  3. I work in a manufacturing plant with over, 1,000 union workers where 80-90% refuse to wear masks . Our plant never shut down and had five people test positive for the coronavirus on two seperate ocassions. The company implemented a mandatory mask policy on May 04. The union workers refuse to wear masks or social distance and the union supports their workforce. I observe hundreds playing cards at picnic tables during their break and lunch periods. They sit in groups of four and no one is more than two feet away from the other three workers. No one is wearing masks or social distancing. The plant has worked 6-7 days per week since the coronavirus outbreak including all 31 days in August. There has been no further spread of the coronavirus for the past 124 days. Virtually no one is wearing masks or social distancing. The human immune system and herd immunity is the key. All of this social distancing and wearing cheap non medical grade masks from China is nonsense.

  5. That's ridiculous. ONE coach has a fever and he's considered a "close contact" of 100 football players? And this shuts down the entire football program for 2 weeks? Are these coaches living with 100 players? Otherwise, there is ZERO reason to be doing this. Feel bad for the kids who are being forced in this school system to be under these idiotic rules.

  10. Moore must have watched the film and thought it was a team they could beat. Still a shame what he did to Franklin County.

School Calls Cops on 12-Year-Old Boy Who Held Toy Gun During Zoom Class: https://reason.com/2020/09/07/zoom-nerf-gun-school-cops-kid-isaiah-elliott/ Yep, if the state has the opportunity to come into an individual's home and enforce it's asinine zero-tolerance policies there you bet it will take it. This story proves it.

  12. Shorter travel for sure, but too much discrepancy between school size and/or talent when considering other sports. Just in football...Anderson, Jay County, and Muncie Central would be guaranteed bottom dwellers. Plus, Delta/Pendelton are right where they belong in the HHC for all sports. Frankton has had equal success in basketball as Lapel, but they're a doormat in the CIC from a football perspective and Lapel/Tipton/Heights/Greentown looks like they'd be a lock for the 3rd spot in football most years and add another quality opponent to the other teams. But should a Lapel, Tipton, or Heights want in to simply play weaker competition most Friday nights? Playing Alex, MG, Blackford, Frankton, Elwood right now does nothing for a program trying to get better come tourney time. They are just guaranteed wins. I'd argue that Eastbrook/Mississinewa should want out...and Lapel, Tipton, Heights, Greentown, etc should stay far away. No clue how scheduling works, but I think you want 2-3 games that you have to play phenomenal to win. 4-5 games you need to play well to win. And 2-3 games you need to show up to win. Let the tourney play out how it may. I get that formula can never be perfect, but it'd be something I'd keep in mind as a HC/AD. I don't see Eastbrook/Mississinewa keeping that balance with 6 other teams that have no chance to beat them (Eastbrook has pulled it off in recent years, so maybe they know the secret is to frontload the first 3-4 games and then use the CIC schedule to get healthy/perfect). Plus, as I said earlier, one of the only non-conference wins was MG vs Cloverdale...I don't see much success from the bottom 5 this season come tourney time. Guess my overall question is what needs to change in the bottom 5 in the CIC - HC changes, staff changes, Youth League Emphasis, something in community, lack of spring/summer this year? Or is this a part of an overall trend we are going to start/continue to see within those bottom 5?

  13. I even think that you could have local businesses use the stream for commercials. The added income from advertising could help offset the cost and maybe make the stream be cheaper or free.

  14. These two goons are idiots. We are trying to keep the spread down so kids CAN play. Hopefully none of the players or other coaches are sick. Obviously Howe doesn't trust science and that is why he still follows the herd immunity idea. For Herd Immunity to happen safely we need a vaccine until then we need to slow the spread so our hospitals aren't overrun with the sick. The stupidity of the uneducated is why we are in the mess we are in right now. If only we listened in May and June and opened slowly, wore masks, and avoided large gatherings we would have this much more under control. All kids would be in LIVE school and we would've avoided a lot of sickness and death in our country.

