in the north in a few years.
