  5. Impressive physical specimen. Big, strong, athletic. Tough to tell, PC was pretty vanilla offensively. Nice young man, very courteous, yes sir, no sir. I wasn’t able to really see any passes.

  7. I’ve seen that I’m not the only Green Bay fan on the forum so figured I should make a thread and not talk packers on da bearz thread. I also just happen to live in Green Bay about a mile from Lambeau, so if any of you make the venture north I would be happy to point ya to the good food and possibly grab a few brews with ya. talking points currently: packers defense very good....packers offense very bad. Usually it’s the exact opposite

  12. I’m here to eat crow!! Pioneer, is the better team, and Lewellen is the best player. I find it hard to think he is going to stay healthy all season. He takes a beating and just comes back for more, made me a believer in the kid. That would be my #1 concern. Overall I was pleased with Laville defensively, they punched them in the mouth and showed some toughness. The offense was disappointing! There seems to be no continuity in the play calling. First half seemed to be all run and second half all pass. The passing was effective but they needed to mix it up, to keep good defenses like Pioneer’s guessing. To predictable IMO. Was Watts hurt? He was hardly involved in the run game. The kid has showed he can get the edge and be explosive vertically but was nonexistent in the scheme last night. Between that and the inability to convert in the red zone, which was pathetic was the difference. They got plenty to work on but would like to see a rematch in sectionals.

  14. As a raiders fan....oof. o well. Paid him $0. Lost picks were worth the possibility of him not being crazy. He will probably just be phenomenal in NE now but we are used to this song and dance. He literally posted on Instagram how he "was going to be him and not become part of the system".....then goes to NE. Haha. Yea.....sure. I'll take my mediocrity over being in the headlines with this clown drama.

  17. I concede. Dwenger and Valpo just aren't in the same league as New Pal and Cathedral. Congrats to the New Pal/Cathedral winner on their state championship trophy.

  18. The comparison to 6A teams can never be proven. Cathedral could play up in 6A, but they have never asked. Bringing up a pre-season scrimmage? Laughable. Did you have a tailgate party at the scrimmage? Yes, New Pal will remain #1. Does it matter? This will be decided on the field. And I want to see it!

  20. Yes of course any one of those teams can beat cathedral, i agree. But no team in the state is for sure known as being "better" than cathedral. lol. New Pal will not move from their number 1 spot all year because they do not play anyone. But see you next week.

  21. please give me 4 teams that can beat Cathedral in 6A???? please name them. Do not say warren, do not say center grove. do not say carmel. Congrats to New Pal on beating center grove which makes them the greatest things in high school history, beating center grove has gotten the whole state of indiana on the New Pal train. There is not 1 team in 6A that has everyones eyes on. Warren Central is down this year. Center grove has not had carson steele all season, so please give me those four teams.

  22. No offense to Reitz Bowl, but I think The Pit is the coolest venue I’ve seen. Was it standing room only? Another fine performance by Cathedral. Trinity took Moe to the woodshed last night, so at least Cathedral easily handled the Crusaders as well. IMO, Cathedral is the team to beat in 5A right now.

  23. I don’t feel like anyone was hating on Plymouth recently. Just overconfidence in Warsaw. Great win by the Rockies. Scoring first and keeping the lead was big for them in securing the victory. Bart Ball offense is tough to play from behind with. NLC season should be great. Firmly believe no team will go undefeated in the conference, and Plymouth, Concord, Northridge, NorthWood and Warsaw all will have a chance to win the league.