  18. With the win over Pike on Friday, the Giants claimed their 500th program victory. The program took from 1937-1975 to get to 100 wins, but the Giants have won 400 games in the last 45 years. Congratulations to the 16 head coaches in BD history and all the players, assistant coaches, managers, trainers and staff who have made this milestone possible. Win #1 9/23/37 vs. Warren Central, 32-9 (Played at George Washington H.S.) #100 8/29/75 at Pike, 15-14 #200 9/22/89 vs. Terre Haute South at the Hoosier Dome, 47-7 #300 10/23/98 vs. Indy Northwest, 38-20 (Sectional) #400 10/19/07 vs. Brownsburg, 35-13 (Sectional) #500 9/4/20 at Pike, 48-24 Another interesting factoid, BD is now 35-12 vs. Pike, but the Giants are 19-3 at Pike.

  20. Per IHSAA bylaws the home game against Lake Central also has to be cancelled. If a player misses 10 consecutive days of practice they are required to have 6 practices prior to their next contest.

  22. Linton vs North Vermillion - Hopefully both teams make it out of this game healthy. Miners 56 Falcons 6 Parke Heritage vs Caroll - Wolves only scheduling cupcakes and not afraid to post their stats! PH 49 Carroll 20 South Vermillion vs North Central - Thankful to have a game, wish it was against someone better. SV 54 NC 0 How many weeks until SV-PH?? Seeger vs Riverton Parke - Seeger rolls. Seeger 48 RP 12 Sets up the somebody has to win Bowl next week: RP vs NV Covington vs FC - Trojans showed some fire power last week, must be some XFL play calling. Trojans 42 Mustangs 12 I would like to see Parke Heritage and South Vermillion scrap the rest of their schedule and just play each other for the next 5 weeks heading into the tournament. I don't think the rest of the WRC is within 4 TD's of these 2.

  25. I have no idea who thought John Glenn's defense was the "real deal" after playing Boone Grove and Riley, but what I saw Fri night was not a real deal. Awful tackling and no speed meant many big plays Next 4 weeks we will see if SJ has turned the corner or play a team not very good like the end of last year

  27. I don't like the headline of this thread. I guess "suspends season" is technically correct, but I thought after reading the headline they were done for the year. "Suspended for two weeks" is a lot less jarring to read. As far as Chesterton - 48 hours prior to symptoms is the worrisome timeframe. Depending on when the coach started showing symptoms, Friday night may not be in that window.

  28. Thumbs Up: East Central defeating Moeller 21-6. This Indiana HS win over an historic GCL powerhouse has gone largely unremarked. I’m not sure there has been a bigger EIAC victory ever outside of East Central and Lawrenceburg’s prior State Championships. It seems like every corner of the State loves to b!tch and moan about being disrespected but there is nowhere in Indiana as overlooked as Southeastern Indiana. Congrats to East Central.

  29. Something that may be worth noting this week....Coach Hart has the chance to tie the great Jack Jewell for most wins all time at Gibson Southern should they come away with the win vs Boonville. Of course this doesn’t take into account that Coach Jewell also coached at Ft. Branch High School before consolidation happened to create GS. I think he had 120ish wins total including Ft. Branch. Just thought it was interesting considering this is only year 9 with Coach Hart and he is knocking at the door of this achievement. Big game this week with Boonville. They are a good team. Hopefully we can get it done. here are the Gibson Southern Coaching records over the years

