  1. Well, that was one of the craziest high school football games I’ve seen!!! I was fortunate enough to sit by GS’s statisticians (not enough room in the press box for them). Two of the nicest guys and great knowledge of all sports in southern IN. Hats off to Gibson Southern on the win. Very classy program, hard nosed kids. Our kids competed and left everything out on the field. After the game ended, the teams joined together in prayer led by a GS player...and the my friends is what it’s ALL ABOUT!! Good luck to the Titans the rest of the tournament.

  2. Booooo get out of here last year people cried about GS praying after games even though it was voluntary and the complaint was of a non paid coach or what not participating. GS players and fans told everyone they were still going to pray. They were just going to make sure it followed all the rules. it’s all voluntary. Nobody is made to feel left out. Y’all just want something to complain about.

  3. We got throttled by a more physically dominant team. No more no less. They wanted it more and took it. Eurit is a great player, but if you ask me the most important player on Cass is #30 Humphrey. We couldn’t block him at LB and he was dominant as a blocker at TE. He was a man among boys last night. Full credit to Cass and hopefully it opened some eyes for us of what it will take to be successful next year.

  4. Really not a need to question Mr. Kiser's abilities ... nor Mr. Bell's. I only know of Mr. Kiser what I've been told by those who know him and from what I gathered from a couple of very brief interactions with the young man at LCC-Pioneer games, but I think he'd probably be the first one to tell you that his Mr. Football title was as much a team title as an individual title. He'd probably tell you that he's a product of his coaches, his teammates, his parents, and even his competitors and, without them, he wouldn't be the player that he is. He strikes me as a young man would give up 10 Mr. Football titles for one blue ring for his team, even as a back-up QB, as long as he got to help the team. He strikes me as a young man who's likely to forget his own helmet on the field making sure that his fellow players didn't forget theirs. I enjoyed watching him play and what his team could do because of him and also because of what he could do because of his team. In the end, regardless of the team he plays for, I think he's a fine young man ... and that will be true for him long after he's stopped playing the game of football.

  5. Donoven McKinney (Sullivan #8) and his family need everyone's prayers. Donoven suffered a movement/spinal cord injury during last night's game. Lot's of concern locally for this kid. The more prayers, the better.

  9. just want to add only this little tidbit.... LCC was playing in 2a with 2 D1 guys Cronk and Anthrop, who have been very productive B10 players in their careers and a couple other really good high school players that may have went on to play college ball, not sure. They were not you typical 1a team playing in 2a due to success factor. When you have D1 dudes in 1a or 2a you are going to win games, then you surround them with more than capable quality HS football players, you are going to win championships. That was Pioneer last few years and that was LCC in the Oshea era.

  11. I think that's just us Catholics ... last week a couple of parishioners were outside the confessional betting a round of drinks on whose list of sins would draw the bigger penance from the priest. In case you were wondering, I won. 😄

  12. And drinking Jobu's rum before last night's game didn't help matters either.

  13. You don't play THAT Lewis Cass team each year. Can't have it both ways by saying that THAT Pioneer team didn't lose but you play that Lewis Cass team every year.

  15. Not sure what you mean by that. I do know there are people who believe in those situations you should keep your flag in your pocket and “let the players decide it.” The people who think that way are not officials, I can assure you. You call the last play of the game the same way as the first.

  16. The Luers contingent (for whatever reason it's just Luers) have making this claim that Snider's a magnet school for football and draws all the best athletes. If that were truly the case, wouldn't Snider win the SAC every year? They have 3 or 4 SAC championships over the last 10 years. There are lots of athletes in Fort Wayne and they are actually spread out through the schools quite evenly. Snider is good every year because of good coaching, plain and simple. Open enrollment is a real thing, but it's not abused the way some on here make it out to be. It's easier to make excuses and throw accusations at other programs rather than looking within your own program and trying to figure out what can be done to make it better..............human nature unfortunately.

  19. Tua is obviously a favorite....Justin fields, Jalen hurts, Joe burrow, Jonathan Taylor..... well Jonathan Taylor until today lol all are probably worthy but the best player in CFB right now is Chase Young...hands down. 4 sacks today against my precious badgers...13.5 on the year. Man is an animal time to make the heisman about the best player. Chase Young is the best player right now

  22. That is what separates average crews from really good or great crews. Many crews don't spend the time attending clinics and meetings where these things are discussed so they aren't aware of it. Some crews may hear it, but it's hard to implement. When I watch HS games online or TV I see this kind of thing called a hold way too often. I see even less restriction called a foul. It helps understand why we have coaches screaming for holding because they are used to past crews calling it. If your crew isn't aware of this philosophy I strongly suggest you find a mentor or try to attend the IFOA clinic in the summer.

