I would personally like luers to keep the grass field. Something about coming out of the lockeroom stopping at the Grotto and heading over the hill and onto the grass field is nostalgic for me and I'm sure alot of other past players.

What ever its condition, I do miss watching the Knights at Luers Field. Thanks to the Luers Dads for taking care of the turf. I know it will be ready to go soon! Thanks to the Saints for letting us use your field.

My understanding is that most schools fund their turf privately but I admittedly don't know the details on many of them. Penn has had turf for a long time now but I recall them soliciting private donations for it. Still surprising to me that Luers can't find a way to fund it. Off the top of my head, I know they have professional football and baseball players that have made pretty good money and I'm sure there are some other wealthy families in the fold.

Out of my respect for your wishes Irish and not further hijacking a thread, I will not respond to absolutely ludicrous comments made in the response to Grover. Bishop Luers....sure hope you get that turf field.

And somehow I got pulled into a "rabbit-hole" discussing Snider needing a field, and then also turfing Bowser Field (lower-level/practice facility). Heck, ya know I am just gonna TURF my lawn now. I am totally convinced that THIS is the wave of the future! But I will need a sponsorship, I just don't have the revenue.... DONATE TO THE GID!!!!

Unfortunately, my loyalty lies farther north than Gibson county. I am really intrigued (as a Purdue fan) to see how Allen and GS finish this season. Best of luck!

Adults can understand that the condition a school system is a direct reflection of how it is run which runs into the type of stuff you're afraid to discuss. It's also the underlying problem related to why the football programs, along with everything else in SBCSC, are failing. That's not political opinion. Political issues that deal directly with education are ok to an extent; because for many urban programs and districts, the impact of political moves have impacted them in many ways, and athletics have felt the impact in a ripple effect. Like most large cities, it seems to be a standard. The problem with just saying "look who the people voted for Mayor" has nothing to do with the politics in education. To clarify, @LaSalle Lions 1976 mentioned the cities with multiple schools; Indy has IPS; where there are also a couple of charter schools with teams; but none of those teams are seeing any level of success; and it's been several years since any of them have seen any level of success. There are 8 Township districts; 2 with 2 high schools, along with Speedway and Beech Grove schools. In Fort Wayne, there are 2 districts with 4 or more schools; FWCS and EACS (Heritage, Woodlan, New Haven, and Leo). Snider has been a traditional power for a long time. In EACS, Harding, prior to closing had some success as well. Leo is currently doing well, and the current football team has a chance to make a deep run, with East Noble to face this week as a big challenge. What I see as a factor here is investment in the programs, along with a run of something that RARELY gets mentioned; having the jimmys and joes on the field. Shifts in population are a factor as well.

The Vikings will have to play their best to get by a good North Knox team, if they do that they will be heavy under dogs to MD or Linton. MD's James Ralph is a big, strong, very very quick young man. Will be a problem for every team they play!

USC Week, which means a game under the lights and a lot of recruits in town. The Irish should be able to handle the Trojans after not meeting last year. Also hope that the next Pete Carroll doesn't come and make USC what it was in the early 2000's.

At the 1:05 mark didn't look like Drew Wheat had a problem racing for a 67 yard TD on that same field. @Lysanderperhaps the Irish Athletic Department can muster up to play at Broad Ripple for the next Cathedral vs CG game to appease the complaining. Do you think the administration at the corner of Crittenden Ave and Kesslar Blvd would be okay with that in 2 years now that they no longer play home games at the field of Champions? 😆

Again, as I said earlier. the NEIGHBORHOOD will not allow a full on Stadium to be put in place at the Bowser Field location. Heck, the extended residents weren't in favor of the Layhmeyer Road facility either. Even capitulating to the neighborhood to construct a Baseball facility off Long Road, they couldn't put in lights. I am befuddled as to where a full on FB Stadium could/would be constructed...perhaps off Coliseum Blvd.? (Old Home Depot location...) But now that brings us to the funding of the construction. Are you sure that the 'ultra-conservative' FW taxpayers would vote for a tax increase to give Snider a stand alone facility; When they seem to be content with the current situation on Friday nights sharing a facility with Northrop?

Snider's Turf Field is located off Cook Road, at a facility named "Spuller Stadium" You changed the entire narrative of "turf fields" by introducing lower level games. That is NOT the topic, nor the thrust of the original post. (Even if you are correct) Unless and until, the Fort Wayne residents on the near NE side agree and allow an expansion of Snider facilities to include a FB Stadium, the current 'sharing of a facility' on Friday nights will continue. I think it is much more incumbent upon FWCS to solve the situations with Wayne/North/South at this time, then deal with the Snider issues later.

This is the LAST place to turn to if you are looking for this to be corrected. It is the AD's responsibility to lodge a formal complaint with an official's name.

Perhaps a moderator could excise the officials’ name from that first post. You are correct that this is not something an official can take upon himself, and impose on the teams without their agreement. The proper recourse is to report this to Asst. Commissioner Faulkens at the IHSAA, as opposed to calling out the official by name on a public forum.

Question for the Judson fans- Why did Allen only touch the ball 10 times against Pioneer and why isn't he playing fullback? When they play Winamac he better get at least 20 touches if they want to win. He was by far their best offensive weapon

In your opinion. Personally, I think Roncalli is a great story. A dominant team for a long time, they went to 4 straight championship games in the early 2000s. Then they went 25-27 over the next 5 yrs., and never got beyond a 2nd round sectional game. Then they slowly began to build back up, but they didn’t win a sectional again until 2014, and by 2016 they had a 15-0 state champion. Then they took a dip, going 18-15 the next 3 seasons before their championship last season. The point is, between the success factor and the up and down nature of high school classes, Roncalli’s success has been cyclical … just like that of every other program that is considered “dominant.” You don’t like Roncalli winning championships? Have a little patience. History tells us there will be a “down” cycle soon.

The odds of Luers winning state is about the same as Center Grove and Cathedral.