  31. 1. Highland will go sub .500 again this year like they have the last several and likely 1-4 in the NCC. Your Trojans are probably not going to ever beat Hobart and are just as unlikely to beat Lowell and Andrean this year. Ceiling is 2-3 in the NCC this season and Sectional runner-up with the right draw. 2. Slim. Too much mismanagement in Hammond. Kids wanted to play - school board says no. One of the only districts in the state to suspend athletics. Give the consolidation era a couple years to see if things improve across the board (cumulative improvement/competativeness in athletic programs at Morton and Hammond High (not just in football basketball), stability at AD, community support, numbers in programs to provide full freshman and JV teams, things of that nature) and maybe then they’ll get an invite. 3. Griffith is in for a long year. Hear the sideline wasn’t too deep against Lowell Friday. They’ll be down for a while and will struggle to pick up many wins in the GSSC this year. Bad time for Gtown. But it’s a pandemic 4. They’ve already returned to full varsity. Probably have more kids in the program than Griffith. Hopefully BNI can get a win this week against a very down Boone Grove. 5. Munster will get back eventually. Shows how impressive a job Leroy did keeping the Mustangs competive for all those years. 6. No. They did that in the past from 07-12 and had Penn on the schedule for 4 seasons after that. Merrillville-Hobart is a premier Region rivalry renewed that I doubt either side is looking to get rid of any time soon. Andrean rivalry went 5-5 last decade. Andrean is 2A enrollment, but 5A in spirit. Niners won’t leave the schedule so long that school is on 5959 broadway a mile north. The inevitable move south could change things. 7. Probably a little bit. 10. Good class of talent in DeMotte-field this year. That’s part of their success. Another part is a weak non-conf. schedule that should set them up to be at least 2-1 to start every year. 11. Nope 12. EC deserves to be independent. Pretty difficult district to work with. School board runs the show and that hurts the athletic department. Program will be fine. It’s a pandemic and they’re as urban and poverty stricken as you can get. They’ll be back post-pandemic to a full schedule. EC would be more likely to receive an invite to the GSSC before any other conference in NWI. No shot they’d get in the NCC, and the world will burn before they ever receive interest from Duneland again. appreciate the Region discussion, DT

  33. Jeffersonville is actually playing at Columbus East due to field construction. Also, Jennings County is at Seymour rather than the other way around. Regardless, I also have all four of the teams you picked to win. Seems like another easy week of pick ‘em.

  35. I believe North will be Reitz, but it may or may not be a trap game for them. Jasper should have no trouble beating Bosse Central should beat VL unless they have a bad night Castle will blow out Harrison I think Memorial will win this one against MD, but will be an slugfest like last year

  36. Closer to 0.50 - 99.50. Cathedral has too many weapons this year for Chatard to defend for 4 quarters, and their offense definitely can't go toe to toe in a shootout. Hope the rivalry aspect keeps this one close, but I fear another mercy rule for the Cathedral juggernaut.

  37. Brown County 3-0 at Indian Creek 2-1 BC's SOS isn't great so far. IC is historically better. I'll take Indian Creek 55 Brown County 28 Cascade 0-3 at Cloverdale ,0-3 Two programs struggling really bad this season. Tossup.. here. Cascade 14 Cloverdale 13 North Putnam 0-3 at Sullivan 1-2, NP comes off a shellacking from their rival South Put. Sullivan fell flat against historical powerhouse Northview. Sullvan rebounds and wins by four touchdowns, Sullivan 35 North Putnam 7. Northview 2-1 at West Vigo, 3-0 Game of the week. West Vigo has been impressive this season. I picked them to lose last week and they proved me wrong. Northview is head and shoulders above the rest of the WIC this season. Northview wins 20-8. The Viking defense holds but not enough. NV wins WIC big school but won't get out of sectionals, as usual since they're stuck in an always tough sectional. Owen Valley 1-2 at Edgewood 2-1 Edgewood int as good as their record but they still take the W. Edgewood 32 Owen Valley 28 South Putnam 3-0 at Greencastle 1-2 Second game of the week. South Putnam established themselves last week. They are averaging 60 points per game and only giving up 15. Impressive for the 1A school. The next several weeks will be battles for SP, Greencastle, Edgewood, West Vigo, and Brown County! They will win sectionals and have a heck of a game versus Lutheran for regionals. Greencastle will be hungry after losing by one point to WV but SP takes this one 22-14.

  38. I tend to only follow on game days while out at a game. No real preference on the more/less aspect. I'm normally just checking for updated scores during game time, so as long as folks are posting them, that mainly all I come for on Twitter ... I don't even have a Twitter account.

  39. No interest in visiting that site. I know what they are and what they are about. As far as no word from Biden; maybe you missed it. He spoke pretty strongly condemning any violence from groups on the left and the right. Far stronger words than what the President has said.

  40. I'm surprised the State Health Department hasn't caught wind and been involved. Not that I agree with them doing so, but the company would be in for some fines by the State Health Department which I would imagine create action with the Union. The Health Department has been issuing fines to places of business not in compliance with the mandates.
