Most folks probably spend more per month on a gym membership that they never use than on GID for the year ... and probably don't enjoy the gym half as much when they go as GID. Then again, there is always that one friend that you have that keeps asking you for your Netflix password.3 points

Some big games this coming Friday. Both games will be nip and tuck. I had to do a lot of research looking at the numbers and seeing how both adapt to the elements. LS puts a real scare into MD but eventually the MD coaching staff will pull out all the tricks like finding a 3 legged dog and then convincing the MD players that LS was to blame for it only having 3 legs and then it will be all over. NP 28-21 NK MD 66-1 LS3 points

It'll just end up being a couple of extra posts in the traditional end-of-season, sky-is-falling, end-of-the-world, doom-and-gloom, Indiana-football-is-dead, kill-them-all ... sorry, got carried away ... thread after the state championship games' weekend.2 points

Pete Carroll made USC get sanctioned after he high tailed it north and to a different League. He won a lot but he left a lot of damage behind when he skeedaddled.2 points

Another crazy game between the two schools. I think the first meeting came down to Leo converting that 4th and 8 with 2 minutes to go, and this game can be pin pointed to a couple plays here or there that would have changed the outcome again. Really, really impressed with Barbour on that final drive.. Kid has ice in his veins. Such a shame it had to come in the opening round.2 points

Ahh a game at the Roy in Oct/November can only mean one thing...rain, rain, rain and grass about 6 inches high.1 point

Hahahaha Evansville recruiters? The last 3 losses to us must have really given you nightmares over the years. Just promise me that if we win you won’t blame the loss on dominion and then demand 28 recounts.1 point
-
Even when MD was good in past seasons they still never got close to 66 or 67. LS wins 35-28. The Evansville recruiters go home losers1 point

Shoot, my apologies I must have fat fingered it. I meant to say 67-1…no way MD scores 66, that would be silly. I forgot to add that after the game LS gives coach G a key to the city and promises to put up a statue of him.1 point

Pick your poison…cause I don’t believe they have tackled RBs as big as Lukeman or Dickerson either.1 point

Evansville Memorial might have an argument with that….a pretty legit one having relatively recently played in 3 championship games and walking off with a 3A and 4A title. As regards Gibson Southern, I’d wager they’re ready for the challenge. The last time they played an Indy power was in 2015 in horrific conditions in a game that really could have gone either way. Even so, I think the assumed title game between GS and Brebeuf would be a great game. Like @fenderbender stated, Brebeuf will need to get pressure on GS because I don’t think they’ve faced a QB quite like him.1 point

We will see. As a Purdue fan, I hope they are that dominant because that makes Brady Allen look all the better (and after today, a promising quarterback would be a welcome sight). That said, it's rare for a team from that part of the state to be competitive at the state level, let alone dominant. Usually when they have to play Indy-area teams, it's game over.1 point

I don’t thing BJ is quite at a different level. The GS kid still has not thrown an INT. BJ QB has some WR that make him look good as he is not really an accurate thrower. Can BJ get pressure on QB will be the question.1 point

I thought Jasper actually threw the ball better this year than last. Last year they really struggled, but this year they seemed somewhat capable. 5 turnover make any offense look suspect.1 point

I’ve been floating the idea to some other followers of the SAC that the big 5 should split off and add 2 teams and make a 7 team league. Play the other 6, 2 out of conference with the conference title in week 9 or 6 conference and no championship game with 3 out of conference. I think it would be good for the top 5 in the SAC and the bottom 5 as those schools maybe will finally gain some traction not having to face powerhouses half of their season. Doubt it will ever happen though. Here’s to wishful thinking!1 point

Just watched the game on Summit City Sports. That was a really exciting last 6 minutes of the game. However, the best part was the energy and enthusiasm from the broadcasters.1 point

Boom! Best of luck to both teams! Let's hope for good weather and an injury free game...and may all fans make it to the game and home again safe & sound! Ya gotta love high school football!1 point

Sounds good to me. However Globemster3 is not a current booster. He was a booster in 2020-21. You are a 2021-22 booster.1 point

Globemster3 - I think we are both "Boosters" already but since we cannot meet over a sausage biscuit- "To the victor go the spoils!?", how about in the spirit of doing something good for someone else. we make our bet a donation to the GID? I will give you LS straight up, no pts, I will take MD. You set the amount. It's a win/win - at least for the GID! SR1 - any issues with this? If the loser doesn't pay up, you can lock us out of the GID for the rest of the year! 😎1 point

Which brings me to Homestead. I've heard their kids mention the SAC title as a goal, but never a state championship. Does that type of mentality hinder them when they square off against Sectional 4?1 point

In town visiting family & watched highlights of this on the news. Looked like one of the better games in the area. I know I'll get flamed for what I'm going to say, but, this 1st round matchup between two top-tier teams is a good argument for seeding. No way they should have seen each other this early.1 point

Not sure what I’m missing here but I have a hard time believing ND doesn’t cover the 7 tonight. Sort of a sucker bet. Now, if they trot out of the tunnel wearing those damn green jerseys, all bets are off.1 point

