  1. All: Just want to give a shout out to the Gridiron Digest staff for all their had work and for the opportunity for us to continue to talk about high school football in Indiana! I do not work for GID. I have renewed my membership with a donation to help support the cause. Would you please consider making a donation today? There are bills to pay and the donation seems a bit down this year. Appreciate all you guys at GID! Keep up the great work! as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007

  2. Agreed, this is a stellar week for close games. I’ll go Courier & Press style and pick scores. Ok I'm serious with the scores, but not the write-ups. Harrison 7 Central 8 - Central wins on a two point conversion (Jacob Tenbarge to Jamontre Johnson) with 52 seconds left. Harrison takes the ensuing kickoff to the Central 5 yard line. Harrison QB then inexplicably takes a knee to preserve the narrow one-point loss. MD 14 Bosse 27 - Coach Mullen rebuffs coach Goebel's halftime offer to trade his entire Sophomore class for Elijah Wagner. Wagner responds with a boffo second half performance Castle 28 Jasper 30 - Coach Lewis sets school record for most running plays in a game by instructing his team to fair-catch all punts and kickoffs. Vincennes 17 North 26 - North gambles twice on offense by running a reverse and a halfback pass. In the same game. Huskies survive this offensive devilry and fend off the Xander Hunt-less Alices. Memorial 7 Reitz 24 - Keifer Sanderson, not to be outdone by Matt Gay, kicks eight field goals for the win. Panthers achieve their preferred score in close games.

  3. Are you a High School dropout with a few more years of eligibility? Still working on that GED? Don't go to Honda, come be a Pirate! We will be holding tryouts (Madden Tournament) in the Electronics Department at Walmart this Thursday from 6:00-8:00. If you're between the ages of 9 and 22, don't have any life threatening health conditions or federal warrants, and can hold a helmet up, come give it a try (Don't worry, errybody gon make it). *Must be able to endure severe physical punishment and humiliation. **No drug screen required.

  7. Heard a little rumor this morning coming out of Title (Stink) Town. Coach K when asked by the school newspaper to comment on his pregame routines, “Me and Coach Manford start the day with 11 raw ostrich eggs. The ostrich is a living velociraptor, & my body runs better with prehistoric alpha predator protein. That's just science. Then Coach Henry gets me right with a quick workout. All glamor muscles. This isn't for function, this is for intimidation. When my biceps are blazing and my body is hopped up on dino protein, I make all coaches make sweet love to their wives with a photo of the opposing team's coach taped on the bed stand, and Steven Segal movies playing on full blast. My theory behind that is, if I can finish while looking at you, I can beat you. Again, science.” A true hero and motivator in Stink Town.

  8. My fire pit is always open, and I’m always down for some ice cold Coca-Colas around the fire. But there are rules: 1) No effing phones, embrace the atmosphere and fellowship. 2) Farts are encouraged because farts are always funny 3) Feel free to embellish any story, so long as it adds to the story. 4) You will be made fun of, you will be laughed at, as will everyone else, don’t be a twatwaffle.

  9. Just be careful. Posting rumors on this site about high school coaches and high school programs is not allowed. This does include one person’s interpretation/perspective of what may have happened. The only exceptions include schedule and conference changes.