  27. I believe no one asked for their money back after this one! First off, it was a shame that there was another hazmat situation on I74 this year. This is the second time in the last few years that's happened when the Irish were trying to get to the Queen City to play. We were routed off the Interstate onto Hwy.46 and we arrived just before 7PM after leaving at 4PM. As we were buying our tickets we saw the Irish buses pull up and knew there was going to be a long delay. The Irish played very well despite this situation. No excuses! I'm not sure why every D1 coach in the Country isn't knocking of the door of Shiloh Means. This young many is a football player! I hope last night's efforts will bring him some more offers. It was a shame that either team lost this one. It was a very evenly matched football game. It was back and forth all night. The Irish had a rough time shutting down the Panther QB. I haven't seen the stats yet but he might have gained 200 yards rushing in this one. The Panther TE was a handful too and it was evident that he was their go to guy. The Irish led until Elder kicked a game tying FG with only 39 seconds left. The kicking game really cost the Irish in the first half. All three Elder TD's were on a short field, including one from the six yard line. The other two TD's were from a short punt and an unsuccessful onside kick, which gave Elder the ball at mid field. The Irish offense was in high gear most of the game and it was a shame to lose when Orin Edwards couldn't quite handle a low snap in the OT. The offensive line looked like it could be a work in progress at the beginning of the season, but it has performed well up to now. The defense seemed to be chasing the ball a bit last night instead of containing the edges. It allowed the Elder QB to gain some big yards on keepers. We had a different view of the Elder hospitality. We pulled into a parking lot and were surprised that there was a $10 charge to park. Also there was a handicap parking spot available that this old Irish fan was not allowed to use. I've given up a lot of body parts for my handicap placard! But it was an easy out from where we parked and I arrived home at 1AM on the westside of Indy. That's not too bad actually, after a near 8PM start to the game. It was nice to meet some TGD contributors during the night, none being 1906 of course. It's on to Chatard next week! Anxious to see how Arlington's stadium has been spruced up. I've been told that work has been done to make the field playable. It's be nice to not have to leave town to watch the Irish play. GO IRISH!!!!!!!

  28. Bottom line. Reitz is a bad football team. See them winning maybe two more games this year. Without being able to field a freshman team this year where is the program heading. They are hard to watch this year. Even being that critical I still love the Blue and Grey. Go Panthers

  37. This is the reality at most Marion County schools. BD is not the only school with metal detectors. I have been wanded also at most MIC schools. We have the wand detectors at BD. BD's away side is the former home side. It seats probably 4K conservatively. There's always plenty of room. I'm not sure how the practice went down at the gate.

  40. Agree. If Cathedral loses to Chatard, the season is a loss unless we win the 5A title. . Arlington HS at 7p Friday. Come see the Irish play the Trojans at this venue for the first time in 10 years. Archbishop Thompson will be there managing the sexuality of everyone in attendance. God bless his conflicted soul.

  42. NIC is NOT what it used to be in terms of competition: Riley: Never really relevant. Adams: Has not lived up to the hype of their enrollment and their coach. Clay: Should disband their football program. Washington: Struggling to keep numbers. Marian: Solid 3A program. St. Joe: Failed to continue its success after the Downey Boys. Jimtown: Sort of a fish out of water in the NIC. New Prairie: SOLID football program. Penn: In a class (6A) by themselves is never a good thing. Mishawaka: LEAVING (good for MHS, not for the NIC). Bremen: See Jimtown Glenn: See Jimtown They hung their hat on being the largest conference in the state and I think they are regretting that decision from both a competitive and financial stand point. Just my 2 cents...which is actually worth 1/2 of a penny. LOL

  45. The High Price of a "Free Lunch": https://mises.org/wire/high-price-free-lunch Many in the lower rungs of the economic ladder blame their declining real incomes, and other inequities, on capitalism. They should, instead, be blaming the central bank. When the government borrows, it increases the demand for loanable funds, and with a fixed supply, interest rates should normally rise. If at the same time the central bank is increasing the supply of loanable funds by printing money to buy government bonds, then interest rates will decline if the increase in supply is greater than the increase in demand. Here, we are basically monetizing the debt. Worldwide, this printing has currently driven interest rates to zero or into negative territory. Using the economy as an excuse, central banks have been monetizing government debt, alleviating any pressure on governments to control their spending. Continuing from Keynes, Many economists are currently predicting we will experience another devastating recession in the US. Will we repeat the errors of the past by trying to fix a credit crisis with more debt? Or will we find a permanent solution by ending central banking, fractional reserve banking, and the government’s ability to borrow and print money? If we do, any future government spending would require an immediate and clear sacrifice on the part of the citizenry: unlike what politicians would have you believe; there is no free lunch.

  46. No willful ignorance here, Irishman. Just an Indiana taxpayer who wants some real accountability in our expensive government schools. ISTEP and and now ILEARN are by no means perfect, but they are a start. So you are stating that the ISTA and NEA do not lobby the Indiana State Department of Education and the Indiana Legislature on the behalf of the interests of its members?
