  1. Numerous players on our team have been hit by “close contact” quarantine about 4-5 times this season. (Not to mention the regular injuries.) We have had a cancelled game and opponent changes as late as Wednesday, so this has been a difficult year. Please keep in mind no matter what we are going through, we have an impact on these kids. The tweet below has been the a bright spot for us this season.

  2. Not a big fan of Eastbrook’s schedule. I would love to see the starters playing some full four quarter games prior to the tournament. The team is healthy, but a full game or two would be nice to play before the tournament. JMO. I think this years team is much better than last years team! Better at QB, WR, and the defense is very good.

  3. Frankly, the direction in which the conference model seems to be headed - increasingly “closed” conferences with fewer and fewer non-conference scheduling opportunities - is detrimental to high school football. I would simply do away with the conference format and go to districts by class... with opportunities for some out of district/class games.

  4. DT's only agenda is to stir up controversy and discussion, and he's good at it. He's the Skip Bayless of the GID.

  5. How about let’s not do that. I ain’t playing “Survivor”....sorry. And I don’t want to see ANYBODY leave. Everybody needs to chill....and grow more than a micron thickness of skin.

  6. Or you could say "the best in 6A and the best in the GCL south".

  7. How can u take Delta with a 35-0 loss in their record to another 4a? I know they took Eastbrook behind the wood shed but still.

  9. We have a young man, who has never played orgainzied ball before, he is a SR, he started playing JV games this year for us, then got caught up to speed on the game and what we do, and worked is way onto our special teams and has filled in at times during Varsity games. I would reckon that without him playing JV at all, he would not have been able to make those strides to get ready for Friday nights.

  10. Warren Central quarantined 40 players and their head coach in August off of one positive test and another showing symptoms (but eventually tested negative). I think they are taking this more seriously than most.

  11. The decision whether to devote resources to provide those sorts of experiences for student athletes should be made at the local level, not in Indianapolis.

  13. I was told it was indeed fewest points allowed that broke the tie. I know a few years ago it was point differential among the tying teams. That made more sense in opinion. At this point, it’s all about getting ready for the postseason anyways so who cares who you play.

  14. So, if 6 players were in quarantine and the rest of the team was negative, they why could they have not played? Unless it was who was in quarantine and not the #.

  15. "Buddy" is kind of strong term at this point, but hearing from other individuals who do not automatically subscribe to the group-think that is endemic on the GID is refreshing.

  17. And the last line of course just shows how little you actually know. Lets not forget, if not for those that couldn't CUT IT in the non military world, you wouldn't have the liberties to spout the crap you are spouting now out of you suck hole. You DISGUST ME. Dont bother responding.

  18. The return to play rule requires 4 or 6 practices to be completed prior to return to play depending if U missed > than 5 or 10 straight practices. The purpose is to protect players who have been INJURED or are SICK from returning too quickly. Quarantine is neither. All the IHSAA had to do was to allow virtual practices to count. A player under 14 day Quarantine could attend 2 virtual practices with a coach or trainer while under quarantine and save games for players across the state. Easy, sensible approach to our new environment. Superintendents have reached out to IHSAA for leniency / virtual practices and we’re shot down. IHSAA got 90% of this season right... wish they would’ve hit a home run and addressed this gap by amending the rtp rule.

  19. They did the same thing with Nick Martin who was headed to Kentucky.

  20. The schedule is what it is. Until the other teams in the CIC get better, Eastbrook will continue to dominate. Are they better than last year? If they win a state championship, then I would say yes. Winning breeds winning. The program that Coach Adamson has developed is team focused. These kids expect to win year in and year out.

  21. We have but my comment was to pile on to what Nowlin said. We knew Heights vs WL but were unsure for a while about the other matchups. I meant it as, it doesn’t matter if you’re playing LCC, Rensselaer, or Twin Lakes. It’s all about getting ready for the tournament.

  22. As an Andrean fan, I hope they don’t look at it this way. I’ll take RC over Wheeler though, saw Wheeler get ran over by a solid Hanover Central team last week and was rather unimpressed. Haven’t seen RC at all this year but they’re usually disciplined and physical. Our games with them are usually pretty competitive.