  10. Best week of the SIAC season, all the matchups are good and include teams that are right next to each other in the standings/power rankings. Games that could easily go either way and are tough to call. In these tight matchups, I lean more towards the home teams. Harrison at Central - this is a matchup where I'm just taking the home team. Both teams have really struggled and shown little glimpses here and there. I feel like it could be high scoring. I will take the Bears by 1 score. MD at Bosse - it's amazing that we're even at a point where we're considering Bosse beating a Mater Dei team. But here we are, this is the best team Bosse has had in 10 years and obviously not a MD team like we're used to. MD could very well win this but Bosse probably has some more confidence after almost beating Memorial, and they know this is one of their best chances to get a win. I will take the Bulldogs by 2 scores. Castle at Jasper - another matchup where it was decided by who is at home. Jasper is starting to roll but Castle may be motivated to bounce back after falling to 3-3. I'm not sure if Castle can stop the Jasper rushing attack enough to win this. I will take the Wildcats by 2 scores. Vincennes at North - I think if Vincennes had Hunt they could win this game and possibly finish 8-1. They showed they can still put up points without him but will struggle against a stout North defense. I think North takes care of business at home and moves closer to their best regular season since 2007. I will take the Huskies by 2 scores. Memorial at Reitz - GAME OF THE WEEK! Well, at least by records and ranking. Unfortunately, the Tigers are missing some key players and the Panthers have gotten healthy. Ironically, this game may be the least close game out of all. But who knows. The Tigers will hang tough and this game is probably for the conference title, so they won't go down easily. Their defense is good enough to give their offense chances. But will they be able to score? I think the Reitz DL and LBs will cause them some trouble. Should be a Bowl full of people and a great atmosphere, gotta love it. I will take the Panthers by 3 scores.

  13. With conference races heating up and there being clear signs of the rich staying rich and the weak staying weak, I figured I'd drop another re-alignment thread for Fort Wayne. I know the SAC just re-aligned but there is also a lot of confusion and some disparity with that. So, for fun, this is my idea. Conference A Conference B ACAC NECC (big) NECC (small) Carroll Bishop Dwenger Norwell Concordia Busco Homestead Leo Heritage Dekalb Eastside Snider New Haven Woodlan Garrett Central Noble Warsaw East Noble Adams Central Angola Fremont Northside Bishop Luers Belmont West Noble Prairie Heights Northrop Wayne Blufton Lakeland Blackhawk Christian Huntington North Columbia City South Adams Fairfield Southern Wells Southside Jay County I know this doesn't make every conference strong top to bottom but I also think this line up would also work well with the other money sport (basketball). Purposely left Conference a with 7 teams to allow for 3 out of conference games against top teams from other parts of the state/state. I think this strengthens the ACAC considerably and creates probably the toughest 4A conference in the state (Conference B). Also keeps a version of the NECC that adds some strength and puts Blackhawk in a conference that they can grow into as they build the program.

  19. I think it just comes back to what they’ve done so far this decade and how they’ve lost games a lot of people thought they’d win. I remember you and a lot of people saying they’d be sectional champs in 2020 only to get upset by Jeffersonville in the championship game. That shocked a lot of people, especially considering Floyd Central had beaten them by 35 and by 28 earlier in the year. In 2021, after East’s HHC win streak had ended at the hands of Seymour and the home winning streak ended two weeks later against New Albany, you and a lot of people predicted Floyd Central would be the next team to avenge nearly two decades of defeats. Instead, East won by 14. This was three weeks after Floyd Central had surprisingly lost to a Silver Creek team that had lost a lot of experience from the prior year’s 9-1 team. Then, last year, you and a lot of folks had Floyd Central winning the HHC. Instead, they opened HHC play with a loss to Seymour. Two weeks later, Floyd Central beat an East team that had beaten Seymour. Now the Highlanders were in position to clinch at least a share of an HHC title. Instead, they dropped their next two against teams they were favored to beat. BNL knocked them off and then Jennings County pulled a major upset and beat them. So that’s why folks like me and @Impartial_Observer are a little hesitant with your Highlanders. It’s nothing personal. Just feels like we’ve been let down by expectations. Personally, I think this year’s team is different but we will find out on Friday night and beyond.

  20. My old stomping grounds....81 Lancer grad. Our home field was the old Cincy State College stadium as we didn't have a home field, just a pasture to hold practices. We weren't very good back then, though we usually got thrashed by the other GCL teams we seemed to always beat Colerain. Still remember Coach Heidorn and Coach Nienabor like it was yesterday.

  29. IMO, Minshew didn't get enough credit for managing the game quite nicely. He was overshadowed by the defense and the special teams/FG team, especially Matt Gay's record performance. And don't forget the Colts played without center Ryan Kelly too.

