Game of the year.....until next week right? Lawrence North has some phenomenal individual talent, namely McCulley and Cooper, but this game will be competitive for a quarter.3 points

Not a chance in hell a coach would say winning a conference title is more satisfying than a state title. Delusional.2 points

The unintended consequences of seeding would make the first round of the playoffs redundant to the point where the next logical step is a qualifier. The IHSAA doesn't want that. If the sectionals were seeded appropriately, 85-90% of the opening round games statewide would result in 50-60 point blowouts. That is the definition of redundant. It's unnecessary and doesn't do anybody any good. The only way the IHSAA today can justify why a team that has gone 0-9 in the regular season surrendering 500+ points is allowed to play again is because of the all-in, blind draw. There's an off-chance that an 0-9 team meets another 0-9 team and a blowout is avoided. If you seeded the sectionals, the next and only logical move would be to eliminate the field in half after the end of the regular season. The IHSAA isn't ready for that.2 points

Sadly it sounds like they are... but the players have been "contact traced" out to quarantine. Never before have we tested people with NO symptoms and quarantined completely healthy individuals just IN CASE. But I digress...2 points

They named a school in your honor? It's a question, Muda, he can answer in the negative.2 points

Edwards has had a great year. He’s an accurate passer who can throw the deep ball very well but is also a weapon with his legs. Keeping him healthy is key if we are to make a run. Him getting hurt last year killed us. Lyons unfortunately is out for football and basketball season. Small chance he’s back for baseball. Heart breaks for the kid. Tough to replace an All-State kid but have been impressed with kids who have stepped up. Sophomore Eli Carter has been outstanding filling in at RB. Defensively we have missed him more. Can’t overlook anyone but from a fan’s perspective I am looking forward to the battle with Eastbrook. Should be a dandy!2 points

Hey, it happens. I once threw an incompletion to stop the clock as the half was winding down and we were on the 3 yd. line. Oops! It was 4th & 1. Of course, I was a freshman in high school at the time.2 points

I would add the qualifiers of best game so far, and best game on paper. I would think that next week CG vs Cathedral will be an awesome game with an even larger assortment of talent than this one. No doubt LN is good and has some dudes, especially on offense, but that CG defense is an absolute monster to deal with. I would doubt this game is very close.2 points

If there ever was an agreement in the past, which I don't ever remember, there won't be one for this game. @tango, may be on to something though. But, I've also heard an argument on here from from someone that a sloppy field favors a pass heavy offense. Either way, this game will be played on the good ole natural grass! I just hope we can see an HH team fully healthy and COVID quarantine free for once.2 points

I'm for seeding and an all-in format to fully disclose. I think the best method would be to seed the top 4 teams in an 7 to 8 team sectional and top 2 in a 4 to 5 team sectional and then random draw the bottom 3-4 or 2-3.1 point

I'd be a bit more inclusive of Judson if they had managed to score a point on either LaVille or Pioneer since 2016...1 point

Their schedule is extremely weak. That will be their downfall if/when they have to play Eastbrook again. My prediction of that match-up is..... and this is just hypothetical..... Eastbrook - 45 Eastern - 14 Now back to reality. Not to overlook our first round teams but I'm confident Tipton and Eastbrook will meet in round 2. Tipton is much improved and it should make for an interesting game. In the end, I'll take my Panthers by 3 touchdowns.1 point

LN is going to have to hit a couple home runs early or else this will get ugly. CG will assert their will on the ground.1 point

With 5a and 6a having the week of the 23rd off in the tournament, I would bet 1 Gazzillion dollars that neither Center Grove nor Cathedral will be letting off the gas next week. If you want to call this a trap game for CG, then I could buy that, but Coach Moore and his staff will not allow that to happen.1 point
-
Yawn. DT is definitely a middle child. How much antagonism do you need for your mental health, bro? Two trap games tonight w a talented LN offense and a Catholic rival in Brebeuf. Both games should be running clocks, but either could sneak up. Both programs are going guns blazing next week for Indiana royalty. Should be another ESPN Game of the Week between two Top 30 National Programs. I can only speak for Cathedral, but we are searching for a VERY elusive undefeated season with our scheduling.1 point

I wish we would have at least drew Mt. Vernon since our regular season game with them was cancelled. But it’s still better than driving 2 hours.1 point

Everyone is banged up in week 9, that's the nature of the sport. I will bet our posting privileges that there isn't a single starter on either team that sits this game (unless already previously injured) next week. This series has seen everything from shootouts to defensive slug fests to OT thrillers. Far from unmemorable.1 point

