  1. It is also an apples and oranges comparison. The basketball tournament has multiple teams playing at the same site on the same nights, so crowds coming from multiple communities along with teams made it necessary to cancel. Plus, we knew very little at that time. We now know in football the steps necessary to minimize the impact as much as possible. Only one game a night and with smaller crowds outside is a lot different than neutral site gyms with multiple teams and multiple sets of fans.

  2. HH has not had it's full roster all season. There hasn't been a game this season where they have had their entire roster. Tis the "Covid 2020" football season. With that said, no excuses. This is the team they have. Get better each week regardless of outcome. Remember that every team in the state is 0-0 in week ten!!

  4. Looks like this thread has been hijacked by 17 year olds taking jabs from the school computer labs, aka their parents' basement in the year of covid. Or at least I hope these are teenagers. Looking forward to watching two great programs go to war tomorrow night. I hope it's more exciting than most on here are anticipating. Go Trojans!

  7. I had no idea.......I wasn’t lying when I said I wasn’t paying attention. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen virtually every vid on YouTube, yard looks great, daughter’s yard looks great, and we’ve been having a fire just about every night, so I’ve been consuming copious amounts of Makers.

  9. The moderators on this site do not operate that way. The consistent message to you has been you are welcome to spew your political point of view all over the place ... so long as you do it on the OOB Forum. That’s what it’s for. Stop cluttering football threads with your right wing proselytizing. It’s rude to inflict that on people who just want to discuss football. Or do manners have no place in your version of conservatism? I assume by your comment about donations that you’re a freeloader. Figures.

  10. “But this doesn’t seem like a team that is well coached. ” “but you would think Madison could find acoach that can teach fundamentals.” “You would think they could find a good 1-A coach or something that would come there.” I’m no English major but I’d say those are shots at them. Coach Wilson was a coordinator at an HHC school prior to being name HC at Madison. He’s a young coach, never been a HC, he’s growing as a coach and learning on the fly at being a HC. Madison has socio-economic issues that other schools in the HHC don’t have. Regardless of your shots, I have seen some good things from Coach Wilson. That may not necessarily translate to wins at this point, but wins are not necessarily the sole measuring stick of HS coaches.

  11. Keep trying......I am admittedly ambivalent...I really don’t care. I’m just looking at who has visited LOS these last 20 years. Seems pretty clear. Good luck, though, tying your identity to a city in another state that you don’t even live in. BTW, I’m a proud hillbilly from Southeast Indiana....not Cincinnati.

  12. Not many WIC fans on here but it's week 4!! I've done my own prediction thing so far and I'm currently 18-6 on that. I went 6-0 in week 3. Friday, Sep. 11 Brown County at Indian Creek, 7 pm Cascade at Cloverdale, 7 pm North Putnam at Sullivan, 7 pm Northview at West Vigo, 7 pm Owen Valley at Edgewood Š, 7 pm South Putnam at Greencastle Š, 7 pm Got some big WIC games this week. South Put and Greencastle will play a part in who wins the small school division. West Vigo/Northview is also a big game. Doesn't decide the WIC but a big rivalry game. Cascade or Cloverdale are finally gonna get their first win. Owen Valley/Edgewood is another rivalry game. An OV loss could eliminate them from contention for the big school division. It's Edgewood's first division game. They need a win to keep pace with Northview and Indian Creek.

  15. Sorry coach, I just said the first thing that popped into my head. I should have known better. You ARE in the 'region'. Newton and Jasper Counties are home to the 'OGs' (original gangsters) of region football. Y'all were playing ball before there was a KV (or a Munster or Merrillville or Lake Central) (and as soon as you start up that series with Lowell again, I'll be heading down your way some Friday.!)

  16. This is one of the predecessors to Harrison High School in West Lafayette. Back in 1970, Harrison HS had its first year after merging Klondike High, Battleground High, and East Tipp High. Those three names still remain as feeder middle schools into Harrison ... East Tipp Middle School, Battleground Middle School, and Klondike Middle School.

