You are still on this? Heck even the link you have given has 1 lone highlight play. Regardless he didn't transfer from Warren Central to Covenant Christian. He enrolled at CC after T.C. Howe closed their doors. Even if he did attend WC as a Frosh and Soph like you claim, what did it have to do with the CC vs SA game? Kids move and transfer EVERY year mostly at Public schools. So I am failing to see where it would be an issue?

A shame the game can’t be played. Notwithstanding bad teams, there have been some great games in this series. But I was an eyewitness to the greatest of them all: the 1971 38-31 Hoosier victory at Memorial Stadium. The game included Purdue Pete getting knocked cold with his own sledgehammer in the end zone, and the two marching bands brawling with one another on the field. A band fight! Nothing can ever top that!

Not definitively, no. But I have had 5 more opportunities to see ND play so their resume is more complete. They have also beaten Clemson, who is better than anyone Ohio State has played and won AT North Carolina who I believe is on par with Indiana. You just made a Michigan fan throw up, congratulations.

Fred F. Park Field in Bluffton, IN,- I believe he was a coach and principal if I remember correctly. J.M. McKeand in Shelbyville,IN- I believe was a very successful coach and maybe one of the best. If we can ever get field turf, I think it would pay some great respect to Pat Parks to name field after him since he was here for almost 30 years. I have great respect for that man.

Snider players are flocking to South Adams? You must be referring to an isolated incident. I'd have to question your "all the time" claim. South Adams is an hour drive from Snider in a tiny town of 4000 that is heavily populated by the Amish. Not real appealing to a Snider kid. The expectation at Snider is that the kids (64 D1 players over the years) will rumble with Carmel or Penn deep in the playoffs. Leaving that to pursue 1A football to knock heads with Adams Central and Churubusco just doesn't seem to add up.

1979 was the first season on the current field and the first state championship was won in 1980. The old field is now the soccer field and is named for Barney Stout, a former football coach and administrator at the school. The baseball field was opened in 1980 and is named for Kent Harris, long time coach and assistant principal. The gym is named for former coach Larry Hobbs, who led Sheridan when they used to dominate basketball in Hamilton County. I enjoyed playing on the old field as the track was behind the bleachers and the stands were very close to the bench area.

Mitchell's Field is Named after Terry Cole a great player in high school and a great player at IU and then on to the pros and 3 super Bowl rings

Penn now has TCU Freed Field and a Zolman Tire concession stand. Not sure where it ends. Freed Field was named after a Penn Township Trustee. While the renovations are nice, particularly the concourse area in the southwest corner of the stadium, a part of me feels like the place has been thoroughly sterilized through renovation. Beat me to it, one of the best stadiums in the state IMO Big time. It's got a rugged quality to it that matches their teams perfectly. Absolutely loved playing there (Rice Field would be my second favorite NIC location for a road game). I'm sure it helped that the environment was particularly hostile.

Frankton is building a New Turf field and stadium. It will be called Otis Cress Field. On a side note: This is the 3rd time a field at Frankton has been named after him.

Merrillville - Dick Demaree Stadium- coach/program founder 1946-1975 Highland - Ken “Zip” Sypult Field - first Coach 1958-75 Munster - the field isn’t named, but the entire football/soccer/baseball complex is named for school’s first Coach and AD John Friend (1964-80). I would expect them to name the football field for recently retired coach Leroy Marsh (1980-2017), the program’s second coach, in the next few years. The Mishawaka Cavemen play in Frank M. Steele Stadium. Steele was Mishawaka’s Coach 1924-1932 and his Cavemen claimed 2 mythical state championships (’25 and ’26). He was the Mishawaka High School Athletic Director 1934-1952 and then served as the head of the Department of Health, Physical Education and Safety for the Mishawaka School Corporation until his retirement in 1960. The stadium was built (completed) in 1939.

I am with you. They certainly will be very tough to stop and they'd be my pick right now but they had issues on defense throughout the tournament and I think they lose both Rectanus and Doughty which looked to me to be their toughest players to block when they were on the field (Rectanus in particular because I think Doughty played every down on defense). I can't imagine the 2A team that will be able to stop their passing attack but if they can't stop the other team, then all it takes is a couple of bad throws, a game in bad weather, or a few penalties to kill a couple drives to give the other team a chance to win. And like you said, injuries could always factor in too. Have to admit that Luers grew on me in how they handled a very tough loss. Nothing but class from the coach or the players I heard interviewed after the game. Refreshing after hearing Eastbrook fans for a couple of years. I'll be pulling for them next season.

Not sure how that’s sandbagging? I’m just not ready to anoint them as state champions like many others are. Yes they have a good team coming back but they also are losing key players at key positions and also aren’t very big size wise. Also, I’m considering the possibility of injuries (Sir Hale went down this past year and some others). Realistically speaking, a 4-5 regular season isn’t far fetched and we all know that in the playoffs nothing is a garunteed, especially in 2A North.

Great for your sons. How many of their teammates also did ballet and played sports? I bet not enough to build an athletic program at your school.

Why invest in a Hi-Pod X31 when you can have WTHR or another news station film practice from a helicopter! 😆 Some who have been around will get it (sorry WC fans was meant in fun). Yes, he would be a great candidate for the WC job though. He did well at Pike.

A LOT of interesting names out there...and fun conversation...as @Coach Nowlin said, stay away from the hearsay. I agree with Temptation as far as the coaches in the donut around Marion County. I don’t see any of them moving. I am going to throw one name out there that has yet to come up, but has been a GREAT coach. Terry Peebles has plenty of experience on the college level and has done a great job with the Harrison program.

There is a deadline to nominate every year, generally around the Regional games. If you are a member of the IFCA you get frequent emails and communication detailing all of that and everything else that goes on

A note for those who don't know. Coaches have limited number of athletes they can nominate for all-state. It can be very difficult to narrow the list down. If your favorite player didn't make the team it can be for a number of reasons that range from being nominated in a LOADED position category, to being on a team with 4-5 other tremendous athletes. It's a difficult thing to do, and the meetings last hours.

There is truly only one person this move needs to be good for, and that is Coach West. He has stated it is what's best for his family and that is really that is all that needs to be said. He has proven that he is a great coach and a great motivator of young men. FC, not only got a great coach, but also a great person who will get them competing at a high level in a short amount of time. FC hit the jackpot with this hire.

Our guy "Big Cat" is a veteran but he always has to be in the discussion when it comes to all-state end-zone videographers. He's so good we've had to assign him personal protection to keep the middle schoolers and 70/80's letter jacket crews at Gibson Southern & Castle from harassing him during road games. He's a legend. Just don't give him chili at a tailgate or all bets are off.