When did you see Winamac play? Winamac's team this season reminds me a lot of the 2013 Tri Central squad that won state. They are big upfront, pretty athletic up there too. They have a balanced running attack with QB, FB and both wings getting touches. Their QB can throw it too (threw for 1k as a freshman and sophomore) and threw all over CC last season but Winamac has the type of offense that if they can just keep it simple and beat you they will. That's why they don't drop 60 on teams. Coach John Hendryx doesn't like doing that and does a great job at rotating his 2nd string kids. They could have beat WC 70-0 tonight or Caston a few weeks ago but didn't. Winamac doesn't have the "stars" that the 2013 or 2014 teams did but they are better coached, have more depth and instead of having 3/4 studs, they have 4 really talented kids and 7 or 8 pretty solid kids. North Judson's defense is really good. Their offense can be a bit shaky but their main studs Cheyanne Allen and Aldric Harper are very good...along with Owen and Quinton Frasure on D. They got Brennen Benson up front and he's a solid OL/DL. Their passing game isn't super strong but if Harper gets the time, he can throw it. Allen and Senior Kason Sanchez are both capable receivers.1 point

Leo still run the straight T?? If so, that’s a heckuva drive with under a minute to go to score and take the lead. Hope to see them in Lucas. Always entertaining to see a system that isn’t just zone left, zone right, RPO world. I’ll be rooting for them the rest of the way1 point

I understand where you may think I am out to lunch on the Eastbrook vs Tipton game being 31. I just believe it may be a trap game where Tipton plays 2 of the weekest cic teams to be in the final. Eastbrook plays 2 solid non conference teams to get in the post season mode! We will see and maybe I am wrong on total win spread but who knows good luck to all! 😉1 point

I hate to say this, but that Northview victory makes the SIAC look…well, not good. Yes I know any team can lose any day, but that was the SIAC top dog going out in round 1. Not cool1 point

2017 - Thought Eastbrook was easily best team in 2A. Thought they'd win state. They choked against Woodlan in semistate. 2018 - Thought they were about the 3rd best team in 2A (behind Western Boone and Tipton) and that turned out to be the case. Actually thought they blew a good opportunity in the state game with the onside kick to open the 2nd half. Just horrible. 2019 - Exceeded my expectations that year. That team maxed out their potential, if not exceeded it, and I was glad to see it. 2020 - After being assured by you that Eastbrook was way better than they were in 2019, I thought they'd at least win sectional since they went to state the year before. Needless to say, they fell short of expectations last year. 2021 - Just read my comments here. Said I thought they'd be undefeated through the regular season. Granted, it didn't really take Nostradamus to make that prediction if you looked at how terrible their schedule is, but that does mean that I've been on point so far this season. Yes, there was a time I'd get on the prediction threads and pick Eastbrook to lose to everyone like Elwood and other crap CIC teams because it was amusing to watch you lose your mind about it but I did not actually think they were going to lose those games. Did I "hope" they'd lose some of them they didn't? That's probably accurate. There's been numerous instances where I thought things were handled inappropriately within their athletic department and I tend not to cheer for people who I think do the wrong things.1 point

Thank you for what you do DK. I might also add that all of the content moderators on here are not compensated for their time (or their troubles)! I can think of very few investments that I have made over the past few years, that have given me as much enjoyment as the DIgest, and I don't read but about 15% of the topics.1 point

I forgot to touch on the costs. Our collation is just over $200 a month. I budget it at $2500 a year. The forum software went up from $170/yr to $240/yr this fall (they hadn't changed the price for e over 10 years though). Our SSL certificate runs $399 every 2 years so $200/yr. We own the .net, .com, .org, and .info URLs which costs about $100/yr to keep the registrations up to date. To keep the hard drives on a 3 year replacement rotation it costs between $100/yr to $150/yr depending on the current market prices. Then there's all the hours I put in that would be billed at $75-$100/hr that I charge exactly $0/yr for 🙂. I'm sure that are a few minor incidentals I'm leaving out but it's pretty easy to see how quickly we reach an annual operating cost north of $3k. I don't mind sharing these numbers at all. I think I had a similar post on a recent years post where it was ask. I think this thing has far outgrew anything Tim ever imagined when he started it up.1 point

Clearly South Bend has problems and no doubt politics likely plays a big part in it, but even a program that was pretty legit just 8-10 years ago like SB St. Joe has fallen off the edge the Earth in recent years. Curious, so aside from a political failure in the city, there would appear to be other major factors at play - at least in the case of St. Joe….or are their woes stemming from something altogether different? To a point, one might think they would directly benefit from the woes of their local public schools in terms of public school kids moving over but there is no evidence of that happening - at least on the gridiron so far. BTW, thanks for indirectly reminding me that I need to ante up again as well. Just keep forgetting.1 point

I'm an old retired man, cancer survivor and CHF survivor. If I had expendable cash I'd be delighted to support this site. I'm lucky to be able to get to the games. Maybe you should remember that all folks aren't financially sound before you go accusing them of free loading.1 point