  17. 2014 Rensselaer Central Bombers. (15-0) ..... Coach Chris Meeks I mean in 2014, we had USA-365.com covering us (still do, I read weekly). NWI Times, Post Tribune, PFR, Region Sports Network that would also do some pub, but NO RSN Top 10 as there was some staunch disagreement amongst staff on the legalities of allowing us to be even considered. 🙂 We were the darlings of the "region" in 2014...... Based on all the non stop news cycle that came our way. Geographically speaking, correct, we are not, however, we are about 12 miles South of Kankakee Valley, only difference is we play our conference games South in Lafayette area, while KV plays North in NCC.

  19. How can you not have a conference champ? It will not be difficult to figure out by years end. Go by win % and head to head losses as tie breaker. Don't think NASA or MIT will be needed to figure it out.

  24. https://www.theamericanconservative.com/dreher/sports-is-for-liberals-conservative-alienation/ ... That is remarkable. Sports used to be a unifying phenomenon in American life, but no more — not since athletes got woke. I can’t find the crosstabs for Gallup’s results about the media and the entertainment industry, but we know from other polls that conservatives feel quite negatively about them. Look what the Madden video game announced yesterday: Colin Kaepernick can’t get a job on a professional football team, but he has been affirmative-actioned into virtual football by the woke capitalists at Madden. Insane. What does it portend for American life to have so many millions of Americans alienated from pop culture institutions (sport, entertainment, media)? Sports, of course, is the big one, because sports never before was politically charged. Now it is. The NFL season is going to be the big one. If conservatives and independents turn off the TV because they don’t want to be preached at by woke football players, it will signal a sea change in American life. I plan on watching the NFL season opener, Texans @ Chiefs, tonight on NBC. Don't know how long I will watch however, depends on how much "woke" BS goes on................................

  28. Most voters don’t see Trump and Biden as mentally fit to be president, new poll shows: https://www.cnbc.com/2020/09/10/2020-election-news-voters-see-trump-biden-as-mentally-unfit-to-be-president.html Yet the vast majority of voters in those states will feel compelled to vote for one or the other. Asinine.

  31. Tell that to Angola. 1 Dekalb player tested positive after playing in that game and 46 Angola players were put in quarantine (no idea how 1 guy was in close contact with 46 opposing players but they did it.... referenced game tapes). Schools will do whatever the co health dept says to avoid liability. I expect a handful of schools will see their season end in the playoffs due to covid.

  32. Over a 10-year period on more expensive than maintaining a grass field from everything I've heard. And the fact smaller schools can now justify continues to prove that point. The up front cost is much more so you have to be able to do that, but the long term savings offsets it. The replacement cost when the first turf wears out (seems to be 9-10 years) is less while the ongoing cost of maintaining a grass field doesn't change so the ROI is probably even better for future iterations.

  35. It’s not quite that straightforward. Every private school receives governmental support in some way. Whether it’s busing, vouchers, police and fire protection, infrastructure, etc. The question is where to draw the line. This case, and others like the Montana case decided by SCOTUS this Summer, point out the tension between the First Amendment’s “Establishment” and “Free Exercise” clauses.

  36. I am surprised to see that DeLaney has not mentioned (at least based on the article she did not) that the school receives tax dollars and should not be allowed to discriminate based on that.

  37. With regard to the Sagarin Ratings, for whatever reason, being in an island conference hurts their scores. If the same thing happens next year, Dwenger and Carroll will be in the Top 10 next week after an adjustment is made. Fact: Dwenger is Top 4 in 5a and Top 10 overall. Fact: Carroll is Top 10 in 5a

  44. This is typical of every time we upgrade the forum software. The community adjusts. I have to use Facebook at work and am not a fan of the new design... lots of things are hidden which used to be easily accessible. To the people doubting the security: DK and 77Jimmie each have 25+ years in the tech industry (hardware and software). I know times the forum has been under DoS attacks (no threat to the user, just makes loading the site impossible) and spam bots registering accounts from third-world countries. This isn't their first rodeo. TGD, thanks to a lot of people but most of all the late Coach Tim Adams, has survived because of the community. Did the updates thread get shorter? Yes, but we have the largest IN HS football Twitter account to make up for it. Whenever the server goes down we have Facebook to let users know when the forum will be back. Just like a good football program, you adapt with the times -- even if that means Bill Belichik explaining much of the "new" offenses in the NFL are just variations of the Wing-T series. So after 22 years, TGD remains and will endure and adapt.
