Apologies upfront if I am violating any GID rules or policies for posting this link from Channel 14 but I think stories like this need to be shared as widely as possible as there is too little "good news" and too few inspiring stories these days. https://www.14news.com/2022/08/26/princeton-tigers-kick-off-sunrise-school-spirit/ The Tigers are getting excited about tonight's game and Kicking off the Sunrise School Spirit canned food drive! We had a lot of kids here early to participate in the festivities! Go Tigers!4 points

With that record they're apparently not recruiting very well either.3 points

Our grass field at New Palestine was a rutted mess and we spent a small fortune trying to just get it in playable shape. It was *only* used for the 15 or so varsity/JV/frosh games we'd host in a given year, as well as some band practices. Since putting in the turf, the field is probably used 200 days a year. The football team practices on it daily (and when they're not practicing on it, the soccer teams are). Both soccer teams host 1-2 games a year on it. Baseball practices on it in the winter and early spring. Summer/offseason workouts in multiple sports, club soccer teams rent the facility. It's been great. We've since built a new softball field with turf and are considering adding turf to our other outdoor venues because of the cost savings on maintenance and the amount of use (also, if you have turf fields, you're more likely to host IHSAA tournament events because the better drainage lessens the likelihood of a weather delay/cancellation).3 points

So, I keep hearing how great the run defense is for Laville's #1s. Just wondering if the #1s were on the bench for the 1st half? Just sayin...2 points

Or … the teams are making the officials a big part of the game.2 points

That young man is the true definition of perseverance, what a great story of not giving up. Wow great article.2 points

I think its hard to argue the outstanding players for the Irish in the skill positions. Guessing they will keep them out of swampy quagmire fields and feature them on Tech's turf........ Just kidding....well, kind of.....😉2 points

In these days of open enrollment, why are there eligibility restrictions on transfers?2 points

Snider is good. There's no debating that. The problem is that there is four other good teams in the SAC. Lot's of competition left.1 point

The play action can only work with an idea of actually gaining 3 to 5 yds every run..2015 looked more open imho due to them having a solid run game..the pistol n 3 wide scheme.. although they were adjusting at the line..also had elite talent for that level..eastern michigan recruit at wr did what he could within the offense tonight...I agree..this game may help them during tourney time..1 point

Ya, I know Snider is run first, so that likely limits development of any of their QB's to be a throwing QB. As I'm hoping they can take this game and learn from it use when it really counts in post season.1 point

Brownsburg making a big statement. Might be just as big of a statement from Ben Davis last week as they nearly beat the Dogs. Cathedral will be fine and they’re still my pick to win 6A.1 point

That’s scary lol that’s a level easily capable of winning 5A and being competitive in 6A1 point

Gotta give LV coaches credit for making the halftime adjustments. Triton is a very good team and should have a great year but LV is just tough.1 point

#2 in 5A, oops is right. Dragons o line crazy dominant again and their QB is really accurate.1 point

Embarrassingly pathetic half from Cathedral. Penalties, turnovers, poor execution…lifeless. Oh yeah, Brownsburg is really good too. Edit. 4 play 80 yard score in less than a minute for Cathedral. Irish get ball to start second half. Must stop here.1 point

This offense is abysmal and the reason we lost last week. Running backs ineffective and QB is abysmal1 point

Whoever is in charge of the offensive play calling for East should not have a job. Thats the nicest way of saying it. East defense has done a pretty good job so far. Columbus East - 3 Columbus North - 0 1st quarter1 point

I've now confirmed that. He's still sitting out tonight. Will be eligible starting with next week's game against Central.1 point

Do you honestly think that a 14-17 year old kid wakes up once a year and decides to transfer from high school to high school four different times without their being some kind of “undue influence” (tampering) going along somewhere? There’s no rule that states a student can’t transfer 4 different times. But there needs to be some kind of precedent set that transferring to 4 different high schools in 4 years should be met with some kind of eligibility restriction.1 point

If that’s what the kid wants to do, why shouldn’t he be able to do that? And it’s only “tampering” if you define it as such. If my kid is a math whiz, why shouldn’t he be able to go to high school A, which has a great math teacher? And if that math teacher switches to another school, why shouldn’t my kid be able to follow him/her? One of the rationales for open enrollment was that schools would end up competing with one another for students. As a result, they would have to step up their game to compete successfully, and the students would benefit. Why do we always think athletics should be immune to that type of reasoning?1 point

Morton has been "raided" by Merrillville the last few years so apparently Morton thought it was ok to do the same!!1 point

Can’t verify or deny as I really don’t know, but wouldn’t bet against 1 or 2 of the guys playing major college football down the road. You’re talking 5 guys who who all will be making just their second varsity start later this evening. The O-Line will need a few weeks to gel and acclimate to the speed of the varsity game, but as you suggested, should be in fine tune at the end of the year.1 point

Those two were on my list of "games to watch" but I was trying to keep it tight. There are plans to give the NLC some love here in the next few weeks.1 point

We’ll that’s the problem right there. I like me a good ol Ray Lewis speech as much as the next person, but if you truly want to be inspired you need to listen to an Al Bundy speech. One of those will make you feel like you’re Rudy all game long.1 point
