  1. He is moving forward slightly before the snap and not set for one second so you could go with illegal motion or illegal shift. Most of the discussion I've seen about this play is unsportsmanlike conduct for making a mockery of the game. But what an amazingly athletic move by the big guy...both the cartwheels and the splits. Coaches...please don't do this. You force us to come up with something and you definitely won't like it.

  2. I love the all in format and the blind draw. It has adversely effected the team I root for and I don’t care.

  3. One name I am surprised to see that hasn't shown up is Rick Mirer from Goshen. He played for the Redskins before my time, but my dad coached against him and said there was little they could scheme up defensively that would slow him down. His senior season (1988) he threw for 3,900+ yards and 30 TDs. Definitely a name I always heard stories about while growing up in the NLC.

  7. Lol. No HHC team has an O-line like Whiteland. If FC couldn’t run on East, injuries or not, then Seymour won’t either.

  8. Best of luck coach, lets keep them just rumors.

  9. Not meant to be argumentative. Eventually, when I chronicle more of IN HS football on Wikipedia (if @Rudy doesn't beat it to me first), having that knowledge and some of those old email chains are invaluable. Having worked in newsrooms, so much data is lost when writers retire. The Bloomington H-T, which had some of the best preps coverage due to the team that included Harrell had all kinds of box scores from the 1970s in all sports and team records for all the local schools going back to the early 1900s just sitting in a file organizer... In another life, I would tour every small newspaper and AD office and digitize it all. TA had started doing around the state podcasts, but monetizing it was difficult at the time. Perhaps now it's easier. @Rudy's books make great Christmas presents... http://almanacsports.com/football/

  10. Great match-ups again. Snider vs Penn Westfield vs Warsaw Carroll vs Merrillville More exciting than seeing the same match-ups over and over again.

  12. Wait, wait, wait... is it a Mexican restaurant that is also a pancake house? Like I can get a taco and a pancake at the same time? If that’s the case, I might need to just go ahead and move to Culver because where has that been all my life. 😂

  13. I wouldn't mind seeding sectionals only because it could possibly set up a very good Sectional Championship. I will give my BEST example of why I 100% love the All In Format. Mooresville in 2017 Coach Gillin's first year there. They were coming off a 2-9 season in 2016, and were 1-9 headed into the tournament. They hit the sectional and beat Connersville, but then upset New Castle at New Castle (whom was having a relatively good season in 2017). They ended up losing the Sectional Champ to Greenwood. However I think grabbing those 2 Sectional wins that year was a spring board to what you see now. Last year 8-1 in regular season, sectional Championship, close loss to Marion in Regionals. This year sitting at 5-2 with a 24-21 loss to Decatur Central, and 17-13 loss to Whiteland. Coach Gillin is a great coach and has them rolling, but I feel that 2017 season gave them a push. If there was a qualify format you likely don't see that confidence being built. Just my 2 cents to agree with Captain!

  14. Don’t go counting those chickens friend. There are some pretty good teams left in the north, that definitely could spoil your bold prediction.

  15. Been a busy week! Better late than never for those who care! Just two weeks remain of regular season play for the Big 8 Conference. Friday, Oct. 11 Boonville at South Spencer, 7 pm Jasper at Washington ©, 6:30 pm Mount Carmel (Ill.) at Vincennes, 7 pm Princeton at Mount Vernon ©, 7 pm Lincoln facing Mt. Carmel for the final time (as a non-conference opponent) is the only competitive matchup this week. The Aces are having a fantastic season coming to Inman at 6-0, but their toughest test was a home win vs Mt Vernon 30-24. The Alices of course suffered their worst defeat of the season to MV, but have been much improved in the 3 weeks since. It’s a toss-up so I’m taking the home team. Boonville ends their regular season with a rout. (No replacement for Mt Carmel) Jasper rolls Mount Vernon wins big, setting the stage for a Week 9 matchup with Jasper for all the marbles.

  17. I hate to break bad news or be the cause of any DT and Muda posts, but unfortunately Crawford County has canceled tomorrow's game with North Harrison. I hate this for the North Harrison players, coaches, and fans and especially the North Harrison seniors. I am very sorry.

  20. Western Boone goes south but there is still no shortage of teams in the north that could give Cass/Pioneer a game. Eastbrook hasn't lost to a 2A or lower team all season. Boone Grove hasn't lost all season at all. Andrean's 3 losses are to 4A and 6A opponents. Rensselaer Central will not be an easy out either. Finally, I never discount Luers at the 2A level either no matter what their record is.

  21. I love the idea that a Tipton loss will send them into slow time to take on an old rival. Ahhh the good old days, when Tipton people get all up in arms about RC making it further in the state tournament. Tipton fans getting their underpants in a wad over a late touchdown scored by an Ahler kid. Let's put some gas on the fire! Guess what! You will probably get to do it again next week. What a fun time had by all.

  26. Dude was a legend in Idaho. He had one of the fastest releases ever and I heard he had a rocket for an arm. Sources say he could throw the pigskin a quarter mile. Some people believed he could throw it over mountains. Brett Favre's and Patrick Mahomes' arms have nothing on his.

  28. The overall quality of basketball in the NIC would drop without Riley, Washington, and Adams. Riley, Washington, with the addition of Marian have dominated the NIC. You would be taking away 2 of the 3 best teams in the conference.

  30. Anthony Spencer!! I saw him play but I was too young to really appreciate how good he was (saw him in the 00 semi state when i was in 6th grade!)

  34. I remember playing against him my junior season when he and Artis Chambers were seniors on Snider's squad. Both of them were just unbelievably talented. I'll never forget going to a 7 on 7 tournament and seeing him play. REALLLYYYY glad we didn't match up against Columbus East because I would have thrown at least 6 INTs to him. Guarantee it. Some others I'll add to the list - as a homer, current Merrillville HC Brad Seiss was/is arguably the best Warsaw Tiger to have ever played. He was a fantastic athlete and is mostly remembered for his career as a tailback, but he actually started Varisty as a freshman in the defensive backfield for the Tigers. Another that I always like to add to this list is Chris Kramer from Huntington North. I feel like it always gets forgotten at how much of an athlete he was on the gridiron after he went on to play and start on the Purdue basketball team. We played against Huntington North my sophomore year in sectionals and he did everything for the Vikings. QB/Safety/Punter/Kick Returner. He literally never left the field. He was an absolute stud.

  36. I've never seen a better high school back in the hole than Markell. He had great feet and vision. So much fun to watch, even when he went for 300+ against us in the 2014 semi state.

  40. I'll say this. As long as everyone is healthy after the next game between them(this meaning Cass can keep from getting upset by HH), I can't see it doing anything but making the Kings a better team for the tournament. This goes for any team that has had to play WL this year. Other than maybe Western who i don't think even played WL, the conference isn't going to see a team of that size and speed in the tournament all the way to LOS. So for players to see it and play against it, it elevates your game if you accept the challenge which from the only two games I saw, Cass and RC, they did. Were they both blowouts yes but there are always positives you can take away from losses, especially regular season.

  41. Has the time come to just contract high school football? I mean between the winners losing money, and the bad schools being bad, maybe it's just time we call it a day?

  42. Brian Moore once challenged Lance Armstrong in a "Who has more testicles?" contest. Brian Moore won by 5. How many years does Herb have left in his coaching career? The folks at Seeger should build a statue of him for the way he's turned their football program around.
