This could be a complete swing and miss… GS 2022 reminds me of EM 2019. Big names graduating after state title(s) runs and some questions that needed answered about who’s the next man up. Almost feel like underdogs most nights because most outside of the inner-circle of Titan football expected a let down. Im sure Titan32 and others felt different. I had no doubts in 2019 the Tigers would make a deep run when many thought that was it. Im sure GS vs OV will be a good game with lots of big plays. Tournament wins on the road are never easy for high school teams this time of year.2 points

While I might regret wallowing out in this thread... Mt. Vernon is a very good football team, and I would challenge anyone that says differently. When you have two guys like they do in Bridenthal and Burhenn, it makes them very hard to defend. They have great schemes on defense. Their freshman QB has come a long way this season. And playing your cross-county rival and defending state champ two times at their place is difficult. I would have taken an ugly one point win and been ecstatic. Knew all week that was gonna be a tough one. I have no idea how good Roncalli, East Central, and Northwood are. I do not think NP will roll through 4A. But that alone doesn't mean the winner of 4A couldn't compete in the higher classes. I do think 4A is tougher than 5A this year. We will never know. Hell, I still think the 2018 and 2019 NP teams would have won any class those two years. Who cares what we think? It does make the message boards fun though.2 points

I was going to ask if this was Buddy Ryan’s ‘Polish Goalline’ defense. Although that play was built on only one stop needed and not 3! And the refs catching it too.1 point

Yes, there are rules at other levels that provide for time to be taken off the game clock in certain situations. But we don’t have any of those at the high school level.1 point

All right guys....here's the winning picks. I did the research, talked to the coaches, evaluated the rosters, and read DTs interviews. No stopping me this week North Posey at Paoli- After running the flex all season Paoli comes out 5 wide and refuses to run the ball. Forcing North Posey to do the same. Its a firework show. Big 12 would be proud. Not a single run happens in this game and the rams pull it out in OT 70-69. Providence at West Washington- All 3 of Providence seniors are scared to death. They've never seen a grass field. They are scared to step on it. After Coach Lowery leaves the hose on all night Thursday only 1 team can handle it. WW leads 70-0 and only the final play JR QB Kenton Chase takes the ball and kicks in backwards in celebration giving Providence a safety. Final Score WW wins 70-2. East Central at Silver Creek- East Central comes in the favorite and plays like it. They literally leave the varsity behind and let the JV play. They didn't wanna risk an injury but the problem is Silver Creek started basketball prep. Neither team wants it. Silver Creek accidently makes a 63 yd FG. Wins 3-0. Corydon at Southridge- After Corydon coaches watched the film they had a defensive revolution.....youre allowed to play 11 guys. They let 23 yr old senior LB Frank Smith play for first time and he completes the defense. Southridge can't handle it. He finishes with 20 tackles, 8 for loss, 4 sacks, 2 FF and 2 INTs returned for Tuddys. Corydon wins 14-0. Heritage Hills at Charlestown- Last year Charlestown sent an OL to Kentucky to battle in the SEC. Little did everyone know they stole his DNA and the clones are complete Wednesday. After a day of practice the new OL is ready and they run QB sneak all game. HH gets 3 possessions all game but on final play Charlestown gets the score and the 2 pt conversion. Charlestown wins 22-21. Triton Central at Brownstown- Reed May has been a legend. This night he adds to it. After all week in the lab studying film he comes up with ultimate game plan. He pays the refs. Triton Central racks up 230 yds of offense but 290 penalty yds on 31 accepted penalties. Luckily it's at Brownstown so the only Victim is the Triton Central bus on the way back that the players destroy. Brownstown wins 24-20. There it is. Clean sweep for our conferences. Appreciate the fun as always as alot may disappear for offseason. Ill be here attempting to keep up with the rumors and news. Be safe friday!!1 point

Maybe that’s true from the sidelines. But not from the back judge’s position. And he is required to count the defense every play, and signal his count to the wing officials. Lots of blame to go around.1 point

Just some thoughts on what I think are the more interesting games this week: - I'm taking Carroll by 14 over Penn. A good season for the Kingsmen and a step in the right direction in terms of reestablishing themselves, but I've maintained since midway through the season that I think Carroll is the best team outside of the Donut this year and that hasn't changed. I think they prove it in this game. - I think Norwell vs Concordia might be more interesting than expected. Wayne just took Columbia City to the limits last week and I can't get that out of my head. Was it an off night for CC or is the SAC just that much better than the NE8? If Norwell doesn't run away with this one we'll have our answer. - I think Luers is massively underrated at this point. Just a general statement really. I think they'll be playing in the semistate.1 point

You have to cross reference the bookings/arrest page below with their roster: https://www.inkfreenews.com/2022/10/22/jail-bookings-4367/ The ages of the bookings help you figure it out. You have to guess who the favorite out of the North was.1 point

I think it’s more of a hindsight thing sometimes it really doesn’t matter who you play and you just got the right dudes. OV might be in that category. other times schedule matters a lot…I would like to think that VL last week gave GS the trouble they did because they had been in tough games with memorial Reitz md and the rest of the SIAC. So facing GS was similar to facing Reitz or someone and they didn’t just fold over and kept fighting1 point

We must be in a new era. Going back four decades, if someone told me 5A would be watered down by adding Snider, Merrillville, and Dwenger, I would have admitted them into a mental institution. I suppose it's a valid statement though with no real powers out of the South and Dwenger having a down year.1 point

Does regular season schedule matter? GS and other PAC fans were saying schedule didn’t matter leading up to the S32 battles with Memorial and the rest of the field. I always felt like it was important to some degree. Now I’m hearing some of the same GS/PAC fans say schedule does matter. Has the thought on scheduling changed now that GS has beefed theirs up?1 point

You can find some bookings on inkfreenews.com I'm waiting for others to post more, and only adults can be booked, underclassman would be held waiting for parent pick up.1 point

I was at the game. Wisconsin punched it in early, no big deal. Then Purdue got the ball, on the third play: pick 6. That basically set the tone for the day... I'm still hungover.1 point

Have not seen a bit of film on the Panthers this season, so I may totally eat my words - but if Boonville has their heads on straight, I wouldn't be shocked to see the Panthers heading home Friday. Just saying...1 point

Luers is ALWAYS better than their record. Betting they definitely have revenge on their minds after last year...1 point

It took OV four quarters to achieve that score vs MV. I don’t have the MV offensive production (yet) but it was significant. MV had negative yardage against GS in the first half and the GS starters were out after one possession in the third quarter. MV ended with 117 total against our JV. Number 1, 3 and 27 look like solid players. Anything can happen in HS football, but I feel really good about this one.1 point

I don't disagree about their schedule. They've played some solid teams in conf & S Put was a decent small school team, but their noncon games I think reflect the sruggles OVs had prior to the last 2 seasons.1 point

I don't think they would have beaten the Irish, but I think they could have kept it within 10-14 point.1 point

Hate to burst your bubble but OV would be 5-5 and sitting at home this Friday if they played the Titans schedule this year.1 point

I’ve been following along all the different threads tonight and continue to read your messages making excuses and trying to belittle what sounds like an incredible game by both teams. Just go drink the crystal clear waters in Gibson county and enjoy the opportunity to play another week. Whine @$$1 point

Yep. plus I'll add one thing that separates teams this time of year is ability to kick XPG's and FG's. North is on the wrong side of that equation.1 point