  23. Yes. Heightened emotions. It got pretty ugly after that TD between family and fans. But the kid is ok.

  25. Becoming bowl eligible after just 8 games is a big deal for the Hoosiers and will do wonders on the recruiting trail this year for Allen. Win the bowl game this year and it will do wonders for recruiting the next couple of years. There is something going on in Bloomington! Holy crap the defense STILL needs to get more consistent. That first quarter was really bad. I felt as though Nebraska was going to run away with the game early on. Ramsey is a robo quarterback. Dude is super accurate and doesn't make mistakes even when plays break down. He's smart enough to throw the ball away and not force anything, when nothing is there and also is good at scrambling. I get Penix is the starter, but having Ramsey in your back pocket is a huge bonus! Glad for the Hoosiers he decided to stay and not transfer. Allen had good things to say about him after the game.

  29. The proper technique is to see the potential hold and then look at the QB. If the ball is gone, or he’s in his throwing motion, hold the flag. I know it’s a hard concept for non-officials to get their heads around. But that’s why we get paid the big bucks. 😆

  30. Gary had about 17 to 19 kids. They have 2 coaches and a couple dads help out. They had 1 fan there and it was the bus driver. Was told they have 2 home games a year and it's usually at Gary West. I did not sit on Roosevelt's side but a group of middle schoolers from Winamac did. I was able to shake the coaches and players hands and told them they played with a lot of heart and a lot of pride.

  31. From the one angle, it does appear o be a pick play. What is hard to tell though is that the other defender is really close too. Did they run into each other???? There is another angle from a phone that is not really clear, but it does look more like the receiver not only contacted him, but maybe a blindside hit?

  34. Luers has not always been a "poor school" no. Yes there are quite a few low income families there. There's also some very well off families.

  36. Should be a great game btwn two very good football teams. Good luck to both teams for a well played and injury free game! Picking up from a previous thread about the Bowl, LS will get to see the Bowl up close & personal for the first time, if I am not mistaken. Here are a couple of suggestions for those LS fans who really want to be able to see the game. While the visiting bleachers are larger than usual, viewing the game from there is limited due to team typically standing along the sidelines btwn the 40 yd lines. This and the low risers of the visiting bleachers will make it difficult to see much of the action on near-side of the field up to about where the yard markers are painted. (see image below) An alternate area to consider for better viewing would be "the curve". This section is located in the South end of the field, closest to the river. You will get a much better view of the game - at least in my opinion - than just about anywhere on visitor's bleachers. mi dos centavos.

  38. When fans go around running their mouths about how they would dominate higher levels that they never have to compete at, then once they do they fail miserably, what do you expect? When fans go around making claims that they know they'll never have to prove, that's pretty disrespectful I think. Just because those claims disappeared with the board after last season doesn't mean everyone forgot.

  39. To me it isnt questionable. I have no dog in the fight. I am just stating what I see. The last play of the game shouldn't dictate a flag being thrown. I also think the "pick" was done a little more aggresive than planned due to the implications of the play.

  40. I will admit I didn't see a running clock coming in this game. No match physically or "team speed". Touchdown on first play from scrimmage for the Kings!

  42. Eastbrook's can be seen from the locker room. It's tough to see but not that hard. Mississinewa actually had a couple of injured players and the game was still close and competitive. Plus when these two play the intensity is unreal. It's like IU/Purdue games records can be thrown out as the rivalry is so big. The rivalry trickles all the way down to the youth teams. The Mississinewa youth program played in a football tournament at Eastbrook and received shirts that said Eastbrook on them. During the summer conditioning program kids wore the shirts and were told to turn them wrong side out so Eastbrook could not be seen. Eastbrook is good year in and year out even in a down year they find a way to win. Mississinewa has let downs on both sides of the ball. They also run a very complex offense that is sometimes unpredictable and other times very predictable. Using 3 QB's has created a different look. This week will tell if Mississinewa is in for a long run. Either way the winner of this game has to go thru a very good and fast Marion team to win the Sectional.

  44. Well as far as 2A north goes I'll take Pioneer. I understand that they lost a great class but that program and coaching is absolutely outstanding.

  45. Bremen is coming off of a sectional championship. Cass hasn't done anything in the tournament for a few years now. Pioneer is the class of sectional 34 with Bremen a close second. Rochester and Delphi have region all stars all over their roster and Manchester has skilled guys everywhere. LaVille could surprise some people also. This is 4-5 team race with Cass on the outside looking in.