For those who haven’t seen it yet, here are the sectional brackets for all eight HHC teams. Initial thoughts: For 6A sectional 8, I’m really glad East drew Franklin Central. This is our last year in 6A and I really wanted to play Franklin Central before moving back down to 5A. East played Franklin Central the first four years East was in existence and lost all four games. The last game was in 1975. For 5A sectional 16, it looks like we’re getting a third Floyd Central vs Jeffersonville matchup. I wonder when the last time is that two teams in the state have met three times in one season. Also, if we’re going by record, this sectional looks like it aligns with how it would’ve been seeded. We’ll know for sure after the week 9 matchup between Jeff and BNL. For 4A sectional 23, this is a perfect example of why I hate the blind draw. You have three of the top ten 4A teams in the state in this sectional (according to the coaches poll) and all three of them are on the same side of the bracket. One of the toughest sectionals in the state and the championship game will likely be a beat down.1 point

You did. Yeah...the old blind draw. I'm sure they were concerned about travel with COVID...yeah that's it!1 point

This nonsense of COVID changes every 15 minutes so who knows. I am sick of this and there is no foreseeable end to it. If we are still dealing with this ridiculousness next year I think I will lose my mind. Game will be at the Jungle.1 point

It's usually fine if already public knowledge and not malicious. Not all rules in life are posted because not all issues are black or white, illegal or legal. We learn through observation and experience what's acceptable in various contexts. ETA: @Bobref could probably explain with more authority about societal rights and wrongs and the theory behind that topic.1 point

There will be no Sagamore Conference Champion. Danville & Lebanon have both missed conference games that won't be made up. There is a Sagamore Conference rule that if not all conference games are played, a conference champion will not be awarded.1 point

Box score from last week shows that Lapel vs Heritage Christian was a 1 score game going into the 4th quarter, but bottom must have fallen out for the Bulldogs in the 4th as they lost 41-19. I think they're just under the top tier in sectional 36. I'd say it's Eastbrook as the favorite and Tipton is barely a step behind them. Lapel/Greentown need some good bounces versus either of them to have a shot. Here's to a good draw for all of them!! Rest of the sectional is onto basketball season...hoping we get one.1 point

I think there are more than a few P/P supports left. That said, the same old arguments year after year got old and only takes a page or two to burn out now days when it comes back up. Perhaps everything that can be said regarding contraction has been said as well, I'm not sure. I think the GID has played a large part this season it helping to coordinate Covid Replacement games....that is a huge value add in my eyes.1 point

Incredibly enough- there are still 5 teams that can finish with 2 losses and be crowned a co-champion- and correct me if I'm wrong- it could finish as a 5-way tie! I'll let the powers above decide how the role uneven numbers of games played will decide the champion, but we have an old-fashioned Ric Flair Hotel Room Roundabout on our hands! Of course- if Warsaw beats NorthWood all the women get sent home early and we are left partying with Bart Curtis. This isn't to say that I would be agaisnt a Bart party, however, I'd rather have a room full of women to choose from than sitting and hearing about the intricacies of the flexbone offense. Odds included this week (for entertainment purposes only, of course) Concord 2-2 @ Northridge 4-1 (-1): Northridge the favorite here, but not by much. Extremely similar scores in games vs. like opponents. Concord stays alive in the conference race if they can win. I would set the over/under at about 23.5 in a VERY physical game. Chaos Theory says take the Minutemen. Harrison (-17.5) @ Goshen 0-3: Here's what I know about Harrison. They have yet to go on a winning or losing streak this year as they have alternated wins and losses each week. This sets them up to be due for a loss! The Redhawks seem to be playing better since their return- they are the only team not coached by Bart Curtis (maybe his party would be fun) to score a touchdown on the Northridge Raiders. AND!!!! Harison's nickname is the Raiders!!! Can fate come together for the 'Hawks? Seems doubtful- but the drive up SR 25/US 31/US 20 can lull the best of us to sleep...Goshen back-door covers late. Warsaw 5-0 (-3) @ NorthWood 2-2: NorthWood is seing the flexbone for the second consecutive week. This should be able to be used as an advantage. However, NorthWood has yet to prove they can score enough to be able to win this game. I'm going to subscribe to the chaos theory, though, and with that letting me believe that NorthWood can cover the spread. Something tells me, though, that NorthWood loses something like 28-24 because they miss four two point conversions. Wawasee 0-5 @ Mishawaka 3-1 (-35.5): This seems like it will be difficult for Wawasee to be competitive. August 28 vs West Noble was a looooooong time ago. Wawsee also in a trap game here because they have a game they can win next week. Mishawaka covers.1 point
