What a night of football!

I think it was intended as a result of private school dominance. It's been concluded that through socioeconomic factors and open enrollment, that private schools have a major advantage. That being said, there are even some public schools that have been bumped up due to success. And quite frankly, I don't know why any program would want to remain in their enrollment class if they win every year. Sports is about challenging yourselves. Go up and compete with the bigger boys. If you don't win, then go back down.

Embarrassing what this has become. Even if they land him, hard to root for this kind of nonsense. Bidding wars were not the initial intention of NIL.

This is the proverbial elephant in the room that is all too often brushed aside or simply ignored as it does not fit the desired narrative that only P/Ps recruit.

I played a total of 5 years of intercollegiate lacrosse between Notre Dame and law school at IU.

LaPorte has been playing football for over 100 years. Dave Sharpe was there for 4 of them. His Power T offense produced 3 of the top 5 offenses in school history. The other 2 were the 2014 state runner up team and the 2006 regional championship team. In his last 3 years at Noblesville his offenses averaged 350 yards per game and 25 points per game (via MaxPreps). So can we quit "blaming" it on the offense? There's a lot more to winning football games!

I'm not a very smart person, so take my opinions accordingly. That said, I think the vast majority of medium/small public schools don't work hard enough to overcome the advantages that belong to private schools. They believe they are working hard enough, but they don't know what they don't know. That's just my dumbass opinion though.

Obviously the games have to be played tonight, but it would be great to see Merrillville and Warsaw win tonight for the below story line in their potential Semi-State matchup. First, Warsaw has never won a Regional title. Last week was only their 2nd Sectional title in school history. Seeing them get their first Regional title tonight would be awesome. Second, Coach Brad Seiss is in his 10th year at Merrillville, with 7 Sectional titles and 4 Regional titles under his belt. However, the Pirates have yet to get over the Semi-State hump (0-4) and make it to Indianapolis on Thanksgiving weekend. How fitting would it be for Coach Brad Seiss to once again be 1 win away from a State Championship appearance, only to have to travel to his hometown of Warsaw and coach against his alma mater? I can only imagine the atmosphere at that game. But the Pirates and Tigers will have to take care of business first tonight.

Weird way to spell sprinklers

Yes New Pal turned it over 3 times very early in the game. As a matter of fact I think in the first Quarter it had been fumbled 3 times but the Dragons recovered one of them and they also threw 1 Int. It was very uncharacteristic of Neligh. I know BTF mentioned when he watched the breakdown of it by Coach Ralph he didn't care for the him against Sniders athletes. I honestly do think that New Pal was stunned early on by the Panthers speed and athletes. I took from Coach Ralph's talking about it that he could tell on film how athletic they were, but he was unsure how his players would react when they saw it up close and personal. Being someone who watches a lot of offensive schemes I thought the breakdowns were great. My favorite parts were when Coach Ralph talked about the timing between Steibling and Hippenhammer, also when he tried some formations and motions to get Snider into their Cover 3 based on tendency so he could utilize a couple of their passing concepts. It is not something new or special that Offensive CoOrdinators do but I enjoyed him breaking it down. I look forward to the game tonight between Chatard and New Palestine it should be a very good game. Also @CaptainHook proud of little Hook he has been fun to watch when I can in college too! I wish him the best in his future regardless what that is. Take care!

To pull this from the discussion of SOS and rankings and to the actual game at hand ... These two teams mirror each other. Both spread offenses with a home-run hitter in the passing game, accurate junior QBs and very good, fast defenses. Chatard's Jack Harrington does a nice job of spreading the ball around. They use a lot of play-action and misdirection in the passing game to get guys open, and Julio Graves is a big-time deep threat. He torched Roncalli last week on three deep balls. The running game is solid - Daniel Adams is small, but quick. Daniel Shaw isn't much bigger - both are 5-7 - and didn't play last week. They have similar stats - they've combined for nearly 1,500 yards, splitting the carries and yards almost exactly evenly between them. I like their TEs, who they threw to a lot last week. Chatard's defense is very fast, with excellent LBs. Zach Gantz has 4 INTs this season, and LB Declan Hostettler had a pick-6 against Roncalli last week. You could almost replace names with New Pal. Jacob Davis spreads the ball around well, throws a really good ball both short and deep, and uses all of his receivers. He's also a solid runner. Austin McMahan is a deep threat, with six TDs of 40+ yards this season. NP likes to spread the field both vertically and horizontally with the passing game, and also with the running game, with the threat of the jet sweep with their slots complementing Josh Ranes up the middle. Ranes has 1,841 yards and 23 TDs this season - a big, power back who has excellent speed and is a threat to take it to the house on any play. NP's line is big and good, anchored by Brock Brownfield, who has multiple Power 4 offers. Defensively, NP has been very stout against the run, holding teams to 2.5 yards per carry (in the half of the unfinished game against Decatur Central, the Hawks had 25 yards on 8 carries), led by 2x All-State DL Michael Thacker and a deep linebacking corps. Conner Jacobia has four INTs this year, while Caden Jacobia and Aalijah Lissade both have INTs in each of the last two games. From watching both teams (I've seen every NP snap and have watched Chatard on film), they're very closely matched and mirror each other. Both teams are very disciplined, well-coached, have playmakers on the perimeter, fast, physical lines and defenses and playmakers throughout. Turnovers and special teams will be key. NP has had two long kick returns the last two weeks to set up scores, BC gave up a kick return TD and fumbled a punt return but also forced a turnover on a punt last week. Both are *really* aggressive on the punt block. Chatard has given up some yards in the running game, NP has given some up in the passing game. If NP can establish its running game and control the LOS, it will be successful. If Chatard can dial up some big plays in the air, it will be successful. If either team can win the turnover or special teams battle, that will go a long way in deciding it. I'll have the audio broadcast at NewPalRadio.com. Not bad for the little farm county in NE Indiana to get 2 out of 3 to semi state. Neither will be favored this coming week. 4 years in a row they had a 1A state finalist. Getting it done! What do you say @FlyingHigh @260AC @Thor77? Small town football grows here!