  23. Grew up watching the Big Red Machine and going to Riverfront when we could afford it. In the off season from, I think ‘69-71, the Reds had a traveling basketball team that played at local high schools against area “All-Star” teams composed of graduated players from that high school. I’ll never forget when they played at my old high school (Brookville) back when I was 9 or 10. D@mn, Seaver and Morgan dying the same year. Rose is almost 80....older than my Mom. Can’t believe these guys are disappearing.

  24. Anticipating the week 8 poll to come out on Wednesday and @captainobvious to once again be disappointed 😂. Eastbrook #1 in the state of Indiana regardless of class or he's not happy!

  26. What do you do with the 12th grade student, probably a so-so athlete at best, who decides to play football for the first time? This may even be the first time this young man has decided to try extracurricular athletics. Is he quietly persuaded to quit the team during summer workouts and practices? Does he ride the pine on the varsity squad for the entire season? Or is he allowed to play in junior varsity games?

  27. Without having to earn your way into the playoffs, you still have up to a 9 game exhibition season. You’ve just changed the order.

  28. Kyren Williams is having a huge breakout season. Chris Tyree has been pretty good as well. Irish running game is as good as it gets. That o-line is massive and the holes they open up are even bigger. Might be the best o-line in college football. Michael Mayer is just a freshman and he's gonna be a star. Could be the next great ND tight end in the NFL. I'm excited to see the game against Clemson in a few weeks. ND being at home is a big advantage.

  29. The best sport of football, may just be the Unified Flag Football. I think most of us should watch them play and realize what the game is all about. Maybe we can take some of that over to contact football. Yes, we like to see competitiveness in contact football, but we need some of the humility, grace, & sportsmanship from Unified.

  32. The Evansville newspaper said that the game was moved up to Thursday due to no officials being available on Friday. I assume they received a waiver for IHSAA by-law 54.3-1

  33. I believe there was a lot of politicking. Based on how LCC is handling COVID Tipton may want to line up a backup opponent. The LCC Volleyball team pulled out of the state tournament over the weekend.

  38. NN vs Wheeler by far the most exciting matchup in week 1. I will take my Bombers to make the finals. Take our shot at the 59ers. But I haven't picked against the Bombers in 17 years, this year will be no different. 😄

  39. We hear the same thing about teachers all of the time. When teachers transition to public life, they are often the first hired. They are often the first called and stick on juries. The list goes on and on. It's male genders like him that make me sick in the stands. Sure, I call out the coach for not seeing that Eastside is going to throw deep because there isn't anyone back there....:)..., but I'm not going to be a male member about kids wanting to enjoy their high school days, nor pretending I now about military members (other than my dad, uncle (lifetime), grandpa (lifetime) and what I hear about teachers in a similar vein.

  40. Kids lives are the big picture. Football is ultimately just a game. Developing quality human beings is the ultimate goal, not winning or losing. They're not professionals.

  41. You’re right it is for underdeveloped players, but again, we’re about developing student athletes for life and giving them outlets to escape from the real world. In some school districts, home life might be a disaster and football (or any extra-curricular activity) could be what keeps them from being on the streets or in an abusive home situation. It’s not our place to tell that kid they can’t play the sport they love and to “go join show choir.” Thankfully DT isn’t a Coach, otherwise we’d only have 280 schools playing, and if you suck for too long, you’re gone. High school is the last opportunity for these young adults to enjoy organized sports, and if they want to play JV, then are you kidding me that we should deny them that opportunity? Get out of here with that nonsense! Never in my world, but I get it, most people on this board have lived a privileged life and I’m not mad at you, whereas I’ve coached kids living in their parents car in the past. They NEED US!!! They NEED ACTIVITIES!!!

  49. IMO, this is one of the most over-looked issues, esp. at Semi-State level in 1A, 2A, et al where one team can be forced to travel several hours to play. There are also complications that arise from the tradition of allowing Visiting team to pick game day/night while Home teams typically set start times. There has been a bit of gamesmanship in this regard over the years. Hopefully sites could be found that are reasonably travel neutral and have more equitable seating arrangements than typical high school fields provide, particularly on the Visitor's side. Some sites bring in extra seating but these are usually poor set ups. Turf should be a requirement too, to cope with potential weather issues.