  30. Boring week in the EIAC. 🥱 Stinktown rolls the FBTL's in the battle of Tigers vs Lions. I'm sure the Tiggers have a statement to make this week, and they outmatch steweytown in every facet of the game. No chart topping hits this week, FBTL will be begging for the fat lady to take the microphone and end it. The Bad Boyz do what they do against Sparty and continue to get lots of reps for those youngsters. No scores will be ran up, but it will be all business from start to finish. Two more weeks to prepare for games that matter. Pups do whatever they want against Little Ralphie and his diminished band of Pirates. There's very little hope for Hondatown to get better in terms of their record, at this point it's more about holding it all together. Great week for Casketnation get better and hopefully put the "Z" back into what started as the pupZ. But my gut tells me it will be all about the Hunchback connecting deep downfield with big 20 to throw up lots of points. I think the Mardi Gras Invaders will get right this week and put up a big win against Jojo's. Look for Homie to have his boy slingin dimes on Friday against a subpar secondary. This is the last home game of the year for KFI, so look for a HUGE pregame show. Bourbon, Tacos, and Mardi Gras beads for everyone! I hear Coach Boom may even arrive in a new golf cart with 20" wheels and chrome balls hanging from the rear bumper.

  32. WL is the only “big school” that Tipton has played so far but yes they are struggling this year. Youth mixed with an incredible amount of injuries is a bad combination. Should continue to improve and get back to normal in the next few years. Also Tipton will still play 3 of the 5 big schools next year. Might as well add the other 2 and get rid of South Adams and whoever in the world they’ll have to play week 6 next year.

  34. The Hoosier isn't the only conference that utilizes the forward pass. I think the Bison would be accepted just fine. Would the Bison want to go to a conference where they don't get whipped every week? Delphi lost to BC 21-12 and Delphi is mid-pack HHC. Dem Bizun need a change of scenery.

  35. I gotta admit....I am a little confused. You have articulated over and over your thoughts about Carmel refusing to play CG and motives behind it. You have also targeted other schools repeatedly with the same message. But that is ok? Couldn't I use the same logic you are voicing above to you? If you feel compelled to step into the hall monitor role to challenge the posts of others, perhaps first take your own medicine......just sayin'

  42. Helping the runner is actually a Point of Emphasis this year. Translation: “It’s happening and it’s not being called. Call it!” Another reason is the difference in rules at the different levels. NFHS Rules simply provide “An offensive player shall not push, pull or lift the runner to assist his forward progress.” So, yes, you can push the pile. But you can’t push the runner.

  43. Drop Luers to small conference and eliminate Blackhawk and Busco. Eliminate Blackhawk because it could be years before they are competitive. Eliminate Busco since Woodlan and Heritage are closer to Fort Wayne. Splitting hairs on that one. Luers doesn't need to be in the big division. They are 4-34 historically against Snider. If the knights want to continue rumbling with the big guys, they can schedule whoever they want for their three out of division games. Seven in each division allows three out of division games. Can do crossover (Dwenger vs Luers) or out of conference. With fourteen teams in the SAC, I think we can crown two champions. It's just not a level playing field otherwise. There's a 70% chance that Snider, Carroll, or Homestead win the SAC. Dwenger gets a 20% chance. A champion from any of the other schools sits at 10%. Two champions is fair.

  44. Facebook post from someone with direct knowledge of this game..... It’s disgusting to hear what Greencastle did to Brown County in Varsity 🏈 last Friday. I taught at Greencastle & it’s a great town filled with wonderful people. But this is hard to justify…. -Went for 2 pt conversion up 34-0 in 2nd quarter -Onside kick to get another possession up 36-0 w/ 9:00 left in 2Q -Went for 2 pt conversion up 47-0 -Up 63-0 at Half and starters still playing to start 3Q and they PASS for a TD -Up 70-0 and they PASS for another TD! This is not why school records are made. You want to break a school record? Do it in a competitive game. You don’t embarrass people when they’re down. This has no place in high school athletics. DO BETTER GREENCASTLE!!!!
