Mater Dei's DEFENSE controlled the LOS the entire game. Scecina did not get a 1st down until their 2nd drive of the 2nd half that would eventually lead to their lone TD. They would only get 3 more 1st downs the rest of the game. Scecina D was stout as well but with offense sputtering, the Scecina defense was on the field too much. The Wildcats & their fans get a 3rd straight week of Nap Town Turn-arounds...LOS here we come!

It’s semi-state and the HNAC still has a team alive and well. North Judson hosts Adams Central. The Flying Jets come in as the favorite, but anyone who has seen the Jays play knows this should be a game from open to close. The HNAC schedule has helped this Jays team to be a real contender in 1A not only this season but moving forward. I hope to see a bunch of fans from other HNAC schools come out tonight and support the Jays.

I’m thinking you’re going to see a very well officiated game. This crew is working their first semistate as a crew. But several of their officials have worked multiple state finals on other crews. The Head Linesman is particularly talented.

Irish win 52-13 Irish junior Carson Johnson rushed for 232 yards in the first half. No Irish starter played in the 2nd half. Looks like Zionsville vs. Cathedral in the 5A final next Friday at LOS. Game time estimate 7PM. Can't seem to get any scores on the Harrell site tonight.

I'll say Westfield will give CG a decent game. I'm not silly enough to come out and declare that they will win. Last year, none of Westfield's kids had ever played in LOS, whereas CG had played there against Carmel the prior year. The stage was probably too large for them early on. They did shut out CG the second half, and no, CG did not pull their starters until well into the 4th qtr. This year, Westfield has most of the key players from last year back. If they can get off to a good start, the game may well be closer than people think.

As I previously said Any team that has speed that can get to the outside will give NJ fits. That's why the conditions of the field really hurt Winamac and that's why North Judson didn't want to play Winamac at Logansport on Saturday. Game would have been much much different.

So, let's play basketball! Nah, just kidding. I like the resiliency of this Ben Davis team. Got put on the canvas a lot this year and kept getting back up. Center Grove is a juggernaut. They'll cruise next week. There's a reason why they are Indiana's #1 and #9 in the nation.

Unless my memory is completely gone (wife says it's heading in that direction anyway), I seem to recall that the IHSAA announced last year that they were going to start considering geography of the participating schools when developing the actual schedule of the state finals games. I think it meant that, for example, if 2 South Bend area teams were in the finals in different classes, they reserved the right to schedule those games consecutively as a convenience to the fans of that area. In fact, as recently as last weekend, the IHSAA site indicated that the schedule would be released on November 20 (I'm not talking about home team designation, that will still be done next week), after the semi-state games. Now, tonight (Nov. 18), the IHSAA site shows that the odd-numbered classes are on Friday, evens are on Saturday, the traditional schedule type for many years. Was my memory failing me?

Throw in the fact that public defenders also push their clients to take plea deals as well. But THIS guy should not be the model for this when you look at the demographics of incarceration rates. A telling stat.........95% of all inmates in prison in the US never had a trial. The "get tough on crime" mantra for the last several decades has driven us to this point....as has the for profit prisons in so many places across the country.

Good luck to the NLC Northridge Raiders! What an unbelievable turnaround in the postseason. Rolled through inferior opposition the first 4 weeks of the season only to go 1-4 the rest of the regular season, with those 4 losses by 33, 34, 33 and 44 points. Absolutely incredible job all around from the coaching staff to the players. I gave the Raiders ZERO chance against Leo two weeks ago, and they proved me wrong then. If they were able to stop the Lions, I think that proves they at least have a shot to hang around with the Cougars tonight.

Coach is also amazing to trade film with! Some guys especially the "Old School" ones can try to be sticklers (Which I don't get because with hudl and YouTube you can almost find any game from any team in the state 🙄) But Coach is always willing to help out a conference school and trades film back and forth willingly and easily made me gain a ton of respect for him and his program this year competing against him in the ICC

4A Semifinal Preview: Mt. Vernon (Fortville) at Evansville Memorial

To be totally honest The Reporter is in Greenfield (where Greenfield-Central High School is located). They are currently covering Mt. Vernon (Because GCHS is not playing in the tournament) they also covered New Palestine during their Tournament runs (because GCHS was out of the tournament). They are all in the same conference the HHC.

Sometimes the simplest tasks such as updating a web site or page is the hardest thing to do.

Great article. To a certain extent, I think our local media has gotten spoiled with 3 teams advancing to Semi-State in football. Its nice to see coverage recognizing the achievement of winning 4 games in the post season as the Greenfield media has done. Enlow will be ready and rocking come game time. It is arguable, but I would rate our 2021 D as slightly better than 2019. Hopefully we can spring Brody and Tyler free on some runs and get them into space where they are dangerous. In 2019 it was 6-3 at the half, but Memorial took advantage of a few miscues and mental mistakes (including a MV player being ejected for punches) to extend the lead and close it out 28-3. Ironically, Memorial had defeated Mooresville the previous week by the same 17-14 score in the Regional as last week against East Central, so hopefully that brings some good karma, but I suspect this one will be a lot closer than 28-3. Safe travels to the Mt. Vernon team and their fans.

Coaches, if you're going to try this, please bring it up with the officials in the pregame conference so that there are no surprises out there, and everyone can have a calm discussion about what constitutes illegal forward handing, and what does not.
