To start this off I graduated from Knox, I now live near Columbus Ohio. So proud of these kids this is something the Knox community has always wanted and deserved. It's definitely hard to compare these two schools. I have watched Chatard be a top contender for state titles my entire life and decades prior. 13 state championships and 18 appearances I believe (correct me if I'm wrong). This is Knox's 3rd sectional title ever, 1st regional ever and 1st semi state game ever. Chatard may have every upper hand possible but, there is something to be said about the will of a group trying to make history. There is something to said about the hungrier team. Lastly there is something to be said about having the best athlete on the field and Myles Mclaughlin is definitely the best player on the field tonight. Goodluck to my Redskins!3 points

Hats off to the Knox fans. They traveled well. Great turnout. Good fight from your boys. Best of luck next year.2 points

That's fair. John Hendryx was only there for 5 years and guided them to their first sectional title, he left to go to his Alma mater winamac and left arguably his best team at Knox which was Radtkes first team. That Knox team just had injuries and other issues Hendryx's five years. 6-6 9-3 9-2 7-4 11-2 (sectional champs) thats why I said he got them going and Radtke took the baton and ran with it. Knox has done well with their last two football hires.2 points

No problem, thought it was a great thing to share. Ike and Mike Haley built the Snider "Program" as a model to follow in my opinion. It's amazing I think that Snider has had only (5) head coaches in it's 50+ years of existence.2 points

Interesting that some of the things that “limits/restricts enrollment” in P/Ps are the very things that also attracts students to them?2 points

I wouldn’t underestimate Southmonts. Not very many teams go to Liptons and win in the tourney. 2nd and foremost any team with Mount in their name gets my support. I gotta go2 points
-
I think the justification for only needing 1 point to stay up is, generally, that if you are good enough to win a Sectional 50% of the time (once per 2 year cycle) thereby earning 1 point over a 2 year period then that would seem to demonstrate your ability to compete effectively in that class. Again, just my opinion.2 points

That’s what that means? I always wondered…1 point

Absolutely. The Hawks were definitely the better team tonight and I posted on the score thread that I thought the DC defense would be the MVP of the game if they gave one out. South gave up quite a few yards on ground in the first half between the 30-yard lines, with two big runs on edge runs, but they did a good job on stopping the runs between the tackles for the most part. However, the 2nd half was a different story, with DC's defense keeping the Panthers offense on the sidelines for much of the 2nd half, and our defense appeared to just run out of gas, giving up chunk runs between the tackles. I don't know how many times the Hawks ran through tackles in the 2nd half. South will lose quite of few players since they were senior-dominated, especially on defense. If my memory is correct, they will have four of five offensive line starters back, and Bryce Taylor should be back healthy doing the kicking chores. The defense will have to be rebuilt. The JV team went 8-0 and the freshman team was 5-0-1, so we have some good players coming up to the varsity next season.1 point

Decatur Central 10 Bloomington South 6 (half) Defenses for both teams have kept this to a low scoring game so far. The play in the 2nd qtr where South went for it on 4th and a half-yard at their 35 yard line, and it was a fake to the RB in which Alley the QB was sacked, was the difference in the first half and it gave DC a short field TD. If Alley had actually handed the ball off the RB they would have easily had the first down. That's the way it goes and it's still anyone's game going into the 2nd half. DC gets the ball when the 2nd half starts.1 point

Snider dodges a bullet on muffed punt return, M-ville misses FG. I don't see much "city speed" difference between the 2, actually Snider looks quicker1 point

Just looking forward to a good game. We (Jets fans) know that North Judson will come out fighting. They have nothing to lose and the target is on our backs. That's always a dangerous situation when you are the proverbial favorite. Hope we have a clean game and a chance to get an unthinkable 3rd straight trip to the state finals. Prior to the past 2 years, the semi state round has been tough on us.1 point

I didn't see me type that. I do know during entance exams, parent/student interviews, registration (heck even filing for Financial aid) etc. 40 times aren't on any of the forms or questions. Neither are Punt, Pass, and Kick ratings or elementary school stats.1 point

I’ll be honest, prior to Radtke showing up I’m not sure I had ever heard of Knox. But here’s what will happen. Knox will be well prepared. They’ll have a great game plan and they will execute it to the best of their ability. And at the end of the day, they’ll lose to a better team, but they will show up and compete.1 point

I think it would make sense to put the Semistate at neutral sites or at least come up with more equitable ways to determine who has home field, but I feel like we continue to argue and post about this here every year.1 point

Interesting. Our managers launder our stuff. They're too valuable to allow a mom to wash a new red sweatshirt with a road white jersey and inadvertently create a pink jersey...1 point

On this we can agree. But the question is why? ** As an aside. I don't take much educational advice from Facebook. I have observed the Venn diagram between 1) parents mad at the school system for teaching things without their knowledge and 2) parents mad that teachers send home too much homework - seems to be a perfect circle.1 point

Sorry.....every single one does Every single one has an admission/application process. That limits/restricts enrollment Even with tuition assistance and vouchers, the cost to attend limits/restricts enrollment. 99.9% of them have little to no special needs population, and even the ones that do have very limited resources and have to turn away certain student they know they would not be able to serve effectively. That limits/restricts enrollment. Every one of them has a performance and behavior standard in place that would not be allowed in public schools. That limits/restricts enrollment. The size of most buildings, including the number of classrooms and the number of seats available limits/restricts enrollment. These are not criticisms, but they are all realities.1 point

Well, having read the region sports board from the link above, some quotes are out there: 1. Merrillville’s defense is far superior to Snider - Wow, that is quite a statement. Not sure what games that poster watched of Snider, but the Panthers defense is pretty good. Must be the 11 D-1 starters on defense for the Pirates… 2. Snider hasn’t seen speed like Merrillville - Uh, Snider plays plenty of speed teams. FYI, Snider has plenty of speed as well… 3. The real state title game was Valpo vs. Merrillville - Let’s see how that plays out… Pretty damn sure Snider isn’t going to lay down against the Pirates and whoever comes out of the South is pretty damn good as well… It is only Tuesday so let’s see what else is said from the Region…1 point

And your reasoning is...? So Lafayette Jeff, with no dog in the fight has to mobilize their grounds crew, staffing, equipment and forsake their own sporting schedule for what? Additionally, CP loses 8-10k in concessions. Not really buying 'another stupid decision'1 point