It wasn't like LCC didn't have its opportunities, but it was amazing that the game was as close as it was with LCC giving away a fumble and three picks. There'll maybe be opportunity for four former 1As to be there again next year.

Really upsets me. I was ready to talk about 2A having 4 recently former 1A powers in semis.....

Congrats to New Pal. They were as good as advertised. Good luck the rest of the season! Chatard has nothing to be ashamed of, fell just a few plays short. That sophomore class is going to be fun to watch the next couple of years.

I know you’re being sarcastic…but I honestly think people don’t realize the HHC is actually a pretty good middle class conference. I know New Pal has had some big wins in conference but people also don’t realize the conference all plays in the same sectional basically as well. Hope the Dragons keep it rolling a couple more weeks

There are so many possible ways this thing could go, it’s impossible to predict. But one model would be treat the players as university employees, and have them sign contracts with non-compete clauses. Many other worms would come crawling out of that can, though.

Arguably the best Warsaw Tiger football player in school history. The Sectional semi-final in 2001 between the 9-1 Snider Panthers and 10-0 Warsaw Tigers was one of the best high school football games ever played. As a Warsaw fan, obviously disappointed in that 23-20 overtime loss, but it truly was an awesome game.

The Sagarin Rating are made before the Season. Garrett has beat 3 teams with a winning record all season. The Schedules are simply not comparable. Don't believe a pre season list go look at them. How do you explain a OT win vs a 4-6 Dekalb? Garrett's wins over Adams Central and West Noble are great but the rest are VERY weak. Knox's win over Marian alone trumps these. Wins over Griffith, Pioneer, LaVille, and Jimtown are more impressive than anything on Garrett's schedule beside the two mentioned. I challenge you to find Garrett wins outside West Noble and Adams Central that are Equal to Griffith, Pioneer, LaVille and Jimtown.

Very political word choice there....reading between the lines I liked how the wording has changed from "community support" to "community interest" ....meaning, you'll have their SUPPORT only if you WIN, and run a system in which they approve! Tread lightly

Hebert is a great football coach. He won a lot of games there as a player, assistant and HC. He deserves a lot of respect for what he has accomplished at Carmel. And from what I have been told and my interactions with him, he is a great dude. His comment on the relationships that he has built over the years speaks to that character. And him saying that he is not done with coaching should ring out with other coaches around the area. If you want a great addition to your staff, I would blow up his phone this morning and get him hired now. He would bring a ton of value to any program. As far as who will take over there, I think it's very early, and they will most certainly get a ton of interest. I would think that they will want to stick with someone that has "big school" on their resume due to the volume and sheer ancillary factors that go into running that size of a program. We are talking well over 200 players and a plethora of non-coaching related items that have to be dealt with in a program that size. Being a program at a mega-school is not about x's and o's. It's about managing the program and hiring the right guys to do the actual coaching. Almost a CEO type position. That is a different dynamic.

Castle at Bloomington South - BloomS is tough to get a read on this year. Their defense has been shaky most of the season but I think they dealt with some injuries. They lost to BloomN by two scores earlier in the year then blew them out in the sectional final and held them to 3 points. Castle has looked really good at times and struggled other times. If the Knights can get their running game going, they win. Long road trip is always a factor too. But I think BloomS will have a tough time stopping McCool. Give me the Knights winning the Regional by two scores. Reitz at Martinsville - Panthers will be making a long road trip into a tough environment. The Artesians have been impressive this season. Their QB-WR duo of Reynolds-Stroud is one of the top in the state and they look big up front. However, I don't think they have seen a team quite like Reitz on their schedule. The Panthers may have lost another starting WR last week but seem healthy besides that. They have been solid on both offense and defense lately. I think their run game could be a major factor in this one. Darrett-McClarney-Ussery is a tough trio of RBs to stop. But can the Reitz defense stop a very impressive Martinsville offense? I think just enough. Give me the Panthers winning the Regional by two scores.

Overall in high school football I guess people feel better losing in an offense they see on TV.
