If GS would go 1-3 to start the year, I dont think many people who actually know football will sit back and say, maybe they arent very good this season. Big time difference in 5A and 6A football than 3A. Kudos to them for playing the schedule they do. Iron sharpens iron, and i'm sure GS will know ALOT more about themselves after 4 weeks than the majority of of teams.

This is just more clueless talk from you... Ben Davis was in the SEMI-STATE LAST YEAR! They were 1 TD away from going back to LOS and playing a team they BEAT in the regular season. BD is about an ENTIRE MONTH behind Brownsburg in terms of time in the weight room and on the practice field. They're probably going to get walloped again this Friday, but sadly for the Giants, they're struggling due to COVID, not because the program is in trouble. Their last 6 years prior to this include 4 Semi-State appearances and 2 State Championships. Hardly signs of a program that is struggling. Brownsburg on the other hand, when was the last time they made a Semi-State? 1985? When was the last time they won a Sectional? 2009? Finally, Brownsburg returned 17 starters from last years team. Next year when the playing field is leveled, we'll see who comes out on top. My money is on BD.

The lack of college football helps a little with officials but not significant. There are approximately 800 licensed high school officials needed on a regular Friday night. Most of the D3 officials in Indiana also work high school games Friday night so there is minimal impact there. The HCAC has 42 officials and 25-30 of them also work Indiana HS football. There are probably about 10-12 D2 college and 12-15 D1 college officials and some of them are working HS this year which helps. The number of cancellations though is the biggest help with the shortage. A few crews and individual officials chose not to work, but there are still several crews sitting out each week.

There is proof that asymptomatic carriers that go into large groups are the super spreaders that lead to outbreaks. The CDC by not testing all individuals that have a close contact are going against what epidemiologists have been saying all along. This is a political move because the federal government dropped the ball on testing and by rushing a reopening of the country when they didn't meet the requirements of re-opening. We can beat this and have football but we have only played one week and if we pretend that this isn't real we will pay for our arrogance.

I think after one week it is hard to determine who will end up where. Besides the schedule and injuries there is another factor. What is a team ends up with positive virus cases and shuts down or loses key members for 2 weeks. There are so many intangible things this year one never knows. But I will say this by 2 weeks after Labor Day we should have a good sense of the virus and where teams are heading

Agree with you on all points. But when looking at the Jimtown from the start of them joining conference and there being a North and South they have been 2nd or 3rd almost every year. Yes there was a Washington year and a Bremen year at top, but after NP and Marian there was always Jimtown lurking. But your correct new staff, new kids so who knows. Look forward to seeing how it plays out.

Does it? New Prairie and Marian are who the south traditionally ran through, they got bumped up, now its a wide open field. Jimtown is Jimtown, no doubt about it, but they lost a ton, and have a new coach in place, a lot of question marks in Baugo Township.

Stink, I have enjoyed reading your comments over the years! Always entertaining. Looking forward to this week's Trojan vs. Trojan matchup. As much as I love my Catholic Trojans, I would not be surprised to see EC win this convincingly. I watched most of the Lawrenceburg game and was very impressed with both teams! EC looks like a college team with the size they have up front! Very physical football team - really enjoy how they play the game. Chatard lost a bunch of experience to graduation, and after the first game, it's apparent that they are feeling the shortened summer as much as anyone. I have no doubt Coach Doyle, who is an amazing coach and an even better man, will have them firing on all cylinders come playoffs. But for this week, I think the size and experience of the Public Trojans is too much for my Catholic Trojans - I'll take EC 28-14. Hope I'm wrong but will take a competitive, injury free game regardless. Safe travels for those EC fans making the trip up! Hope you enjoy our new stadium - much improved over the facilities you saw the last time these two great programs faced off!

The picture was taken around 8/14/2020. The maintenance staff has done a pretty good job overall keeping up with it. What you cant see in the picture is the trail of dead grass spots where it is bare dirt from mole runs all along the visitor sideline. Losing in the first round of sectionals last year really helped the maintenance staff get a head start on the field this off season 🙂

Every game this season will be played "at risk". I will say, it is beyond ludicrous for teams to be rolling around on each other, sweating, spitting, bleeding...................but they wave at each other after the game because heaven forbid they high five. That was hysterical at the end of the Sheridan/WeBo game.

I think the Linton - Sullivan rivalry is the "oldest" rivalry in the the state but not as far as number of games played. The rivalry is second in that category. The first matchup between the two neighboring schools was in 1904. they missed nine years from 1911 to 1920, '21, and '23 to '25. This year marks the 95th consecutive game beginning with 1926. This year brings the total number of games between the rivals to 104 and, believe it or not, the series stands at Linton 51 - Sullivan 51 and two ties. GO MINERS !!! I've seen most all of the games in the last 80 years. I'll be watching on the TV this time. Biggest thrill. 22 -0 win at Sportland field at Sullivan in 1945 after a 13 game losing streak to the Arrows. Oh, yes. Until the playoff system started, the game was an annual Armistice day (now Veterans day) afternoon game on November 11 to close the season.

Norwell 42, Jay County 0 - Won't be tested until week 3 (Leo) - Defense is a beast Warsaw 42, Huntington North 35 - shocker of the night? HN hung tough.

I saw the first half of this game and then switched over to Guerin v McCutcheon... what happened Braves? You had the game under control? Both teams looked pretty darn good. Good gritty game. No scoring in the second half... but McCutcheon intercepted with a couple of minutes to go and marched down with a threat to score. Guerin was able to hang on for the W. I don't think McCutcheon is in the same realm as Chatard or Brebeuf, but it was positive to see Guerin running (on offense) and standing tight (on defense) against a comparatively big, physical team. Guerin QB only threw for 56 yards, but there were some really smart, well thrown balls in there at key times. Guerin RB Jagger Albert (first name sounds like a beverage you consumed once-upon-a-time in a college bar and with much regret) is a solid back and was picking up 4 yards per carry running Coach Dilley's favorite plays. I'm there with you brother... just happy to have something to watch on Friday nights. Even when football is bad, it's good. I just hope it lasts.

By the way clown have you heard if the Tiger player that got ran over by that Truck for a 52yd TD up the middle is ok? See he didn’t mention that part of the game either 4th quarter was pretty much subs let the clock run!

For #2, I believe BD has only been lifting since last week, while Brownsburg was able to get into the weightroom their first week back in July.....wonder if that could have played a part in the lopsided outcome of the game.

A weak argument. Not all non-government schools are affiliated with a religious institution, you do realize that? And as long as government doesn't deem to withhold taxpayer dollars from one or more specific religious institutions (i.e. "We the government will only provide tax dollars to Jewish schools, the rest can pound sand.") then it shouldn't fall a foul of the establishment clause. Just admit it Dante. You and other government education zealots don't want the status quo upset because it could mean less money in your pocket down the road.

I think CN is very very good this year. I don’t see East winning this game.. I see North by 14-17.... Maybe East cleans it up and plays a good game, but I think North is the better team.. Every other pick I agree with you @Fkfootball

So in K-12 education my tax dollars should only go to educate those children in my community that attend traditional government schools. What is the logic behind that? Shouldn't I as a taxpayer and member of the community be primarily concerned that these children are receiving a quality education regardless of the venue?
